The Mosh

Dream (Suga Fanfiction)

Yoongi abruptly closed the notebook and placed it back on my desk when I came in the room. It was the notebook where I write all of the rhymes I try to make. I don’t let anyone else see it, I’m still in the process of learning to write good lyrics so I was really uncomfortable allowing anyone see my drafts. After listening to Agust D’s songs, I labelled him as a lyrical genius and someone I could use as an inspiration when writing lyrics. So I was abashed when I caught him browsing through my notes.

“Seems like you are trying too hard, you don’t have to make every line deep. It looks so… forced, and we don’t want that. The emotion you are trying to portray feels fabricated.” Yoongi critiqued as he flipped the pages of the notebook. It was quite embarrassing so I couldn’t help but feel awkward, and probably go red. Usually, I’d get mad at people who would dare going through my stuff without my permission. But I couldn’t get mad at Min Yoongi. Not because I don’t want him to be angry at me again, but because I need him to be in good terms with me while he’s still working on his mixtape. Besides, I needed his judgment.

“Let’s eat,” I walked to my dining table and placed all the foods I bought on it. When I looked at Yoongi, he was still standing right beside my desk, examining the rest of it, which is composed of nothing but my abandoned college books.

“Just by looking at your desk, I already know how boring you are,” he said when he noticed I was glaring. He walked towards the table and took the seat across me.

“I don’t even touch them anymore,” I replied. I pushed the plate of gimbap and his black coffee across the table and handed him a pair of chopsticks. “Consider yourself lucky, I never treat people because well, I’m poor.”

He picked the chopsticks and thanked me for the food. When he finally had his mouth full of gimbap, he spoke, “You know who’s lucky here? It’s you. My presence alone is worth millions, and you’re having a meal with me for free. You should be grateful.”

“It’s not free, I bought your gimbap and coffee.” I answered. Well, I was already broke as thanks to Min Yoongi. “I even bought you a ticket when you can buy your own.”

“It’s not my fault you got so drunk and bought me a ticket.”

I met his eyes for a short moment until he realized that what he just said was wrong. We both know the reason why Namjoon and I decided to have a few drinks. But he didn’t take it back, he just continued enjoying the meal I brought him. Both of us didn’t talk anymore, not that because we found what Yoongi said awkward but because both of us prefer eating quietly. It was probably that moment when I realized that Yoongi does not intimidate me that much anymore.

I tapped my fingers to the beat of Post Malone’s Congratulations as I observed people who walk pass the car. We did not expect the traffic to be that heavy so we were already running late for the show. I knew I didn’t say anything to Dongsun when he invited me so he didn’t really bother contacting me before the show started. He probably thought I wouldn’t go or I forgot about it, which happens most of the time.

“Turn right in that narrow street then left when you see the neon arrow,” I directed Yoongi as he drove down the street. I thought I had to since the place is kind of confusing to people who are new to that place. “Then go straight at the back of the building since there are more parking space there.”

“I know,” he nodded. His eyes were fixed on the road as he turned his steering wheel right. “I used to go here all the time with Joon.”

“Oh.” I suddenly felt embarrassed. He may be too big for this place now but I should’ve known that he’s someone who has been so into the underground scene for years and he has most likely been into the place.

Once he pulled his pick-up truck over, he reached for the glove compartment right in front of me. He leaned close to me, making me smell his perfume and get lost in its strong scent. I stared at him as he looked for something in the messy compartment and all I could think of was my view that morning. I suddenly felt hot, I knew I was already blushing.

“I give up,” he groaned when he couldn’t find what he was looking for. “Can you find a black mask in there?” He brushed his hair up, exposing his forehead, and wore a black baseball cap on his head. I swear, if my daily view would be Min Yoongi with his hair neatly brushed up or hidden under a cap, it would be the death of me.

I dug through the pile of unnecessary things in his glove compartment and searched for the mask he was asking. Although I easily found the mask, I pretended to search longer just to give myself some time to cooldown. I wouldn’t want him to see my face extremely red.

“Why would you wear one?” I asked once I decided to hand him the mask he asked for.

“People might recognize me,” he shrugged. He snatched the mask from my hand and tucked its strings behind his ears, hiding half of his face while the other half of his face was being hidden by the shadow of his cap.

I didn’t stop him from doing what he wanted to do. I knew the bouncer would ask him to take it off anyway.

As we approached the building, I heard Nahyun’s voice call my name. I quickly looked at where I thought the voice was coming from just to see the girl and her brother excitedly walk towards me. I pulled Yoongi’s sleeves so he would stop walking.

Nahyun had a red plastic cup in her hand, so I figured they have been in the venue for quite some time. She has always been so quirky so when she noticed a man standing beside me, she did a really dorky gesture, asking who the I took with me.

“This is Yoongi-ssi, um, Suga, or Agust D, whatever the you want to call him,” I moved aside so Yoongi could step forward and greet them. But he just gave them a nod, I’m not even sure if he smiled. “This is Nahyun, my best friend, and her brother, Dongsun.” I pointed at each of the siblings as they gave Yoongi a wide smile.

“Ah, he’s Dongsun,” Yoongi said under his breath as he nodded. I looked at him confused, I don’t remember mentioning Dongsun to him so I’m not really sure how he knew him.

We all walked together to the entrance. As expected, the bouncer blocked Min Yoongi and insisted he take his mask off. Yoongi didn’t want to and even tried to bribe the bouncer but apparently, the bouncer does not give a about him and his money. So he had no choice but to take it off and carry on.

I was expecting to see little girls walk around the club since it’s a Dickids show but I remembered, we were in a club and kids are not allowed inside clubs late at night. So it’s kind of a wonder how they allowed Dickids to have an event in a place full of cigarettes and booze.

Dongsun and Nahyun lead the way to their tables. We dove through the sea of people jumping up and down to the beat of Agunu’s song. I gripped Nahyun’s wrist tight so I wouldn’t get lost while my other hand held Yoongi’s sweater just to be sure he won’t get separated.

I knew we were already approaching our table when I spotted the man with blonde dreads sipping beer as if it was coffee. He immediately pushed himself up from his seat when our eyes met. “Long time no see!” he greeted with a high five.

Two unfamiliar guys sat on the same table which I assumed were Gook and Joshua. One of them looked like a typical Korean high school kid with a pierced ear just to make himself look kind of a badass. The other one looked like a mix of the west and the east, making him stand out more.

“Gook,” Chul Moo pointed at the high school kid, “Joshua,” and he pointed at the western kid. I smiled at the two but they just half-bowed and continued focusing at the kid on the stage. “Is that your boyfriend?” Chul Moo nodded at the man standing behind me. I thought Yoongi heard it but when I looked at him, he was too busy examining the place with his eyes.

“No, I work with him,” I answered, trying to fight the volume of the sound system. “He’s Yoongi. Suga of BTS if you’ve heard of them.” I tugged Yoongi’s sleeves so he would stop looking around the place and actually give a about the people I introduce to him.

“Hey man, nice to meet you,” Yoongi reached his hand out to Chul Moo. Chul Moo seemed confused though. I don’t know if he had heard of the name or just too star struck to properly react. When he grabbed Yoongi’s hand, he just answered, “Cool.”

Nahyun suddenly came into the scene and handed me five CDs. I almost forgot why we went there in the first place and that was to giveaway our mixtape. I don’t really want to do it since I’m kind of bad at interacting with strangers (even though I work as a cashier/waitress), but whenever we produce a mixtape, we give it away in events and I don’t want to be the friend who says no to little things like this.

“Those are the CDs left,” Nahyun’s eyes shifted from me to Yoongi and back to me. “Is he helping you?”

I looked at Yoongi, hoping he would answer for me. Of course I want him to help but I can’t tell him what to do. He just raised his brows and, well, also waited for me to answer for him.

When he didn’t answer, I said, “I guess not.”

“Okay,” Nahyun gave Yoongi a huge smile. “You could sit with us, have some drink or something while you wait for Ahreum.”

“Oh, I can’t drink, I’m driving.” Yoongi may not look like that kind of guy but he respects the law and the safety of himself and the people around him kind of too much. Yoongi is also the kind of guy that avoids social situations with strangers. Yes, it’s ironic. He’s an idol and talks to a lot of girls he has never seen before but he’s only doing it because it is his job. So I’m not really sure why he said, “I’m just gonna help Ahreum with the CDs.”

“I thought you said you don’t like people,” I nudged Yoongi’s arms as we walked away from the group. He looked at me with his lips pursed.

“I never said that.”

“Yes, you did. You said you personally don’t like people.”

“I never told you that.” He smirked and fixed his eyes on me. “You watched my live stream.”

I think my face flushed red. It was dark so no one could tell how red I probably looked. I watched once, I just wanted to see if he acts the same on and off screen. And I learned that he is completely different. The way he talks is the same though, he talks as if he is drunk or too lazy to part his lips. But on screen, Yoongi smiles a lot and seems a little bit energized than usual. He’s just usually too dead serious off screen. But I guess he can’t show it on camera because he has to make people love him.

“But yeah,” he said. “But I’d rather talk to random strangers for a few minutes and give away CDs than sit with your friends, which are strangers to me, and pretend I’m comfortable.”

“I see,” I nodded.

Thanks to Min Yoongi, the mixtapes were easily given away and people accepted them with enthusiasm. It seemed like no one could reject Min Yoongi’s charm. Once he approaches someone, people would either be like “You’re Suga of BTS, right?” or “Damn, you’re cute.” and girls couldn’t help but blush. The job was too easy for him, I just asked him to give all of the mixtapes away since he also enjoyed the attention.

“Wanna get out of here?” I asked him when we ran out of mixtapes. Well, the only reason I tagged along is for the mixtape, and because I drunk-purchased two tickets for the show.

“Nah,” he shook his head. He was focused on the girl performing on the stage, probably the only girl who performed on that show. “I know this kid. Her name is BRYN and she spits fire.”

I crossed my arms and faced the stage just to see the girl he was talking about. Well, when you say Dickids, BRYN is really one of the names that would pop in your head.

“I didn’t know someone like you still listens to the unheard.”

“If they remain unheard then who’s gonna listen to them?” He looked at me for a few seconds and pulled me into the crowd with him. I didn’t want to join the crowd since I was tired and I seriously wanted to go home, but Yoongi was holding me and I didn’t want him to let go.

We squeezed ourselves into the pool of people jumping and dancing along. At first, it was suffocating but when Yoongi looked back at me with his signature gummy smile, I felt more than alive. We jumped to the beat of the music and pushed people who also dared to push us. At some point, a woman accidentally elbowed me, hitting my jaw pretty damn hard. It hurt, but I just laughed and pushed her away from me and continued jumping to the beat. I’ve never been a fan of moshes but I loved that moment, because Yoongi was holding me.

“Thank you.” I told Yoongi as we pulled up in front the house. I’ve been with him for more than 24 hours but I still wanted more time with him, even for just a minute.

He nodded. “Yeah, thanks.”

I waited for him to say more, but we both just sat there in complete silence. I felt tensed, for some reason. I felt like I had to lean close to him and expect anything from him but I didn’t want to embarrass myself in front of a popstar. He’s way out of my league. So I just opened the door but before I hop out of it, he spoke.

“It has been like four years since I’ve experienced that, it made me feel so nostalgic.”

“I’m glad you enjoyed it,” I gave him a warm smile.

He smiled back and said, “Good night.”
