what is one thing people say when they their eyes upon hwang yeonji?

fire, fiery. she burns like a phoenix with neverending passion and energy like there is no tomorrow. her natural aura draws people's eyes to her everywhere she goes. her charm is being real, capturing others with a sense of warmth and comfort. she's very open and will drop whatever she has on hand or at task to give a friend an ear to listen to any woes or worries they might have. she gives equal amount of respect to everyone, never picking and choosing, which was how she was raised.

yeonji's energy is very contagious. she's spunky and fun-loving, the life of the party. she's always got a conversation starter in her pocket and can keep the conversation going for hours. she's sociable and not afraid to make new friends. she hits things head on with confidence and determination. she stands up for what she believes in and it doesn't matter if she's alone where she stands. she speaks the truth, doesn't find the appeal of beating around the bush. people look up to her for her reliability, knowing that she's a trustworthy friend that will always have their back.

it's never quiet when yeonji is around. her entire person screams loud and it's not just her voice, it's in her aura and the way she holds herself...which can be off-putting for others to say the least. introverts have a hard-time keeping up with her and her enthusiasm, her energy reaching high levels that they just feel tired by looking at her. competition is in her nature, healthy competition that is, but sometimes she can get carried away.

another side of yeonji is her impetuous side. she can be rather impulsive, especially when it comes to the things she likes or her family and friends. sometimes she may see a situation and act before fully reading it, which can cause more harm than good. and due to her strong conviction, it's to convince her the real story. her bull-headedness blends in well with her fiery passion, some people just letting it slide because one doesn't want to deal with it.

her being protective is one of her charming points, but sometimes it can get to high levels that maybe, just maybe, someone should tell her to back off. and with her stubborn streak, it can be one dangerous mix. she has more of the mindset of never wanting to see her loved ones in pain or upset and will try to fix, even if it means keeping them safe in a little bubble. another one might not associate with yeonji on principal is her naivety. not in the standard sense, but more along the lines of finding the good in everyone...and then holding onto it until the bad is quite literally in her face.

BACKGROUND

may 5th, 2000, the hwang family was blessed with the birth of yeonji and yeojin. truth be told, the expecting couple had originally been hoping for a baby girl only to get a surprise in finding out that it wasn't just a baby girl, but also a baby boy. thankfully, it wasn't bad news and welcomed the addition of yeojin with no problem.

the twins were practically inseparable, but it was easy to see that yeojin was the smaller twin, especially as the began to grow up. yeonji has always seemed to be a bit smarter for a young girl and promised her parents that she'd protect and help her brother grow big and strong. it was then that yeonji figured that was her calling, to be a big and strong older sibling.

most of yeonji's early schooling was filled with studying and keeping active. their parents were quick to notice yeonji's neverending energy and knew that she needed an outlet of sorts. and that's where yeonji's atheletism began to show. she shone in almost anything she put her mind to, but she shone the most under the instruction of lacrosse. it was the foundation to her love for sports and it was only the start.

for the longest time, yeonji thought that was going to be her career. she usually would dream of being a lacrosse athelete and her parents were proud of her finding something so quickly. it was quite the surprise when she decided she had enough. she found a new love.

and, to really think about it, it's was not really a surprise.

when yeonji followed the sports path, her twin followed something more subdue like dancing. he's always been a fan of kpop, seeing all the different idols performing and having fun. yeojin like that, he wanted to try that. so while yeonji did her sports, yeojin danced and for a few years, yeonji loved seeing how happy her brother was and, admittedly, she wanted that. something that would make her look like how happy he was.

so it didn't take long for her parents to sign her up for classes as well.

RELATIONSHIPS

►   hwang yeojin   -- twin brother, 2000

yeojin is her twin brother, younger by five minutes. they partically share most of their face, but that's where the similarities end. while yeonji could be the human personification of fire, yeojin is soft and gentle like a simple breeze. a bit more feminine than her and shorter, yeonji has always felt like an older sibling to her twin. they've always been close, not just because they are twins. despite their differences, they mesh well together. most of the time you could find yeonji listening to yeojin talk and talk about many things or yeojin watching his sister with a fond look on his face as she climbing a tree to get yeojin's paper that flew into it, despite the fact that she was in her uniform.

yeonji is very protective of her twin, knows that he's fairly sensitive and can cry easily and nothing ever gets under yeonji's skin than seeing her brother cry. she was glad he ended up getting scouted in the same way as her and hopes for the best for him.

► violence -- she may be loud and competitive, but when things turn to violence, she definitely takes a stand.

► bullies -- goes hand in hand with violence, but yeonji loathes bullying of any kind. she witnessed her brother being bullied once and its never left her mind. she sees no point in bullying and thinks its really unnessary. like why bully? why be an upset of society?

HOBBIES

► keeping active -- whether it's playing sports or exercising, yeonji is always keeping active. it helps her shed most of her extra energy.

► dancing -- besides working out, dancing is another thing she loves to do. she actually prefers to dance with others.

HABITS

► waking up early -- she's always been an early riser, that's for sure. if yeonji sleeps in, you know something is wrong.

► separating spicy things -- she grew into the habit of separating spicy food items because her twin can not handle spice of any kind and would separate them for him. its grew into such a habit that she separates it on her own plate as well (though she will still eat it).

► smiling -- some people think yeonji is incapable of not-smiling. she's always seen smiling that it's a rare sight to see her frown or pout.

► fidgeting/twitching -- when yeonji hasn't had time to burn off extra energy, she can seem a bit twitchy as she tries to keep her energy under control.

► looking people in the eye -- yeonji likes eyecontact. whenever she's talking to someone, she will make eyecontact and keep it until the conversation ends.

FEARS

► losing her family/twin, friends -- one would think yeonji fears nothing, but that's not true. she fears one thing and that one thing is anything happening to her family and friends, most importantly her twin.

TALENTS

► eating -- yeonji will eat anything. even if it's a member's horrible cooking, she will eat it with a normal face and even compliment it.

► locking -- she's really good at dancing, which to say is pretty self-explanatory, but her main talent in dancing is locking. not many girl idols do this style, but it's honestly one of her favorites.

► positivity -- no, wait, listen. yeonji has endless positivity that it just has to be a talent.

► sports -- yeonji is a god when it comes to sports. soccer, tennis, you name it. the sport she is most knowledgable in is lacrosse.

► weirdly enough, yeonji is not technology-inclined. most social media and game apps are beyond her expertise and yes, that even includes the camera app. all her pictures always tend to come out blurry or upside down.

► she has a huge collection of sneakers of various styles and colors. she likes the idea of being comfortable as she's being active.

► she shares matching phone cases with her brother. she bought them after yeojin pointed them out at a store and said they were cute.

► despite loving food so much, yeonji cannot cook. like seriously, things burn under her supervision or she puts too much of stuff together. she's not a good kitchen helper either, so she should be allowed in the kitchen ever.

TRAINING BACKGROUD

the summer period of 2014 was a fresh start for yeonji as she started dance lessons at 1million along side her brother. he was someone who had already started lessons, two years prior. it was a lot to take it, the many other dancers and different personalities, but it just ignited her competitive spirit and she let it take the reigns.

she trained at 1million for approximately three-ish years and her dancing ability grew. many instructors were surprised to see her improve so easily and fast. thanks to her sporty build, it wasn't that hard to switch her body into dancing instead.

it was different, training at a dance academy and not an actual company, but it was less serious than one would be. things were slightly more lax, not much restrictions on diets and such, but yeonji was starting to see how dancing made her brother happy. it made her happy too.

it was reaching the end of 2017 when scouters were spotting around the academy. yeonji was quite interested in why, but others just noted that they scoped for talent here sometimes. color her surprise when one approached her after one of the classes, asking if she has ever had any vocal training. she was honest, answering no, but either way, the man slipped her a company card, an audition possibility being offered to her.

at first, yeonji wasn't going to think much of it. she was perfectly fine dancing, but it was at the persistance of yeojin that she try. "could you imagine, sis? you, an idol...and i could totally be like, that's my sister! you would be an amazing idol, ya know...not just your dancing. you're amazing sis and everyone should witness it."

yeonji didn't need much more convincing after that.

the audition came quick and the acceptance letter came quicker. to be honest, yeonji was more surprised that they accepted her. thankfully, she could hold a note even without formal training, but it didn't matter if dancing was going to be her main talent.

training under prism entertainment was much, much more different than the classes at 1million. more strict, more singular. she suddenly had a lot more put on her plate, especially since she was put directly under vocal lessons to bring her up to speed with the other trainees.

but she prevailed, she honed her talents and got better. she was a force to be reckon with.

 

PRE-DEBUT EXPERIENCE

► lacrosse -- yeonji played lacrosse when she was younger. nothing really official since most lacrosse leagues start in high school, but she was noted to be an excellent player.

► 1million -- along with her twin, the both of them started out dancing at the popular dance academy 1million.

MEDIA PRESENCE

despite not being in any mainstream media, yeonji has gathered some kind of presence due to her time at 1million. she sprung up on multiple learner's class videos, alongside her brother. she stood out mostly for her growing talent in dance and her natural charm that pulled people's eyes to her.

► career aspirations? yeonji is a simple person. she wants to see rendezvous succeed and have fun while doing so. that's all the really matters to her. sure solos or collabs are interesting, but she would never abandon her girls and she'd be happy cheering on for them from the sidelines.
