temporary personality blurb: generally a good kid who's just excited to discover the world, on a whole new region when he hadn't even gone on an adventure back at his own region at sinnoh. always ready to make friends and is a staunch believer in "the more the merrier." he approaches lots of people with an open heart and with enthusiasm. treats every location and place with wonder and awe, he tends to get inspiration from this for his contests. his sense of adventure tends to get him in trouble as he ends up getting tunnel vision and realizing he ed up right when he already did it. he has a lot of trust in his pokemon to help and guide him, which makes him reckless since he believes that everything will be alright in the end. he doesn't mean to bother them so much but he's always sure to express his gratefulness to them every time. as someone who's very passionate about his coordinator aspirations, he tends to get some crazy ideas and test them despite not figuring out if the theory is sound. he cares for the people around him and his pokemon a lot, so when he thinks he's caused them an inconvenience or let them down, he takes it very hard and already has glassy eyes before anyone can say anything. 

 

BACKGROUND indigo song was born in floaroma, a quiet town in the sinnoh region boasting rolling meadows of lush flowers and vivid colours. to commemorate their love for their hometown and their children's birthplace, his parents named him so according to one of the many colours residing there. his older sister, hyacinth, was named after one of the many flowers thriving there. little inigo grew up in the comfort familiar sights and familiar faces, but that wasn't what hyacinth wanted.

 

with his sister, he would sit in front of the tv in awe of the televised pokemon contests. the intricate stage attire, the performances, and the battles excited them. it was only natural that they would soon aspire to be pokemon coordinators. hyacinth spoke loud and clear of her goals. her head was in the clouds, her heart was with the city life. relatives and neighbours didn't take it seriously, often teasing them and throwing jokes. young inigo would whine and affirm their determination, but this would feed the resentment hyacinth harboured for their hometown.

 

inigo thought it was going to be okay. they would achieve their dreams together, dye their hair the colours of their names together, and show their hometown and sinnoh what they're made of. but when inigo was aged thirteen and hyacinth was eighteen, she spread her wings and took off. she never looked back. inigo was left alone in the house, left with no method to contact her nor a promise to visit. it's okay, he told himself. hyacinth was finally out there, finding herself and experiencing life.

 

three years later, he would be sitting in front of the tv, frozen in his seat when he sees hyacinth thriving in the competition scene. she was sporting blue hair, the shade just like the hyacinths back at home. it seemed like such an insignificant thing, but with the accumulated loneliness that he had been ignoring for the past few years, it truly seemed that she was detaching herself from him. all their promises and goals together were being done without him. he wasn't even being given a chance to celebrate with her. he hugged verte who was sitting beside him, his kirlia and companion, while blinking away tears.

 

from then on, he focused on learning from the trainer school in the next city over, jubilife. once inigo was done learning everything he could from there, he was eighteen. he announced his plans to his parents to travel across sinnoh to fulfill his coordinator dreams while hoping to reunite with his sister for answers and closure. "sweetie, no." his mother lovingly denied, "not when you don't even know how to make a proper meal for yourself." and so he was held back for several months as he was drilled the basic life and survival skills needed. in the end, inigo was thankful.

 

he's in front of the tv again, watching the current year's grand festival. hyacinth prevailed and finally became sinnoh's top coordinator. six years after she'd left home. when the host had asked for her future plans, what she answered sent inigo to a frenzy. "i think i've seen everything that sinnoh has to offer." she grinned, "now that i've finally become a top coordinator here, i'm setting my sights on competing at hoenn!" hoenn? inigo's eyes widened. but he hadn't even begun his journey around sinnoh! "i plan on competing in every region!"

 

what? he'd never catch up to her if he stays here! thus, he bypasses discovering sinnoh once he's heard official news on hyacinth's arrival at hoenn. he packs up, with his pokemon by his side and his hair dyed a blended purple and blue, and sets off to pastoria city. there, he takes the next ferry to hoenn. looks like he'll have to make his grand festival debut there instead. hopefully. no, no. definitely!

─ theme songs: it's the hard knock life, into the thick of it (his pokemon, alternatively, have i'm in' sick of it), a million dreams. while it doesn't apply word for word, the general messages encapsulate the vibes.
─ infatuations: develops a crush on multiple people. he can't help that people are cool and/or pretty and nice and smart-- the poor dude's only lived in one small town. not a big pool of impressive people there! besides, it's not like he has plans of romantically pursuing anyway. he's good to sit, smile, and admire from a distance!

inigo met verte when he was five years old, lost in the forest after straying off the path in route 204 during the trek back home from jubilife city. for verte, a ralts then, it was very hard to ignore a snot-nosed five-year-old human sobbing with his tiny fist shoved halfway into his mouth. verte managed to guide little inigo back to the path and saw him off. since then, little inigo would always look out to the outskirts of the forest where he'd met verte. the pokemon ended up doing the same thing, as

inigo was brought to sandgem town at the age of eleven, paying a visit to the professor with his sister once they'd heard word of the professor returning from their travels. they were eager to find out what stories they could tell and what pokemon they'd taken under their care in the research lab. during his stay there, he simply did not leave piplup's side, absolutely delighted by his personality. their energy clicked and the professor could see that. considering how much care verte was given (who was also with them and was slowly coming to a realization that she'd be dealing with both of them now), the professor had no shred of hesitation when they allowed piplup to be taken under inigo's wing.

on his journey to pastoria city, inigo passed by oreburgh city, where he happened upon an abandoned glaceon crying out for his trainer. inigo took glaceon in for what he thought was only going to be for the day, sitting still at oreburgh's pokemon center, asking around, and simply hoping that glaceon's trainer would come running back. no such thing happened. the glaceon decided to stay with inigo after it was time for him to continue his journey. 

 

the real story behind the abandonment is that glaceon isn't what the pokemon breeder wanted. the man ran into trouble on route 217, aggressively chased after by team rocket agents for the pokemon he had. after wasting up all his options, eevee was the only one left standing. eevee protected hard, and evolved into glaceon. much to the pokemon breeder's despair. the client wanted umbreon. after escaping by the skin of their teeth, the man trudged on to oreburgh city where he was supposed to meet his client. alas: no umbreon, no money. he threw the pokeball out of frustration in a decrepit alleyway. by the time glaceon broke free out of that pokeball, the man had stormed away and was long gone.
