Special Connection

Undeniable Chemistry

(nine years ago, 2006)

It was New Years Eve. The day of celebration and love for the end of year, letting go of all the bad memories and opening up more space for the new memories. For most, it's the time where you spend with your family and friends. For some, it's the time where you sit down and start writing down your resolutions. Making promises to yourself and others on how you're going to change for the better starting tomorrow. That's how usually the day is spent for everyone.

For the people who are in the entertainment industry in South Korea? It's the time for glory and awards. Actors and actresses who have worked hard for their dramas are in one huge room together with their fans up on the balcony, watching as which nominees are announced winners. With their hopes on high and their eyes watching awards being given out, people couldn't help but feel a bit greedy for one.

The night has just began as everyone took their assigned seats and greeted one another, sending messages of I hope you win across the room or it's okay if I don't win. But we all know that it's just false messages for some people. The table in the middle is usually for the drama that made it big of the year. The one that sent fans screaming, the one that sent viewership swarming high. And that drama for the year of 2006 was 'Goong'. With their hands clapping as they watched and listened to the MCs talking, they were the big stars of the night.

Ji Hyo put her hands together as the first category was being called, Best New Actor and Best New Actress. She glanced over to Ji Hoon, who looked over at her - silently sending a wink to her. A smile spread across her face as she turned back over to the stage. The drama ended on March and they both felt an attraction that they couldn't get rid of. Eventually, Ji Hyo and Ji Hoon decided to date on April and have been together since then.

"Yes, the winner for Best Actor and Actress are..." the sound of music playing in the background appeared for five seconds before the MC tore off the envelope and read the names. "Yoon Eun Hye-ssi and Joo Ji Hoon-ssi! Congratulations!"

Both Eun Hye and Ji Hoon covered their faces from complete shock as they stood up and got hugged by Ji Hyo and their other co-stars from the drama. Ji Hyo sneakily grabbed hold of Ji Hoon's hands as he walked up the stage with Eun Hye, getting ready to receive their award and make their speeches.

As Ji Hyo sat back down, she couldn't help but smile with full proud and happiness spreading across her face. She never cared about the glory or fame, acting is a passion of hers that she is willing to do because it's an experience worth remembering. She's just so happy for people she cared about get the recognition they deserved. Ji Hyo turned back around to watch as the fans of the drama shout out in joy. Her smile vanished when she caught a young fan holding onto baby as she jumped up and down. Her eyes adverted over to her own stomach, remembering what she found out just last night.

She is pregnant. She carefully looked up over at Ji Hoon, who finished his speech with promising to do better and come back with another drama soon. What will his reaction be? Heck, she doesn't even know how she feels herself about this. What is she going to do?

. . .

The night soon ended and Ji Hyo quietly got into Ji Hoon's van without being noticed from everyone outside. She has to tell him tonight, he has the right to know about this baby. From the window, she watched as Ji Hoon and Eun Hye bid farewell to each other as the fans huddled around them. "Goodnight and thank you everyone!" Ji Hoon screamed out as he got into the van, making sure he only opened it a little bit so they wouldn't see his girlfriend. As soon as the door closed, Ji Hoon exhaled deeply and looked at his award proudly. "Ji Hyo, look at this. My first acting award."

Ji Hyo smiled. "It's great."

"I'm going to work even harder to get more of these," he turned to briefly look at her before turning back to his award. "These are going to be like my babies. I'm going to have a lot and show everyone that Joo Ji Hoon isn't one to mess with!"

Babies, what a way to describe an award during this kind of situation. "Babies?" Ji Hyo felt nervous. How is she supposed to tell someone that he is about to be a father? "Ji Hoon.."

Ji Hoon yawned out loud as he instructed his manager to drive home. "Shhh, don't talk. I'm tired." He pulled his seat down and looked at her. "Do you know how many people I had to greet in there? That's ridiculous."

"They were our sunbaes, Ji Hoon." Ji Hyo was totally caught off guard by the change of personality in him. This isn't the guy that she dated for nine months. It's as if his behavior changed as soon as his hands touched the award. "Get up, I need to talk to you."

"Can't we talk at my house?" He asked with his eyes closed while yawning again. "Just sleep, Ji Hyo-ah."

Her eyes furrowed together in frustration. "Joo Ji Hoon!"

Without much of a choice, Ji Hoon pulled his seat up and stared at her. "What is so important then? What did you want to talk about? Huh?"

Ji Hyo's eyes went left and right as she was trying to find the right words to explain the situation she's in. "How do you feel about babies?"

"Got one right here," Ji Hoon said with a huge smile as he tapped the award. "You should get one soon but let's improve your acting first." He exhaled as he thought about how she didn't win an award tonight. "Maybe we should get you another acting coach."

Ignoring his comment, she exhaled. "I'm pregnant." There you go, that's how you break the news. Just straight out of nowhere.

Ji Hoon stopped smiling and glared his eyes at her. "Stop joking, it's not funny."

"I'm not." Ji Hyo argued back. "I found out last night. I wanted to call you but you kept insisting on practicing your winning speech without anyone bothering you." She opened her purse and took out the positive pregnancy test. "Here."

Slapping her hand away as a natural reaction, the pregnancy test flew over to her side of the car. "Don't put that lie near me!"

"Lie? Why would I lie to you?" Ji Hyo asked, completely bewildered by his reaction. She had imagined on how he would react a thousand times in her head but this...this wasn't one of them. She expected him to be taken by surprise or even speechless but by framing her as a liar? This isn't what she wanted to happen or even hear from her own ears. "I'm saying the truth."

Ji Hoon shook his head furiously as his eyes look at the test in horror. "We only...it was only twice!" Really? This is what he is complaining about right now? Ji Hyo ran her hands down her hair, getting ready to tie it into a bun when Ji Hoon suddenly screamed at his driver. "Stop the car! STOP IT!" He picked up the test, pushing it into her purse again and handing it back roughly. "Let's say you are pregnant, you could be mistaken - it's definitely a scare. I'm not someone who wants to be a father. I'm not even ready!" Ji Hoon jumped out of his seat and over to Ji Hyo's side of the car, opening the door. "Get out, I need to breathe and I can't do it with you here. Go home and make sure it's a scare, okay? I've told you before that I don't want to be a father because I have fame to look forward to, NOT diapers!"

Ji Hyo couldn't believe what she was hearing from him. "And what if it isn't a scare? What am I supposed to do?" She closed the door, refusing to leave. "We're going to have to deal with it!"

He exhaled deeply. "Look, Ji Hyo. We've had a nice nine months ride together. It was fun. But I'm telling you, it's just a scare. Don't go around and say such things to a man because you're only going to ruin his life."

"What? Ruin your life?" Ji Hyo repeated in disgust.

Ji Hoon opened the door again. "Go!"

"It's the highway!" She screamed as the cars pass by with full speed. "You're going to force me out here?!"

"Just go home and find out, okay? Simple as that. I'm not fit to deserve such a bad thing to happen to me. And I mean, what about you? Don't you want to keep working and be on top in this world? We can do it together! Think about it." He picked up his award and pushed it toward her. "You can hold one of these one day! You can be someone known for your acting. Not someone who got pregnant young and is ruined. No one wants that."

Ji Hyo narrowed her eyes at him. "Even if I were to have this baby, I'm not going to let it ruin me. I'll work hard. I'm twenty-six, they won't consider that to be young. They'll understand."

Ji Hoon refused to listen to her any longer. "Then we're over because I want nothing to do with this thing inside of you. Watch when you go home and it's only a scare, everything will be forgiven and we can be back together."

"Everything will be forgiven?" She repeated while slamming the award back onto his lap. "Do you hear yourself? If you didn't want this baby, there are a lot more words to say it nicer." But he didn't even give her a chance to say anything further because he pushed her off the chair and out of the van with lightening speed. "YA! JOO JI HOON!" She watched in horror and complete disappointment as he closed the door shut and the van drove off - leaving her right smack on the middle of the highway.

. . .

Weeks passed and she waited for Ji Hoon to call her to at least explain his behavior that night. As she stayed home in confusion and sadness, she watched as his face was everywhere on the television. From commercials to interviews, he was proudly smiling on air as if nothing important is going on behind the cameras. She didn't get it. The Ji Hoon that she dated for months would always say how important it is to stay true to yourself no matter. Don't let the fame get you, it'll only cause harm. Those were his exact words. Was he lying to her all along? Who is the real Joo Ji Hoon? When another week went by, her parents came by with worried expressions on their faces. She didn't want the two people that she cared so much about to worry about her. Not only has she failed her parents but she failed herself. She got tricked by a man, thinking they were in love with each other and nothing else matter. Well, she is definitely wrong.

"Ji Hyo-ah," she turned away from the television and over to her mom. It's as if she becomes a child when she sees her parents because she immediately broke down into tears. "Aigoo, my daughter.."

"Omma, I don't know what to do." Ji Hyo said with her lips quivering. Her arms wrapped around her mom. "Why is he doing this?"

Her father slammed the tv remote onto the table after turning it off. "If I meet that jerk, I will crush him into pieces."

"Appa..." Ji Hyo looked at him. She has always worried about disappointing him the most. He expected her to be the good child, the oldest of the family - to be wise and do what you love. That's what he taught her and now look at this mess that she caused. "I'm sorry."

"Sorry?" He shook his head as he sat on the other side of Ji Hyo. "My little pumpkin, there is nothing to be sorry about. We will get through this together as a family. That's what is important in this world. Family and love.

Since that day, Ji Hyo has made the decision to keep the baby. She isn't going to let one man who is indecisive ruin her life. She understood why he is like this - he is just scared and he is young. She won't get in his way of the fame is trying to reach.

"I'm not pregnant," she said over the phone. "It was a scare." She knew lying was wrong but he is getting what he wanted. To not be a father and she can go on with her life. "You were right."

Ji Hoon exhaled with a smile. "I told you. It probably took weeks for the stupid pregnancy to actually tell the truth. Alright, want to go watch a movie? I'm in the mood for something funny. I'll be over there in five."

"We're over." Ji Hyo interrupted him. "I don't want to see or ever speak to you again." With her hand clenching onto her stomach, she realized that she was actually crying over him again. She fell for the wrong person - who knew love could cause so much pain. If she knew this was what love was like, she would've blocked her heart more. Lesson learned. "I realized that that when you kicked me out of the van, you are someone completely from who I thought all along. I don't know who you are and honestly, I'm kind of scared of you. Just because of something I said, you claimed that I was ruining your life. We could've talked it over but you chose the route that I don't think no man in this world would do but you accomplished to do so." She took a deep breath to control her emotions. "Maybe you and I just don't match."

"Don't be stupid," Ji Hoon replied over the phone. "Being with me right now will be good for you. We can announce that we're dating if you want. If they knew that you and I are dating - not only will you get ton of offers but you will be up on my level."

Wow, he is more full of himself than she thought. "Goodbye, Ji Hoon."

(present)

"He got bigger than he was last month," Dong Wook said as he sat down next to Ji Hyo. "It's hard to remember that he's the same little kid that used to follow me around in the house."

Ji Hyo laughed as she leaned her head onto his shoulder. "He's not like that anymore. Omma said that she took him to the supermarket and he was naming all of the ingredients in the cart. He's growing up so fast," she muttered softly. It's not that she missed out on her son as a baby or the moments growing up, she has been there 100%. Maybe it's the fact that her son is growing up so fast and she isn't going to be able to hide him any longer. The world believes that she is either dating Gary or she is secretly dating someone else. It's neither. Her secret could be worse for some people or could be for the better. She thought back to what recently happened to Jong Kook, his secret wasn't even considered a secret. It's just two people who used to date but the nation just can't seem to accept that.

"Cheon Do Hyun," Dong Wook called out for him. Do Hyun ran over to him, jumping onto his lap with a smile on his face. "Are you that happy to see me?"

"No, I'm happy to see Omma." Do Hyun crawled over to the other side of the couch and sat next to Ji Hyo. "Isn't she beautiful?"

Dong Wook pretended to make gagging noises. "Please, I just ate."

Ji Hyo burst out laughing as Do Hyun stuck out his tongue toward Dong Wook. "Be my little hero!"

"I want to be Commander like Jong Kook Ahjussi!" Do Hyun screamed with his hands next to his mouth as he made a roaring sound.

. . .

Jong Kook looked at the ceiling aimlessly, not knowing how he should feel or what he should do. His eyes glanced over to his phone at the end of the bed. During a time of crisis, who should he call? Is this really a time of crisis though?

He spent ten years living with the guilt of not stopping Eun Hye enough that day. The sorrow and guilt ruined him for weeks. If it weren't for his family and friends, he would've left the entertainment industry and never be seen again. And now, to hear that she was never pregnant in the first place is like a thousand stabs onto his wounds. The past rushed him under seconds, how he remembered that he tore himself up by exercising without stopping, doing shows and albums nonstop because he needed to busy to live on.

Jong Kook grabbed his phone and scrolled through his contacts, there has to be someone that he can talk and just scream his frustrations out to. Jae Suk, he's probably currently filming for Happy Together since today's filming for RM was cancelled. Suk Jin, he's probably busy with his own family. Gary, too busy recording his next album with Gil. Kwang Soo, is probably going over his movie script that he wanted to do all week. Haha's name appeared and just as he was about to make the call, he suddenly remembered that Haha is busy with the construction of another restaurant he's opening. His eyes scanned through the list - most of his friends are in America for a trip and the others are either busy with filming or recording.

His eyes stopped on Ji Hyo's name on his phone, Miss Ace. The last time they texted each other was last week but that was when she was going through stress and he wanted to help ease it for her. He doesn't usually text her. Would it seem out of the blue if he did now? Jong Kook checked the time and saw that there's only another hour until the premiere episode of her drama. She has to be done with filming right now. Shaking his head, he threw the phone over to the end of the bed and exhaled deeply.

. . .

Ji Hyo stood by the kitchen doorway as she watched her family and Dong Wook huddle around the television to watch the premiere episode of the drama. Of course, her parents weren't really excited about the fact that they have to see Ji Hoon on their screen but seeing their daughter is much more important. Her eyes adverted over to Do Hyun, he was biting onto his food as he kept looking up, not wanting to miss a single moment.

Her phone beeped. Ji Hyo, you need to come into filming at three. There are some late filming that they need you to finish. I'll pick you up at two. Have fun and tell him I said hi. She closed her eyes once she checked the time. It's currently eight, she has six hours left until she heads straight into filming. "Omma, I'm going to buy more snacks for Do Hyun. I'll be right back." Not wanting to leave the house without buying something for him, she grabbed Dong Wook's car keys.

. . .

People usually say that exercise eases stress and it really does. When Jong Kook feels stressed or tired to the point he can't do anything - he heads straight to the gym for hours. Doing anything possible to get everything off his mind. But for anger, it's different. If he exercises his anger out, it'll only caused him to be even more angry. That's why maybe walking around his neighborhood is much better for him.

His neighbors has seen him so much that they're not even surprise to see a star around the sidewalk anymore. A simple greeting is exchanged between them and off he goes. He loves it. The fresh air and the nice blowing wind, it soothes his mind and emotions. Somehow, maybe his anger is a lot more higher than he thought because he made it all the way over to the port. Jong Kook exhaled and looked out toward the view. If life could be as simple as this, he would've loved that.

"Hyung?" Jong Kook turned around in surprise to see Ji Hyo standing behind him with a plastic bag in her hand. "What are you doing out here?"

"Ji Hyo?" He looked around the location, did he walk around too much and ended up in Mapo? "Shouldn't I be the one asking you this? What are you doing in Anyang?"

Ji Hyo cleared as she walked over to him. "I'm visiting my parents."

"Oh," Jong Kook simply replied before sitting on one of the benches. "Why aren't you at home watching your drama?"

She narrowed her eyes at him. "Why aren't you?"

He laughed and forgot that she was strict on how the members should watch her dramas. "Don't worry, I'm recording it." He stopped and thought about how he just laughed - his first laughter in hours, all day practically.

"Alright, let's get straight to the point." Ji Hyo demanded as she put down the plastic bag and sat next to him. "What's wrong?"

Jong Kook blinked in surprise. "What do you mean?"

"I'm not stupid. I can tell that there is something wrong when I see a big man like you standing at the edge of the port, staring out into the water." Ji Hyo looked through the plastic bag and handed him a piece of candy. "Did something happen?"

He twirled the candy around. "How much sugar does this thing have?" One slap from Ji Hyo on his arm immediately made his unwrap the candy and put it inside his mouth. "Thanks." He exhaled deeply and shrugged his shoulders. "It's hard to say.."

"Is it about Eun Hye-ssi?" Ji Hyo asked. The night from the dinner party still goes through her mind once a while. She can't seem to forget about what she heard from Eun Hye. The fact that she was the one that exposed their dating past to the nation and using it as a ploy to get back together with him. Did Jong Kook found out about it? She blinked several times to gather her thoughts as she chewed on the candy. "She came and visit you?"

"How did you know?" Jong Kook wondered.

"Lucky guess?"

He simply inhaled and exhaled a couple of times before he looked up at the dark sky. "You know how you shared your opinion about love to me that night?" He could see her nodding her head from the corner of his eyes. "My opinion about love has always been finding the right one and you know that. But love is something between two people, it should be connected in some sort of special way."  He closed his eyes as memories of his time with Eun Hye rushed through his head. "But when that connection is broken and there is nothing for you to do - you forget about it or at least you try to."

"She must've broken your heart real bad." Ji Hyo said softly as she thought back to her own memories with Ji Hoon. "You're right. When the special connection between two people gets broken and there is no going back - it's hard to forget about it." She handed him another piece of candy while popping another one into . "Especially when the connection that you thought you had was a complete lie. You spend months or even years with one person, thinking you know them very well . The stories, secrets, smiles, laughter, and even tears that you shared with them - it all ends up into a pile of nothing."

"He must've broken your heart real bad." Jong Kook repeated the same thing to her. Although he doesn't know who exactly it was that broke Ji Hyo's heart but he could sense that her pain is just like his pain. "Maybe that's why it's harder for us to find love again. We've been torn enough that we're too scared to open our hearts for another person."

"Not you," Ji Hyo concluded. "You're the one that's always talking about how you want to find the right one, find your true love. At least you cured your heartbreak."

Jong Kook thought about what she said for a few seconds. "Have I really?" He ran a hand through his hair as he thought back to the blind dates and brief ex-girlfriends that he had. "No matter how much I try and speak about how powerful love really is, I still end up thinking about her." He closed his eyes and folded his hands together. "I don't think about what ifs, it's more like the past memories still gets me. Sometimes I can be alone in one room and then I think about what I used to do with her or what we shared together. The effect that she gave me, did I really get over my heartbreak? Am I just purposely blocking my heart without myself knowing it for ten years?"

Ji Hyo watched at how tight his hands were holding onto each other. She grabbed onto his hand, holding it with hers to relax him a bit. She could tell that he was overthinking everything and worrying about things that he shouldn't be. "You both didn't break up mutually, did you?" She has watched enough interviews of him these past days to figure it out. The way he eyes shifted around, the way he kept running his hands though his hair, and even the way he was forcefully smiling - she could tell that he was lying.

He shook his head. "I'm not sure who actually broke up with who." Jong Kook thought about how he tried to hold onto her hand, silently pleading for her to stay and how she just walked away as a reply. "She broke up with me."

"Was it a breakup that was forthcoming?" She could feel Jong Kook's hand relaxing from the hold. He's feeling better as he talked about it to someone. "Did she say something or did anything that was out of character?"

Jong Kook cleared his throat. "No, everything was fine. It was fine for two years and then one day just crushed it all." He turned and looked at her straight in the eyes. "It was our second year anniversary and she announced that she was pregnant." Ji Hyo dropped his hand without knowing as she sat in shock. "She went on and on about how the baby could ruin her life and that she was too young to have it. I mean, I understood where she was coming from but my own selfishness to have a baby overcame me. We were arguing about her decision to take care of it. And in a blink of an eye, she just left." He exhaled as he watched Ji Hyo's expression. "I spent ten years with guilt in myself for not stopping her enough. I never hated her. In my head, I kept saying that what was done is done. But I could never forgive her for it. That's how I was for ten years." He chewed onto the candy as he spoke. "To think that she came over today, wanting to be back together and suddenly telling me that all along she was never pregnant. It was only a scare. She never had time to tell me the truth because she was busy preparing for the 'Goong' drama. She kept repeating on and on about how it's a good thing that it was a scare. Insisting on that she and I could be together and actually have a baby now."

"Do you want to be back with her?"

Jong Kook could only utter out a laugh. "No," he pointed over to his heart. "I'm too scared to."

Honestly, Ji Hyo was speechless. How could she and Jong Kook be alike in so many ways? She knew that they both were considered as tough people due to their characters on the show. She knew that they both shared similar thoughts about how important family is. But the idea that he experienced almost the same situation a year before she had is crazy. Despite the situations having different results, it's still baffling to hear something like this from someone else. "If she was pregnant and had kept the baby without telling you, what would happen?"

"That would be crazy," Jong Kook replied. "It's one thing to say it's a scare but to actually keep the baby away from me? That's wrong. A parent always has the right to know if they have a child whether they like it or not."

Ji Hyo could only laugh. "That would be crazy, huh?" She looked over to the water, watching as small waves splash against the ledge. "To actually keep the baby in secret from someone who never wanted it in the first place."

"I wanted the baby," Jong Kook corrected her. "It doesn't matter anyways, she wasn't pregnant in the first place." He stopped chewing on the candy and looked at Ji Hyo. "Why did you get confused?"

"Confused?" Ji Hyo cleared as she grabbed another piece of candy. "It's just confusing to hear all of this, I got mixed up with the details." She hated lying so much. "How come you never hated her? She left you."

Jong Kook shrugged his shoulders. "It took a few years for me to finally understand why she felt the way she did. She was only twenty-one at the time and I was twenty-nine. Maybe that was when the eight year difference carried into our relationship. She wanted to live out her young life and build a career while I was ready for a family without hesitation. We were opposites. Sure, if she was pregnant, the baby was definitely unplanned. During that fight, I realized that even if it was unplanned - I would jump into the idea of having a baby while she kept refusing the mere thought of having one. Family is important to me and the idea of taking care of "it" because of your own selfishness was too much for me. It was a betrayal. But as I got older and I continued to hear about how much she is gaining through glory and fame, I realized that it's not something to hate her for." He exhaled while fidgeting with his hands. "She got to build the career she wanted, she got to experienced things that she was supposed to at her age. Having a baby would've paused everything for her like she said. It's hard to hate someone when they were an innocent soul themselves during the time." Jong Kook stopped talking and realized that he can't blame her for not telling him about the scare. At the same time, she was a young woman who was excited about having her first drama and thoughts get carried away most of the time.

Was Joo Ji Hoon an innocent soul himself back then? Ji Hyo thought back to the time they spent together and how he acted like a child sometimes in their relationship. Sometimes it was even hard to communicate with him even if they were only a year apart. But then the memories of how he ditched her on the middle of the highway, how he never called her to ask if she was okay afterwards, how he spoke to her when she lied to him about the baby being only a scare. No, Ji Hoon was never an innocent soul to begin with. It's as if he was two different people that night. Someone like him wouldn't be called innocent, he would've been called a ton of negative things if anyone were to know his true personality. Her eyes narrowed at the ground, suddenly nothing made sense anymore. The guy she knew, he was kind and sweet with his words. The guys she found out that night, he was rude and extremely full of himself with a mixture of selfishness. Who is the guy that she has been working with now? It has been a week and a half into filming for their drama and she has seen neither of those two personalities in him. It's as if he is another total different person right now. From what she has seen, he is a lot more quiet and fidgeting with half of the things he does. Sometimes, he was yelled at by the director for being so clumsy and forgetful with his words. The confident Ji Hoon wouldn't be able to handle mistakes like that. What kind of game is Joo Ji Hoon playing?

"Ji Hyo!" Jong Kook called her name for the third time. "Mong Ji!"

She blinked back to reality and stared over at him. "I'm sorry."

He carefully examined her face. "Do you feel okay? Your phone beeped like four times. You didn't hear it?"

"My phone?" Ji Hyo searched through the plastic bag and took out her phone, she had four messages from Dong Wook. We have a problem. Answer me.

"Is something wrong?" Jong Kook asked, suddenly worried by the expression on her face.

Without answering him, she read the last message from Dong Wook. Sung Im, you need to come home now! "I have to head back to my parent's house," Ji Hyo stood up from the bench and looked around for a brief second because she doesn't know what is going on. "I think something happened.." Why couldn't Dong Wook send a message telling the facts instead of sending four messages of the same thing - making her extra worried. "I'm sorry, I have to go."

"Do you want me to get my car from my house? I walked here so I don't have it right now." Jong Kook suggested as he stood up, trying to keep Ji Hyo balanced.

"No, I have Dong Wook's car. I can drive." She insisted as she took the car keys from the bag and exhaled deeply to control herself.

"Dong Wook? Lee Dong Wook?" Jong Kook questioned. He looked at the way she was walking back over to the street, without much of a choice he grabbed onto the car keys. "I'll drive."

. . .

Jong Kook parked the car in front of the house that Ji Hyo instructed and watched as she hastily tried to take off the seatbelt but couldn't because she was shaking so much. Leaning over to the passenger side, he unbuckled the seatbelt for her. "Keep calm, Sung Im." It's the only time where he would say her real name. When she isn't acting herself and is a completely mess from a situation she is scared of and being the person she is, she rarely gets scared. This is why it is worrying Jong Kook for some reason.

"Thanks," Ji Hyo said as she jumped out of the car and rushed over to the front door. She could sense that Jong Kook was following her but she didn't have time to stop him from going inside. A lot more things are important right now. She pressed the passcode of the lock and opened the door as soon as it clicked. Her eyes roamed around the house, checking to see if there was anything broken or stolen. There was nothing. Just when she felt calm again, her eyes halted over at the living room.

"Ji Hyo," Ji Hoon muttered out softly with a grin plastered on his face. "Welcome home." She could feel herself losing air. Right in front of her eyes were her parents, huddled over at one side of the couch as they looked up at Ji Hoon with fury in their eyes. Dong Wook was up against the corner, hiding Do Hyun behind him. "I see that you brought company."

Jong Kook appeared from outside and paused when he saw Ji Hoon standing in the middle of the living room with his arms crossed. The expression on his face is a complete 360 degree to how he looked like for the filming of Running Man. If it's even possible but he actually looks scary right now. Jong Kook shifted his attention over to Ji Hyo, who was clenching her fists together as she started straight at Ji Hoon.

"It's Commander!" The sound of a young boy surprised Jong Kook as he watched the little boy appearing out from behind Dong Wook. "It's the Commander!" Just as the kid was about to make his way over to the front door where Ji Hyo and Jong Kook stood, Ji Hoon stepped in front and stopped him.

"Aigoo, what a pretty boy." Ji Hoon said as he brushed Do Hyun's hair aside.

"Joo Ji Hoon." Jong Kook stared at them confusion when everyone with the exception of himself said the actor's name with a strict and careful tone at the same time.

Ji Hoon only managed to chuckle as he stood up and smirked. "It's time." He glared over at Ji Hyo, he could sense that she was about to run in and grab Do Hyun away. With his hands held up as he backed away from the kid. "It's time to take back my son, Song Ji Hyo."

Jong Kook's eyes widened at what he is hearing, what the heck is going on in this house?

I read this story again and I could not help but feel sadness for JK and JH's love story. They love each other but two people are making their life a living hell. When will they ever get the peace they deserve? Dear author, it's been almost two years since the last update, I hope you'll find the motivation to complete the story.
