Twenty One
The RoommateThe day had been filled with movies and make-out. As promised and agreed upon, they both exercised enough self-control to get out of bed for the day. Being the more light-headed between the two, Seungyeon forced them to shower and get dressed. She refused to sleep with him that night.
However tempting it was to get it down again --- and it was --- Jonghyun knew that Seungyeon was right. If they were going to make their new relationship work, they would need to set some boundaries. And so they watched movies, cooked, and made out like unquenchable teenagers.
“I’m taking you out on a real date tonight,” Jonghyun said the next morning as he walked into the kitchen.
Immediately interested, she set down the newspaper. “You are?”
“Yup.” He said while pouring himself some coffee. “So be ready at five.”
She bit her lip in excitement. “Okay!”
He started to walk out of the Penthouse.
“Wait!” Seungyeon called, stopping him in his tracks. “Eodi gaseyeo?” (Where are you going?)
“I’m going to the office for a bit.”
Seungyeon tried to hide her disappointment, she thought they’d spend the day together. “Oh, okay. I’ll see you later then.”
He turned and walked over to where she was sitting, watching the pretty smile on her face get wider the closer he came. Kissing her rosy cheek, he repeated again, “Five.” And with a wink, he was gone.
“Where the hell is he?” Seungyeon thought as she walked around her room. It was 4:55 and Jonghyun was nowhere to be seen. He had come back a few hours earlier as she was in the shower, but when she got out, he was gone.
During the brief five-minute period they had seen each other; he had kissed her quickly and told her to dress casually. “Wear jeans,” is actually what he said but Seungyeon preferred to call it casual.
As she was applying last-minute touch-ups, she heard the phone ring. She rushed over and answered it.
“Ms. Gong Seungyeon?”
“This is she.”
