Sixteen
The RoommateOn the way down to the stairs, Jonghyun took a handful of candies from a basket outside of another venue hall. Handing Seungyeon a piece, they both ate the sweets as they walked down the street.
"Do you normally get trick-or-treaters at the Penthouse?" Seungyeon asked
"Don't know. I haven't been there on Halloween for the past few years. But I imagine not many, since we're on the top floor. I've never handed out candy to anyone before," he confessed with a laugh.
Seungyeon stopped on her tracks. "I'm sorry, what? That's the best part of Halloween." She looked down the street. "Come with me," she said, this time she grasped his hand.
"Where are we going?"
"You'll see..."
Twenty minutes later, they were armed with bags of candy seated on a bench along their street. Flocks of kids in costumes everywhere, with exhausted parents trailing behind. For the next few hours, Jonghyun and Seungyeon handed out candy to the superheroes, fairies, witches, and monsters that passed by.
"What was your favorite Halloween costume as a kid?" asked Jonghyun, opening her a can of soda.
"When I was ten, my sisters and I dressed up as the Powerpuff Girls." She paused. "Obviously, I was Blossom. My middle sister was Bubbles and Jungyeon was Buttercup." She laughed and took a sip of her drink. "You?"
"I made a pretty good Cowboy. And when I was four, my oldest sister was Wendy while my second sister was Tinkerbell and I was Peter Pan."
