Message From the Author
Queen of RosesWell, after 412 pages, 194146 words, and almost a year and a half of writing, we have finally reached the end of this book. Whew, what a journey it has been.
First of all, I want to congratulate all of you for making it to the end of this very long and very complicated story. I won’t lie, I feel strangely emotional as I conclude this book. Maybe it has something to do with all the time and energy I dedicated to it, or maybe it’s the connection I felt with each of the characters who took a life of their own as the story progressed.
I have only ever written two complete books, so I don’t have much to compare this experience with. But, if we do compare, this story was much more difficult to write than Seoul City. For starters, it was a completely new genre, something I had never ventured to write before. It was more serious, it had more depth, more interweaving story lines. There were a lot more main characters with stories of their own that slowly became just as integral to the book as the main plotline.
For all these reasons, there were so many points where I felt overwhelmed and insecure. I wanted to give up many times because it seemed like such a daunting task, but for some reason I always returned. This was partly because of the you guys, the readers, who offered the warmest words and
