Onyx POV
“What do you mean by that question, Onyx?” Mrs. Kwon asked Onyx after the table fell silent once Hyoyeon answered. ‘This cannot be happening,’ Onyx thought before going back to her CEO Façade. “A name I used to call Hyoyeon, after a funny incident.” Onyx explained. “Oh, so you three do remember each other. That is fantastic!” Mrs. Kwon happily cheered. After some more talk about the past, in which Onyx only added input if asked; all five were finished with dinner. “Okay, now that we are full, why don’t we talk business?” Mr. Kwon asked Onyx. “Of course, but shouldn’t we talk in a more private setting?” Agreeing with Onyx’s suggestion; both Mr. Kwon and Onyx excused themselves from the dining room and left to his office. Barely closing the dining room door, Onyx heard Yuri ask her mom if this was really happening.
Mr. Kwon’s Office
“You know, I always thought I would be having this conversation with you father.” Mr. Kwon told Onyx as they both sat down in their respective seats. “I always thought I would be fighting this decision, not trying to work it out.” Onyx added with a small smile. “That I could definitely see, you always had your parents fighting spirit.” “Thank you. So, why don’t we just skip the small talk and get straight to business?” “Of course. So your father had planned that I help with the Korean side of the business, and he would take care of the American and European side. Now I have heard that you have been at the company for the past week, I am sure you gave them hell.” “Yes, I did. Someone had to make sure that they knew their place, and who is boss.” “Good, I have heard that they have gotten quite lazy after your father passed away.” Nodding Onyx continued, “Yes, now I plan to stay here for a few months to tidy up and bring everything to my standards but once I leave we can continue with the original agreement.” “Would you like for me to shadow you while you are here, so that I can continue just like you?” “That would be an excellent idea. After I leave, you will be in charge of 50% of the Korean company, as well as the 60% of stocks. You will still have to report to me annually, and I would like to have quarterly reports. Also, any act that you wish to add or remove has to go through me. Now I had a contract written out, just needs your signature.” Taking the contract, Mr. Kwon looked over it. “This looks good. Just two questions, what about my company?” “Your company will be merged into MS Entertainment, and your artist will be signed under MS Ent., That means they will now be part of our ‘family’. As far as contracts, all of your artists have to renew their contracts so that it fits MS Ent policies, as well as understanding the standards that they will now be held accountable to. Does this work for you?” “Yes, I think most of the artist will be okay with this. Adding to this question, the building my company currently uses now, what will change?” “Aside from the logo and some decorations, nothing has to change. Unless you want to relocate or expand the current MS Ent to fit your employees and artist. It is up to you.” “I think for now we will keep the current building. Later on we can discuss relocating or expansion. So now that I have the answer to that question; what about the marriage proposal?” Looking down at her hands Onyx nods and then looks at Mr. Kwon. “About that marriage proposal…”
An Hour after Mr. Kwon and Onyx Left
Laughing about a joke, both Mr. Kwon and Onyx made their way to the living room where the others were at. Mrs. Kwon was the first one to stand up at the arrival of her husband and Onyx, “So how did the meeting go?” “Excellent. Now it is time for Onyx to talk to the both of us.” Mr. Kwon walked up Mrs. Kwon and sat down next to her. “Do we have to stay here?” Yuri asked, hoping she did not have to stay in the same room with her CEO. “You knew her parents, so yes. Show some respect.” Mrs. Kwon sternly told Yuri. Onyx could not really go against her host, but she had really hoped Yuri and Hyoyeon had left. Well mostly just Yuri, too many foul memories coming back. Giving a chance for the girls to sit down, Mr. Kwon asked Onyx to begin. “Thank you, but there really isn’t much to add from what the newspapers told.” “Nonsense, I knew your father since we were both in diapers. That man would never fall asleep behind the wheel. Especially if he was driving to go see you and your mother.” Taking a moment, Onyx thought that she might as well tell them now; that was the second reason why she needed to talk to them. “Okay than, here it is. The night that my father died, he did not pass away from a car accident, he was murdered. A greedy board of director hired an assassin to get my father out of the way, thinking that he would inherit the company. But my father had left everything to me because he wanted the company to stay within the family.” “How is your mother doing?” Mrs. Kwon interjected. “At the time she was heartbroken. But it has been five years and she smiles more often now. That is what she needs, happiness.” Onyx really hated talking about her father’s death, but she knew that they needed the truth. “Then why did the papers say that he passed away in a car accident, and why did your mother lie about it to?” Mr. Kwon asked. A small sigh left Onyx before she answered, “My good friend was the head officer in charge at the time and when she told me how my father passed, I asked her to lie to my mother and tell her that is was a car accident. A few days later when I took over as CEO, I had people look into it and find out who had ordered the hitman. At that point my only job was to ruin him like he ruined my family.” “How?” Yuri interrupted this time. “Don’t worry I didn’t kill him, I personally could never kill a person. I just did the one thing that would hurt him as much as he hurt my family. It may not bring my father back but in the director’s life, money was everything, so naturally that is what I took from him. I discovered that he was committing fraud and all I had to do was tell the right people. Now he is in jail for 75 years for fraud. He will rot in a 5’X7’ room till the day he turns 135. It also helped that I have a close friend in a high position within the system. As to why we lied about the whole issues, well my mother doesn’t know that he was murdered. I could not bring myself to tell her so like everyone else; she thinks that he passed away in a car accident. The only people who know the truth are you four, a hand full of government officials, Aaron and me. So if you could keep it to yourselves that would be excellent.” The room remained quiet for a few minutes before Yuri was the first to speak up, “I am sorry to hear that about your father, but why lie?” “Aside from my mother and I the company was my father’s pride and joy, I will never let anything or anyone ruin what he has work so hard to create. If the media knew that he was killed by one of his own members, the company would close their doors within months. No stockholder is going to want to help a company that has employees that are willing to kill just to advance in position.” “Wait, isn’t MS Company the wealthiest company in the world?” Yuri added. “Now it is. At the time of my father’s death the company needed stockholders to stay open.” Understanding, Yuri just nodded. “Why didn’t your mother come? I would have loved to see her.” Mrs. Kwon inquired. “She will be coming next week, I wanted to have a chance to speak to you before she came.” “Now that you have told us the truth, and I promise you this conversation will stay within these walls, why don’t we change the topic? I don’t want you to talk about things you are uncomfortable talking about.” Mrs. Kwon piped in, knowing that they shouldn’t make Onyx talk about something so painful. Checking her watch, Onyx decided it was time for her to go. “Thank you, but I am going to have to excuse myself. I have to leave early tomorrow morning to go to Japan.” Standing up Onyx started to get her things. “That’s fine, thank you for coming to talk to us. As for the agreement, do you want me to start going in tomorrow or when you come back?” Mr. Kwon asked as he stood up to walk Onyx to the door. “You can start tomorrow. Aaron will be there so feel free to shadow him.” “But if you are going to Japan why isn’t Aaron going, isn’t he your right hand man?” Yuri asked as both Hyoyeon and her followed after her parents. “I am going to go visit a friend as well as bring her back with me.” Onyx had a small smile when she answered, good thing that she was walking in front of them. Simply nodding, they made it to the door. With simple farewells from Mr. and Mrs. Kwon, the girls remained at the door with Onyx. “I know I shouldn’t be asking this of you considering our past, which I am truly sorry about, but you won’t kick me out of MS Entertainment?” Yuri nervously asked Onyx as Onyx opened the door. Thinking about it Onyx knew she could have some fun with this but she couldn’t joke around, “No, you earned your spot within the company. But as far as we are concerned, the audition was the first time we met. Deal?” Accepting Onyx offer, Yuri quickly said yes. “What about me?” Hyoyeon spoke up for the first time since dinner. “What would you like me to do?” Onyx asked Hyoyeon, excited that Hyoyeon seemed to want to talk to her. “Well you could start by explaining why you left me?” With a guilty look, Onyx agreed. “But not here where we have an audience.” Handing Hyoyeon her card, “My personal cell is on the back, just let me know when you are free for a dinner or something.” Accepting the card Hyoyeon give a wide smile and hug Onyx. After releasing what she was doing, she backed off and blushed. Yuri rolled her eyes, and Onyx just smiled, “So see you later.” Waving good bye to Hyoyeon and giving a simple nod to Yuri, Onyx got into her car and drove back to the hotel.
