“Come on! One more lap, and we’re done with your target.” TaecYon keep running next to me. We’ve been training for a full Seoul marathon for months now. He’s a built up young men that has no problem with physical activities, while I’m a newbie in any sports at all.

I stopped and tried to put a lot of air to enter my lungs. Just like fishes out of water. “chan.. ka.. man.. yo..”

He stopped in front of me and run back to my direction. “Come on, you cannot stop now. It’s only been 12 kilos. We’re looking for 42 kilos. It’s your idea to begin with.”

“I know,” I gasped, “but I believe in baby steps training” I wiped the sweat that flowing on my face.

“No, it’s been months, no more baby steps.” He grabs my hand and drags me with him. “Kajja!”

An hour later, we finished our training. Today we achieved our target distance of 20 kilos. Although it’s far from the real length of marathon, I assumed it as my own personal best so far.

I lay on my back on the pavement near the Han River. Letting the coldness of the stone pierce through me, while trying to maintain my breathing to normal pace.

“Here you go.” TaecYon offers me a bottle of mineral water.

“Thanks.” I turn the cap and gulp as much as I can. “You see, that was my personal best so far.” I grin. I want to pat myself on the back for my achievement today, but he did it first.
