in vivian hu's mind, she's the equivalent of an asian paris hilton. she's always the center of attention, of course she'll tell you it just happens, not that she purposefully does things to attract it. that being said this girl knows how to read and control  a room. she's good at sensing the energy of whatever space she's in, so just as the energy shows the slightest sign of dying, she's already re-igniting the flame. vivian tends to exaggerate everything that's ever happened to her in her life, so take what she says with a grain of salt, but enjoy the story she tells, because it's sure to be captivating. this includes her impressions of people, someone can be the nicest person you've ever met, but if you've personally scorned her then you're one of the worst people she's ever met, even if you were buddy-buddy before hand. she's very outward about her thoughts and feelings, which can be good or bad. she's totally the type to be caught slumped in her chair at an awards show if she thinks it's boring, but get out of her seat to dance if she's really feeling the song. she's also the type to stay away from when she's in a foul mood. if you dare poke the bear be prepared to be roasted within an inch of your life. any sense of pain, irritation, or being tired tends to amplify her bad moods, and it's usually during her time of the month that she has the most chance of scandal. if looks could kill that one guy who tried to take a picture up her skirt that week would be dead.
 

she's the definition of a social butterfly, in fact she might rival red velvet's yeri for most diverse friend group. that being said she holds external opinions in a high regard and is very concerned about her image. that doesn't always mean she'll change a bad behavior, but she'll certainly take care to hide it better and silence those who attempt to expose it.

no matter the situation, she'll engage with anyone or anything that seems interesting to her, even though she might not always stick with it. her long list of past after school activites proves it. that being said, when she puts her mind and really becomes engaged with something she eats, sleeps, and breathes it. however if something bores her she's onto the next thing sooner rather than later. repetitive and reoccuring tasks are one of her worst nightmares, vivian feels as though her brain needs the constant stimulation for her to survive. (ipad kids, am i right?) this leads her to having impulse control issues, though it's harmless behaviors like running full sprint away from the staff and aggressive nose boops about half of the time. on the days that her impulse control is at it's worst she's prone to screaming matches where she unleashes whatever terrible thought first comes to her mind when arguing.

BACKGROUND

in vivian's family she was definitely the outcast. everyone else was a super genius and she was perfectly average at pretty much everything. being the just average middle kid led her to be forgotten on more than one occassion, thus sealed her fate on being an "attention seeking nuisance" in the eyes of her family. she sang, danced, climbed tall things, anything that was loud or distracting enough to get her parents' attention. by the time she was in second grade she was in so many after school activities that she didn't have any energy left to seek attention elsewhere. every week day she had school from 8-2:30, junior show choir from 2:30-4, dance classes from 5-7:30, and mandarin lessons from 8:30-9:30. her weekends were mostly spent sleeping and occasionally practicing if her show choir or dance school had an event coming up. though she had friends in her different activities, vivian didn't make her first true friends until fourth grade. vivian's mother got in a huge scandal, which she and her siblings wouldn't learn until their adult years was her mother having an affair with the manager of the real estate company she worked for, and thus the hu's ended up sunday and wednesday regulars at their local church services. while attending she met cindy hong and hina watanabe, who for a time would be her found family.

after meeting cindy and hina, vivian's life improved immensely. their parents enrolled them in the same dance classes that she was taking and vivian's parents allowed her to drop out of show choir to spend more time with her friends, which unbeknowst to her at the time was more of an indication of their financial situation than anything. just before entering middle school the girls would join their church's youth group and their friend group would almost quadruple in size. their group, affectionately nicknamed asians' 11, would be introduced to kpop by one of the older girls, samantha lee, and the rest was history. all eleven friends became a well oiled dancing machine, using their youth group room after school throughout the week to practice and matthew's mom's old camcorder to record their covers and upload them to youtube. vivian really found herself during this time, and realized how much she truly enjoyed performing, surprisingly not for attention's sake but for the ease and joy she felt at being able to express herself fully while performing. for the first time in her life she could picture what she wanted the rest of her life to look like, so she continued to put her focus into honing her skills.

a few years later after a performance at an asian-american festival, cindy, hina and vivian were invited to apply virtually to pledis entertainment by a former employee attending the festival. fortunately for vivian, she passed the audition and became a trainee, but unfortunately the same couldn't be said for cindy and hina. though she considered giving up the opportunity to stay with her found family, vivian knew she'd regret it for the rest of her life if she didn't at least try to go after her dream.

TRAINEE YEARS

though she was supposed to start training two weeks before christmas, she had some problems with her visa and didn't end up in korea until the first of the year. during those few weeks of limbo time she threw herself into her korean studies and could understand more by the time she ended up in the pledis building, so it actually ended up a happy accident in the long run. while she certainly wasn't the most polished trainee in the room, she had a good grasp on the basics of singing and dancing from her years of past experience. she enjoyed the fast pace of training and being around so many like-minded people. though dance was always her focus, vivian did put her whole heart into vocal and rap training, especially rap. it was new and exciting to her and there were aspects of it she never would have thought about such as varying your tone so you don't sound too static. by the time of their debut she had dabbled in pretty much everything and became a jack of all trades, but master of none.
 

throughout her training vivian made friends quite easily and got pretty close with everyone. she genuinely was sad when not all sixteen of them debuted together, even though she tried to prepare herself as it was unlikely with that big of a group. she came off a bit arrogant to some, especially during evaluations, because she never had the anxiety of getting booted out that some of the other members did. she was always confident in her skills and gave it her all, which in her mind meant there was no timeline in which they sent her packing.

HEADLINES

PREDEBUT
　♮ 16TV ︰ vivian had the time of her life while on 16tv. she loved that even before debuting people had an idea of who they were and that she got a chance to showcase all her skills. she showcased mostly her dancing, but did  take the opportunity to showboat everything from her vocals to her personality to her poor excuse for a catwalk. vivian was definitely one of the moodmakers of the show which was one of the more fun parts for her. overall even though it was hard and at times very repetitive and boring, it was a great experience in her eyes and she wouldn't trade it for anything.︰ 2016-2018.

FIRST MEETING prior to their first meeting someone told minghao that vivian spoke mandarin, which in all fairness she should be able to with the 7+ years of lessons she took, so when he approached her he started talking to her in mandarin. it had been at least 5 years since she tried to speak it so she blurted out the first word she remembered which was bless you. ( her mandarin teacher had terrible allergies ).

INTERACTIONS though they got along fairly well throughout their time together they definitely pushed each other's buttons. minghao would have days that he only spoke in mandarin to force her to learn it and it drove her nuts. now she's thankful for it and still calls him every now and again to practice, but they still consider themselves acquaintances more than friends.

aiden is a dynamic guy with an aura of leaderlike responsibility. he has the unrelenting optimism and do-good spirit of a child standing up against a bully combined with a wiser air of diplomacy. he's very outgoing and loves to experience new things and expand his world view. though he isn't always the brightest bulb in the chandelier when it comes to academic matters, his emotional intelligence is almost over developed for his age. aiden is a great mediator and is able to put himself into other people's shoes fairly easily. in another life he'd more than likely be a motivational speaker or school guidance counselor, and in all reality he still has time should he choose to pursue that, but for now he's enjoying the path he's on and the experiences he's had.


HISTORY aiden and vivian first met through their church's youth group, but had known of each other since they went to the same school. vivian did think he was cute, but she'd rather be caught dead than admit it at that time. when their dance group was formed she grew to like him more for his skills and similar sense of humor to hers. they spent a lot of time together alone, later they would find out was because their other friends created that scenario, as they were always the ones who would learn the dances and teach it to their friends, getting to know more and more about each other each time. when vivian got accepted into pledis she kind of gave up on him in a romantic sense, knowing it'd be hard to keep contact that far away but not wanting to ask him into follow her to korea as they weren't involved in a romantic way. they kept contact as friends, at least in her point of view, but it was shortly after this that aiden began to realize his feelings were more than platonic. on her first trip back home for the holidays vivian hinted that she had a crush on him back when she lived in la, but admitted it'd be too hard on her to have a long distance relationship like that. he worked more on his dancing in an effort to make it as a backup dancer and be closer to vivian. aiden started going to workshops and classes while working part time jobs until eventually in late 2019 he was contracted as a backup dancer for hybe. after pledis became a part of the hybe label family they were able to spend time together more easily and their romantic feelings became less of a teenage crush and more of a deep love of each other as people.

TRIVIA

　♮ aiden somehow got a hold of one of the sixteen members' phone numbers through another backing dancer so he could arrange to surprise vivian once he landed in south korea. he ended up disguising himself as a delivery man, pulling down his mask as she opened the door. she screamed as soon as she realized it was him and quite literally almost tackled him to the floor. it's one of the only times the sixteen members have seen her cry, but thankfully in this case it was happy tears.
