when you ask people about yoon haejin, those who know him from his aeon days and those who know him from prism entertainment will give two different kinds of answers: mainly "always smiling", "friendly" and "a complete sweetheart" from the aeon people and "a complete sweetheart", "closed off" and "extremely patient" from the prism people. as we can see here, the common point is "a complete sweetheart" and there hasn't been a truer statement made about yoon haejin. he's the person that you can always depend on and that's always there with a cup of your preferred beverage, a plate of your preferred dessert and a listening ear. he's basically the prince charming in a fairytale, he'll bring you flowers, open the car door for you, all the gentlemanly stuff that little girls dream of their future husbands doing for them. he cares for the rest of the members by taking time out of his schedule to make sure that they've eaten, are hydrated, will be resting and have nothing plaguing their minds. if he sees that something is bothering them, he makes note of the telltale signs and checks in with them when they're in the privacy of their dorm, always asking whether they need someone to talk to, someone to listen to or to be left alone, and acts according to the response he receives.

 

as someone who has held the leader position across two groups, haejin has an intense amount of patience. he can and will wait until the shenanigans have died out, but also won't hesitate to calm and level everybody if they have something urgent to do, like starting practice or filming something, but his patience shows in situations that naturally take long the most: household chores like cooking or vacuuming or idol-related things like training, or his group getting their first win. in the face of stress, he remains calm, doesn't allow anything to upset him or get in the way of his goals and works diligently until he has achieved what he wanted to achieve. his patience and behavior when faced with stressful situations also motivates others to do the same, to remain calm, not allow anything to upset them or get in the way of their goals and to work diligently until they have achieved what they wanted to achieve.

 

haejin is smart, a little more book-smart than street-smart but has a good balance of both "smart"s nonetheless. he can read into situations well, is sharp, quick and savvy, and can make good decisions based on the situation he reads into. he has good intuition and can easily figure out if someone is trying to cheat or manipulate him, even though this sense of his has become clouded over the years because of his past experience at the hands of one of his former groupmates, hence the "a little more book-smart than street-smart" bit mentioned earlier on. he's trying to dispel the clouds, he's trying his best. and he compensates for that by providing justification as to why he made such a decision if the cloudiness shows, explaining his side and admitting his faults if he is, indeed, at fault. this can make him be prone to manipulation since he can be swayed, but don't misunderstand. his intuition is just cloudy and a bit rusted, not useless, and he can still figure manipulation easily and try to pull himself away as much as he can.

 

something haejin has drilled into his mind from his days as a student and trainee is to do everything he does in the best way he can. and we all know what this leads to: perfectionism. if he's doing something, he strives for flawlessness, nothing short of perfection. when you look deep into his perfectionism, however, it mainly stems from his anxiety and the need to have control over every aspect of his life, and that includes his training. he needs to have full control over how he sings his lines in songs, his dancing, his words, the plans he makes, etcetera. or else he just spirals deep into his own headspace. so, he lets this part of his anxiety out in the form of drilling things into his own mind, practicing his lines and dances over and over again until it has become second nature and he can even do them in his sleep. of course, like everything, this coping mechanism, for the lack of a better term, does have its' own downfalls. a common sight for haejin is him going past his limits and overworking himself because of his unrelenting perfectionism. forgetting to do basic things like eating, drinking water and sleeping are also common sights, and in some cases when he goes too far, he has a fainting spell, in which his body just shuts down because it's literally begging for rest, similar to that of an electronic device that is at zero percent battery and needs to be charged before it can be used again.

 

haejin has extremely high empathetical skills and is easily overstimulated, in part due to his anxiety. and as a result, he feels more deeply about certain things, more so than some other people. he's the first one to cry in a sad or otherwise emotional situation, the first one to show his happiness when something good happens, one of the first ones to react during anything really. he's a highly sensitive person, and takes every single thing to heart, including criticism, whether it's constructive or destructive. he has different emotional reactions to both of those types, but while some people (read: jinhwa or garam) may just respond to the the negative words of someone with a "whatever" and an eyeroll, haejin really reflects on it. his reaction is way more intense and it's a very obvious reaction, you can clearly tell that he takes whatever is being said to heart. his face immediately drops and he employs certain tactics to avoid said criticism, like people-pleasing, criticizing himself first and avoiding the source of criticism altogether. for constructive criticism, he makes a mental note of it and, similar to destructive criticism, tries to avoid the source that evoked said criticism. it may be a good thing for constructive criticism when he's trying to record a song or learn a choreography, or just receiving input about something from someone, but for destructive criticism, it might actually come across to some people as a way of self-depreciation.

 

with the way he's highly sensitive to everything that's happening around him, would it be wrong to say that haejin is emotional? absolutely not. haejin is an emotional person. in this day and age where men are often shunned, ostracized and even blamed for having emotions and showing emotion is seen as a sign of weakness, haejin stands out like a sore thumb. he's very in tune with his emotions and isn't afraid to show weakness, so to speak. he lets himself be happy, be angry, and cry. he will weep openly, mainly out of pride, if the members achieve something, like getting their first win. he's so used to hearing the phrases "don't take it so personally." or "why are you so sensitive?". he's trying not to take everything personally, he really is. but it's easier said than done. real men don't cry, huh? guess haejin isn't a real man then.

 

at his core, haejin wants to become someone who can help keep others out of danger. and he's willing to do everything for it. there are certain things that cut deep and hurt him, things that are hard to brush off. one of those things is people saying negative things about his fellow members. haejin is extremely protective of the members and will not let them receive a single wound from people's words even though it means he'll be the one that takes it all, hence the reason he's called "the guardian angel of vesper" really. with this protectiveness also comes a defensive personality and being more emotionally reactive. he's constantly in a state of fight when it comes to s and always feels like he, as the leader, has to defend them and himself. basically, haejin tries to fight everyone's battles, because that's his job and responsibility as a leader. to fight his, the group's and the members' battles, and hold them up so that they won't fall apart. right? right?

 

wrong. what haejin needs to learn is to pick his battles wisely. he may be the leader, yes, but he's also only human, he can't fight every single battle that comes vesper's way, that's physically and mentally impossible. if he doesn't pick and choose his own battles wisely, he'll basically be fighting all the time. and he's already fighting so many battles just inside his own head. the members aren't babies, they can fight their own battles just fine. what he needs to focus on is his own battles, not even the group's battles because that's not only for him to do. they're a group, so it's a joint effort, with haejin, the other members, their managers, junhan and mido and the other company staff, everybody in prism entertainment, really.

 

as it has been mentioned many times before, haejin is a highly anxious person. he's literally diagnosed with general anxiety disorder and takes ssri's for it. ever since the incident during his time in aeon, he has become a closed box, shy, private, timid, extremely cautious and unable to connect with new people, because he's afraid that he'll go through what he did again. as a result, he has lost all confidence in himself and has become easily swayable, just to make people like him. what he needs to do, is to be sure of himself and remind himself of who he is. not everyone will like him, and that is okay. if he's sure of who he is and he knows and believes in himself, at the end of the day, no one can tell him anything. even if someone tells him something that strikes a chord and hurts him, at the end of the day, no one can tell him anything if he's sure of himself. it's a hard journey. he needs to be self-confident and not insecure, and it takes a lot of time, a lot of positive self-talk and a lot of giving himself grace, because he's only human. he makes mistakes.

 

he needs to know that being sure of himself is hard. even if he's not completely sure of what he want to do with his life, when things are up in the air or he doesn't feel like he's on his best path right now, he needs to know that he knows himself at his core. and that's all that matters. he needs to realize that he knows who he is, that he can be honest with himself, that he knows what kind of heart he has, how he treats people and he goes out of his way to bring joy to others, and that no one can take that from him unless he gives people that power. and that's exactly what haejin does. he gives people the power to talk about him, he gives people control over everything rather than taking control of his own life himself in a healthier way. and that's what spikes his anxiety as mentioned before, not having control over the aspects of his life, and this leads to him trying to cope with it in unhealthy ways, like overworking himself to the point of fainting spells.

 

overall, haejin is an old, rickety boat, floating along the water of life, trying not to sink. however, with the way he has eventually pavlov conditioned himself to behave through his own life experiences, cracks have opened up in his surface and is letting water in, thus leading to a painfully slow sinking. it is still not too late, he can still fix the cracks along his surface. but the question that remains is, will he let himself fix the cracks or will he just let himself sink?

 

BACKGROUND.　

born on november 19, 1999, yoon haejin had always been the apple of his parents' eye, with a lovely older sister four years his senior named yoon haerin. with his father and mother working in the education industry as a maths and english teacher in a public high school in daejeon, they could be classified as well off since teachers are paid pretty handsomely in south korea. they could afford good technological things, vacations and good schools to send their kids to. and as per every asian family, they had their kids do extracurricular activities as well. haerin took up volleyball and haejin took up basketball.

 

the siblings enjoyed their extracurriculars, practicing with their friends and neighbors, and joining team games whenever they could. but while haerin continued volleyball well into middle school, haejin quit basketball after a few years of starting. it wasn't that he didn't like it, no, he loved playing basketball. but most of his close friends and neighbors had quit following their entrance into fourth and fifth grade because they wanted to focus on maths or english and he basically was playing with strangers who were already in groups of friends. and he had something else in mind.

 

while haejin and his family lived in daejeon, most of their relatives lived in the capital city, seoul, and the yoon family took the 2 hour car ride from their house in gwanjeo-dong, seo-gu to seoul every holiday. on one of those many visits, haejin was out with his cousins, walking around the streets of hongdae when they came across a group of buskers, performing self-written songs while playing instruments. the performance mesmerised haejin, the way the group's voices harmonized together to the tunes coming from their instruments. it was as if the doors of a whole new world had opened for haejin. and as a matter of fact, it had. the world of music.

 

when they returned to their cousins' home that night, haejin begged his parents to let him take singing classes. his parents were, obviously, worried at first, thinking haejin would quit after a while, but haejin promised them that he wouldn't quit and that he'd work really hard. so they signed him up to an art academy that was close to their house for singing lessons, scheduling his first lesson to take place after they came back to daejeon.

 

haejin flourished in his singing classes and his teacher had nothing but praise for him. he found a new group of friends, some of who went to his school, and they also began putting up performances during school festivals, which were very well received. he had found his calling, his dream. it wasn't to be a teacher like his parents, nor a career in sports like his sister. no, he was going to be a singer and join the entertainment industry. his parents were happy to see haejin doing so well, and his happiness just prompted them to continue paying for haejin's classes.

 

after graduating from middle school, haejin talked to his parents about attending a performing arts high school, telling them about his dream of becoming an idol. while they weren't sure about how stable haejin's life would be if he did end up becoming an idol, they didn't want their son going through what he had during his basketball times. so, after looking up schools that had good reputations, they settled on school of performing arts seoul, one of the most famous private arts high school in south korea, consisting of very famous alumni, idols, rookies, even trainees. and after preparing all the necessary documents, the yoon family took the 2 hour drive that they took every holiday again, but this time, to get haejin to take the entrance exam, staying with haerin who was now attending university in seoul as a physical therapy major, on a volleyball scholarship. the results arrived a few days later, and sadly, haejin had missed the cut off. school of performing arts seoul took in 266 students per year and haejin wasn't one of them. this devastated haejin and his family, they knew how much he wanted to attend a performing arts high school. but if there was something that the entirety of the yoon family believed in, it was that everything happened for a reason, and that maybe it wasn't haejin's time yet. but his time would come soon. they knew it. so, they registered him to daejeon gwanjeo high school and let him continue his singing lessons.

 

close to his graduation from high school, one day haejin was returning home after school when he was stopped by a man in a crisp outfit who claimed that he was a representative for an entertainment company, not choosing to give out the name. the man claimed that haejin's height (he had a growth spurt between his time in middle school and high school, one of the side effects of basketball, he thinks.) and visuals were perfect idol material, and gave him his business card, asking him to audition. haejin ran back home crying happy tears and showed his parents the card.

 

his parents were equally happy for him and allowed him to audition, but they had one condition: that he graduates from high school first. while they didn't know the entertainment industry, they knew the education industry and knew that students who were scouted to join entertainment companies would, more or less, end up dropping out of school to fully focus on their training and take the ged exam to have high school education equivalency. they explained all of that to haejin and said that if he auditioned after graduating from high school, he wouldn't have to worry about his school responsibilities, wouldn't have to drop out if training got tough and stress over the ged exams.

 

haejin agreed with his parents and spent that time studying efficiently to do well in his schoolwork, as well as continuing his singing lessons so he wouldn't be rusted by the time he auditioned. and immediately after his graduation, haejin auditioned for the company, which he learned was called aeon entertainment, with a ballad song. he was accepted and his family helped him move into the trainee dorms, his sister promising him that she'd keep an eye on him. and thus started yoon haejin's journey in the entertainment industry.

 

LIKES.

 animals!  if you ask haejin whether he likes cats or dogs, be prepared to get a "yes" from him.

 anime!  quite possibly the biggest weeb in vesper, haejin's journey with anime started with pokémon when he was a child. he can talk nonstop about anime and his favorite storylines for hours. his favorite animes are pokémon, jujutsu kaisen, attack on titan, demon slayer and one piece. if you're looking for someone to -talk season 1 eren jaeger with, haejin is the perfect person.

 art!  from music to painting, he appreciates art in all shapes and forms.

 boba tea!  "brown sugar boba with fresh milk is a gift from god," as said by yoon haejin himself.

 cookies!  he's a sweet over savory person through and through. you can lowkey get haejin to do anything if you offer him free cookies, especially peanut butter and chocolate chip ones.

 fall!  leaves changing color, pumpkin flavored anything, flannels and sweaters. easily his favorite season.

 food!  is there anyone that doesn't like it? if there is, they're not real people.

 harry potter!  a big potterhead, he read all the books, watched all the movies including the fantastic beasts series and proudly identifies as a hufflepuff.

 history!  he loves learning about the history of a place and all the culture surrounding it.

 memes!  his sense of humor might be a bit different compared to the other members but he loves a good old vine reference. his favorite has to be the one where kermit sings usher's i don't mind.

 movies!  unsurprisingly, he loves anime and musical theater movies.

 music!  and it's not just because he's in the music industry, haejin has to have some kind of music playing, even at a really low volume, when he does anything.

 peppermint flavor!  mint is, in general, a refreshing flavor but haejin especially loves peppermint in tea and hot chocolate. is he #teammincho lover? hell yeah.

 tea!  while he doesn't enjoy spilling tea as much as some other members do, he enjoys hot tea, as it's good for both his throat and his anxiety. his favorite teas are peppermint, chamomile and honey citron. he only enjoys cold tea in the form of boba.

DISLIKES.

 alcohol!  the first time he tried alcohol was when his sister made him try it, and after the effects wore off, he felt more anxious than he had ever been, so he tries to stay away from it. it's not good for his throat either. will he have a beer with the members for celebration purposes? yes, but most of the time, he can't finish it.

 anti-fans!  do they seriously not have anything better to do?

 being in a social setting for too long!  as an introvert with anxiety, his social battery runs out when he's in a social setting for too long and he needs to recharge.

 changing his medication dosage!  haejin is on ssri's due to his anxiety and panic disorder, and has had to change his dosage a lot in order to accomodate to his body. and he hated it, the side effects, the nausea, the exhaustion and the overall "done" feeling he had. thankfully his dosage hasn't changed since he became a trainee in prism ent.

 coffee!  he was advised by his psychiatrist to limit his caffeine intake, and haejin already doesn't like the taste of coffee. the smell isn't bad at all, it's actually comforting to him, but the taste is just a big fat nope for him.

 dolls!  he once walked in on his sister watching a video about the haunted doll island in mexico and he has disliked them ever since. they give him the heeby jeebies.

 dust!  he's allergic to pollen and dust, so both of them lead to violent bouts of coughing and sneezing. thankfully he always keeps his allergy medication in his bag.

 homophobia!  it's 2022. people are gay, steven! get over it.

 getting hit with a "k" over text!  isn't "k" basically " you" in text? either way, the only people that can text "k" to haejin are his parents and he makes that abundantly clear.

 maths!  how the hell does anyone like maths? as he himself says, "why would you learn math when you have a calculator?"

 messiness!  a surefire way to get his anxiety levels blasting through the roof.

 pollen!  just like dust, he's allergic. and then people wonder why he doesn't like spring.

 rude people!  especially when they're rude to waiters, drive-thru cashiers, retail workers or baristas. just no. they're people like you and i and it doesn't kill you to be kind.

 wasps!  he's 100% certain that they're the flying spawns of satan. why else would they be hovering over you and stinging you for no reason?

 

HABITS.

 anxiety!  haejin's anxiety ticks: twitching, random shivers, fiddling with his fingers and picking at his nails or cuticles.

 bye-lingual!  haejin can speak both korean and english fluently, but he's slowly losing vocabulary in both languages. sometimes he speaks in a mixture of korean and english so horribly that only winston can understand him.

 carrying stress squishies on him!  he has one in his pocket and in his bag at all times in case he has a panic attack.

 doing headcounts!  a habit he picked up in his n-igma days, haejin does headcounts on the members wherever they go, to make sure that no one is left behind.

 journaling!  as recommended to him by his therapist, haejin does a 5-minute journaling exercise every morning when he wakes up and every night before he goes to sleep.

 overworking himself!  working to the point where he pushes past his limits, haejin has realized, is something that keeps his anxiety at bay, so this is something he does a lot. so much so, in fact, that he forgets to eat, drink water or get enough sleep. in the rare cases where his overworking himself gets extremely bad, he ends up having fainting spells.

 panic attack giveaways!  the dead giveaways that haejin is going to have/is having a panic attack is staring off into space/appearing to zone out, squeezing his stress squishie, bouncing his leg, and picking at his cuticles.

 sneezing!  he's allergic to pollen and dust, and unless he has taken his medication, he sneezes a lot and his eyes water easily.

 vocal warm-ups!  rather than just doing a lip trill like yunbin, haejin has a whole 5-minute vocal warm-up routine that he does in the mornings, in the dressing rooms, before stages and vocal practices. he sometimes harmonizes with yunbin's lip trills as well and that's usually quite a funny sight, yunbin doing his lip trills and haejin harmonizing with it.

 zoning out!  he's probably about to have/is having a panic attack or the wii music is playing in his head. it's either one or the other.

 

HOBBIES.

 baking, cooking!  he's one of the members that is in charge of cooking in the group because putting the rest of the members in the kitchen is a recipe for disaster, pun intended.

 book shopping!  while he does order books online, he enjoys visiting libraries and bookshops and checking out books.

 cleaning!  being allergic to dust severely to the point where even the smallest speck of dust makes him sneeze and cough violently, haejin enjoys cleaning a lot.

 drawing!  he has a small notebook on his desk in which he likes to doodle.

 listening to music!  he has a 35-hour playlist on his spotify which he turns on music from daily.

 reading!  there's nothing else to add here.

 singing!  there have been many cases both in his time as an n-igma and a vesper member where he has broken out into song randomly. the members don't mind though, in fact, some of them even harmonize with him or join him.

 traveling!  traveling to italy and going to san francisco during pride month to join their pride parade have been on his bucket list for a long time.

 

FEARS.

 falling in love!  especially with a member of vesper, he can't let history repeat itself again. spoiler alert: it is.

 letting vesper down!  he's afraid that he'll let vesper down the way he let n-igma down all those years ago.

 moonhyuk!  do i really need to explain anything else other than the fact that he's the root of all of haejin's fears?

 n-igma finding out the real reason why he left!  he can't tell them why he left, he just can't.

 making good decisions!  haejin only stated this as a joke on a variety show once when he was a member of n-igma, but the general public and the members approved, so he states this as his special talent.

 one!  back in n-igma, asides from the group social media accounts, he used to have a private instagram account and a kkt account that he deleted in 2019 before changing his number. when vesper open their own social media accounts, haejin isn't really an active poster. he's known as the member that "ghosts" the fans, posting one selca and then dipping for a while. nobody knows why though, not even the members. he only has kkt for the vesper group chat.

TRIVIA.

 clan!  haejin is from the papyeong yoon clan, same as stayc's seeun, day6's dowoon and seventeen's jeonghan.

 education!  haejin attended daejeon gwanjeo elementary school, daejeon gwanjeo middle school and daejeon gwanjeo high school. he chose to not attend university as he had become a trainee in aeon entertainment, but is considering enrolling into global cyber university.

 vocal prep!  once again similar to yunbin, haejin avoids dairy, spicy food, sugar or caffeine before doing any vocal-related activities. avoiding caffeine and dairy isn't that big of a problem since the only caffeine he gets is from tea which is actually good for his throat and he doesn't consume a lot of dairy on the daily. but spicy food and sugar… that's tough, as he loves spicy food and loves sweets.

 mental health experience!  the only people that fully know about what happened between haejin and moonhyuk are his sister haerin, oh my girl's arin and haejin's therapist. he will open up to the members, but he wants to do it at his own pace, and as of now, he's not ready.

 romance experience!  haejin has dated only one person in his life before debuting with vesper, and that was n-igma member hwi. however, he did receive a lot of love confessions and inkigayo sandwiches because of his good looks and gentle personality. as of now, he doesn't really care about his love life, his main priorities are his mental health and leading vesper to the best of his capability. little does he know, that's all about to change.

 homophobic?  because of the issue with moonhyuk, haejin has dived deep into the closet, deeper than he was at his debut with n-igma, and avoids talks about ual orientations in general. it has caused people, and even at times vesper members, to think that he's homophobic but they're usually convinced he's, at the very least, bicurious when they hear his gender neutral answer to the ideal type question.

 pets!  haejin has a 2 year old (as of 2021) patched tabby calico cat that acts as his emotional support animal. her name is mia and haejin takes care of her in the dorms. even the so-called "ice prince", choi yunbin, can't help but try to be on mia's good side and surprisingly, she lets him pet her and cuddle with her. guess yunbin's superpower of not passing vibe checks doesn't apply to animals.

YOON HAERIN.　haerin is haejin's older sister. after graduating from university with a degree in physical therapy, with a volleyball scholarship, haerin decided to quit volleyball to focus fully on her career as a physical therapist. being one of the three people who know what's going on in haejin's life, it's only natural that haerin is insanely protective over haejin and wouldn't be afraid to square up if anyone tries to hurt her little brother. don't mind her short stature. she might be only 164 cm (5'4'') compared to the giant that's haejin but she knows how to hold her ground. she lives in seoul, so haejin tries to meet up with her whenever he can. istp, 3w2

SHIN HWI.　hwi is the leader and main rapper of n-igma and haejin's ex-boyfriend. hwi was haejin's first… everything, really. his first love (not crush, to avoid confusion), his first kiss, his first date, even his first time. they were in a happy and healthy relationship when haejin was still a part of n-igma, even though the members had no idea about it, and they thought it would last forever. many moments were spent in their shared room, cuddling on one of their beds while making plans about their future, how they'd leave the entertainment industry after their contracts are up, get married and live a happy, quiet life somewhere, with a family of their own. when haejin left n-igma, aeon entertainment and hwi, all of those happy dreams left with him. very much a right person wrong time story.

 

hwi may be over haejin, but it'd be a lie to say he doesn't resent the vocalist. all he wants from haejin is closure, because as much as they didn't end on a good note, they did have a history together. haejin knows that hwi deserves closure and he wants nothing more than to tell him everything, but he also wants to tell him when the time comes. and right now is just not the time. enfj, 3w2.

MOON JAEHYUK (MOONHYUK).　when they debuted, moonhyuk was the problem child of n-igma, or so haejin would say jokingly. between his outspoken and loud, "i do what i want" personality and his habit of not taking from anyone, the rest of the members believe that nickname fits moonhyuk just fine. the fondest memories haejin has of moonhyuk are haejin cooking in the kitchen with moonhyuk sitting on one of the chairs at the table behind him, chattering on and on about a new choreography he's in the process of creating. that's only the tip of the iceberg and what's seen on the surface though. behind the scenes, moonhyuk bullied haejin relentlessly, from verbal and mental abuse to borderline physical. moonhyuk tore haejin down, bit by bit until he was all but a shell of his former self and requested out from n-igma, citing his anxiety as the cause of his exit. moonhyuk is easily the person haejin is scared of the most and he's the very reason why haejin is the person he is now, so skittish, anxious and easily panicked. he will learn to stand up to him in time though. isfp, 9w1.

N-IGMA.　n-igma is haejin's former group, his first ever found family, the first people he regarded as his home away from home. they're the people who know the real yoon haejin, their lively and kind leader, the team's mother. not this shell of a person that's broken and burnt beyond recognition.

 

seungjo is a good kid. he seems like a lazy , getting up from his bed to lay down on the couch when he's bored, but never lazy on stage. on stage, he's confident and diligent, following the choreography perfectly while singing his parts gracefully, and always catching the public's eye with his handsome visuals. haejin can definitely understand why the company promoted seungjo to the main vocalist position after he left, haejin would've done the same. seungjo has a great voice that matches n-igma's current sound perfectly and haejin couldn't be prouder of seungjo's improvement vocal-wise, from getting close to no lines back in their last 7-member song "emptiness" to becoming the main vocalist. enfp, 4w3.

 

asta and ray are his kindred spirits. the holy trinity of anime, meme and harry potter lovers in the group, those three spent most of their time in asta's single room, watching anime on asta's single bed which they need to squish on, which usually ends with someone, mostly haejin, falling off because they don't fit, or giggling over memes with lots of snacks which they definitely shouldn't be eating, especially when they're promoting. haejin has the moment of ray ripping his pants when trying to do the splits as a video on his phone and whenever he needs a good laugh, he just watches it, because it's just perfect. moonhyuk nailing the splits, ray's "let me try" look and then the sound of his pants ripping while he looks up at haejin's video camera with that scared elmo face. esfj, 2w3 (asta) & esfp, 2w3 (ray).

 

yoonhoo is his little one, the one haejin constantly spoils with love and affection. as much as he couldn't be more prouder of yoonhoo's growth between the time haejin left n-igma and debuted again with vesper, he couldn't feel more guilty as well. he wasn't there for yoonhoo's graduation, he wasn't there to take care of all the injuries yoonhoo sustained after they became a six-member group, either due to legitimate reasons or just being clumsy, he wasn't there to comfort yoonhoo when n-igma received their first ever win with "luna." istj, 6w5.

CHOI YUNBIN.　haejin tries to get along well with or at least be civil with everyone in prism entertainment, even with the people who his energy doesn't match with. but for some reason, he just cannot get along well with choi yunbin, it's a strictly co-worker relationship between them. most of haejin's attempts to talk to yunbin (which wasn't much, considering haejin's anxiety) was either met with a blank stare, an eyeroll or a snarky remark, but he doesn't really let it get to him and continues to lead him with his gentle disposition and soft personality. as someone who was bullied, by a groupmate of all people, in the past, when people ask if haejin isn't worried that yunbin will bully him, haejin always responds that he isn't because his cat, mia, likes yunbin and she doesn't like people who are bad for him. which is true, yunbin is probably one of mia's favorite people to cuddle with, the first one obviously being haejin and the second one being winston. in the future, with them having a heart-to-heart over some tea during a time where both of them are calm and not stressing over hitting their notes correctly while dancing in sync for upcoming performances, there's a chance of them being on good terms.

SONG JINHWA.　if haejin were to be asked how his relationship with jinhwa is, he'd answer, "a few days ago, he called my name and when i went to see what happened, he shot me in the throat with a nerf gun." with the biggest smile on his face. it's a typical father-son relationship where they tease each other but hype each other up at the same time. haejin's love language of acts of service shows the best with jinhwa, where he pays extra attention to jinhwa's food to not trigger his shellfish allergy and taking care of him. their relationship doesn't go any further than that until the public feud between jinhwa and dohyun starts, however. after jinhwa and dohyun's childhood friendship is revealed, haejin pulls jinhwa aside for a heart-to-heart and tells him what happened to him back in his days as an n-igma member. he struggles to understand at first, but eventually, what haejin reveals to him becomes a source of inspiration and enlightenment for him. so, it can basically be said that haejin is the person that triggers jinhwa's growth.

CHOI YEWON (ARIN).　haejin's best friend, platonic soulmate and quite possibly his longest friend. they first met when oh my girl were promoting "remember me" and a rookie boy group named n-igma came to their dressing room to greet them, introduce themselves and introduce their debut album and song "yolo", as per every rookie group. haejin, as the leader, presented the leader of oh my girl, hyojung, with the album. arin caught him at the end of the music show to congratulate him on his debut and ask him for his number to hopefully become friends, as they were both born in 1999. and they exchanged numbers. and this meeting planted the seeds of a beautiful friendship that would last to this day. arin and haejin are each other's confidants, best friends and biggest hypemen, with arin being there for haejin, maybe not physically but in spirit and through the facetime screen of her phone when he finally told her about what happened with jaehyuk, when he got scouted again and when he was announced to be debuting in vesper. and haejin is a big miracle, oh my girl fan, supporting arin and oh my girl when they went on queendom, and supporting arin in each and every one of oh my girl's comeback. haejin and arin are the kinds of friends that play-flirt and tell each other "i love you" without any feelings being involved: truly the representation of "a guy and a girl being best friends without having feelings for one another". with vesper's debut, fans can spot arin in vesper's dance challenges that involve haejin, mainly during the promotion period of vesper's comeback songs. (referencing this tiktok video of soobin and arin.)

 

JEON TAEWOON.　someone that was also in aeon entertainment and someone that haejin did interact with despite not being in jaehyuk's social circle, taewoon and haejin reconnected after haejin departed from n-igma and aeon entertainment, and taewoon got eliminated from produce x 101, running into each other at a coffee shop after one of haejin's therapy sessions and spending time chatting with lots of coffee (tea in haejin's case). they kept in touch as haejin joined prism entertainment and debuted in vesper, and with him knowing winston from produce x 101 as they joined to represent aeon entertainment together, taewoon became somewhat of an info-relayer, helping haejin realize just how different the winston at aeon entertainment had been compared to the winston of vesper. in the future, there's a chance of him playing matchmaker between haejin and winston.

 

TRAINEE LIFE.　

 AEON ENTERTAINMENT (2016 – 2019)!  haejin joined newly starting company aeon entertainment in early 2016 just after his graduation from high school. almost immediately, he met two people after being introduced to them on his first day, moon jaehyuk and shin hwi. they showed him around, acquainting him with the company and how they work as a whole before asking him for his schedule so they can see which classes they had together.

 

more trainees continued to trickle in and soon enough, haejin found himself a solid social circle, consisting of jaehyuk, hwi and a few other people. haejin lived his best life while training in aeon, he worked a lot but had at least one friend from his social circle in every class he took, so he was never alone. it was like he was back at his singing classes again, except this time, there was more to it than just singing: dance, rap, languages, manners and a lot more other things were involved as well. and he also had a crush.

 

haejin knew since he was young that he wasn't straight. he always thought men were more attractive than women and the only women he gushed about were from animes. but his crush on shin hwi, one of his first ever friends at aeon, was what basically made him admit, "well , i'm gay." could anyone blame him though? hwi is tall, handsome, friendly, smart and a true gentleman. he couldn't open up about his orientation though. with south korea's outlook on the lgbtq+ community, he would be hate-crimed like crazy. but, haejin was okay with his crush being a secret for now. like his parents said, everything happens for a reason. there will be a time for everything.

 

while jaehyuk was on good terms with people, there was one trainee he didn't get along well with. that trainee was named winston kang, born and raised in san francisco, jaehyuk's classmate at sopa and an exceptional dancer. jaehyuk was good too, but in haejin's eyes, winston had always been the better dancer. now, to be frank, saying that jaehyuk and winston didn't get along well as stated before would be a huge understatement. they had beef, it was obvious, mainly over the position of the "star dancer" of aeon entertainment, and they did everything they could to earn the title. what haejin would realize soon was what "everything" would entail for jaehyuk.

 

"did you hear the rumors about kang?" jaehyuk asked one day, plopping down on the hardwood floors of the practice room where haejin had been doing his warm up exercises to practice his vocals. "i can't believe the ceo is still keeping him here after all that!"

 

haejin turned to look at jaehyuk mid-warm up exercise and gave him a confused stare. "winston-ssi? what about him?"

 

"apparently he has–" jaehyuk looked around, as if something or someone was watching them before lowering his voice to a whisper. "two mothers."

 

*really?* haejin wanted to say. *that's what you're worried about?* while he did understand where jaehyuk was coming from, he didn't appreciate the negative tone the dancer's voice brought. talking about this in whispers is not necessary, having two parents of the same gender is not something to be ashamed of.

 

"o…kay?" the taller vocalist asked. "and?"

 

"what do you mean okay?!" the dancer screeched, almost distracting haejin and making him lose the note but he gathered his concentration and started doing the last part of his exercises. "he has two mothers, haejin!"

 

haejin exhaled quietly through his nose after finishing, reaching for the water bottle next to him, popping the cap open and taking a sip. "and what does a rumor have anything to do with him being a trainee?" he asked.

 

seeing jaehyuk's shocked face through the mirror, he continued. "let's say that the rumors are true. that he indeed has two mothers. he auditioned like everyone else, correct? so, what does his familial situation, which we have no right to be nosy about by the way, have anything to do with his skills? united states legalized gay marriage in 2015 and more countries are becoming more open and accepting towards the lgbtq+ community as a whole. regardless of all of those, that's a low blow, even for you, jae. i didn't know we were still judging people because of their families."

 

some time passed after that and rumors began swirling again, this time about aeon entertainment being on the path to debuting a new boy group. and haejin's lessons started to get more and more intense and his trainers were adamant on putting him with the same group of people for evaluations. which meant one thing, he was going to debut. haejin had also heard rumors of winston debuting alongside them, so he was excited to meet the dancer and hopefully strike up a friendship with him since they both spoke fluent (or near fluent in haejin's case) english.

 

except, when the time came, winston wasn't there. haejin got called to the ceo's office, meeting five pairs of familiar eyes as he entered. quickly sitting down in the empty seat next to hwi, haejin's eyes looked over at the trainees. seungjo, sangjun and himself were vocalists, hwi and yoonhoo were rappers and raehwan was a dancer. was this it? were they going to be–

 

haejin's thoughts were cut off as the door opened once again. "i'm sorry i'm late." a familiar voice chimed. "couldn't get out of class." looking up, haejin saw none other than moon jaehyuk enter the office and the fellow dancer took the empty seat next to seungjo, right across haejin, giving the vocalist a smile that didn't reach his eyes as he did so. the ceo then made the announcement. the seven trainees in his office were going to be their new boy group, named n-igma. and after grueling weeks of recording, photoshoots and practices, the seven boys finally debuted with their debut song "yolo", on october 6, 2018. haejin was the main vocalist and leader, and while he knew that the tasks he would have to face were hard, he couldn't be happier. he had achieved his dream. he had debuted.

 

they immediately got to work after that, appearing on variety shows to get the name of n-igma, and their names, out there and gather a solid fanbase. and they had a comeback once again, this time with the song "new world". and as taxing as everything was, especially with him as leader, haejin wouldn't change it for the world. the group got along splendidly and considered each other as family, with haejin and hwi being the "parents" of the group.

 

after the promotions of "new world", n-igma were given a month-long break before comeback preparations would start again. they had a celebratory lunch on the day their break was announced, haejin made the food obviously, and that night, hwi and haejin stayed up late, as the only two members left awake in the dorms, the others having gone to visit their families or friends and jaehyuk sleeping in his room.

 

"i still can't believe it, you know?" hwi said, taking a sip from the tea haejin had prepared for them. "what would you have done if someone just came up to you like, i don't know, three years ago and told you you'd be debuting as an idol?"

 

"i'd be hopeful, to be honest." haejin answered, sipping his own tea. "being an idol was my lifelong dream after all."

 

hwi chuckled. "and now, look at you. you're the leader and main vocalist."

 

"yeah." haejin said, staring down at his tea. "i'm here. with the kids. with you." he looked up at hwi with a smile as he said the last part, both of them immediately looking away after they realized what haejin said. something suddenly struck the main vocalist, and for whatever reason, he found that he had enough confidence for it to speak on its' behalf.

 

"hwi hyung, i need to tell you something." feeling hwi's curious gaze on him, haejin continued. "but this should stay between the two of us. not a single soul should know. not even the members. okay?"

 

hwi nodded. "you know you can tell me anything." he took a sip from his tea.

 

"i'm gay." and out that sip went, the taller rapper coughing and haejin stood up to bring him a glass of water. "are you okay?"

 

"yeah. *cough* yeah i'm fine. the tea just went down the wrong pipe." hwi took a few sips of the water the vocalist brought over. "about what you just said though, really?"

 

haejin nodded, not looking at the rapper as he stared down at his tea like it was the most interesting thing in the world.

"i'm not straight either." the vocalist whipped his head up in shock, staring at hwi with wide eyes.

 

this time, it was the rapper who was looking down at his mug of tea. "i do like women. i'm biual, not that it matters much. the person i like is a man." he lifted his gaze back onto haejin's. "and he's sitting right across me at this moment."

 

and just like that, hwi and haejin got together, keeping it a secret from everyone as per haejin's request. everything was going great…

 

…until jaehyuk pulled him aside one day after they took a break from practicing their upcoming song, "omgt".

 

"so, you and hwi hyung are dating, jinnie?"

 

"i don't know what you're talking–" *slap*

 

"don't lie to me. i overheard you coming out to him that day." silence. a nod from haejin, signifying everything. "there you go. that wasn't so hard now, was it? so, this is what we're going to do."

 

and the torment started. jaehyuk bullied haejin relentlessly, abusing him verbally through hateful nicknames, destroying his personal property and even getting physically violent, with one incident involving setting the shower water to be extremely cold and pouring the water on haejin in the company showers and filming it, keeping it in a hard drive for obvious reasons. and he also reminded haejin constantly to keep his mouth shut, threatening to expose him to everyone and ruining his dreams forever, since no company would want… a gay man, but with an f, in their roster. jaehyuk actually had the means to make that happen, his father was an important shareholder of aeon entertainment and just an influential man in general.

 

the bullying continued well into their promotions and haejin began suffering from panic attacks, having at least two in the span of a week. and following a hospital visit after yet another panic attack, marking his fourth one that week, haejin was diagnosed with general anxiety disorder and panic disorder, and prescribed ssri's. the bullying did not get better, in fact it got worse, in the form of jaehyuk stealing his medication or not allowing him to take it until haejin did something jaehyuk told him to.

 

right as the promotions for their song "emptiness" was coming to an end, on 2019, haejin had enough. after a horrible panic attack one day during break, he made the decision to preserve his sanity and went to the ceo's office after practice was done for the day, requesting to leave the group and have his exclusive contract terminated. when asked the reason why, all haejin could think about was jaehyuk's words.

 

"one word about this, and i'll make sure you won't get into any other company in south korea. after all, no company will want a…"

 

"as you know sir," he started, clasping his hands together to make the tremors less visible. "i was diagnosed with general anxiety disorder a month prior. with the tempo of the idol life, practicing and promotions, i believe my condition is getting worse despite the medication i am taking. so, i would like to focus on my health. could you please not reveal this information to the public though? i wouldn't want our fans to be upset because of my condition. personal problems should be okay."

 

the ceo of aeon was understanding and allowed haejin to terminate his contract, wishing him good luck on his treatment. on may 16, 2019, haejin formally left n-igma and aeon entertainment, with the ceo and news outlets citing the reason as "personal reasons" as per haejin's request.

 

it hurt. goddamn it, it hurt to leave all of them behind. but he knew he had to do this, or else jaehyuk would lead him to do worse things, maybe to them, maybe to himself. *this is for their own good.*, haejin reminded himself as he got into his sister's car, the upset, disappointed and hurt faces of the members, and the slight smirk on jaehyuk's, flashing through his mind. *it's all for their own good.*

 

 2019 – 2020!  haejin essentially became a hermit after that, deleting his private instagram account and kkt account, changing his number and cutting off contact with basically everyone, except for his best friend, oh my girl's arin who he had gotten close with after n-igma's promotions for yolo and oh my girl's promotions for remember me happened around the same time. he also started therapy again and was placed on a stronger dose of ssri's, as his anxiety and panic issues had gotten worse. he refused to tell his parents and sister what happened, until haerin made him spill the beans one day and he told her everything in a mess of tears, how jaehyuk overheard him come out to his crush and bullied him relentlessly.

 

to say that yoon haerin was pissed was an understatement. and one thing you must note about yoon haerin is that, if she's pissed at you, you're ed.

 

"i'm going to kill that bastard!" she snarled. "i'll make him regret ever being born. in fact, i'm calling a lawyer now. this is physical and mental violence." she reached for her phone.

 

"no!" haejin slapped the phone out of her hand, haerin staring at her brother in shock. "you can't. nobody can know. you won't call anyone. promise me, noona."

 

"haejin–"

 

"promise me, noona. you won't call anyone. i can't let the guys know the truth. let them think i left them. it's for their own good."

 

a few beats of silence passed before haerin sighed. damn her brother for wanting the good for everyone. "…fine. but you better focus on getting better."

 

a bunny smile was directed right at her. "yes ma'am!"

 

and focusing on getting better haejin did. he went to therapy regularly, adopted a cat who could act as an emotional support animal and named her mia, and his body finally adjusted to the ssri's, the horrible side effects finally bidding him goodbye. he also got in touch with arin and updated her on everything, making her promise not to tell a single soul about jaehyuk's actions, which she also begrudgingly agreed to even though haejin could tell from her voice that she was ready to smack him off his hinges. he finally settled into a new routine and was on the track to getting better.

 

but history always repeats itself, doesn't it? because, on his way back from therapy with his sister, haejin was stopped by a man in a crisp outfit again. guess what the man's job was? yep, a representative for an entertainment company, name not revealed. the man claimed that haejin had what it took to be an idol and handed him his business card, telling him that he hopes they can see him for an audition. just as haejin was about to reject it however–

 

"thank you!" haerin snatched the card from the man, placing it in the pocket of haejin's sweatpants. "he'll definitely consider auditioning." and with that, she bid the man a good day and the two siblings continued walking.

 

"noona, what are you doing?!" haejin yelled frantically once they arrived at haerin's apartment. "are you trying to cancel every effort i've made?"

 

"i'm not letting your biggest dream go to waste due to the actions of one insecure bastard." haerin snarled. "not everybody has the chance to be scouted twice in their lives, haejin. you said it yourself, being an idol was your biggest dream. you're given another chance, so why not take it?"

 

haejin didn't say anything, opting to go to his room instead and facetimed arin. arin said similar things when he told her about the scouter incident. "are you really going to let this chance go down the drain because of an idiot?" to be precise.

 

and the next day, haerin accompanied haejin to his audition for the company revealed to be called prism entertainment. and, just like before, when the acceptance call came, she helped haejin move into the trainee dorms, promising him that she'd take care of mia.

 

 PRISM ENTERTAINMENT (2020 – PRESENT)!  prism entertainment was a new start for haejin. nobody knew him there and he was like any other trainee, taking classes and joining evaluations monthly. and while he didn't find a social circle in prism unlike aeon, he was content that way, being on his own. even as more trainees came and went, haejin stayed in his own bubble, not letting anyone in, except around evaluation time when he'd have to interact with his partner.

 

his trainers, having noticed his quiet and closed off disposition, decided to leave him be and let him open up at his own pace. his friendliness wasn't the task at hand either, it was making sure that haejin's skills were polished to perfection. haejin bloomed once again in prism entertainment, leaving many trainees in awe of his vocal skills and making them look up to him as a role model. while some people, who surprisingly knew him as an n-igma member, chose not to interact with him or saw him as a threat, haejin didn't care. what mattered the most was his own skills, and he worked harder than ever in his life.

 

and the chance came to him once again. he was called to the ceo, jin siryeon's office and when he walked in, he was met with a bunch of people, some of whom he recognized, like song jinhwa and min garam, haejin had watched high school rapper, produce x 101 and next level, and some unfamiliar faces like hwang yeojin and choi yunbin. and, oh god, winston kang. and right then and there, ceo jin disclosed the reason she had called the boys into her office. they'd be prism entertainment's first boy group, under the name of vesper.

 

MEDIA PRESENCE.　before his debut with vesper, haejin was in the spotlight as the leader and main vocalist of n-igma, during which he showed his potential to be one of the best male vocalists and leaders of 4th gen. his abrupt departure from n-igma definitely left the fans shocked and upset, since aeon entertainment didn't state any other reason other than "personal reasons." for his departure. when he's announced to be debuting in vesper, fans feel like he "deserted" n-igma and left them behind when he should've been there for them as their leader. if only they knew what really went on behind the closed doors during that horrible, horrible time in haejin's life…

PAST EXPERIENCES.

 vocal classes!  haejin attended vocal classes every weekend since he was enrolled in 2009 up until he auditioned for and got accepted into aeon entertainment in 2016.

 n-igma!  haejin was active as the leader and main vocalist of n-igma, a seven member boy group under aeon entertainment between october 6, 2018 and may 16, 2019. to learn more about n-igma, click here!

 

HEADLINES.

 [breaking] n-igma's haejin to leave the group due to personal reasons  after the whole issue with moonhyuk and him threatening to expose haejin to everyone if he doesn't keep quiet about the bullying, haejin was left with no other choice but to leave to preserve his sanity. even though it pained him to leave s who had become his family at this point, and his boyfriend who he was still very much in love with, he couldn't take the risk of bringing them down with him. he didn't tell aeon entertainment officials what was going on behind the scenes, because they would definitely sue and a lawsuit meant everything being exposed, so when asked about his reason for leaving, he simply stated that his anxiety was becoming worse and he wanted to prioritize his mental health, also requesting that this reason not be revealed. thankfully aeon entertainment officials were understanding and he left the company on good terms, with the company disclosing his reason to leave as "personal reasons."

 

 former n-igma member haejin to debut in upcoming boy group vesper  it took a year for haejin to be picked up by prism entertainment after leaving aeon entertainment behind. even though he resisted harshly at first, not wanting to be discovered by moonhyuk, the words of his therapist, his family and arin encouraged him to keep following his dream. so he auditioned, got accepted and eventually made his debut with vesper, as the leader and lead vocalist of the group.

 

 "don't be that type of person that breaks the promise that they made." were moonhyuk's words hinting at haejin?  with vesper's debut and n-igma still promoting, there were times where they ran into each other backstage when their promotions overlapped with each other. while the n-igma members were shocked to hear what their leader was doing, they were even more surprised and upset to see him straight up avoiding them whenever they tried to talk to him. one night, members hwi and moonhyuk did a live stream where they were just chatting with the fans and doing a q&a of sorts when a question about being betrayed popped up. almost immediately moonhyuk started ranting about how people shouldn't break promises they made, despite hwi's numerous attempts to change the subject. while some fans tried to say that moonhyuk's rant was clearly towards haejin, fans were quick to shut them down, telling them that not every sentence needs to have a deeper meaning behind it.

 

CAREER ASPIRATIONS.

haejin's three wishes are not running into moonhyuk ever again, for his mental health to get better and for vesper to be happy, healthy and successful. he doesn't care about units or solos. as long as all of vesper are happy, healthy and successful, he's content.

ENDING COMMENTS.　so, i don't know if you saw my previous plotting page or not, but i was actually planning on tackling a completely different subject at first, sasaeng fans to be more precise. because i was like "nah, he couldn't have just left the group because they're not doing well. gasp WHAT IF HE WAS FORCED TO BY SOMEONE ELSE---" but as yanni and i plotted more and more, we came up with a lot of drama™ material, and i decided to scrap the sasaeng fan idea because i really liked the new route we took, which was basically bullying and nepotism. i was originally inspired by the story of, i think, first gen co-ed group s#arp when coming up with the currently storyline, i can send you a link of the story if you'd like. anyway, i digress, i hope you like haejin! also, the love interest part is still empty because yanni and i are still plotting about it. i'll let you know when it's done :3
