Married to the Mob - Chapter 13
Married to the Mob"Woohyun!"
Woohyun's eyes jolted open when he heard someone call out his name. He was surprised to see Sunggyu's face staring back at him with a worried look upon his face. It was then he realised that he was lying in Sunggyu's bed with no knowledge of how he got there.
"Are you alright?" Sunggyu asked. "Did you have a nightmare?"
Nightmare? thought Woohyun. So he had been dreaming, that same dream again. "I..." he began before an image flashed in his mind. Though his memory was hazy, there was one thing he was certain of. It was Sunggyu's face that he saw. In his dream Sunggyu was covered in blood. "Sunggyu, how did you injure your leg?"
Sunggyu looked at him with a puzzled expression, wondering why Woohyun was asking him this all of a sudden. "I'm afraid I can't tell you," Sunggyu admitted, solemnly. "The truth is, I have no recollection of anything prior to waking up in the hospital."
Woohyun's eyes widened in surprise.
"I was told that I was in a coma for quite some time," Sunggyu added.
Woohyun was speechless upon hearing Sunggyu's words. A terrible thought crossed his mind. Was it his fault that Sunggyu was like this?
"Woohyun, are you alright?" Sunggyu asked when he saw Woohyun lost in thought. "It must have been a terrible nightmare. You were screaming. What did you dream about?"
Woohyun was hesitant to respond. He was afraid to think that it was because of him that Sunggyu was in ths state. Would Sunggyu blame him? Would Sunggyu hate him? "I dreamt...that I was falling but then I was saved by..." Woohyun paused and stared at Sunggyu, who waited in anticipation. "An angel."
Sunggyu smiled. "Why would you call it a nightmare if you saw an angel?"
"That angel got hurt because of saving me," Woohyun replied, solemnly.
"It must have been your guardian angel," said Sunggyu.
Woohyun smiled. He couldn't agree more.
When the last of the customers finally left, Sungyeol exited the club from the back door to where his car was parked. As he fumbled for his keys in his pocket, he felt lightheaded. No matter how good he was at holding his liquor, downing a full bottle of scotch was bound to affect anyone. He shook his head, trying to focus until he felt the blade of a knife on his neck.
"Give me your wallet," demanded the voice behind him.
Sungyeol contemplated a moment. From the sounds of footsteps, he figured that there was more than one person. He let out a sigh before holding up his wallet which was snatched out of his hand within seconds.
"And the keys," the voice demanded.
Sungyeol frowned. They were trying his patience.
"I said the keys!" demanded the voice.
Sungyeol felt the blade press closer to his neck.
"Uh-uh, can't have you hurting what's mine," another voice interjected.
There was a scream of pain, followed by sounds of bones breaking. Sungyeol turned around to see L subduing the group of thugs. When the last thug fell, L picked up Sungyeol's wallet and approached him with a smug look on his face. Sungyeol snatched his wallet back and reached for his car door.
"Aren't you going to say thanks?" L asked. "I just saved your life."
"I don't remember asking for your help," Sungyeol replied as he got into his car.
L let out a sigh as he watched Sungyeol drive off into the distance. "What a pity."
Sungyeol sped through the deserted streets until a car coming from the opposite direction crashed into him. The impact was so strong that, despite the airbag, he was knocked unconscious.
When he came to, his head was bleeding and he was restrained to a chair in what looked like an abandoned warehouse. He figured that not much time had passed when he glanced at the windows and saw that it was still dark. He wondered if it was the Yang Clan seeking revenge once again until he saw a group of men emerged from the shadows. They were all dressed in black suits and tie. The lower half of their faces were covered with black masks. He knew that they were not the Yang Clan.
"Once upon a time, a man saved a boy and became a traitor," spoke one of the men. "Where is he?"
