TALENT TWINS txt's soobin

PERSONALITY

positive: sweet, patient, understanding, smart, genuine

neutral: perfectionist, sensitive, protective, clingy

negative: anxious, emotional, overthinker, private, timid

OVERVIEW (tw: mental health struggles, homophobia, bullying)

— born and raised in daejeon, haejin knew at a young age that his future career didn't lie in the education industry like his parents (high school mathematics and english teachers) nor in the sports industry like his sister haerin, but rather in the entertainment industry.

— haejin first developed an interest in music when he was 10, on a trip to seoul to visit his relatives and coming across buskers in hongdae with his cousins. and while he begged his parents to go to a performing arts high school, his parents couldn't pay for the tuitions with just their teacher salaries. thankfully, haerin had received a volleyball scholarship into a physical therapy degree in a university in seoul. but even that wasn't enough to cover the costs. so haejin attended daejeon gwanjeo high school.

— towards his graduation, haejin was scouted by a representative from a newly starting company who thought that his height and visuals at the time were idol material, and gave him his business card. his parents knew how much haejin wanted to be an idol, so they allowed him to audition but with one condition, he graduates from high school first. that way, he won't have to worry about his school responsibilities, won't have to drop out or stress over the ged exam on top of his training, which haejin agreed. auditioning after his graduation, haejin was accepted and his parents gladly sent him to seoul. haerin was close to graduating as well, so their parents weren't worried about haejin being alone.

— after 2 years of training, haejin and six other male trainees who he had practiced with and partnered up with for monthly evaluations were called into the ceo's office, to be told that they were to debut as a group named "n-igma". haejin was elated. not only was his dream coming true, it was with people he knew. and so, n-igma debuted with "yolo" in 2018.

— four months into promotions and the members of n-igma had already become a family, with haejin (the leader) and hwi (the eldest member and haejin's crush) taking on the positions of the parents. knowing that he wouldn't judge him, haejin decided to tell hwi his biggest secret one night when they were alone in the dorms, that he was gay. hwi accepted him with open arms, coming out to him as biual and admitting that he liked haejin. and within the next few days, they were dating, without the other members knowing as per haejin's request. everything was going great.

— until one day, it wasn't. one of his group members pulled him aside after practice one day, and told him that he overheard him coming out to hwi. this member, moonhyuk, already didn't like haejin anyway because haejin defended a trainee against moonhyuk when moonhyuk tried to make homophobic comments about that trainee's family life.

— and thus, started the implicit bullying. the members never knew about what moonhyuk did to haejin and moonhyuk threatened haejin to keep quiet about it or else he would out him and make sure he gets blacklisted from the entertainment industry forever, since, in moonhyuk's words, no company would want… a gay man, but with an f, in their roster. moonhyuk essentially ran haejin's mental stability to the ground until he left n-igma, his found family, and hwi, his boyfriend who he was still in love with, behind.

— moonhyuk stopped harassing him after haejin's departure was announced, and haejin essentially became a hermit, deleting all private social media accounts he had created, changing his phone number, cutting off contact with everyone and moving into haerin's house in seoul. haerin eventually made him spill the beans, and tried to lawyer up but haejin stopped her, saying that he couldn't let the public know about moonhyuk, or else not only he would go down, but he would drag n-igma down with him as well. he couldn't let that happen, he left in order to not let them down even though the members don't think so.

— after a year, haejin got scouted once again, on his way back from therapy with his sister this time. haerin gladly took the businessman's card, telling him that haejin would consider auditioning. haejin refused immensely at first, but decided to give his dream one last shot with the encouragement of his sister and his best friend, oh my girl's arin, whom he had opened up to after starting therapy. it didn't take long for his trainee contract to be switched for an exclusive one again, and he debuted in vesper as the leader and lead vocalist.

— his character arc will follow his struggles with his mental health in the aftermath of leaving n-igma and his former company, being able to open up to the members of vesper about his past, making up with the remaining members of n-igma and most importantly, dealing with history repeating itself, as he finds himself developing feelings for a member in his group.

PERSONALITY

positive: hardworking, genuine, patient, reliable, cheerful

neutral: soft, aloof, sarcastic, witty

negative: closed off, resentful, blunt, childish, stubborn

OVERVIEW

— similar to a lot of idols, min garam knew that he wanted to be an idol at a young age. he auditioned to a newly opened company, named mmo entertainment, in 2016 and was accepted. the company covered his schooling in hanlim arts high school as well, so not only was garam able to train, he was able to finish his education as well.

— during his time in mmo, the survival show craze was going on, with produce 101 releasing two seasons and a new show being in the works. after wanna one's debut, mnet immediately set the show, titled "next level" in motion.

— with fellow mmo trainees kang daniel and yoon jisung being a part of wanna one, mmo sent out garam to "next level" to represent them. garam won first place in the show and went onto debut with newgen, the project group, for the following year, set to disband in may 2019.

— may 2019 arrived, newgen disbanded and garam went back to mmo. with most of the produce 101 contestants from mmo (daniel, jisung, jaehan and taewoong) having left and only jinwoo remaining, mmo didn't waste any time hastily putting together a group of five boys, including garam, and debuting them under the name of "encore".

— encore's debut with "let's get loud" did somehow spark a reaction from the audience, but mainly because of garam. and mmo, taking note of that, tried to push garam more and more into the spotlight, thus causing rifts between him and the other members.

— during preparations for a comeback which hadn't been announced yet, the "min garam and the backup dancers"-ification of encore really made the other members upset, as garam was planned to have more lines, more screentime and more center time than any of the other members. feeling uncomfortable both for himself and the other members, garam went to talk to the ceo but the ceo didn't pay him any mind, implying that he was free to leave if he doesn't like the conditions he's given.

— and thus, garam decided to leave, and made sure to have his exclusive contract with mmo terminated. the other members, despite being salty that garam "left them behind", followed suit with the terminations of their own contracts and encore officially disbanded not even a year into their activities as a group. each member went their own way, and fate took garam to prism ent, where he debuted as a member of vesper in 2021. when he stepped foot into the recording studio to record his parts of their debut song, however, the last person he expected to see as the producer was baram, a former member of his group.

— his character arc will follow him trying to mend his broken friendship with the rest of the encore members, starting with baram and continuing onto the other members through him as baram still keeps in touch with them, and his budding relationship with his once enemy now best friend, hwang yeojin.

PLOTLINE the genuine

POSITION main dance, vocal

TALENT TWINS itzy's ryujin (vocal), tri.be's hyunbin (dance)

PERSONALITY

positive: cheerful, observant, optimistic, open-minded

neutral: clever, fun-loving, witty, perfectionist

negative: private, fearful, cautious, traditional

OVERVIEW

— garam's younger sister.

— if garam is the grumpy cat, gaeul is the keyboard cat because of her usually cheerful and happy disposition.

— having been a part of prism ent for a while, she's seen people come and go, and finally found her place in rendezvous, a group of 7 girls.

— she's the one that holds them together whenever the tides become too high for them to hold onto, tries to solve every misunderstanding and basically tries her best to hold the group together.

— but, underneath the keyboard cat-esque, cheerful and happy personality, she also her her own issues. nobody seems to realize that being the person to lean on can leave someone very exhausted and in need of someone to rely on.

— there's also the slow but damning realization that she might actually be a lesbian and her feelings for fellow member, hwang yeonji, but we don't mention that here.
