BACKGROUND.　

it was a beautiful autumn afternoon when a couple in ilsan were blessed with the arrival of their second child, not that long after their first child and son, min garam. their second child was a girl and their parents thought she should be named after the very season that brought her to them. and so, min gaeul opened her eyes to the world on november 14, 2001.

 

garam and gaeul's childhood was pretty normal, with both of their parents working office jobs and making enough money to send their children to good schools and go on vacations. they were inseparable, and basically grew up together since they were close in age as well. even for extracurriculars, they picked similar activities, with garam picking piano and gaeul picking guitar. they were in love with music, and the way their faces shone when they practiced was proof of that.

 

another hobby the min siblings had in common was watching music shows on tv with their father after finishing their homework. and one day, as they were doing exactly that, they came across one program that had five guys that seemed way older than garam and gaeul, standing in a triangular formation, looking absolutely fantastic in their black leather outfits. needless to say, the siblings fell in love. they learned the group name later on, tvxq, and spent most of their free time after school and extracurriculars watching them perform on tv, their eyes bright and sparkly and their overly active minds filled with images of being like them, standing on stage, the audience cheering for them.

 

one night in late 2013, the siblings awoke to the sound of the phone going off, his mother's hushed soprano voice talking and a loud "WHAT?". after that, they were immediately rushed out of their beds and dressed by their father while their mother kept talking frantically into the phone as she got dressed herself. they would find out later that their uncle, the husband of their mother's older sister, had passed away in a car accident. deciding that their sister/sister-in-law shouldn't be alone during a time like this, the siblings' parents made the decision that they'd be moving to live with her for a few months. except, they didn't tell their children where their aunt lived. their aunt had pursued her masters' degree in the united states of america and had met and married a man there, settling in lafayette, louisiana.

 

while the siblings were wary of the place first, they found that the suburbs that their aunt and uncle had lived in were filled with people like them, and they found themselves a good social circle in the school they attended even though they knew close to no english at the start. and as their english improved, they began integrating themselves more and more into their class, even making friends with kids who were of different ethnicities. and while they were looking up extracurriculars, they were introduced to dance.

 

dance opened up the doors of a whole new world for them, and it was a step closer to the dream the siblings had ever since that fateful day in 2008, standing on stage with the audience cheering for them, just like how they'd seen it happen to tvxq on stage. they soaked up everything their instructor taught them, and their instructor repaid them in the form of praise. and long before they knew it, the small dance team of a few people became their second family, and garam and gaeul became the hearts of the said team.

 

and then, after six months, came the time to return home. their aunt decided to move back to south korea with them, to live with her mother and father, which meant that the mins were returning with them. garam and gaeul were devastated, just as they had thought everything was going great, it was being taken away from them. while their friends and dance instructor were upset that they were leaving, it wasn't like they could do anything about it. their dance instructor, however, didn't want the talents of these two to go to waste, so she helped them look up dance studios in ilsan, finding one that would be on the same scale that they could easily attend after school.

 

after their return to ilsan in 2014, garam and gaeul's life went back to normal again. they attended school, went to dance, came back home and did their homework. wash, rinse and repeat. they weren't lonely either, their old childhood friends had learned about what happened and they didn't hold any resentment. it continued this way until 2016.

 

and this is where their stories split up.

 

when gaeul's friends invited her to the lotte department store to go shopping, gaeul agreed. it would be good, she needed new hoodies anyway. after meeting in front of the store, the friends entered happily, immediately going off to look for what they wanted. and as gaeul was searching through the hoodie section, she was approached by a man in a neatly pressed suit. at first, she thought he was an employee and was about to kindly reject his offer, but the man turned out to be a scouter instead. he gave her his card, telling her that he hoped to see her audition as he believed she had what it took.

 

taking the card from the man and thanking him, gaeul flipped it over to read the information written on it.

 

"prism entertainment, est. april 2016."

 

a fairly new company too. gaeul wondered if this could be a scam company, she had heard many horror stories about people being scouted, only to find out it was a scam to get money from them to fund their own shady businesses. she spent the rest of the day practically detached from her own body with her mind running a mile a minute about possible scenarios.

 

and then, garam told their parents he was scouted.

 

gaeul was surprised to hear that, but in a way, she could see it. both siblings were diligent and hardworking, and would make great contenders in the entertainment industry. and so, she decided to tell her parents about her encounter with the scouter as well.

 

"a man approached me at lotte today and gave me his card." she explained, handing the card to her father who also looked at it. "but i've never heard of the company before. do you think it could be a scam?"

 

they were proven wrong when a legit company website came up.

 

their parents' reactions were surprising to the siblings. they thought their parents wouldn't be accepting since idolhood didn't seem like a stable career path. but they were completely accepting, telling them they had known their children wanted to be idols for a long while.

 

"you looked at tvxq as if they created the entire universe and gave it all to you as a gift." was the exact sentence their mother said, and gaeul covered her face in embarrassment, her brother's laughter filling her ears.

 

auditioning had been nerve-wracking to say the least for gaeul. she personally thought she bombed it. so much so that she came home crying and her parents ordered pizza for her to comfort her. garam's audition had gone well and gaeul was happy for her brother. at least that was a good thing. one of them was going to make it.

 

or so she thought. the next morning, gaeul received a call from an unknown number on her way out to meet with her friends again. the call was from prism entertainment, telling her she had been accepted into the company. and this marked the start of min gaeul's journey into idolhood.

 

LIKES.

 anime!  she loves sports animes in particular. her favorites are yuri!!! on ice and haikyuu. she even dyed some parts of her hair blonde once while keeping the rest black because she was inspired by nishinoya. (reference)

 being alone!  gaeul may be a people person, but she also really values her alone time as well and even draws her strength from it.

 block b!  one of her favorite groups alongside tvxq. she's a bbc through and through, and knows all of their songs and fanchants, even the solos. unlike what people may think, however, her bias isn't zico. it's b-bomb.

 cursed memes!  her sense of humor is quite, self-explanatory, cursed. sure, she appreciates a good dad joke, a bad pun or a vine reference, but she loves cursed memes, especially the yeetus the fetus memes.

 coffee!  like her brother garam, gaeul loves coffee. the members of vesper and rendezvous even joke that they have more coffee in their bloodstream than water. she loves all kinds of coffee, except for the too sweet ones.

 dance!  self-explanatory. she likes it so much, she made it her life.

 dogs!  she always wanted pets, but her father is allergic to dog fur so they never let her have one.

 fashion!  her style differs greatly from garam, but it's something gaeul is comfortable in and she thinks it expresses her well.

 khiphop!  her favorite rapper is ash island.

 movies!  action, anime, comedy, drama, horror, romance, it doesn't matter. she likes it all.

 savory stuff!  she's a savory over sweets girl, because both her and her brother have sensitive teeth, so too sweet things make their teeth hurt.

DISLIKES.

 akgaes!  she doesn't get how their minds function. just– what do you get from solo stanning one member of a group? if you support a group, aren't you supposed to support all members equally?

 bugs!  she's not scared of them, in fact, she'll kill them without hesitation. but it's just annoying when they invade her place, especially if she has just cleaned it. she especially hates flying cockroaches, because who in their right mind would give those sewer rats wings?!

 clubs!  she doesn't like the sketchiness of it, fears that her drink might be drugged and that she won't be in control of her own limbs.

 extreme rides!  like roller coasters or the gyro drop. her brother doesn't mind going on them but gaeul absolutely hates them. she usually ends up extremely nauseous afterwards.

 lies!  one of her biggest pet peeves. just be honest with her. it might hurt her but she'll get over it.

 manipulative people!  just no. you and your manipulative, toxic behavior can yeet away from her, she has no place for those types of people in her life.

 mascots!  she developed a dislike after playing five nights at freddy's, their eyes just creep her out for some reason.

 pick me guys/girls!  newsflash folks, this isn't produce 101 or any other survival show. no offense to garam. how about, rather than trying to appear dIfFeReNt from the other people, you just– i don't know, be yourself? and for girls, maybe not put other girls down in an effort to lift yourself up?

 too sweet things!  like tooth-rottingly sweet things, for example: caramel. it makes her already sensitive teeth hurt even more. she does enjoy chocolate though, and doesn't mind the smell of such sweet things, she just can't consume them.

 toxic masculinity!  because apparently some people's masculinity is so fragile that even seeing a beauty blender would shatter it.

 

HABITS.

 crushing!  gaeul is good at hiding crushes but, observant people will notice the subtle hints she gives out like sneaking glances, looking at them after she tells a joke and mirroring their body language at times.

 frustrated/sad!  gaeul is the type to cry when she gets sad or frustrated but hates crying in front of people. so she usually excuses herself when she's feeling sad or frustrated and cries in the privacy of her room.

 holding hands with the members!  while her primary love language isn't physical touch (it's acts of service), she finds comfort in holding the members' hands.

 humming!  gaeul has a habit of humming or straight out singing the songs that are stuck to her head. somebody needs to watch out though, so she doesn't spoil any rendezvous songs.

 reaction queen!  gaeul has an abundance of facial expressions that can fit any type of situation. her more famous reaction memes are those where she has a sassy or smug face on though.

 

HOBBIES.

 composing songs!  she's working on some progressions on her guitar and hopes to compose some songs for rendezvous in the future.

 filming the members!  everybody expresses themselves differently. joohyun, for example, through her good intentions and actions. yeonji expresses herself through her energy and active mindset. gaeul, on the other hand, expresses herself through the vlogs she films of the members on her camera. wherever the members go, gaeul is always filming them, hence the reason she isn't seen on the camera most of the time for rendezvous' vlogs. they're also good souvenirs too, to remind her of all the good times.

 games!  she picked up gaming from a friend in lafayette, who introduced her to strategy games like starcraft. she can't find the time to game as much as she used to, but she does play genshin impact when she can. her current team is shinobu, dendro lumine, xingqiu and kazuha.

 guitar!  she has been playing the guitar since she was 6, and took lessons for 6 years. sometimes she just sits in her room with the guitar in her arms and strums away. she always records what she plays on her phone in case they can be used for future compositions or productions in the future.

 listening to music!  yes.

 online shopping!  mostly makeup and skincare products, but she also enjoys ordering clothes and other stuff online as well. the dorm receives a lot of packages because of her.

 

FEARS.

 atychiphobia (fear of failure)!  probably her biggest fear. she wants to succeed, especially with rendezvous.

 losing her brother!  garam is the most important person in this world to gaeul. he's more than just her brother, he's her other half. she has had nightmares of losing him before and even the mere thought of it is enough to bring her to tears.

 

TALENTS.

 guessing the members from the way they hold her hand!  she holds hands with the members so much that she can recognize the way they hold her hand.

 switching from korean to english on cue!  as her english improves more and more, she eventually starts doing that with the english speakers in prism entertainment.

 

SOCIAL MEDIA.

 one!  prior to becoming a prism entertainment trainee, gaeul's only social media accounts were her facebook and instagram accounts under the names autumn min and @autumnleaves respectively. she closed both accounts after joining prism entertainment.

 two!  after rendezvous' debut, she mainly uses the rendezvous social media accounts. is extremely active on instagram and vlive, and her representative emoji in the captions and vlive titles is how rivées can tell it's her.

 three!  when they are given social media freedom, gaeul starts an instagram account under her former username @autumnleaves. has a very aesthetic feed and posts practice videos, selcas, candid shots of her members and landscape photography.

TRIVIA.

 hanja!  similar to her brother garam, gaeul's name doesn't have hanja characters because it's a native korean name, meaning "autumn". makes sense as to why her english name is autumn.

 clan!  gaeul and her brother garam are from the yeoheung min clan, same as bts' suga and buzz' min kyunghoon.

 education!  like her brother garam, gaeul is also an alumni of hanlim multi arts high school, class of 2020. she was in the applied music department and was classmates with soloist somi and fellow prism entertainment trainee song jinhwa.

 if not an idol!  if not an idol, gaeul would've continued with dance, most likely as a choreographer or a performance director somewhere.

TRAINEE LIFE.　

if you asked her about her experience as an idol, gaeul would say the hardest and the most fun part for her would be training, yes, at the same time. as someone with only prior dance experience and thinking that she bombed her audition, she didn't really know how she managed to be accepted into prism entertainment. with her parents' and brother's belief in her and her trainers' praise, gaeul started really giving her all into practice and making friends, as well as supporting her brother on his own endeavors. and it all paid off in the end, because not only did garam do well, gaeul herself ended up improving more in her dancing and vocals, and having scored a spot in rendezvous, prism entertainment's first ever group.

 

MEDIA PRESENCE.　

the first time gaeul was revealed was during the pre-debut videos of prism ent girls, even though she was behind cameras most of the time, filming away and asking the girls questions to hopefully let the viewers get to know them better. and another time she was revealed was during the filming period of survival show "next level" where her brother garam participated in. she was known both for her support video during the introductory episodes, where she was hyping her brother up, and for her emotional video message to him in the 9th episode, which brought not only garam but all 20 members to tears.

PAST EXPERIENCES.

 guitar classes!  done as an extracurricular activity starting from when she was 6. quit lessons after 6 years because her and her family moved to the states.

 

 dance classes!  first enrolled in louisiana along with her brother in 2013 and quit the studio in louisiana after six months because her and her family moved back to south korea. her parents then signed her and garam up in another studio recommended by their dance teacher back in the states and gaeul continued classes there until her acceptance into prism entertainment in 2016.

all that gaeul can ever wish for is for rendezvous to survive in the industry. if you pester her about it though, you can also get some more… personal aspirations out of her, like taking part in the composition or the choreography of a song and taking part as a mentor in either a survival show or a dance competition, to prove it to the haters that idols aren't "real" dancers. she has been dancing her whole life after all.
