Team Up.
Memories: After. {On Hiatus}- Come again? - Hyunggu asked to Chaeyeon as he tried to understand what he heard her said.
- Minji is the girl you wanted to confess, isn't she? - Chaeyeon replied but Hyunggu was even more confused.
- How do you... -
- You're Kino. Kino said it on the radio and I saw you that day with your flower and your puppy eyes filled with pain. -
- Minji is not your tutor, right? How do you know her? -
- She's Jungkook's sister. - Chaeyeon answered nonchalantly.
- But, how do you know her? - Hyunggu asked again.
- I'm friends with Jungkook. Aren't you like a smart kid? - Chaeyeon said frustrated.
- Oh, I see. So, going back to what you said. How can you help me win Minji's heart when she's dating this guy wearing all black? -
Chaeyeon took a deep breath and then smiled as she proceeded to explain.
- Here's the whole deal. I happen to like the guy wearing all black. His name is Rowoon and I was also going to confess that same day but we know what happened. I first decided to just forget him but now I have a different idea. -
- A different idea? -
- Since we both like people who are dating each other, I thought that we could team up and... -
Chaeyeon left the sentence unfinished as she gestured with her hands what she meant. Hyunggu didn't understand.
- I'm not getting this. - he said as he repeated her gesture. She rolled her eyes.
- To separate them. I thought we could team up and separate them. -
- What! - Hyunggu exclaimed. - Do you mean to separate them as in breaking them apart? Like ending their relationship? -
- Yes, exactly. -
Hyunggu started laughing when he heard Chaeyeon's words. It was contagious laughter yet Chaeyeon didn't even crack a smile and just stayed in silence watching him. When Hyunggu finally noticed her face he stopped laughing immediately.
- Oh, you're serious. I thought you were kidding. Well... no, thank you. - He said.
- Why are you refusing? - Chaeyeon asked unable to comprehend his negative.
- Listen, I don't want to be rude to you because I don't know you, but, here it is. I refuse because is childish, it's dumb and unrealistic. -
- Childish, it is. Dumb and unrealistic it is not. - Chaeyeon replied.
It is. Let's just agree it is.
- Ok, but I'm still not on board with this idea. - he told her.
- Then, what is your idea? -
- I don't have an idea. I lost already. That's it. -
Chaeyeon stared at him with a frown as she put her hands on her waist.
- You lost? Did you even play? Did you even fight? -
- Well, no. I didn't even have the chance. - Hyunggu answered.
- So, why are you saying you lost already? The game is not over until it's over. -
- I think it's over. And I can't come in between them and try to end their relationship. -
- Sure, you can. -
- No, I can not. If this was all you wanted to talk to me about, I'm going back to class now. -
Hyunggu turned around and left Chaeyeon in the hallway. The girl looked at his back as he walked away. Not angry or annoyed, or anything. Like I said before, she was a diligent girl. She had already foreseen his refusal so she had a backup plan.
After class Chaeyeon went to the teachers' office and put on her soft smile. The smile that always got her out of trouble. The smile that made people do things for her.
- So we're like two months away from our annual trip and I'm helping Jiyeon with some stuff. I need to discuss with the class president of... oh, his name is Kang Hyunggu. - she said as she pretended to read the name on her phone. - He went home already. Would you please give me his address? -
And just like that Chaeyeon now held the information she needed. The address was quite far so Chaeyeon ran to the bicycle parking hoping to find Jungkook. Luckily, he was still there.
- Jungkook, can you give me a ride? - she asked him.
- To your house? -
- Why would I need a ride to my house? I need to go somewhere else. -
- Where? -
Chaeyeon stayed in silence. She wasn't ready to let her friends know what she was doing. My guess here is that she knew she was doing a bad thing by wanting to break a relationship and knew her friends would talk her out of it.
But Jungkook didn't notice her expression and just laughed at her as he took a leaf off her hair.
- You were in such a hurry, I see. Where were you running from? - he said and Chaeyeon just laughed along with him. - Ok, let's go. -
Chaeyeon sighed relieved and hopped on Jungkook's motorcycle as she smiled pleased.
Later that day Hyunggu reached home after running some errands. He smelled the freshly homemade meal and frowned as he followed the scent to the kitchen.
- Dad, what are you doing? I was supposed to cook dinner. - he complained but his father just smiled.
- I figured you were going to be late so I decided to cook today. -
- Still, you should've waited for me. What if something happens? -
- This is going to be a shocker for you, son, but I know how to take care of myself. - His father defended himself. - Just go upstairs, I'm almost done. -
Hyunggu sighed but still went to his bedroom where he almost had a heart attack after he opened the door and found a girl sitting on his bed.
- Hi. - Chaeyeon said while grinning.
- What are you doing here? - Hyunggu asked after recovering from the scare.
- I told your Dad I was your student partner and he let me in. He let me into your bedroom. You must be a really good boy. - she replied.
- No. What are you doing in my house? -
- You didn't let me explain everything early this morning so I had
