Ji Baram
"Who are you to tell me to smile? Bugger off."

OTHER NAME(S) : If applicable!
NICKNAMES:
Hwiparam - Whistle by Black Pink has been the bane of Baram's existence. Yes she's aware what her name means and yes, YES she knows her surname makes it sound even closer. It was cute the first time. Knock it off. Any number of people use this nickname, and she'll normally be mostly okay with it, but heaven save you if you decide to sing it to her in THAT way.

Stormy - The joke is that Baram often looks like she's cranky/tired. Or she's about to rain on someone's parade.

Cloudy - The first person to call her this is Joohyun. She couldn't recall stormy, so called her cloudy-unnie. Joohyun said she likes this nickname better. "Even when it's cloudy, there's sunshine behind it." (*disclaimer: Baram is now goo on the floor, watch out, don't slip)

LANGUAGE(S):
Korean: Fluent
English: Fluent (most of the countries she lived in overseas were english speaking, so she grew up speaking both korean and english quite a bit)

German/French: Was once fairly conversational, but now speaks them very little and has to think to remember how to say certaion things. Also from her time spent abroad.

FACECLAIM: Yves (Loona)
BACK-UP: Yubin (Oh My Girl)

HEIGHT: 170cm

APPEARANCE: Baram is considered on the taller side, and generally speaking is also considered pretty and attractive. But one thing about Baram is she tends to have a resting face, so people tend to think she's in a bad mood or displeased somehow. She really isn't, but alas. Her build is more willowy, and there are times where they consider giving her padding for sure to make utfits looks more flattering.

STYLE: Simplicity is the name for Baram. Really it's because she can't bother to think through her style choices too much. It's so much easier to put together an outfit that's simple, chich, and timeless than trying to be trenmdy and mismatch herself into fashion oblivion.

Insp: Some of Yves actual airport looks

PERSONALITY

Positive: Honest, Forthright, Loyal, Mature, Diligent

Neutral: Protective (reluctantly?), Pragmatic, Empathetic (probably a total tsun tsun, lbr)

Negative: Controlling, Austere, Confrontational, Cranky, Tempermental

"Everyone always says watch out for Baram when she's in a mood. It's like one of those big storms that creep up on you before the thunder starts and you're then drenched." - a groupmate (probably)

You know how every group has that one friend who has to play team parental figure because others around her are either fighting or acting a fool or just can't come to a consensus? If you don't know, then you haven't met Baram yet. Baram is both a judge and jury when things get chaotic and hectic. She thrives in chaos simply because it doesn't seem to faze her. Or at least, not in the way folks expect. When others clam up or cry, Baram stands up tall and picks a fight. If Baram deems you to be the problem, she will make you her problem and handle it directly and pragmatically. She shrinks at the idea of being considered a "mom" of the group because frankly she's not quite that nurturing; but liken her to an angry mama bear? That's probably closer to be accurate.

Baram takes on lead roles mostly because it makes sense in so many ways. She's mature and concentious enough to not make rash decisions. Some call her a judge because she often takes one step back and mentally weighs situations accordingly, as there's no need to complicate things if there is simpler solution. She honors her word and values rules/laws/governance given as there is probably a good reason these things are in place. Baram can be relied upon to ensure all ger commitments are met. She is fair though, and often tempers her expectations of others, especially those close to her, so as not to be terribly harsh to them. But oh man, does she need to work on her bedside manner ast times. Because lets be clear: while a carer and leader, Baram is the last person who would ever call herself nurturing. She's the type to come to you when you're at your low and not coddle you or give you fake platitudes. She will, however, help you figure out the next steps and how to avoid the issue in the future. And then, when you're not looking, might go pick a fight with who or whatever was the cause of the distress. Hence - Mama Bear, not team mom. She doesn't always intend on being harsh or blunt, but being raised around a bunch of "airheads" (as she refers lovingly to her family) just defaults her to this approach because sometimes niceties don't get you the results you need or want. This makes her come off as far more harsh and cold than she means to be. Deep down, Baram is very soft hearted and actually wants to care for others and their wellbeing. She just has a hard time letting that dispotion shine through more until she matures and gets older, in which case her ropugher exterior is definitely tempered and lighter. Early on, she often contends more aggressively and assertively with others, but as she ages and matures, her more nurturing and comforting side comes to the surface more.

It's just sometimes she leans too far into her more authoritarian, "paternal" side that she forgets she has a bit of a sensitive heart. She'd just rather you assume she's a hardass over take advantage of her sentiments honestly. But she is always in carer mode it seems. She's the one who makes sure everyone has everything they need before leaving the dorm, practice room, or all of the above. This also makes her seem rather cranky and cantakerous because when she can't get a situation under control, her annoyance is apparent. However, people who get to know Baram and see beyond that little bit of gruff exterior knows she's actually a bit of a pushover and is just as easily maniopulated by being sweet or kind to her as she is to be annoyed at someone.

Because you see, Baram is a fighter. She will never lay down and just take whatever comes just tomkeep the peace per se. She will square up and take on the issue head on. She has often gotten in trouble for speaking her mind and fighting for what she thinks is right or just on so many occasions. Don't worry if you can't or feel like you can't defend yourself. Baram will do it for you. If she were a more bubbly persona, she might strike a pose and declare she fights for peace, love, and justice!! But that's terribly against character, so she'll just kick someone instead, please and thank you. People in authority who overextend their power or even fans who overstep are often in for a rough time when Baram is concerned. She is increadibly protective

Baram, really really struggles early in her career finding a balance. She, deep down, wants to let loose and be as carefree as the others abotu things, but life doesn't seem to let her. Or so she tells herself. Being made leader just added to that conundrum. So she relies on her more austere, stone front. She'll be the wall, she'll hold the door, because that's what she knows and relies on. And you can bet she will use that front to protect her girls as much as she can.

BACKGROUND

Baram is the oldest of three siblings. And honestly? That's one too many for the Ji household. Not because they couldn't afford their three daughters, but because with their chaotic, busy, hectic lifestyle? Not exactly the most stable of enviroments for them.

To start from the beginning, Baram's parents met while on vacation in Australia. It was whirlwind romance filled with adventure and all sort of...well, romantic things. They married soon after and their fairytale life just continued. Even after they had Baram, their globetrotting lifestyle didn't let up.

Insert Yeoreum, sister number 1 to Baram. Did they slow down? Absolutely not. And then came Bom, and they still didn't slow down. Baram will tell you they never had a set home for very long in her early life. They spent a few months in Australia, then New Zealand, a stint in the U.S., up to Canada, trotting along through The UK then France and then Germany.  Their parents were, to outsiders, some of the best and most amazing that you could have. What other child could say they've been across the globe? But for Baram, though her parents never made or expected her to be it, she became the point of stability for her sisters. She was the one who made sure they had some structure in their day, read them bedtime stories on the regular, and was the one they went to when they had trouble since they didn't want to trouble their parents. Her parents are good people: a bit air headed and too lofty, but good people.

That's how Baram became the mature one of the household. Even her parents always commented on how she was the parent more than them sometimes. And it was after this realization that the Ji family finally settled back down on a more permanent basis in Seoul. They saw their daughter was growing up too fast and wanted her to not have to worry anymore. So they finally settled back in Korea and Baram started her more stable life.

Honestly, nothing of note really happened except she fell into a love of dance and performance. Ever encouraged by her parents, Baram felt empowered to take it to the next level, beyond school functions. She attended a performig arts school and dance academy, and always had it in her mind that before university, she'd like to try being an idol. It was a silly idea really, something she decided upon watching the music programs and copying the dances and deciding "yeah, I could totally do this."

She didn't have to wait long though as she was approached by a Prism rep.

TRIVIA

- a caffeine addict. If she doesn't have black coffee in the morning, she might shoot someone.

- she often gets into disagreements withe company if they push the group too hard. It's not always in front of others though, so it's not uncommon to see Baram get pulled into a meeting and come out with a scowl.

- She is absolutely soft for any animal. If Rendevous ever do a show with animals, Baram will melt.

- speaking of melting, ice cream is her absolute favorite thing.

- She is actually surprisingly shy in front of cameras, especially when put on the spot. She will go quiet, clam up, try to stand straight, and try to not make awkward eye contact with the camera or camera person. This is different from when she is performing for cameras, more like vlogs and other more personal things.

- Any male celebrities are going to have a hard time with Baram. Not because they try to exchange numbers with her or anything, but if they try anything with her members, she will shut that down with a glare and firm shake of the head "Not on your life, bud."

- She has a bit of a flower allergy, so any flower gifts or even being in a shop with flowrs makes her just a little more miserable.

- Baram doesn't smile as much as some folks would like. Her neutral face is resting face for sure. But don't tell her that. She absolutely hates being told to smile more.

- she adores horror movies, though prefers supernatural scares over slashers.

- She, despite often doing so for her sisters growing up, cannot cook well. Her cooking is...passable, but please have someone else cook unless you want the blandest ramen ever for dinner.

RELATIONSHIPS

Jin Siryeon - Sees the front Baram puts up and constantly guides her to loosen up and embrace things a bit more. Baram appreciates the honest feedback she gets from Siryeon, and also looks up to Siryeon as a strong woman who has made it in the industry. Her relationship with Siryeon is what initially inspires Baram to consider where her future career might take her. When younger Baram gets into trouble, she takes it the hardest when Siryeon is disappointed in her the most. Baram will admit, later ,that her desire to make their CEO proud pushed her a lot early in her career. Sometimes Baram thinks too deeply into it though, and should realize she doesn't have to try and be so hard on herself just to please Siryeon.

Sohn Eunbi - Eventually becomes one of the few people Baram lets walls down around and just vents towards. Later in life they become coffee friends and often meet up reguarly. She is something of a mentor for Baram as well since eventually, the career Eunbi has is something Baram begins to see for herself as a possiblity.

Lee Suran - Sometimes Suran and Baram heads as Baram often takes lead and oversteps a bit when it should be Suran taking charge. The fights don't last long though, and its interesting because if you ask Suran, she will tell you Baram is both her least problematic and most problematic member to manage.

Kang Wooseok - For the longest time, Baram has a crush on him. Compared to Suran, Wooseok has such an easy time with Baram. "Baram, can you go get me the keys-" "Yes oppa, here they are. And a bottle of water." It's just a silly crush honestly. What is it about Baram liking people who are kinda cinnamon rolls? She has a type, she swears. She can reflect on it later in life with a laugh because it really was silly how she'd proclaim he was the most annoying, when in actuallity she thought he was so dang cute.

PRISM ENTERTAINMENT

STAGE NAME: Bara
POSITIONS: Leader, Lead Dancer, Rap
TALENT TWIN(S): Olivia Hye (Loona)

PAST EXPERIENCE(S): Baram is a dancer since she was little. Ballet, some tap, jazz, all those things (when they had time to enroll her in such classes of course!). Once settled in Korea for an extended period of time, Baram joined the Dance Clubs and teams of her school (Lila Art High School). She often found herself in a center position or coordinating with the others on choreogrpahy While not always the best dancer, Baram is charismatic and takes the time to really embrace what she is dancing. Later, at the encouragement of her parents who were trying their damndest to make up for a childhood of putting her sisters first, she began classes at 1Million Dance Studio. Her and some of her classmates had their own exhibition and videos of it became a bit popular online. That's how she was scouted initially. After being tapped, company reps watched her at 1Million, and her becoming a trainee was all set.

Rapping is something she didn't really start until she was an actual trainee. It's passable as far as idols goes she thinks.

TRAINEE LIFE: She started in Prism in 2017, and trained for about 9 months before debut.

Being a trainee was enjoyable for Baram honestly. She did well with the rigour and really loved the actual training itself. This was something that was genuinely for herself, not for her sisters or parents. However, she did develop a reputation as no nonsense amongst the other trainees. Despite that, and despite her proclaiming they should leave her alone, Baram still found herself being an older sister figure to a lot of the trainees. They begin turning to her for decision making and leadership, which Baram just sort of falls into doing again. It's one of the reasons why, when debut came up, she was selected as the leader. She'd already established herself as a respected enough presence for a good number of the girls that it felt natural and easy to slot her into it.

After debut, Baram will still say training was one of her happiest times as it was the first time she really felt like it was something for herself, rather than for others.

MEDIA PRESENCE: Baram was mostly an unknown until Prism starts putting out predebut content of Prism Girls. That's where she becomes known as "cap girl" because often during practices Baram wears a black ball cap and hides her eyes behind it. It's later, after her name is revealed and her debut with Rendevous announced, that they put it together that Baram is Cap Girl. Later, Baram starts posting some of herself doing covers of popular dances, both Korean and Western.

HEADLINES:
BARA IS RUDE TO FANS ON VLIVE/FANSIGN/AIRPORT:
Very much true to an extent. Baram has very low tolerance for fans overstepping. It's probably why she has a smaller fanbase than some of the others. Baram will let fans know they are too much and will physically put herself between them and a groupmate if it comes down to it. Hurt or disturb her groupmate? Not on her watch, buddy.

BARA TO SIT OUT ON *insert events* DUE TO HEALTH?: While there will certainly be times Baram may be ill, there will also probably be at least one instance where she picks a fight with a company employee for some slight against her girls, so she might be punished a bit by being forced to sit out and cool down.

CAREER ASPIRATIONS: Bara really loves working in the industry she finds. She's pragmatic enough to know that being an idol can't last forever, so she wants to branch out. This includes going to university to study more on the business side of things and how to create and produce. Either she'll be behind the camera giving creative direction and input, or she's going to be on some board of directors damnit. She's here to enjoy the life of being a young idol for as long as she can, so she's eager to take on variety and guest spots on shows. Once in a while, she does get tapped to model and such, but Baram is much happier stepping back and letting the more popular members take on those things.

LOVE INTEREST

BACK-UP LOVE INTEREST: Matchmake!

FACECLAIM: Gahyeon (Dreamcatcher)
BACK-UP:

DATE OF BIRTH:
OCCUPATION: Idol

PERSONALITY: You know her best! :D

LOVE STORY: The other 2 percent of Baram's heterouality that is unaccounted for? That turned into a bit of soul searching and became reserved for one person: her groupmate, Joohyun.

In the beginning, Baram would often just hang back with Joohyun during various activities. It wasn't out of a desire to hang out with her by any means. If anything, Baram was making sure Joohyun wasn't falling behind or being excluded. Baram takes her role as leader seriously, and that includes checking in on her groupmates and that they're doing well.

It really shouldn't be complicated. If anything, people see them as a good leader and her dongsaeng in many ways. Baram often encourages Joohyun to speak up when she is in her quieter moments. If someone isn't listening to Joohyun, Baram shushes them and turns to Joohyun expectantly, waiting for her to make her own opinions and ideas known. It really did start off with Baram just wanting to give Joohyun equal space and time since she doesn't always seem to grab at it for herself. Baram just genuinely wants Joohyun to feel happy and safe, so she's willing to be there every step to help out.

That's how it started. Baram was a good unnie and leader for Joohyun, and it caught on real quick that Baram always had a soft spot for Joohyun. Baram could be in the foulest of moods, but one touch or a few words from Joohyun instantly lightened it. Baram would at first always assume its because she had a soft spot for Joohyun, like one might have for a puppy. But it really was more than that as years went by. It took Baram quite a bit of time to recognize it for what it really was...

...and that realization was a real hard thing for Baram to come to terms with. Her newly discovered very NOT platonic feelings for Joohyun added a level of conflict for Baram that she never wanted. 1. She was pretty certain she'd never thought this about any other girl. Her past crushes were always men (see: Wooseok). 2. How was she supposed to navigate this?? Baram placed a heavy burden of taking care of the others on herself, of being fair and arbitrary. But this...this colors everything so differently now. How was she supposed to be arbitrary when she's basically in love with her groupmate? 3. Did she mention Joohyun is a girl? What if she doesn't even feel the same? Is Baram deluding herself? IS SHE DELUSIONAL?

At the very least, Baram wants to ensure Joohyun knows she can rely on her. Whether romantic or plantonic isn't important. It's important that Joohyun feels safe and enabled to succeed. So Baram can keep these things to herself long enough to see it all happen and maybe it will go away like a silly crush.

Long story short, it doesn't.

Ah. .

tl;dr: Baram struggles with her realization she loves a girl, let alone a groupmate, and has to make peace and come to terms with it while struggling with not knowing if she feels remotely the same.

TRIVIA:
Joohyun can literally ask for almost anything from Baram once their relationship solidifies. Baram will be behind her 100 percent, no questions asked.

Initially, Baram will say Joohyun is annoying, but that doesn't ever stop her from doing whatever she can to make her comfortable and to feel secure.

Without knowing it, Baram tends to sit farthest away from Joohyun. This seems like it's because she doesn't like her, but really it's so Baram can watch her more clearly.

Baram gets shipped with a lot of the members (yes, she's read the fanfiction...shudder), but suprisingly Joohyun is not as popular of a ship for her.

CURRENT RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Groupmates, Unnie/Dongsaeng (I left a lot of this ambiguous as she is your character, so what she goes through on her end, should you accept Baram and this romance option, I didn't want to get it too wrong and allow you creative freedom!)

ENDING RELATIONSHIP STATUS: I leave this up to you as she is your character as well! Surprise me or indugle me in a happy ending ;; But! Should you rather pair Baram with someone else, male or female, please feel free to do so!

Oh Haniiiiiii (aka Hani)

COMMENTS: VERY much based on S.Coups and his statement on how he'd fight with company people. Also based on Baekhyun's reactions to ty fans and so on~ i'm sorry for the poorness and if this feels rushed. I really hit a block and tried to get this done. Thank you for the patience.

SCENE SUGGESTIONS: I really want a beach scene for some reason. Like, all the girls enjyoing the beach, grilling on the sands, and so on. Just some wholesomeness~

DISCOGRAPHY SUGGESTIONS:

Oh My Girl: Nonstop, Dun-Dun-Dance, Guerilla
LOONA: Butterfly, Flip That
WJSN: New Me, Kiss Your Lips

IN THE SCENARIO THAT YOUR CHARACTER IS NOT CHOSEN, DO I HAVE YOUR PERMISSION TO USE YOUR CHARACTER SOMEWHERE ELSE IN THE STORY?: Absolutely!
