It would be an understatement if Nayeon said they were happy with the news.

 

Not when Jeongyeon is grinning, facing the wall and Jihyo looking like she was out of breathe before throwing all the pillows to Nayeon.

 

"You lucky bish!" Jihyo shouts.

 

"I can't believe they're finally..." Jeongyeon trails off before going to Jihyo and high-fiving her. Nayeon raises a brow; her friends could be really extra sometimes. No, always. They're always extra.

 

"So, all of our hard work paid off. That dumping you on the ice cream shop is worth it. You don't know how frustrating you and Mina look as you avoid your feelings with each other." Jeongyeon tackles Nayeon.

 

Somehow, today her friends are very energetic too.

 

"Wait, it was planned. Both of you really ditched me in that shop?!" The realization hits Nayeon.

 

Jihyo takes a deep breathe. "You see, my friend, if we didn't do that you two could go on forever, not revealing your feelings with each other, and see us suffer with how much you interact with her. You both are so oblivious I'm this close to locking you two in a room together to sort out your feelings."

 

"Which did happen." Jeongyeon says, a smug smile still on her face.

 

"And somehow I manage to interrupt just when they're about to—"

 

"Okay, shut up now. I was just trying to tell you two what happened not tease me like this."

"Finally!" Momo slow clapped, going around the sofa as she walks around.

 

"This deserves a celebration, party. We need a party. I'm gonna invite all the people my father knows." Jisoo grins, she couldn't hold back a smile, not after what Mina just said.

 

"Please, our hardships are paid. Thank Jisoos."

 

"You're overreacting. Jisoo please stop that. And Momo please sit down." Mina rolls her eyes, the sight of her two friends acting extra isn't new but she couldn't help but sigh whenever.

 

"What? UNNIE WHAT?" Sana comes out from her room. Small footsteps were heard as she runs down the stairs.

 

Mina sighed once again. Her mother follows behind Sana, a smile plastered on her face. Mina already knows she would not get one bit of sleep with all the questions bombarding her tonight.

"Okay, kids! Time to go and dance now!" Nayeon smiles as the children shows off their dance skills with Dahyun standing out the most, doing the iconic rainism dance as she steps foot at the center.

 

The music were booming, and it's defeaning but Nayeon enjoys it.

 

Their fair is almost like a party, with all the food, the music, the guests, students everywhere, parents too.

 

Nayeon is busy preparing and helping the kids as they weren’t allowed to go out since the higher grades are everywhere in the school and Nayeon knows better than to let them meet her children.

 

Eunha, one of their teachers is with her, looking lovingly at the children as they sprawl around. Nayeon squints her eyes at the one dancing. Tzuyu is doing her 'let's go to the mart' dance again.

 

A knock on the door disturbs her, looking up. She sees Minhyuk outside, "Can we please talk?"

 

She glances at Eunha who seem to be doing well with the kids before nodding. "Just give me a second."

 

"What is it?" Nayeon says, eyes moving everywhere except to him. She couldn't face the shame of avoiding him ever since that day, and Nayeon didn't really think much of it since a certain doctor is always on her mind.

 

"I noticed that you have ignored my messages, and me. I can't help but feel like I did something wrong. So tell me, did I do something wrong?" Minhyuk says.

 

Nayeon swallows the lump forming in , Minhyuk is still hoping, hoping for nothing. If she is just honest with him before it wouldn't have led to this.

 

"I am sorry but... I can't give you something other than friendship. I don't feel the same way the way you do with me." Nayeon mutters, having no idea what to say. Her unprepared self is not ready.

 

Silence surrounds them. Only the booming music coming from the gymnasium is heard. She sees Minhyuk sigh, and she prepares herself for the rage that's about to come.

 

Except there isn't.

 

"You should've told me sooner, you know? I respect your decision and all. It's not like I'd force you to feel something for me. Anyway, thank you for clearing yourself, and for giving me a chance. Guess luck isn't really by my side today." He says, voice faltering as he finish what he's saying.

 

Nayeon felt relieved, sure, because Minhyuk is too kind for such things, and he respects her decision. Eventually the two sorted it out, and Nayeon is glad they remained friends even she somewhat broke his heart—not really.

 

They part ways, and Nayeon heads towards the teacher's room. The music couldn't be heard anymore, and Nayeon finds herself in a comfortable peace. She needed time after the talk with Minhyuk that somehow made her feel bad.

 

Fortunately, she's alone at the moment. Teachers were busy accompanying parents or entertaining guests and students. While Nayeon feels herself lucky for having this short amount of break.

 

She supposes Eunha is fine without her, seeing the kids having fun with her earlier. Nayeon pulls out her earplugs, sits at the chair, and closes her eyes. No one is going to enter for a while anyways, might as well doze off for a second.

 

She hums the song, and before she knows it, she is singing the whole lyrics.

 

She didn't notice someone is already there when her earphone is pulled away from one of her ears and Nayeon opens her eyes, surprised at the action.

 

"You know, for a pretty teacher like you, I thought of you to be more hard working, not this dozing-off kind of teacher." Mina beams a smile at her as she plugs the earphone to her ear. Face ridiculously close with Nayeon.

 

Meanwhile, Miss Im couldn't get over what just happened and keeps her stare at Mina.

 

"It's rude to stare you know." Mina mutters, eyes looking nervously at Nayeon.

 

She shakes her head, finding herself trap with a beauty named Myoui Mina. "Sorry, just surprised. How did you get here anyway? I thought you couldn't come."

 

Mina smirks, and Nayeon finds it unfairly attractive. "I was kidding. I wanted to surprise you but I can't see you anywhere until I saw you talking with some guy and that's it."

 

Oh. Nayeon raises a brow at this. The subtle pout and annoyance in Mina's voice isn't so subtle when it comes to Nayeon.

 

Oh god stop pouting, I might as well kiss you right here, right now…

 

"Minhyuk? Yeah, we were just talking a while ago." Nayeon answers.

 

"I could see that." Mina says, avoiding Nayeon's stare at her.

 

"Are you jea—"

 

"Don't say it." The authority over Mina's voice makes Nayeon stop whatever she is about to say. She is supposed to be scared but why does she find herself smiling over the doctor's jealous mode?

 

Absurd, yes but if you think about it you couldn't blame Mina. Seeing the person who went out with Nayeon few weeks ago, the one who tried to make a move on her, the one who caught her when she almost slipped, the one who would not stay an inch away from her, always finding ways to stick close to the teacher. Thinking about it, Mina can't help but feel grumpy.

 

But this jealousy thing isn't really her and she takes a deep breath before looking at Nayeon who's already staring back with an amused smile on her face.

 

"What is it?"

 

"Nothing." Nayeon bites back a smile.

 

"You know what," Mina speaks up, wanting to change the atmosphere. "You should really sing more."

 

Nayeon raises a brow. "What? You believe my voice is the best now?"

 

"Right, when you said you sing well I wasn't expecting it to be that good as that of an angel's." Mina smiles, only the corner of her lips lifting, doing that thing to Nayeon's heart again.

 

"You flatter too much." Nayeon chuckles, she's not used to Mina saying this things to her and she would lie if she said she didn't like it.

 

"You're not even allowed here. Who told you to get inside?" Nayeon asks, looking at Mina who resembles a lost puppy with those eyes and that small pout she does with before scrunching her face.

 

Stop looking so cute, really you're gonna put me in a heart attack any minute now.

 

"I have my ways." Mina says, as she takes something behind her back, pulling out a small bouquet of flowers. She hands it to Nayeon, who is pursing her lips, trying not to smile too much with the present.

 

"Do you like it?"

 

Nayeon nods. No one has ever given her a flower ever. Except that time Mina unexpectedly confronted her when she's walking back home, the flower she received is at her home and she's been taking good care of it ever since. This time, Mina gave her another one and Nayeon would've just jumped at her for doing so. She loves flowers, a lot. And the fact that it was Mina who gave her something she likes for the second time isn't really helping her heart.

 

Mina couldn't tear her gaze away from Nayeon's smile. She thinks that maybe that smile is one of her favorite things in the world, how beautiful it is. How her bunny teeth is seen. How precious her smile is. She didn't know what came to her mind for her to pull Nayeon closer by her nape, about to close the gap between them when the door unexpectedly opens, revealing Jeongyeon frozen at the door.

 

Nayeon sighs, Again.

 

Mina unintentionally rolled her eyes, For the second time, do people even know how to knock?

 

Mina stands up, trying to regain her composure as she fake coughs and smiles at Jeongyeon who is clearly grinning with the thought of disturbing their thing once again.

 

"Nayeon, I am sorry. I'm disturbing something again, right? And don't blame me I didn't ask to see that again. Please go get a room if you want, but your kids wants to see you." Jeongyeon says. She turns around to leave before stopping at the door.

 

"Don't worry Doc Myoui. You'll get your kiss sooner or later." She winks before running off, seeing Nayeon ready to throw the stapler right in her face.

 

Nayeon turns to Mina, smiling sheepishly. "I'm sorry about that. We should get going. Sana is going to be happy seeing you."

 

She mutters. Face burning with red as she recalls how Mina pulled her closer before the damn door opens.

 

She was about to kiss me? she asks herself.

 

Yes, Nayeon did take the chance of pecking Mina's lips that day but that doesn't count. Of course not. How would that be when Nayeon couldn't even feel anything after pulling straight away. The thought still makes her feel embarrassed until now.

 

Mina follows after, silently waddling behind Nayeon as they walk to the room.

The kids surrounded Mina as soon as she entered and Nayeon chuckles, seeing her pulled down as the mountain of children grabs her. Sana squealed at her sister's sight. Running towards her as she tackles her to the ground. Mina feels helpless as she couldn't do anything but play with them.

 

"Children do like pretty doctor, am I right unnie?" Eunha asks as she stands beside Nayeon, watching Mina play with the children makes her feel something within her.

 

"Sure is."

 

"But she's so pretty, though. What's her name?" Nayeon looks at Eunha weirdly, hesitating, knowing where this conversation will lead.

 

"Myoui Mina."

 

"Oh, even her name is pretty. Your friend here intrigues me. Mind introducing me to her?" Now, Nayeon irks at that. She stares at Eunha in disbelief.

 

My friend? Yeah, she's my friend? Haha. Nayeon says in her mind. There is really no confirmation between her and Mina. Whatever their relationship is. Maybe they're friends? Who try to kiss the other? Who tries to hold the other's hands? They're friends who give each other presents? Friends who stare at each other until the other melts?

 

"She's off limits!" Nayeon bursts out, thousands of thoughts running in her mind as she tries to find an excuse about the pretty doctor.

 

She sighs in desperation, her small burst out caught the attention of the doctor who is staring perplexed at her.

 

Nayeon looks in shock. Glancing at Eunha, then back at Mina before shaking her head. "I-I mean she's not really... into... that kind of thing."

 

It's the last thing Nayeon says before she leaves the children under Eunha's care again, and leaving Mina dumbfounded. Forgetting the main reason why she even went there.

"Your girlfriend is a celebrity, now huh? Look at those students gawking at her." Jihyo says, taking a sip from her drink.

 

Nayeon smiles in amusement, looking towards where her friend is staring.

 

"I know."

 

Jihyo raises a brow. "You're not going to do anything about it?"

 

"What am I going to do about it? I'm still at work. I can't just pull her out of a sudden and declare whatever it is you want me to say." Nayeon mutters, as if it was the obvious thing to do at the moment.

 

"Wow, someone is in a bad mood. I can tell." Jihyo teases.

 

"Am not."

 

"Oh, yes you are."

 

"No."

 

"Yes.

 

"No."

 

"You don't mind if I steal Doc Myoui away?"

 

"No— wait, what?"

 

"Ha! Got you!" Jihyo says, before running away. Nayeon sighs, her friends could really be childish whenever they want.

"You're still here?"

 

"Why? Don't you want me here?" Mina frowns, not expecting Nayeon's answer to be like that. All she looks forward today is to see Nayeon. Seems that the older isn't really the same.

 

"Wha—no! Of course, I like seeing you. I just thought that you'll go home early since you came here for Sana."

 

"I didn't come here for Sana." Mina raises a brow. "But I did bring her home."

 

"And you returned right away? So who did you come here for?" Nayeon starts walking, and Mina follows, rushing to match Nayeon's pace.

 

"Obviously, it's you." Mina says as she grabs Nayeon's hands and intertwines her fingers with her. The action made Nayeon shut up, and blush more than she expected. She sees Mina grinning, and is ashamed to know that the doctor is already looking at her.

 

"I can hold your hand, right?"

 

Nayeon nods shyly, it's unfair how Mina could just do anything and Nayeon immediately melts on the spot.

 

Blame the stupid organ.

 

"Why did you run away, though? I could see the other teacher shock with your answer. You left me alone with the kids. You didn't even bother helping me." Mina pouts and Nayeon wishes her stupid heart is still intact. Her eyes trail Mina's face until it lands on her lips, how she wouldn't stop talking and how much Nayeon wants to close the distance between them.

 

Mina noticed how Nayeon isn't really paying any attention at her. And how she just noticed where Nayeon is really looking. God, now Mina couldn't really hold it in.

 

She is about to lean in. About to. Until....

 

"Minari!"

 

Every time, how many times will people interrupt?

 

They both looked at the owner of the voice.

 

"Chaeyoungie?" Mina questions, looking at Nayeon who let goes of Mina's hand right after hearing the voice.

 

"Minari! It's been a long time! I've missed you." She proceeds to hug Mina, and all she could do is stand there motionless. Letting her friend do what she wants. It isn't helping how Nayeon is still beside her, making the situation more complicated.

 

The two friends talked with each other, catching up as they laugh and talk and how Nayeon couldn't understand or relate to any of them. Now, she feels out of place.

 

She clears . "If you want I can leave, so you two may catch up with each other."

 

She smiles, not wanting Mina feel bad about almost forgetting her. Nayeon really doesn't mind. She just feels really out of place with the two friends.

 

"No!" Mina exclaims, making both women look at her.

 

"I mean, we're just talking that's all. And I'm not leaving you alone." Mina wraps her hand around Nayeon's as she stands her ground.

 

Chaeyoung waved goodbye, saying something about her visiting somewhere and honestly, Nayeon doesn't care.

Their walk has become uncomfortably silent.

 

"Seems that you two are very good friends." Nayeon starts, and Mina laughs at that. Sure, they are friends.

 

"Yeah, she's been with us since high school. I'm glad to see her again. Even after all the things she did, I did miss her a lot."

 

Minari, Chaeyoungie. What's with the nicknames? Nayeon says in her mind, silently annoyed with the pet names.

 

"It seems that you are pretty close. One time, I saw her kissing your cheek. That must be something that friends do. Maybe we're friends too." Nayeon laughs, but she halts when she realizes what she said. It slips again off her tongue and she wishes she should've definitely brought a packing tape.

 

It occurred to Mina. Everything sinks in.

 

"Chaeyoung liked me for a while. That day, she was drunk. I still remember it very clearly. That was the day before you stopped going for check-ups and..."

 

"Mina, can I ask you something?" She drags Mina in a secluded corner. Away from the eyes of the strangers passing by.

 

"What is it?" She looks at Nayeon, who still refuses to look at her direction. Mina smiles, she is so cute.

 

"I wish I'm not assuming or anything but it feels like your definition of a friend isn't really clear. I confessed to you, and you did too. And I'm just really confused because it seems like you act like someone who wants to be by my side but we're still friends and I really don't know what are we."

 

The two were engaged in a staring contest, Mina finding it hard to explain. She thought it’s very much clear to Nayeon what they are now.

 

“I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable with the question. I’m sorry if I did. I just don’t want to be confused anymore. It’s not like we have something but really I have no idea. I just do—“

 

Mina shuts her up, by leaning in and planting her lips against Nayeon's. The latter was very much frozen; her mind couldn't decipher what is happening. Mina disappointedly pulls away, with the lack of response she couldn't help but think this is a really bad timing and a very bad decision not until, Nayeon pulls her back by her collar and kisses her back. Moving along Mina’s lips until Nayeon finds herself drowning in them.

 

The two went on for a long time, before breaking off because air. Mina leans her forehead on Nayeon as she takes a deep breathe, trying to regain all the stolen oxygen from her by Nayeon.

 

"Does that answer your question, Miss Im?" Mina says, voice between husky and shaky. Still breathless with the kiss just a second ago.

 

Nayeon lets out a small chuckle. Cheeks burning in red. She struggles to look Mina in the eye.

 

"I don't think of you as a friend, and if that isn't clear enough then I don't know anymore." Mina muses, clinging onto Nayeon's waist as she refuses to let go.

 

"Be my girlfriend." Mina says, no, commands, really. She doesn't have any idea how she got this bold. Usually, she'd ask with that shy state of hers, she tries to get the other's permission first. But something with Nayeon feels so different and Mina isn't sure if it's good or bad.

 

Nayeon doesn't waste no time, kissing Mina again. Her hands move to the doctor's neck, trying to remove any distance between her and Mina, as if it's still possible with how much their bodies are pressed already.

 

Mina smiles between their kisses. She's right, Nayeon's kisses are addicting. Something with it makes Mina's heart palpitate. Wanting to explode any time now.

 

Nayeon doesn't think of anything, only how she can get used to Mina like this. Definitely, both could get used to the other like this.
