"Mikey, what's wrong? Did you hurt yourself?" I said checking over his body looking for blood or burns but came to nothing. I rubbed his red cheeks and held him as he kept wailing before he finally stopped sobbing his little heart out. 

"Mo- Mom and Da- Dad are gone. I- I can't find them!" He gasped through his shrieking. I quickly got him some chocolate ice cream, knowing that it was the only way to quite him. I stood up and breath a sigh before I started searching the house for our missing parents. 

"Mom! Dad! Where are you?" I yelled around the house while I was mumbling about my terrible parents under my breath. This isn't the first time they have gone for a couple days. They would just pack up and leave for a couple of days, leaving me to care for Mike. Then again I would be the only one who cared for him most of the time. I was more of a parent then they ever were.

I finally made it up the flight of stairs to reach my parents bedroom. I looked around the desolate room. There was absolutely nothing left in the room. No furniture, no clothes, only dust floating around in the sun flowing through the window. I instantly knew that my parents weren't coming back home this time. I ran down the stairs and grabbed my phone. I typed in my mother's number and waited for the ringing, it never came. 

"I'm sorry, the number you are trying to reach is not in order, please try another number," was all I heard. I then tried my fathers number and I ended up getting the same thing. Where could they have gone? I dialed my fathers work and waited for an answer.

"Hello, yes is my father there?" I spoke knowing that he wasn't but wanted to try. 

"I'm sorry, dear but your father is not here. He just packed up and quit yesterday. I'm not sure where he went, though.." The woman on the other side of the phone said. I can't believe that this was actually happening to us... 

"Thank you, it's fine. I'll try somewhere else." I said hanging up quickly. I started to run around the house trying frantically to see if they left anything behind. They didn't, they literally took everything but us and our stuff. The plates and bowls and most of the silverware were gone. The table was gone, the living room was empty, the laundry machines were nonexistent. They left the fridge and freezer of course because they would have made to much noise trying to lug those out of the house. I made it back to the counter and saw a note left there waiting for us. 

'Dear Children, 

We have gone as you can tell. I'm sorry but we just can't afford to keep you guys anymore. We have already sold the house so I would recommend that you guys find somewhere to live until we come back. We love you and we are sorry

Mom and Dad'

I fell to the ground, feeling weary and my knees falling out from underneath me. How could parents do this to their children?

I started to hyperventilate with this new found stress bearing down on my shoulders already. I felt a pair of small arms wrap around me trying to comfort me as I did him. I grabbed and held him wishing I knew what to do, but coming to no avail. I'm lost and I don't know how to find our way back.
