Chapter 3:

Jinyoung appeared slightly taken aback at how abruptly and bluntly Mark had asked that question. What exactly did he expect me to say? Jinyoung silently thought as he was scratching his head thinking of how on Earth he was supposed to answer that question.

Mark couldn’t help but feel anxious at Jinyoung’s silence. He was trying to figure out what was going on in his head for him to take such a long dramatic pause,

“Well that’s a pretty broad question don’t you think?” Jinyoung attempted to joke. Mark was getting impatient with Jinyoung trying to beat around the bush.

“How do you know my family?” Mark asked trying to be more specific.

“How about I make you a cup coffee, this might take a while.” Jinyoung insisted as he was locking up the café.

The two boys spent the next hour discussing each other’s lives. Jinyoung was telling him about how he came to know Mark’s grandparents as he had been shunned by his own family and felt very alone. Mrs Tuan had been some sort of guardian to him from the very moment he came to Seoul and treated him like a son more so than his real family did. He would also help Mrs Tuan in looking after Mr Tuan every now and then and talk to him so that he didn’t feel so isolated.

“Mrs Tuan saw me crying as I was bringing in the few boxes I had when I moved to Seoul. I still remember that kind aura she had about her as she asked me what was wrong.” Jinyoung smiled as he remembered,

“When I told her my situation she told me that she would be my family and that ‘I was welcome to stay with her anytime son’” Jinyoung
