jo kyungjoo is a force to be reckoned with. she's one of the most shameless people you'll ever meet, having no problem prancing around the stage, trying to woo every fan in the audience, or blasting into an aegyo explosion to get her way. that being said, she does have a way of influencing others, to the point that she could get away with walking out of a market without paying for anything the whole night. mostly she does that to entertain, as she loves to make people laugh... and be the center of attention. often she lets her "power" and others' praises go to her head. if people aren't there to keep her ego in check, kyungjoo could very easily be convinced that she should be president tomorrow, despite her glaring lack of training or knowledge on politics. of course once she gets in office, she'll be doubting herself every minute and beating herself up the whole time about how this was a mistake and she's the worst in the world. that being said, there are times when she can be very arrogant about her own skill level, when something comes easily to her she just assumes that she's the best in the world at it, only to get humbled very quickly afterwards. her moods tend to change with the wind, as she's stil a kid just trying to figure all that out, but most of the time she tends to stay in an okay mood. kyungjoo loves to mess around and have fun, but she's perceptive enough to know when someone doesn't really need that from her at that moment. kyungjoo is also great at reading body language, she could tell you all the dirt on how two people feel about each other just by a quick glance.

BACKGROUND

jo kyungjoo had a chaotic childhood to say the least. her mother and father had died in a car accident shortly after she was born, leaving her in the care of her grandmother. her grandmother was a holistic healer and yoga teacher on jeju island, and while she was a good caretaker she had a lot of outdated ideas about raising children. she believed they should be seen and not heard, which if you know kyungjoo, you would know was an impossible task. she never wanted to sit still, she couldn't make it through 5 minutes of meditation, the only time she was truly manageable was when she was active and moving. for the first 8 years of her life she struggled with this, not knowing why she had to be perfectly still or quiet all the time and why people would get so mad when she wasn't. after all, she was trying her very best. at age 8 her name was officially changed from jo hayoon to jo kyungjoo after her grandmother was advised by a fortune teller that the name hayoon was unlucky, and may have been causing her misbehavior. for 2 or 3 more years she struggled to fit in, always being labeled as naughty or unmannered, but she wasn't trying to be bad. *when she was 11 her doctor suspected she may have some type of neurodivergence, and kyungjoo would start undergoing testing over the next few years. at age 12 she discovered kpop, namely snsd, and would stay up all night trying to learn their dances. this helped to manage some of the restlessness and anxiety she experienced, mainly because she had something to put her energy into that she and others enjoyed. at age 15 kyungjoo was finally diagnosed with adhd. she was almost relieved because it finally explained why she could never function "properly" in school and that it wasn't just her being a bad kid. the doctor tried prescribing medication to her, but her grandmother refused, so she was put into movement therapy. her aunt would start bringing her up to seoul to participate in summer dance camps as part of her dance and movement therapy program. from that moment on, kyungjoo had no other goal than to become an idol, as it was the only thing she could see herself doing right.

- *currently not on any adhd medication as her legal guardian didn't allow her to take non-holistic medications, and due to the stigma of mental illness/neurodivergence in south korea. instead, they did dance/movement therapy as a treatment as recommended by her doctor, which really she had been doing on her own since age 12 with her secret nightly dance practices. she tries taking prescribed stimulants when she turns 18, but finds the energy crash she gets at nighttime a little hard to deal with. usually she only takes them when they don't have a schedule as it makes it hard for her to wake up in the morning as well. because she went so long without them she's gotten better at picking up social cues just by masking so much in public.
- her grandmother tried to perform an exorcism on her when she was 10 because she thought she could possibly be possessed by a trickster spirit. 
- her favorite colors are yellow and pink.
- kyungjoo's favorite kpop groups are snsd, kara, seventeen, and gfriend. ( later follows all the produce groups after s2, wanna one bias was jisung, izone bias was nako, x1 bias was hyeongjun, kep1er bias is hikaru )
- her favorite fruits are jeju mandarins, mangos, and green grapes.
- her current favorite food is the carbonara buldak ramen. mostly because it's in a pink package.
- tends to stim by doing the hand movements of a choreography. also does this when trying to focus. it gives her enough of a vehicle to get her energy out without disturbing the people around her which was a tool she learned in her dance and movement therapy programs.
- afraid of cats after one scratched her when she was a young child. she does think they're really cute though and would love to get over her phobia
- slight adrenaline junkie, she wants to ride the biggest rides and bungee jump if rendezvous is ever on a reality show.
- has a secret instagram where she justs posts pictures of her food with a bite taken out of it. it's mainly for her grandmother and aunt's sake ( mostly her aunt's because her grandmother doesn't use technology ) so she can show them that she's still eating. though most of the time if she's on a comeback diet she'll only take the one bite out of the food if it's not diet food.
- danced and sang to only snsd songs, danced to catch me if you can and sang girls' generation for her auditions.
- you can always tell when kyungjoo hears the fans during a performance because she smiles with her real smile and she'll take a peek around at everybody when she has a moment where she's standing still during the choreography.
- kyungjoo was raised very religiously, and while she has let go parts of that, she still prays everyday for her grandmother's health. once she begins training with the rendezvous girls she starts praying for their happiness and health as well. before every comeback is released she prays that it'll be a smash hit.
- * a bit of a texture person, very picky about the texture of her clothes as something as small as an itchy tag can distract her. cuts all the tags out of her clothing. she got rocks in her shoes very often as a kid, so she always checks her shoes for rocks before putting them on, even if they're her indoor dance practice shoes.
- starts going to school for music therapy around rendezvous' 5th year. she wants to eventually help children with neurodivergent disorders to better cope with the world around them, as well as help those with alzheimer's with regaining or retaining their memories. her grandmother has the alzheimer's gene, but so far has not been diagnosed with it. kyungjoo likes to think that she could help her grandmother in a preventative way before this ever happens.
- graduates just before rendezvous' 10 year anniversary. plans to work as a music therapist/idol/snsd fancafe admin after rendezvous' inactivity/disbandment period.

  
MIN JOOHYUN : groupmate

though joohyun was a little ( read a lot ) quieter than kyungjoo was during their first encounter, for whatever reason kyungjoo decided she liked joohyun and began to follow her around prism like a puppy. she likes to think that joohyun enjoyed her energy, her jokes about them debuting as "joo squared", and just general silly aura. once joohyun discovered kyungjoo was also a sone, they bonded over their shared love for the group and kyungjoo began to see joohyun come out of her shell, little by little. kyungjoo liked that no matter how wrong she got the steps, or how often her voice broke during a recording session, she would always try to smile ( no matter how pained it looked when kyungjoo would strain to get to a higher note) and give her a small thumbs up. she felt accepted, like no matter what she did wrong, it wouldn't affect how she was seen as a person. she knew with joohyun at least, she would always be there to help her when she could, and she'd never get yelled at unless she purposely wasn't trying hard. it gave her a sense of comfort and eased a bit of the loneliness and doubt she found herself constantly living in now that she was away from everything she knew. kyungjoo tries to do the same in return in areas that she's better in, like winning her a plushie from the crane machine, tracking down mozzarella if she knows the food is too spicy for joohyun's tastes, and hiding hot packs in her bed because she knows joohyun will sneak into it for the warmth anyway. 

  
RENDEZVOUS : groupmates

kyungjoo thinks of the rendezvous girls as sisters that she always wanted, but never had. some of them she even thinks of as mom figures. for the most part she gets along with them all the time, but every now and again they get in a tiff or two over her attitude. ( kyungjoo gets very irritable when she's tired or hungry, which is almost all the time when you're a trainee. ) she cares about them very much, and thus doesn't want to be a burden to her team even though she's one of the least experienced trainees. she can also get away with the most when it comes to the managers, so she does the noble job of making midnight snack runs for the girls since she almost never gets in trouble. she's honestly really fascinated with the other girls, she never thought it wase possible to have so much drive to do something and she sees the fire in the other girls' eyes burns bright. she also admires how much time and energy they've putten into honing her skills, and she tries to model herself in the same way.

STAGE NAME: rainie (레이니), kyungjoo originally wanted her stage name to be rainbow, which prism denied, then she wanted sunny, which they also denied, then she wanted smiley, which prism thought was too long of a name. finally, eunbi suggested rainie, it had bits and pieces of all the names she had suggested, and while not exactly what she had in mind, kyungjoo thought it was cute enough and accepted it.

TRAINEE LIFE: kyungjoo began her invasion into the idol world in the summer of 2017. she was staying with her aunt in seoul for the summer, supposedly supposed to be doing a summer dance camp but instead went around company to company, borderline harassing their front desk people to get her into the trainee program. kyungjoo had less pure intentions than other in regards to why she wanted to be an idol. she was a teenager and had her a classmate mention how there were a lot of cute boys training at jyp. well, she enjoyed dancing and singing and it was about the only thing she did right, why shouldn't she become an idol?, is what she wishes her reasoning was. really all she wanted at that time was to meet cute boys and wear pretty outfits and be admired by the public. she had kind of a hard time adjusting at prism because of this, number one because there were no boys, number two because she didn't take it super seriously, and number three because she hadn't yet realized while at home she was a big fish, she was definitely the underdog at prism. the first month's evaluation was a real wake up call for her. she very narrowly passed it, with a warning from the staff that if she didn't show improvement by next month's evaluation she'd be removed from the training program. then she started to take things more seriously and realize how underdeveloped her skills were, choosing to focus on her lacking vocals as her trainer had told her she had potential. from that point on things got easier, but she began to question if this is actually what she wanted to get herself into.

HEADLINES: a few around the time they first debuted about how she was rude to her older members, really she just likes to tease people in general and sometimes takes it a little too far.

CAREER ASPIRATIONS: in reality, kyungjoo never really thought about what would happen once she debuted. for a long time she never thought she'd get past the training, so she was just happy to have debuted. she sees how much the other girls want to be successful, so for their sakes she pushes herself as hard as she can. she also wishes they'll be successful because the more people wish for it, the better of a chance it has at coming true. back when she was training in her room, she assumed she'd be good enough to make it as a solo artist, though now she knows she'd be a one hit wonder. may dabble into that world if it includes a fun concept, ( think choi yena's solo career ), but mostly she just wants to stay with her girls.
