HAN Soyi
BIRTH NAME: 한소이
OTHER NAME(S)
Soy-Sauce: A play on her name and mostly just teasing from close friends and her sister. Sometimes, a not so nice person might also use it derogatorily. "So salty like soy sauce" or "you're no more interesting than soy sauce" She altogter doesn't like it except for one person since it comes from a kinder place than teasing..

DATE OF BIRTH 19/01/00
BIRTHPLACE Seoul, SK
HOMETOWN Seoul
NATIONALITY South Korea
ETHNICITY Korean

LANGUAGES Korean | Native
English | Advanced Basic? - what the company has essentially forced down to learn. Language is a thing that is a touchy subject for Soyi. She has trouble learning a new language, whereas Jumi has an actual aptitude for it. It's ust another thing she lacks in the eyes of those around her.

FACECLAIM Suhyeon - Billie
APPEARANCE AND STYLE

Style: Colors are your friend! While not a big pattern girl per se, Soyi always likes a good graphic or color block when she can get away with it. Gray and blacks are not her go tos by any means, even if they look clean and chic. She is the first willing to wear a silly costume or whatever is leftover from the stylists. Not neccessarily because she likes it, but because asde from liking colors, she's not particular on fashon or style.

The horror though when she is not being professionally styled. Messy bun, glasses, clothes that are worn and old and oh so comfy!

PERSONALITY

If there is one thing people assume of Soyi at first glance, its that she seems like such a well mannered, professional girl. She hardly complains and seems to work hard! Earnest in her efforts, eager to help others succeed, what isn't there to like about polite and sweet Soyi? She is sweet, easy going, oh so happy to go along with the flow! She reminds a lot of people of her older sister, Jumi who is also known for her well mannered and sweet personality. Soyi must be just like her!

Well she might be some of those things, but Soyi really up-plays those aspects of herself...and really downplays others. Think of Soyi like a thorn on a rose with layers of wax covering it to keep it from hurting people. The thorn is still there, but now it's much more safe and so very unnatural.

For one, she may genuinely want to be kind, but its not always in the quiet, sweet girl next door sort of way. She'd rather smack you on the back and tell you to buck up buttersup its going to be fine! She'd rather kick off her pretty, expensive heels to go climb a tree barefoot. When not in front of professionals, maybe when just with those she feels comfortable, Soyi drops the prim and proper. She is terribly expressive and just a little too loud when she gets worked up. Her sister often would have to tell her to calm down and Soyi responded, "Too much?" with a laugh. She speaks frankly, with a dry sense of humor, and is in general a fun loving, and happy person to be around.

There's a freespiritedness about Soyi with a hint of devil may care angle that lets her roll with things so easily. If you see the real Soyi, it's a happy girl with the language of a sailor that would make any person blush. Tomboy is how her parents described her, spirited is how her sister talks about her. They aren't wrong. Soyi just wants to laugh freely. Who even laughs "pretty"? That's a lie! She is the one who would stand up and kick someone on the side of the head if it meant fighting some injustice she sees in front of her. She has this idealism of wanting the world to be fair and kind to everyone. If Soyi can't be the one to fix it, she can be the one there to help you put it back together.

Alas, this is not something the career path she has chosen really wants her to be. These days, she is quiet, reserved, prim and proper in front of cameras. This is the persona Soyi has convinced herself she must be because this must be who they want right? Her manners are practiced and well done. Even her walk is intended to be the ideal, modest feminine sort. This stems from Soyi's desire to succeed. In the past, she was spirited enough to pursue her dreams unabashedly, with loud and clear intent. Some say that this is what got Soyi to where she is now. Her drive to be great was astounding...and then it wasn't. She begins to swallow and internalize the feedback she receives.

Be like this, be like this person, be more this, be less this. Soyi has a habit of listening too closely to what people say. It's great for when she is listening to someone and helping them; completely awful when it comes to critique and feedback. Whereas she was once more confident, she is now more apt to bow her head and try to do as they say. Soyi, the real Soyi, can't be who these people want, right? So she tries so hard to be the perfect doll...like her sister. Only she is not nearly as perfect, and it's obvious. Her professional image carefully crafted since she assumes that is what she has to do. Is it though?

But bitterness stews beneath. Every harsh word or comment, every comparison, every cut line or moment to shine, all of this takes a sliver of what once was her hopes and dreams until all the unspoiled parts are gone. All that remains is a pit hardened to stone, trying so hard to not let the final bit of her go. She is becoming resentful of those around her, jealous and angry that she can't be good enough to anyone. Even if she has the drive and energy, as strong if not stronger than those around her, why isn't SHE the one deserving of something for herself? These thoughts plague her as she smiles and bows and apologizes for the mistake she surely just made.

She wants to be that girl with hopes and dreams, who thought she absolutely could be everything she wanted. She doesn't even know what that is anymore though as time goes by. She hates how bitter she has become, but without something to hold onto, who else can she be? Who she sees now is a copy of her sister...and she doesn't like it...not really. Soyi wants to jump up and scream out, "I HATE ALL OF THIS!" and have someone appreciate her as Soyi again.

BACKGROUND

Han Junsu, a name any one in the musical theater industry should be familiar with. Once a musical actor, he now acts as a producer and designer for some of the most popukar musicals in South Korea, based out of Blue Square. *disclaimer: I have no idea how this really works but lets gloss over it...DX... and then there's his wife, Song Chaeyeon who was also an actress and worked on various dramas in her youth. So when they had 2 daughters, would you fault anyone for expecting them to not be amazing and successful? That's how our story starts for their youngest, Han Soyi.

Soyi and her older sister, Jumi, were raised in the theater. Music and performance was essentially born into them. Soyi remembers being backstage, clinging to her sister, watching the amazing performances of so many talented people. They even were part of a show or two as little actresses for small roles. The Hans were always a close-knit family and honestly, Soyi can only say positive things about growing up.

So when at 14 and 13, the Han sisters decided they too wanted to be in the entertaiment industry, no one was really all that surprised. So while they had stage experience, maybe a little musical talent from exposure, they began their training and learning to be part of the idol world. Why didn't they decide to be in theater like their parents, you might ask? Well, simply put, they were, like many other young people, fans of kpop artists. They had merch from their favorite groups and got excited for comebacks like anyone else would. Maybe their parents assumed they'd lose interest eventually, or maybe they'd move on to something else after a few tries. Nay, nay, they say. What surprised everyone was when both girls auditioned for the same company, and got in successfully three years later. Their dancing and comfort being in the spotlight definitely left an impression.

That's how the Han Sisters entered MMC. That's how their idyllic life, at least for Soyi, began to crumble.

trivia
  RELATIONS
- Soyi will eat any and all spicy food. She loves it. Legitimately, they have yet to find anything too spicy for her. It's become a fun challenge now.

- The Han sisters, when they decided to get into entertainment, went to a store together and got one of those little heart necklaces where they split so each person gets a half. Soyi has the left, Jumi the right. Soyi usually wears hers on the same chain as her ring.

- She is near sighted, but has not gotten laser eye surgery yet. It's manageable and she can function with contacts most days, glasses on others, and without either fairly competently.

- She has had some minor PS to correct some nose imperfections, but got scared to do more when her parents showed her surgeries gone bad.

- Swears so well it would make mothers grasp their children aghast! No but really, Soyi and her whole family actually swear quite a bit. They just usually know how to tone it down in front of others XD

- Funny enough, Summer was chosen as her stage name to reflect her sunny and bright spiritedness from her trainee days. The person who recommended the stage name recalled this and offered it. It's a shame that something more like "dreary winter" might be better for her now.

- Cannot swim well and dislikes deep water. Boat trips are absolutely AWFUL for her.

- She really likes sweet, bubbly drinks. She dislikes coffee and will opt for soda when she can get away with it.

- Her playlist is ecclectic and varied, though currently her favorite song is by one of her favorite artists, Kim Seunghoon, Shine. Though honestly she love just about anything he does.

- Desperately wants more opportunties to showcase herself, be it in performance or variety or something. She's scared of what her life will be if she fails at this idol business (her parents already have a back up plan to get their daughters in the family business should their careers fail)

- She's quit affectionate and is always willing to offer a hug or cuddle to a groupmate if needed. Doori approves!
HAN JUMI  / Older Sister / 21 / ACTRESS w/ Awesome Ent. (company that has Kim Soojung and Park Seojun) / Outgoing, Gregarious, Ambitious, Kind-Hearted but Dense, Naive to an extent

FC: Kang Mina

Jumi is the kind of person with a never say die attitude. Once she puts her mind to something, she is indomitable. Some have likened her to being a heroine in a drama or manhwa. She is literally a main character. This is what makes her so infuriating to Soyi. How do you dislike someone like her? She is kind and never cruel, well liked by her costars and the staff of the productions she works on. Perfectly splendid! And yet, all her charms rub Soyi all wrong. For lack of better words, Jumi is who Soyi wishes she could be. So is it any surprise that Soyi tries to emulate the things about Jumi that people seem to like so much versus what makes Soyi SOYI? Jumi, for all her good intentions, doesn't seem to notice the turmoil her sister goes through. Why should she? She was picked over Jumi to debut, so clearly her sister must be doing well, right? ...Right?

It wasn't always like this. They were joined at the hip while training together. Any time one or the other had success, the other wasn't far behind with pom poms and shouts of encouragement. They were as close as any siblings could be. You never had one sister without the other far behind. They always came as a package deal, take it or leave it.

But as the disparity between them grows, so does Soyi's resentment. What if things were reversed? Would Soyi have the success Jumi has? Or would it not have mattered since maybe Soyi is the problem? These thoughts keep growing ever louder and louder, and Soyi is becoming less able to silence them. Jumi may not always see it until it's too late. Her ambivalence and assumption that things are fine may be the last thing Soyi needs.

The affection slowly fades from Soyi for Jumi...and Jumi may be realizing something is very wrong afterall. Maybe Soyi needs her big sister more now than ever, rather than this image she keeps in her mind.

MIN SEOJIN  / Groupmte / 18? /

Seojin is who Soyi wishes she could have been to the company. She seems to have all eyes on her. At first, Soyi saw Seojin as her cute, talented junior in the company. Both she and her sister did their best to treat Seojin kindly and were endeared by her even if her personality could be prickly at times.

After her sister was kicked from the company, Soyi finally became aware of how praised and favored Seojin was. Seojin is what Soyi had wanted to be, and was close to being at one point. She couldn't fault Seojin for it, if she were honest.

But in the darker parts of her mind, Soyi kind of hates Seojin. She hates that she hates her, but its something she can't deny. She truly wishes that voice would silence so she could offer the younger girl love and support only. Especially if they both looked deeper, they might realize they are uner the same pressure and scrutiny.

MIN DOORI / best friend and groupmate / 21? / App

Sans Jumi, Doori was the person Soyi grew closest to in their trainee days. If Soyi hadn't been with Jumi, Doori was somewhere nearby. They genuinely care about the other's well-being. Doori is always the first person Soyi checks in with, be it during practice or performing or just to ask what they should eat on their meager diet budget. With Jumi, they were a pack and trifecta. Without Jumi, they became the new joined at the hip pair.

Alas, as with many other things, Soyi begins to notice how Doori excels. She can't fault her for it. Doori was stigmatized as much as Soyi in their early days. But when Doori begins gaining the fan and spotlight...what is she to do? Doori was her safe space for a long time, and now it feels like that might be fading. Again, Soyi can't fault her for this: its beyond her control. But if that little voice in her head isnt awfully loud sometimes. Doori is still her person, regardless.

With the 2Mins, Soyi begins to realize her bitterness is getting to a breaking point...and she doesn't know what to do to make it stop. She knows it needs to stop, but how can she break the cycle?
PLOTLINE  The Lesser
POSITION
Main Dancer, vocal, rap
TALENT TWINS Chaeryeong - ITZY

TRAINEE YEARS  4 Years

TRAINEE LIFE
Joining at the same time as her sister, the pair were always seen together at practice. They were near inseperable. The Han sisters were a set and you had to have both if you wanted to befriend one. But more so, what made them well known amongst the trainees, aside from being sisters and always together, was their aptitude. They were both fairly good dancers, and only seemed to improve more and more as they trained. Heck, you could toss a vocal or rap section to them as a fill and it was competent enough. They were by no means considered monster-trainees or anything like that. But they were definitely well known in the trainee population. They were even comfortable with the scrutiny and being under a spotlight. They seemingly could do no wrong. And they are sisters! Pretty sisters who can do a little of everything. Why would MMC not debut them together and bank on that novelty?

That's how things were for the first three years at least. One thing they lacked, and it became steadily more and more apparent, was that innate charisma and stage presence. As other trainees excelled and moved to the front of the class, the dominance they once enjoyed faded. While not terrible by any means, they were no longer the stars. So it wasn't that surprising when three years in, the CEO made some decisions. The sisters knew they were being scrutinized, so their hard work increased. The pressure to remain perfect trainees was at the limit as they forgoed so much to impress.

Unfortunately, it wasn't enough. The decision was made that they simply didn't need, have room, or wanted two Hans. They didn't need the sisters together. So, they cut their losses. Moon Manchul made a decision on who he thought had the right star power for his new girl group. Han Soyi was his choice. Han Jumi dismissed. Soyi, feeling proud and sad at the same time, was determined to train harder and debut for both her and her sister's sake.

Funnily enough, it was a relief for Jumi. At the urging of her mother, who didn't want to see her eldest fail so easily, Jumi auditioned for an acting company instead. Jumi would not end up an idol, but a rookie actress. All too quickly, Jumi was cast in a drama that gained her some popularity even before Soyi had debuted. Soyi was so happy for her. And yet...with Soyi's impending debut and Jumi's success, she has heard Manchul more than once tell her to not disappoint. She had a lot to live up to since she was the chosen one, for lack of better words. It's no secret that Manchul began regretting his choice the moment Jumi was casted in her drama.

And that's how the seeds of deprecation were planted in and around Soyi. And even though she is debuting with Sol Ai, at MMC, and assured success? That doubt still remains as deosite her efforts, maybe because she tries so hard to be what is expected versus her genuine self more, the seeds sprout and grow bigger and stronger with each critique and mention of, "should have kept the other sister..."

And when she is outshined by those around her, the title of being the "lesser" sister begins to take on a life of its own afterall.

LOVE INTEREST NAME  Lee Hwan
FACECLAIM Yoo Taeyang
BIRTHDATE Something/Something/98

PERSONALITY  something something silly dumb thing but endearing af. You know him better than me! But! I imagine him as a himbo who means well, but just falls in love very quickly and out of it. He doesn't always think first or logically, which is what caues him to get into scandals. However, he is earnest and genuinely a nice guy who hasn't let his success get to his head too much, except when he uses it to impress the ladies and give him a way to approach them.

LOVE STORY Picture this. Soyi, or Sol Ai's Summer, is having a bad day. She'd just been given a callous comment from their CEO, got a call again from her parents gushing over something Jumi is doing for them ("oh, she sent us so many tasty fruits today!"), and nothing seems to go well today. She had to come back alone to the company building because she left her wallet.Today is the worst she has felt in a long time. She is barely keeping it together as it is, and then, just as she has decided to give up for the day, she feels someone run into her from behind and her bag goes flying out of her arms. Her items spill out onto the floor and without thinking, Soyi just-

"WHAT THE ABSOLUTE !@#$?! $%#@#$%#!!!! &*%&%#$!!!!!" She shouts in pure frustration the most colorful string of expletives she has ever used aloud. She is near ready to cry in so much frustration when the person she conveniently forgot was present was next to her, scarmbling to help her pick up her stuff.

"I'm so sorry! Is anything broken?"

Soyi can only watch in stunned silence as Hwan, of ZEU5 fame, is there helping her. Soyi just let loose the absolute worst language she could muster...in front of someone who could easily end her reputation and career...oh , what has she done?!!!

Soyi just stares at him in dumbfound horror, and Hwan just stares back, confused and assuming he must have done something really wrong afterall. Wait, does he know her? He feels like he should know her...

"Um, sorry but do I know you? Are you new here?" He asks in all sincerity. To be fair to him, he geuinuinely doesn't know her...or a lot of the newer people at the company for that matter.

That just rubs Soyi the wrong way even further and the shock immediately goes away, replaced by annoyance. She is this close, THIS CLOSE, to letting out a string of colorful language directed at him instead, but she grits her teeth, and responds that she is Soyi from Sol Ai-

"AH! SUMMER! RIGHT!" He's laughing at her...or, no, he seems to be laughing at himself more than anything. He apologizes to her again and helps her collect her stuff, being nothing but nice to her all the while. He even sputters a bit of an apology for not knowing who she was, because frankly he doesn't know a lot of the newer people at the company honestly. Well, actually, he knows one of the newer people.

"Hey, Mion is in your group right? Between us, is she single?"

"Oh, you don't know me, but you know Seojin?" She rolls her eyes and is about to say something biting back to his inquiry, but the moment of contrite on his face makes her stop and just sigh, "She's single as far as I know. But, come on, she's like, four years your junior. Do you think that's a good idea with her also being newly debuted? Come on now, use some common sense." She doesn't mean to be harsh, but Soyi knows his reputation and she'll be damned if she lets him anywhere near her younger groupmate.

Hwan, surprisingly, takes the feedback seriously, and nods and agrees with her. He admits to himself that she's right. Besides, there was someone else he was interested in, so maybe he'd pursue that instead. After he concedes, Soyi says her goodbyes and thy part. That should have been the end of thngs, right? Soyi comes away with realizing Hwan is just any other guy in the end, and Hwan can recognize Soyi amongst the sea of new idols.

Only it isn't. Because one day Soyi is contacted by Hwan.

"Hey, so-and-so is really pretty, don't you think?" Hwan found Soyi's words and warning from their first meeting really enlightening. So now, Hwan sees Soyi as someone with their head on straight and who has clarity on things. And to her initial dismay, Hwan begins contacting her to ask her opinion at first on his latest "interests". He really doesn't want another scandal for nothing, you know?

That's how they become friends. Soyi falls into the category of trusted ladyfriend Hwan comes to appreciate and respect. He even comments that she seems so brusque and honest around him, never coddling him, and he appreciates the heck out of it. Too often people approach him with this awe and expectation, but he's a simple guy who can take the truth. Soyi does that.

Soyi finds Hwan nice. He's just a nice guy, if a little oblivious. What's more, he doesn't seem really interested in her more mannered persona she puts up for work. She an breathe a little and just be Soyi around him without judgement. She also finds it terribly endearing that while he has his image and popularity, around Soyi that doesn't seem to matter. It was nice to have a close friendship where they are comfortable with each other. They make an odd pair: ever desireable Hwan, senior into his career and successful; and Soyi, the lesser sister and group member of Sol Ai who seems to lag behind no matter what she does.

So they continue like that for a time: Hwan connects with Soyi for advice, particularly to gush about a pretty girl from another group, and Soyi shaking her head and partially encouraging and discouraging him at the same time.

"Hwan-oppa, if ANYONE knew how dense and soft you really are, I don't think your fanbase could handle it."

"But YOU like me, right?"

"Yeah, yeah, now stop ogling the insertvisualname of insertgroupname, and really focus on what you actually like about her, hm?"

"Yes ma'am!"

Groupmates tease sometimes, but really, no one ever really considers it seriously that they're friendship could be anything but that. Theres no way, right?

If you really wanted complexity, when Hwan starts asking Soyi about Doori, her best friend in the group, that might be the one time she feels anything akin to jealousy and hurt during their relationship. Wait, why Doori? Why her? Yes, single and she's great and all, but why? Things begin feeling strained as she notices how Hwan and Doori grow closer...she distances herself. She feels something akin to...jealousy? Yes, she was jealous and it hurts to think Hwan, her , was giving someone else attention again over her? It strains her friendship with both of them, and she feels her loneliness begin to grow even more. Hwan, bless his heart, still tried to keep close to Soyi despite her own efforts. So what could she do? Ignore him? Certainly not an option at this point for her.

Besides, why be jealous? There's no way this was anything other than what it was, right?

That is, until one day after a break up and near scandal, Hwan is talking with Soyi who is listening while working on something at the same time. He pauses, and looks at her while she barely pays him any mind, and wonders why can' he just find a girl like her? Someone he can be friends with comfortably and not worry about his awkward moments ruining things? Someone he does't have to be Zeu5 Hwan with all the time? Why couldn't it just be as easy as it was with Soyi...waitaminute...

"Go on a date with me?"

"...come again?" What. The. Hell???

It's a bit of a slow roller coaster from there for them. In all seriousness, Soyi hadn't even considered him, or that he might consider her. But, what used to be meetups as friends are now are little dates. For a bit there, it is just a lot of doubt from her end on why the heck is he interested, and him being awkward and just trying his best to navigate a relationship he doesn't have to posture for. He saves her as "Soyi-sauce" in his phone, he's "Pabo" in hers. It's amazing how easily they fall into being significant others instead of just friends. It's not complicated honestly. Just a realization that they like, maybe even love, each other, and that should be the end of it, right? Soyi gets to be happy with Hwan? Happily ever after and all that for the pair? Please?

To say MMC disapproves of their blossoming relationship is quite the understatement...

tl;dr: Soyi finds herself as the confidant of popular Hwan, trying to help him make good choices with his love interests...only to find SHE has become the love interest. yadda yadda insert company politics and drama and fans and etc

YES SUHYEON !!! i love that the sole idea of having her as a fc was compelling enough to prompt a wip app devoid of any info other than her pictures. deserved.
