within many social settings, it's common for joohyun to sit back and keep to herself. it's not that she doesn't want to make any friends, per se, but it doesn't come naturally for her to approach first and strike a conversation. she's quite fine by herself and would rather wait until someone invites her in. she doesn't want to force her company or a conversation onto someone if they actually aren't interested. in general, it really doesn't cross her mind to approach someone in a new social setting to befriend them. perhaps it's for the best, because actively reaching out to people would deplete her social metre fast. she needs that time to herself, and perhaps time to steel herself for what's coming.
she never looks cold, though, nor does she mean to. joohyun typically has this dreamy demeanour, almost like she's ready to go where the wind takes her. she's never loud, nor too softspoken. this tends to make her an easy target for teasing from both older and younger people around her. outsiders may think joohyun gets dragged into shenanigans (and with her dazed expression, it does look like that sometimes), but she often willingly participates in any sort of activity. she's happy to be included and to help out in any fun mischief brewing, as long as you pull her head out of the clouds and inform her, of course. rather than forgetful, her attention easily drifts away when she's left on her own. there's often a backlog of sorts in her head that's caused by her curious nature. she likes contemplating things, piecing information together, and getting introduced to creative concepts. yes, she's a person who appreciates some mental stimulation.

while joohyun's definitely known for her airy, almost blank, vibe, her intentions tend to shine in her actions and in her eyes. while she isn't one to state her convictions in words, you can always know how she feels through what she does, or what she does not do. that's where her honesty lies. there's a humble kindness that inclines her to quietly look after others, never expecting anything back. she's always had that sense of empathy, standing back and being perceptive to people's feelings. on top of being soft at heart, joohyun's loyalty was another quality that came naturally to her. she holds herself to a high standard when it comes to being there for her friends. while not quick to claim someone as a friend, joohyun is a ride or die once she is sure of the person and friendship at hand. you won't get rid of her. speaking of which, joohyun is no stranger to displays of skinship nor gestures of care. she has lots of love to give and will do whatever in her power to make sure her friends know they are loved.

despite this mindset, this is not the case when it comes to herself. joohyun has been conditioned to think that her efforts won't be acknowledged, nor does she think that luck or success would look so kindly upon her. as many people do, she expects failure so she won't be disappointed. joohyun doesn't verbalize this, however, as she isn't used to reaching out to someone for a listening ear. it's not exactly that she'd feel like a burden, but rather that she thinks her problems and/or thoughts aren't relevant enough to be brought up. even with confrontations, joohyun lacks the spine to stand her ground and advocate for herself. the concept is emotionally exhausting to her, so she sits tight instead and waits until the problem (hopefully) tides over. but even in the face of adversity, joohyun can see it to the end as long as she knows the goal is worth doing. at times, she doesn't realize she's enduring it all until she's arrived at the finish line. 

 1999 - 2013  

min joohyun was born and grew up in a loving household, raised along with an older sister she looked up to and a younger sister she cherished. joohyun was the child who kept to herself the most, content with going about her own business. while her older sister was known for her academic achievements, joohyun did well enough to be no cause for concern. there wasn't anything that she could claim as her own. this was something that sat in the back of her mind even in her early years of childhood.

she eventually picked up singing as a hobby, as well as a fixation on the idol industry and its groups. this leads to her developing an interest in the career path. her parents enrolled her in occasional dance classes to learn the basics as support. with the encouragement of her parents, she also went to auditions and eventually signed a contract under viva creative in 2013.

 2014 - present 

while initially hopeful, her optimism was crushed when she'd realized the kind of unhealthy environment the management condoned. demeaning comments were often thrown around by the staff themselves. this enabled favoured trainees to punch down on others. the few times joohyun brought up complaints, she was shot down as the company didn't want to punish their gems. there came the breaking point in 2015, where joohyun terminated her contract with the help of her parents.

her experience left her discouraged from pursuing another chance at an idol career until she gets a call a year later. a familiar voice on the other end spoke: jin siryeon, the lady who was responsible for monitoring her audition for viva creative. she was one of the few comforting presences in that company. she'd left viva creative as well and established her own label called prism entertainment. joohyun was offered to audition.

after heavy consideration, joohyun concluded that she still had it in her to give her dream another chance. evidently, though, with much less optimism and more caution. she auditioned and she passed, becoming prism entertainment's first trainee. joohyun softened up as she realized she was safe in this new company. relief slowly washed over her as new trainees arrived. this was what she had wanted when she was first signed as a trainee years ago. but while she has a new start, the hurt that viva creative gave still remains. she has to heal at some point. 

likes
— vanilla: especially vanilla flavoured drinks or dessert.
— cute things: whether it's animals, trinkets, plushies, etc. joohyun is a er for all things cute and will likely gravitate towards them. someone might have to keep an eye on her when roaming around stores and malls.
— jewelry: she enjoys looking at them and wearing them. she also tends to fidget with them if she's wearing any.
— snacks: but especially chips. once she gets her hands on something, good luck separating it from her. don't let her share your snacks unless you're fine with her kind of.. hogging it. 
— horror: movies or video games especially. her curiosity gets piqued as characters get to the bottom of things and she just cannot peel her eyes away from the suspension.

dislikes
— fights: she gets really tense and feels helpless when she can feel escalation happening.
— spicy food: only if they're spicy for the sake of making the consumer suffer. she doesn't mind it if the flavours of the food have a kick of spice. food is meant to be enjoyed, not to cause pain.
— instant ramen: probably had more than what was supposed to be a lifetime's share of them during her time under viva creative. it reminds her of miserable times and she doesn't know when she'll recover from that horrid diet.

— hovering/hanging around people: she does this when she's comfortable with people. she'll walk in and stay in a room just to be around them. like some kind of cat.
— jokingly saying no: when people ask her a favour, she likes to say "no" in a lighthearted tone when, in reality, she will indeed do them the favour.
— fixing her posture: in moments where she snaps out of her train of thought and realizes she's slouching, she suddenly straightens up. the cycle is endless. slouch, straighten, slouch, straighten.
— slapping when laughing: usually her thigh or a table in front of her. it's not a gentle one either. honestly, it's more of a smack.
— on the phone while watching tv: her attention drifts between the two devices. she'll claim she's still watching tv even when she was just engrossed in her phone screen a second ago.
— active when nervous: joohyun starts moving around and doing little exercises to get rid of her nerves. she's also a tad bit more talkative to dispel the mental pressure.
— repeating catchy lines: she ends up sounding like a broken jukebox, but when the need to sing a line, she doesn't let it go unfulfilled.

hobbies
— photography: nothing too complicated, just with her phone camera. she likes commemorating memories as well as capturing scenic or cool things she comes across.
— making photo albums: this is something she got from her parents. every once in a while, she'll compile photos she's taken from her phone and get hd photo prints of them. she'll put them in an album and write down the date and a short comment beside them.
— wiki surfing: she knows random information on multiple franchises because of this. it's usually on shows, movies, or video games.
— surfing netflix/youtube: she ends up rewatching anime as white noise or as something to watch while she's eating her meals or snacking.
— editing: whether it's video or graphic design. she used to tinker a lot back when she was just a fan who also wanted to contribute to fan content. sometimes, she'll record and edit a personal vlog when she knows it'll be a fun and/or eventful day. more of it gets kept for the memories rather than rendezvous official content, however.

trivia
— elevator music: joohyun really looks like she has that kind of music playing in her head due to her airy vibes. it won't be uncommon to find edits of her with the mii theme or the nook's cranny theme smacked on top.
— the resident cat: joohyun has mannerisms of a cat besides hovering within someone's space and being snug against them. she could be sat at one spot, staring into space. or sneaking onto someone's bed when they walk out because, omg, warm spot!
— nintendo enthusiast: not that she never checks out other games, but joohyun's more loyal to nintendo due to it being a huge chunk of her childhood. she's had every handheld since the gameboy advance, and every console since the wii. 
— idol heroes: snsd and f(x) have joohyun's heart when it comes to their variety of concepts and sounds. after school's passion and willingness to try new things for their performances inspired her. she hopes she can take a page from each group and make something out of her own career.
— learning process: when learning choreography, joohyun learns effectively when the dance moves are associated with sound effects. if you ask her to teach choreo, she will likely teach you the same way and not teach you through counts.
— profile surfer: she immediately checks the member profiles when she finds out about a new group (typically when their mv ends up on her recommendations). joohyun also checks what groups have overlapping schedules with rendezvous so she knows their names and knows who's a senior, who's a junior. she likes being aware. 
— the debut concept: as somebody who loves all things cute and pretty, joohyun is extremely pleased about rendezvous's concept. she'll most likely throw suggestions at eunbi's way if the opportunity presents itself.
— rapping: joohyun picked it up during her time under viva creative and found it fun, so she stuck with it. she's interested in writing, but doesn't trust herself just yet to do it with rendezvous's discography. at least, not yet.
— bare-faced: if it's not mandatory for her to be wearing makeup, joohyun will otherwise be bare-faced. her skin isn't bad and she'd rather give it a break whenever she can. thus, it's common for fans to see her bare face on vlives and vlogs if she did not have any schedules prior.

she never lost contact with saerom even after she'd left her behind in viva creative. before heartful debuted, they met up often. for saerom's case, it was to be away from her situation as much as possible. for joohyun, saerom was the only person who knew and shared her struggles. but while joohyun is in the process of healing, saerom is still suffering. joohyun often gets texts and calls from saerom ranting about the mistreatment and neglect she's getting. it's a dreadful and helpless cycle, and joohyun could only wish things had turned out different for saerom too. if their schedules overlap, joohyun is right by saerom's side, taking her away from the rest of heartful in the guise of close friendship (especially when there's cameras around). with saerom, both familiarity and comfort dawn on her.

a six-member group under viva creative. joohyun gets apprehensive every time she thinks about the idea of rendezvous's schedules overlapping with theirs. she has no personal feelings towards half the group, as her main problems were with gaeun, noeul, and seoyoung. joohyun will make the effort to not be associated with them, not wanting to cause herself the same stress she had for those two years. while there are newer members added after she left viva creative, she has no interest in getting to know them in fear that more association will end up with unnecessary encounters with the three certain members. joohyun is cautious with how she behaves with them in front of cameras, easily faking a professional smile to mask her discomfort and ward off suspicion and speculations. she will not speak to them unless she is spoken to first.  

STAGE NAME: yoonju (윤주). prism simply took joo from joohyun and romanized it to ju. then they grabbed the yun from hyun and changed it to yoon (despite knowing it's ㅕ and not ㅠ). after all that linguistic gymnastics, voila, her stage name. yoonju.

PAST EXPERIENCE(S): 
— viva creative: february 2013 - may 2015. joohyun kept to herself a lot during this time, often throwing herself into training to cope with her isolation. she made good use of her time which was why she was kept around for such a long while despite her complaints about the company's favourite trainees.  

TRAINEE LIFE: joohyun started training under prism entertainment in april 2016. with the much healthier environment in the company, she experienced less stress and gladly went through training. as more trainees joined in, joohyun was simply happy to be included whenever she was invited to hang around or go out somewhere. 

MEDIA PRESENCE: joohyun's first public appearance as a trainee was with prism entertainment, featuring in the very first trainee practice video that the company released. she hasn't made a lasting impression yet as she let the rest of the girls take the lead with their pre-debut vlogs. 

HEADLINES:
— heartful yoonju: trends on social media. in a twist of events, it gets revealed that joohyun trained under viva creative despite having no intentions of divulging the information. it, unfortunately, creates some noise and enforces an association between her and heartful.

CAREER ASPIRATIONS: joohyun simply wants rendezvous to survive the industry and have a productive career. starting from her debut, she doesn't allow herself to expect or hope for anything more. she's open to being in a unit, but can't fathom being a soloist or doing a solo release. collaborations are out of question when, in her mind, rendezvous has to fight and find their footing in the industry first.

when things start to look up for rendezvous and the company, though, that's when the ambition slowly creeps in. joohyun starts becoming interested in the creative process and begins commenting on the potential and vision of future projects. her curiosity and her love for the creative arts manifest into a tangible contribution to rendezvous.
