As they fell backwards, Soojung’s body stiffened and she squeezed Jin’s hand tightly afraid she would be separated from him. She expected to feel her head hit against the dry clay ground but instead the moment she expected a collision, she felt the same magnetic sensation pulling her in from behind this time.
The tugging and twisting sensation around her made her feel increasingly dizzy but she could still feel Jin’s presence next to her so she felt safe and not as nervous.
Once the sensation stopped and Soojung opened her eyes again, the warm sun hit against her and she squinted to see the rundown rusted steel warehouse in front of them again.
This was when Jin let go of her hand and patted her head, “You did good. Let’s go see Mon now.” Jin paused and said, “Mon’s waited a long time to tell you all of this. Please don’t hate him or me.”
Jin’s words were strange and it had seemed to Soojung he was apologising for something that was going to happen. But she couldn’t connect the words together to make sense so she said back to Jin, “You’re a good person, Mon is too. Why would I hate either of you?”
Jin’s poker face expression didn’t change at Soojung’s words but he gestured for Soojung to follow him into the warehouse.
Mon had told Soojung previously that the warehouse had belonged to his grandfather who had owned a steel fabrication business. The business had been unsuccessful and the warehouse had been abandoned, as his grandfather did not have the heart to sell the place where he had wanted to start his dream. The family had adored Mon’s grandfathe
