You Idiot

The Truth in Acting

"Oppa!! Aegyo please!"

Jinyoung smiled and shook his head toward the audience members attending he fansign. Not only was he being humble, but he also didn't feel in the mood for playing around. He felt a little pathetic as a result of that, since fansigns were supposed to be about the fans, but he just genuinely couldn't bring himself to forget everything and put himself out there.

It had been 6 days since Mark and Jinyoung fought. Both tried their best to stay away from each other, only communicating when there was a camera on them or when they were in public. Even that was minimal. The other members of Got7 did their best not to bring up the subject. They didn't know the reason behind it, but none of them were brave enough to ask. They'd never seen Mark and Jinyoung avoid each other as much as they currently were, and they all hoped they'd make up soon.

"Mark oppa! We can't wait to see 'Only Yours'!" Jinyoung heard a few fans shout, the vocalist instinctively glancing over at Mark. The blonde was looking at the fans with a huge smile which made Jinyoung's heart clench, but it also made him sick.

"Filming is almost over, please support it!" Mark bowed, his adorable smile making Jinyoung turn away and make his way to Jackson. He sat beside the rapper as he heard numerous "we will!"s from the audience responding to Mark.

"Is everything okay?" Jackson asked once the dark-haired male sat down on the edge of the signing table.

Jinyoung hadn't even noticed his lips had formed a pout. Instead of answering Jackson, the vocalist rested his head on the rapper's muscly shoulder. Jackson didn't question any further and rested his own head on top of Jinyoung's.

The fans began cheering at the close contact between the two, causing the other members to look over with curiosity.

Jinyoung missed the heartbroken expression Mark harnessed.

---

"You've seemed so out of it lately, oppa. Is there anything going on?" So Eun prodded gently, fixing her hair in a nearby mirror on the set.

Mark hesitated for a moment, then sighed. "Nothing much is going on."

"I don't believe that for a second." She stood, a defiant look on her face. "If there's nothing going on, why have you neglected meeting me at the coffee shop all this week?"

"I don't want anyone to see us. I want people to lose interest in the idea of us being together.....I just want this whole scandal to be over."

So Eun paused for a second, then turned back to face the mirror. "I see..." Something in her tone sounded disappointed, but Mark wasn't sure.

Wait a minute, of course I'm sure. Jinyoung told me she's completely fallen for me and that's why she's so-

There he was thinking about Jinyoung again.

"I-if the director needs me, tell him I just went to the bathroom." The blonde mumbled, not waiting for a response as he quickly made his way to the nearest restroom.

Mark enclosed himself in one of the stalls, leaning against the wall. He ran a hand through his hair and instantly regretted it since the stylists will probably yell at him for messing up their work.

Mark's mind was filled with thoughts of Jinyoung. Jinyoung's eye-creasing smile, his deep laugh, his adorable accent while speaking English, the taste of his lips... The blonde's stomach began churning when his thoughts instantly shifted to the day Jinyoung came back to the dorm, angry out of the blue.

Why was he suddenly so jealous? Why didn't he talk to Mark before if he was feeling uncomfortable with the scandal? Mark could have easily kissed away all his jealousies and reassured the vocalist that the only person he saw was him, so why?

Then his thoughts shifted again. What if he hurt Jinyoung's feelings when he stopped going to him for help on his scene and line work? What if he never forgives him?

Stop it Mark, don't think that way.

Even with his conscious telling him otherwise, Mark couldn't help but think that way.

Then there was that day at the fansign. Jinyoung had seemed awfully close to Jackson, which made Mark's chest tighten in the worst way possible. He felt anger towards Jackson, hurt by Jinyoung, and jealous of the closeness between the two. That could have been him offering his shoulder for Jinyoung. That could have been him comforting the thing he cares about most in the entire world. That could have been him, but it wasn't. Why? Mark tried to convince himself it was Jinyoung's fault.

That wasn't working very well for him.

---

"Hey Jinyoung hyung, Jaebum and I were gonna go buy some more dog food for Coco. Do you wanna come?" Youngjae asked hesitantly, barely taking a step instead the other male's room since he already knew the answer.

"I'll pass, sorry." Jinyoung said softly, not removing his gaze from the open book in his hands.

"Okay.. Well we'll see you later then." Youngjae sent him a smile, though the older didn't receive it since he wasn't paying attention. Giving up, the lead vocalist turned and left the room.

Jinyoung sighed and put his book down. He knew Youngjae was just trying to get him to come out of his room for once so he could cheer up, but Jinyoung just couldn't bring himself to.

The ravenette laid down, curling himself up under his blanket and frowning. For an instant, Jinyoung pictured Mark's arms around him, pulling him close to his chest. The thought made Jinyoung's eyes sting, threatening to tear up.

For the nth time this week, Jinyoung labeled himself as 'pathetic.' He knew he had overreacted about Mark meeting up with his acting partner to go over scenes. He knew he was being dramatic and stupid and that he let his jealousy get the better of him. He knew that Mark would never cheat on him, that Mark was nothing less than loyal and trustworthy and genuine and caring and sweet and loving and adorable, so goddamn adorable...

Crap, now he really was crying.

Between (what he saw as) pathetic sobs, Jinyoung reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. His fingers subconsciously brought him to Mark's contact, opening the thread of texts between the two.

You can fix this right now, Jinyoung. Just say you want to talk to him later so you can apologize. It's as easy as that.

Jinyoung managed to type out a measly word, "Hyung," before pausing. His fingers refused to type any more. Mark was currently filming. He was busy, probably having a bunch of fun. He was also with her. She was probably laughing at everything he said, flirting with her eyes, jumping at any opportunity to perform casual skinship. They might have even been kissing at that exact moment. For the scene, of course. Well- hopefully for the scene.

I'm completely pathetic. If anything ends up happening between them, it's all my fault.

Jinyoung just couldn't bring himself to finish the text.

---

The other Got7 members had had enough.

"Why me?" Jinyoung asked grumpily as he was pushed toward the front door of the dorm.

"Because someone has to get groceries for dinner." Jaebum sighed. "You've been locked up in your room for over a week, don't you think it's your turn to do some chores around the dorm?"

"Can't I at least get someone to come with me? This is a long list." Jinyoung grunted with annoyance.

"I think everyone's busy. Everyone... except Mark hyung!"

The blonde poked his head out of his room upon hearing his name called. "What about me?"

"You're gonna go grocery shopping with Jinyoung." Jaebum explained, like it was the simplest thing in the world.

Mark froze, his gaze flickering to Jinyoung. They made eye contact briefly before Mark turned away, glancing at JB. "I-I..uh, I was actually just about to take a quick nap. Is there no one else who can go?"

"Let's see.. Jackson and I are gonna go down to practice for a bit, and Yugyeom and Bambam are cleaning up around here because we're probably gonna do a dorm broadcast soon. Oh, and Youngjae is gonna give Coco a bath-"

"I can give Coco a bath," Mark quickly chimed in, "so then Youngjae can go with J-" The blonde cleared his throat. "Jinyoung."

"Oh, that's okay hyung. I really don't mind giving our little princess a bath!" Youngjae smiled, picking up the small dog and holding it close to his chest.

"It's decided then!" Jaebum pushed Mark toward the door, barely giving the rapper a chance to get his shoes on completely before he pushed the two members out of the dorm. "Have fun!" He called before the door shut behind them.

The air was very tense.

Neither of them moved. Mark stole a glance at the male next to him, but Jinyoung kept his eyes focused on the grocery list.

"L-let's go, I guess." Jinyoung finally said, taking the first step.

"O-oh, yeah..." Mark followed, feeling stupid for some reason.

They walked in silence down the less-crowded streets. If someone were to walk by them, they'd be able to feel the uncomfortable atmosphere in an instant.

Mark had a sudden urge to reach for Jinyoung's hand, but it was currently occupied with the shopping list. The action probably wouldn't be welcomed anyway, Mark thought with a sad realization.

After what seemed like forever, the two finally made it to the grocery store.

Without giving Mark a chance to speak, the vocalist ripped the list in two and gave one of the halves to him. "We'll split up so it goes faster."

"Oh, okay." Mark couldn't help but notice that Jinyoung refused to meet his gaze.

---

Jinyoung sifted through all the different bags of rice. There were so many different brands; it was hard to tell which was the best deal with the greatest value.

Grocery shopping had always eased Jinyoung's mind. His motherly instincts kicked in when he went to the store, only thinking about the best way to keep his fellow members healthy and well-fed.

Just when he was beginning to feel more at peace with himself and his surroundings, however, he heard a sharp, young voice yell "Watch out!"

A kid, no older than 12, came flying by on a scooter right in front of Jinyoung, causing the vocalist to lose his balance because of the close proximity and fall backwards. Fortunately, someone's strong arms were there to catch him before he made a complete fool out of himself.

Someone's strong, familiar arms.

"Jeez, what type of parents let their kid go riding around on a scooter in a grocery store?"

Jinyoung tensed at the low-toned voice and pulled away from the source. "T-thanks, hyung." The younger eventually brought himself to glance up at Mark's face, regretting it when he noticed the older looking right back at him with a sad expression. "W-what are you doing in this isle, anyway?"

Mark pointed to the bags of rice Jinyoung had been previously looking through.

"But rice is on my half of the list.." Jinyoung began, stepping closer to glance at Mark's half. "Jaebum must have listed it twice accidentally."

"Yeah, he must have." Mark mumbled with a tone that made Jinyoung look at him again. "Jinyoung, I think we should talk."

The dark-haired male tensed again, the grip on his shopping basket noticeably tighter than before. "Y-yeah..."

"I-I know the scandal was making you uncomfortable and I completely understand tha-"

"Oppa?"

Mark and Jinyoung froze, both of their hearts sinking.

"It is you!" So Eun rushed over to the two idols, a huge grin on her face. "That's so funny we bumped into each other, oppa. I was just thinking about you!"

"Oppa?" Jinyoung questioned under his breath, hating the way it sounded. His grip on the handles of the basket became even tighter, if that was possible.

"So Eun...hello." Mark tried not to seem disappointed at the sudden appearance. He sent a worried glance toward Jinyoung, who was looking right back at him with an unreadable expression.

"What's up? I know we see each other during filming a lot, but how come you never text me back?" The actress pouted playfully. "You can't keep leaving me hanging, oppa."

"Oh, sorry. I've just been...busy." Mark claimed, only partly lying. He had been busy, but even in his free moments he'd usually neglect her texts.

"I bet you have been. It must be tough having both a filming schedule and idol schedule at the same time! It's really admirable that you keep it all organized." She smiled, glancing at Jinyoung. "Oh hey Jinyoung! You left early last time we got together, was everything alright?"

"O-oh, yes everything was just fine." Jinyoung answered softly, nodding.

"Wait, you two got together?" Mark chimed in, this being the first he'd heard of the news.

"Yep! We met for coffee a little over a week ago. We chatted. It was nice, wasn't it Jinyoung?"

"Very..." Jinyoung replied, smiling halfheartedly.

"Ah, I see." Was all Mark said, throwing another glance in the vocalist's direction.

There was a pause. If So Eun noticed the tense mood, she didn't say anything.

"So Eun.." Mark began, risking another tentative glance toward the male beside him. Jinyoung wasn't looking, instead turning his attention back to the bags of rice on the shelf. "About you and I-"

"I already know. You want nothing to do with me, right?" So Eun had downcast her gaze, her arms crossing in front of her chest.

"It's not that, I just..." Mark stopped to clear his throat. "I know how you feel about me. I'm flattered, really, and you're a great actress and friend who's supported me since the beginning. The thing is," Mark brought a hand up to scratch the back of his neck nervously, "I'm already...in love with someone else."

The blonde heard the intake of breath from both Jinyoung and So Eun. He felt his cheeks redden a bit. Mark wanted to make things right between him and the younger, and this seemed to be the best way. Mark had never told Jinyoung that he loved him, not to mention told anyone else.

The vocalist, who had previously averted his attention back to groceries, now stood upright again, his eyes wide as they stared at Mark. The blonde felt the intense gaze on him but didn't look up from the floor, too embarrassed to face Jinyoung.

"You're....in love with someone else..." So Eun muttered to herself as if trying to get it to sink in. "W-who?" She asked quietly, not sure if she even wanted to hear the answer. Before Mark had a chance to speak again, the actress cut him off, "Never mind, I don't mean to into your personal life." She smiled gently, but there was definitely a sadness hidden behind her expression.

Mark hadn't thought she would take the news so well, but he was grateful, nonetheless.

"That must be why you hated the scandal so much. I understand.." So Eun laughed awkwardly then cleared . "Well, I think I should get back home..."

So Eun turned to leave but Mark was quicker, grabbing her wrist gently. The actress seemed to be on the brink of tears when she turned back to Mark in confusion. The blonde pulled So Eun in to his chest, hugging her. "I'm sorry. Thank you for being so understanding."

When Mark pulled away from the hug, So Eun was smiling despite the tears that stained her cheeks. "G-good luck with...." She paused, then glanced over at Jinyoung with a knowing expression.

Confused and a little panicked, the rapper leaned in closer and whispered, "How did you know?"

So Eun just wiped her tears and smiled, "It's so obvious, I'm surprised I didn't realize it before. Sorry for interfering." She gave a small bow, her heel, and was gone.

Mark felt relief hit him like a wave at high-tide. He cleared up a sticky situation far easier than he thought he would, and now he could just focus on making it up to Jinyou-

Oh yeah, Jinyoung.

Mark froze, too scared to turn around. He felt a gaze bore into him, sending chills up his spine.

"Hyung-" he heard the familiar voice behind him begin and then pause. Mark couldn't decipher the tone of Jinyoung's voice, making him even more on edge than he was before.

Was Mark moving too fast? They really hadn't been dating very long, surely Jinyoung doesn't feel the same way? How could Mark have gone and just blurted that out?

"Mark," Jinyoung addressed him again, this time without the honorific, "turn around." Despite him being younger, he didn't seem to have any difficulty giving the blonde an order.

Mark felt like running away. He had already faced one of his fears tonight, there was no way he was prepared to face another.

"Mark."

Mark turned to Jinyoung, the firm tone of the younger's voice causing him to give in. "J-Jinyoung, about what I s-said-"

"You idiot." Mark looked up at this, searching the dark-haired male's face for some type of disgust. Instead, however, he found Jinyoung's cheeks wet with tears. "You idiot..." He repeated, bringing his head down and wiping his wet eyes with his sleeve.

Mark's legs moved on their own, bringing himself right in front of Jinyoung. "Jinyoung.." He moved the male's hands away from his face so Mark could inspect it further. He brought his own hands to the younger's face and wiped the tears away with his thumbs. "I'm s-sorry that I...said that..."

"You idiot!" Jinyoung repeated again, holding onto Mark's hands to stop him from drying his face. "Why are you apologizing?"

The question caught Mark off guard. Why was he apologizing? Well because Jinyoung was crying and it was all his fault. "B-because I said something I shouldn't have and-"

"You idiot," seemed to be the only thing Jinyoung knew how to say anymore, except this time, he said it under his breath while a smile made its way to his face. "Don't apologize for something stupid like that."

Mark was confused, yet again. Noticing this confusion painted all over the older's face, Jinyoung continued.

"I'm not crying because of So Eun or because I didn't like something you said," Jinyoung brought Mark's hands away from his face and smiled, lacing their fingers together. "I'm crying because I'm happy."

Mark wasn't expecting that.

"I love you too, hyung."

Mark wasn't expecting that either.

Jinyoung laughed at Mark's dumbfounded expression and had to give in to the irresistible urge to kiss it. He quickly pecked the blonde's cheek, enjoying how Mark's face gradually shifted from shocked to excited. A huge smile formed on his lips, and Jinyoung felt Mark's hands squeezing his tightly.

"Really?! You love me too!?" Mark sounded like a 7 year old who had just found out they're going to DisneyWorld. Jinyoung couldn't help but laugh as he nodded, squeezing the older's hands back.

"And you're-" Mark looked a little uncertain, "you're not still upset about So Eun..?"

Jinyoung shook his head, frowning a bit. "I'm not. I'm sorry I got so jealous. It was immature of me. I just..." The vocalist blushed softly, averting his gaze. "I-I just wanted you all to myself."

Jinyoung felt himself getting pulled by his hands toward the front of the store, the forgotten shopping baskets left behind them. Mark pulled his boyfriend outside, bringing him around the corner and onto an unpopular street. "I don't want any fans to see me doing this." Mark explained as he leaned in and captured Jinyoung's lips with his own.

The kiss was deep, filled with love. Jinyoung moved his lips in sync with Mark's immediately, holding on tightly to the older's hands.

"I love you." Mark muttered between kisses, causing Jinyoung to smile against his lips.

"I love you too."

---

"We're back!" Jinyoung yelled when Mark and him entered the dorm.

"Finally! God, what took you guys so long?" Bambam complained, looking up from where he sat on the couch.

"Where are the groceries?" Jaebum asked curiously when he came out of his room to greet them. He seemed a little sweaty, since Jackson and him had probably just returned from practicing.

Mark and Jinyoung looked at their leader with blank expressions, then glanced at each other. Mark couldn't contain his smile, causing Jinyoung to follow suit.

"Ah, I see. Well it's good you guys made up, but how the hell are we supposed to make dinner now!?"

Mark and Jinyoung couldn't help but laugh, looking at each other with so much adoration it would make anyone sick.

Jaebum just rolled his eyes, a knowing expression on his face. Mark and Jinyoung hadn't told any of the members about their relationship, but they all still knew about it. It was clear as day how much the two cared about each other, and the constant occasions where both would disappear from the group said it all.

Unable to witness the sickening display in front of him anymore, Jaebum turned around and made his way back to his room.

Looks like they were gonna order takeout tonight.
