“What?”
[Tell me now. You promised.]
“I did?”
[Yeah. Go spill it. You have my full attention.]
It’s Minzy. The moment I stepped my foot out of the car, my phone rings and it’s her.
“Fine. Fine.” I said.
[Shoot.]
I lay on my bed and stare at the ceiling.
“My real parents, died on a car accident.”
[Yeah, you told me that. That’s why you don’t drive.]
“Yeah, I have these nightmares about me driving a car and then you know what happened next.”
[You had trauma unnie. You were in the car too and you saw everything. I think those nightmares are just normal? Don’t get me wrong.]
“I know. I know.”
[So what about the Kwons? How did they found you?]
“They’re family friends. My dad and my father-in-law are best buddies during college. So when they found out about what happened, they took my custody since nobody in my relatives wanted to adopt me.”
[You’re better off with the Kwons unnie. Don’t feel sad about it.]
“I know. I’m lucky they adopted me. I can’t imagine myself when they didn’t come that day at the hospital. I wonder what will happen to me.”
[They’re really good people. I can attest to that. They’ve raised you well. I can tell.]
“That’s a compliment huh.” I said and chuckled.
[Yeah.] She chuckled.
“They brought me to their house and introduced me to Jiyong-oppa.”
[So this is how the love story begins. Go, what happened next?]
“There’s no love story Minkky.” I rolled my eyes. Love story? Aigoo.

“They told us to treat each other like real siblings. I tried my best to be close to him but he would avoid me. He ignores me all the time.”
[Really? He’s rude huh.]
“I think he doesn’t like the idea of me being his sister. I think he hates me.”
[Maybe he wants his parents all for himself?]
“I think so.”
[But what’s with the marriage?]
“Yeah, that. It was on my 18th birthday when they told me that they want us to get married, and that everything is set. They just need my approval.”
[So Jiyong-ssi already agreed to it? Because you said they just need your approval.]
“Yeah, they told me he agreed.”
[And then you said yes?]
“Yeah.” I answered nodding even if she can’t see me.
[So what happened?]
“So we got married. But, he packed his things and moved out of the house the next day, the day after the wedding.”
[Seriously? Why?]
“He doesn’t want me. What else could be the reason?”
[But he agreed to the marriage. He said ‘I do’.]
“Maybe he was just forced to do it.”
[That day, on your wedding, how was he?]
“He’s his usual self. Aloof. Snob.”
[Aish. Seriously?]
“Yes. He was just staring at me wearing his impassive face when I was walking down that aisle.”
[And when the Father declared ‘You may now kiss the bride’?]
“He kissed me.”
[Aish. Seriously? He said ‘I do’. He kissed you. And then next thing you knew, he moved out and never came back. What’s with him?]
“He comes home, but, once in a blue moon.”
[So there was no honeymoon.]
“Yeah.” I exclaimed.
[Were you disappointed?] She asked. I can imagine her grinning.
“Ofcourse not.” I exclaimed.
[Eyyy. Okay.] she laughed.
“Yeah, so now you know.”
[But, come to think of it. He pays for your school expenses. He provides your allowance and everything you need, clothes, gadgets and you even have your car with your own personal driver.]
“Yeah.”
[So he does what a husband does to his wife. He provides everything you need except for… his love.]
“Exactly.”
[Did he ever ask for separation? You know, divorce.]
“We don’t always talk ever since. But, he never asked me that.”
[That’s why you’re going to ask him then?]
“Yeah.”
[Do you love him?] She asked. Do I love him? [Why did you agree to the marriage unnie?] She continued. Yeah, why did I agree on the very first place?
“He doesn’t love me. So if he wants divorce then…”
[You know what, you should talk to him. Ask him what’s the real score between the two of you. He’s so confusing.]
“You think I should?”
[Yeah.] She exclaimed.
“What if his answer will hurt me?”
[Why would you be hurt?] She asked. I sighed.
“I’ll ask him.”
