Fight For What You Want.
Memories: After. {On Hiatus}Later that day Chaeyeon walked out of her classroom confused about the mess she was in. How did she promise Jiyeon she'd set her up with Hyunggu if she already promised him she'd help him win Minji's heart?
It was a big mess she had gotten herself into and she didn't know how she was going to get out of there. But she was the little devil. She'd think of something sooner or later.
She was walking with an absent mind that she didn't notice Jungkook standing by the wall of her classroom until he stepped in front of her.
- What did you say to Yeeun? - he asked Chaeyeon and the girl frowned.
- To who? - her head was still confused.
- Early this morning when Jaehyun and Seokmin got hurt, Yeeun went to the infirmary and you followed her. According to Yeeun, you didn't tell her anything but I know you did. - Jungkook explained.
Chaeyeon smiled once she understood. It was true. After Jaehyun and Seokmin fell because they "tripped", Chaeyeon followed Yeeun and asked her a simple question.
- I didn't say anything. Nothing important, at least. -
- Nothing important? Tell me what you said to her. -
- Don't overreact, Jungkook. What could have I said to her anyway? - Chaeyeon smirked and Jungkook rolled his eyes.
- I know you, little Devil. You'd play with her, you'd taunt her. You would say something that means one thing but since she doesn't know about it she'd think it means something else. - he said.
- Yes, that thing she doesn't know about. Why does she not know? Why haven't you told her you met her in Jeju three years ago? I mean, you're already dating her, what's the big deal? -
Jungkook didn't answer and Chaeyeon lifted an eyebrow at that.
- You are dating her, aren't you? -
For the second time, he didn't answer and instead he finally told Chaeyeon the whole thing. He told her Yeeun was supposedly dating him so she would feel jealous.
- Eww, she thinks you like me? - Chaeyeon said with a disgusted face.
- Most of the school thinks so. Yeeun believes the rumors about you and me. -
- Yeah, people are stupid but Yeeun is smarter than that. Look at Hyunggu. He's really smart and he never believed we were a thing. -
It was Jungkook's turn to frown when he heard Chaeyeon.
- What's going on with you and Hyunggu? Do you like him? - he asked.
- No. We're friends. - she answered.
- Well, it was weird how you brought him up so suddenly when we're not even talking about him. -
- Because I'm thinking about him. I have something to talk to him about. I was going to look for him before you interrupted me. -
Chaeyeon tried to walk away but Jungkook stopped her again.
- Wait. Something is going on. You're up to something, I know it. But whatever it is, just stop before you get in trouble. -
- I'll stop when you have the guts to tell Yeeun the truth. -
Chaeyeon left and Jungkook stayed half smiling as he watched his best friend go. The girl walked to Hyunggu's classroom but didn't find him there so she headed to the cafeteria and waited by the entrance for him to appear. Soon enough she saw him approaching.
He was looking down but this time because he was on his phone and he didn't see Chaeyeon until she spoke up to him.
- Hey there, you stud. -
- Stud? - he asked with amusement.
- Can I see your phone? - Chaeyeon requested him and she ignored his question.
The boy handed her his phone and she typed down a number but it was already saved.
- You have her number already. - she said.
- Whose number? -
- Jiyeon's number. -
- Of course, I have it. She's the president of the student committee. - Hyunggu replied.
- Oh, then that makes things easier. She wants you to call her. -
- Why? Does she want my help with something? -
- No. She wants you to call her so you can hang out and get to know each other. So you can go on a date or something. -
Hyunggu stared at Chaeyeon with his mouth wide open as confusion filled him. Chaeyeon pointed at him.
- That's the same face I made when Jiyeon told me she likes you. -
- What? Did Jiyeon tell you she likes me? -
- Yes. And I have to say I'm impressed, Kino. It's only the first day of your new confidence and you already got yourself an admirer. I told you, you have your own charms. So anyway give Jiyeon a call. -
Chaeyeon walked into the cafeteria but Hyunggu called up to her and she went back to stand in front of him.
- I can't call Jiyeon. - Hyunggu said.
- What do you mean you can't? -
- I mean that I like somebody else. And we have a plan to help me win that person's heart, remember? - Hyunggu said it as he came closer to Chaeyeon. He didn't want for other people to hear them as the students were walking in and out right by their side.
Chaeyeon stood in silence with crossed arms as she stared at Hyunggu with a disbelieving look.
- Angel, you don't believe the plan will work, do you? -
- I do. Don't you? -
- I believe it may work. I'm not sure it will. - Chaeyeon replied.
- It's the same for me. -
- Then, why are you refusing to call Jiyeon? -
- Because I like somebody else. - Hyunggu repeated himself.
More students passed by them at that moment and Chaeyeon got closer to Hyunggu. Neither of them paid attention to the fact they were being observed by the others because of how close they were standing.
- Let me explain something to you, Kino. On one side you have this girl that you like. For now. Because feelings change in a heartbeat. And she's dating this amazing guy. They may or may not break up anytime soon. But that doesn't mean she will like you back. On the other side, you have a beautiful girl who's already into you. So, why don't you give yourself a chance in finding love with this girl instead of heading straight into a possible heartbreak? -
- Okay, I'll explain something to you now, Chaeyeon. Minji is my first love. My feelings for her won't change in a heartbeat. In fact, the other day when you talked about comparing people, I felt bad for agreeing with you. Because I know that for the rest of my life, I will compare every other girl with Minji and they will lose. I know Jiyeon is great, so I don't want to be the reason she ends up broken-hearted later on. -
Chaeyeon looked down as she understood Hyunggu's words and nodded at him. She got it. She knew what he was saying.
- Fine. I'll tell Jiyeon you're not interested. -
- Thank you. But, please be nice to her. Don't tell her what I said about the comparison with Minji. - Hyunggu pleaded.
- So you want me to lie to her? You keep on surprising me, Angel. - Chaeyeon smiled.
- No, I just don't want her to get hurt. Tell her I'm flattered but that I'm not available. At least my feelings aren't. -
- I don't want to say that to her. It's so cheesy. - she complained but rolled her eyes when she saw Hyunggu's expression. - Alright, I'll figure it out. -
Chaeyeon managed to avoid Jiyeon at lunchtime but she received a text from Seokmin where he invited them all to eat ramen at his mother's restaurant. Sh
