“Hun Hun, hurry. I need to see my Lulu!” Sehun chuckled and glanced at her for a split second. They were walking through the hospital parking lot, on their way to pick up Luhan. She was skipping, while holding onto his left hand. To Sehun, she seemed to be happy and excited to see Luhan again. After all, the last she did see him, he was being ushered into an ambulance.

“Since when did he become Lulu and yours?” he asked, a hint of playfulness in his voice.

She giggled and swung her arms out to each side. “Since I met him!” Once they reached the lobby, the receptionists greeted him. It was a younger lady who had bright orange dyed hair, different from the blonde who was working for the past five days since Luhan was admitted into the hospital.

“Hello. Who are you two here for?”

“We’re here to pick up Luhan.” She repeated the name as she searched her computer data for his name.

“He should still be in his room. The doctors just wanted to have a chat with him before he left. You know where it is right?” Sehun nodded and Min Jung, who was bouncing up and down impatiently immediately led him to the elevator. An older woman walked in after them, and gave a small sheepish smile before turning to the buttons.

“Where are you two headed?”

“The fifth floor. We could go to yours first if it’s closer,” said Sehun immediately softening up his expression. She looked familiar.

“ Hey Ajumma, were you the one Hun Hun saved?” asked Min Jung. Her innocent curiosity brought the question out while she looked up cutely with her huge eyes.

“Ah! No wonder you seemed familiar,” said Sehun. She immediately recognized him after that and her attention went straight to his palm.

“How is your hand? Oh my...I didn’t even get the chance to thank you.” she bowed formally and Sehun rushed to lift her head back up. “Are you here for your hand?”

“No, I’m here to pick up someone who was in the hospital,” he said. She nodded and the door opened on the third floor.

“This is where I get off. Thank you so much. I’m very thankful for your help young man.” She smiled tenderly before waving goodbye. Min Jung looked up at her father and beamed a smile up at him. The doors closed again and the elevator began going up.

“She was a nice ajumma. I like her.” Sehun hummed in agreement. He was just wishing the elevator would go faster. As the number rose up, they finally reached the fifth floor. It stopped then a ding before the doors opened. Min Jung’s rush of excitement bubbled up again and this time she was twirling around Sehun as they walked. A nurse passing by chuckled at her while other patients just stared at her like she was rare. A rare ball of happiness. They reached the brown door and before knocking, Min Jung stopped Sehun. “Hun Hun, double check room number please.” Her hands were spread out widely, blocking Sehun from continuing forward.

“Room 1212 on the fifth floor, beige door.”

She turned around and upon seeing those gold letters embroidered on the wood, she nodded in agreement. She let Sehun do the honor of knocking on the door. Before he even knocked the second time, the door flew open and a short doctor who seemed to be extremely tired looked back at him. “Sorry. I was already leaving.” They stepped aside for him to leave and when he was gone, they walked into the room, seeing Luhan standing there looking somewhat surprised.

“You guys actually came?”

“Of course. I promised.”

“And when Hun Hun makes a promise…”

“He doesn’t go back on it.” They finished as if they were some pokemon super hero. The slogan made Luhan burst out in cheerful laughter. Though Min Jung didn’t really know what was so funny, she laughed alongside him before skipping to his side and holding onto his hand. Luhan wasn’t as awkward with her clinging onto him anymore. He had gotten used to it ever since the first time and all the hospital visits.

“Ready to go? You okay to walk?”

Luhan playfully rolled his eyes. “Nothing happened to my legs Sehun. Though they do feel like jelly…”

“Ou! Jelly?” He nodded at Min Jung who was walking calmly beside him. Sehun walked behind them, wondering if Min Jung would completely forget about him because of her sudden infatuation with Luhan. He continued to be ignored by the two who were in a deep conversation about huskies and pets. Even during the whole elevator ride, not a single one of the two bothered to speak with Sehun. That is until Luhan noticed the lingering soul behind them with a sad aura. “Ah, Sehun, sorry. It seems I stole Min Jung-ah from you…” he chuckled softly, tussling his hair from behind. Sehun inhaled sharply, thanking whatever divine force that was out there for Luhan not noticing it.

“I am a bit sad. Min Jung, you don’t like appa anymore?” She shook her head no before huffing as if she was tired of his questions.

“I love Appa a lot but I also like Lulu too.” With that, she continued on, getting off the opened doors of the elevator. She dragged Luhan behind him, singing another one of her random off key songs. The same receptionist greeted them and when she saw Sehun again, something about the look she was giving made Sehun feel good. The envy in her eyes were completely visible and he couldn’t help but bath in that glory. Even though it was pretty mean. They had exited the hospital and made it to the parking lot, enjoying the shadowy echoes that mimicked their voices. “Hun Hun, hurry up! Don’t keep Lulu waiting!” She was waving her hand, all the while skipping. “Lulu, tell Hun Hun to hurry up!”

“Sehun…come on…”

Instead of doing what was requested of him, he did the opposite. His feet stopped moving and the little smile plastered on his lips were no longer there. He felt another throb in his heart. He only allowed one bit of denial to come between this moment.

Me? Liking another man? I’m the only one not in the same rainbows as my freaking friends who ride unicorns and speak alien dialect right? I can’t be gay! That’s crazy...I must be crazy. This isn’t right. But...he’s so cute...wait...what.

“Hurry Sehun. Min Jung is waiting,” he repeated, a blush creeping onto his cheeks. He was oblivious to what he felt as well, brushing it off as embarrassment. Min Jung had gone quiet, her joyous skipping movements halted. Her eyes trailed back and forth between the two males and she giggled to herself, knowing that her father was definitely happy. His ears were beginning to turn a bright red, contrasting his pale complexion. Being the one to witness a scene like this more than twice during the past week was strangely satisfying for her. She had to inform Baekhyun, her consultant, about this because he always knew what these types of actions and feelings were.

“S-sorry! I’m coming!” He mentally face palmed, cringing at his stuttered words. Luhan quickly turned forward again, this time unsure of how he felt. He couldn’t really put a name to this new feeling but it felt nothing short of happy. Just knowing that Sehun was walking even closer behind him made him a feel a slight bubbly feeling and a bit self conscious. He was a famous and successful fashion designer after all. What if the clothes his butler had dropped off was not to the youngers liking. Troubling thoughts like these causes Luhan to lose focus of his surroundings. He noticed too late, walking straight into the side of Sehun’s car and mashing his stomach on the rearview mirror.

“What’re you doing Lulu?” asked Min Jung, laughing at Luhan’s clumsiness. Sehun had walked to his side and put his hands on his shoulders, concern written all over his face. At the sudden body contact, Luhan ripped away, putting two hands up as if signalling for someone to stop.

“I’m fine, I’m fine. Nothing to worry about.” Sehun opened his mouth in doubt but chose not to say anything. He nodded and opened the door for Min Jung, seat-belting her. He smiled, wondering why she had such a sly smirk on her face. She winked and he couldn’t help but return a smile to her. She was incredibly cute and being the doting father he was, he couldn’t get mad, disappointed or suspicious at anything she did. At least he hoped she wasn’t thinking anything. Dabbing her nose playfully, he placed a kiss on her forehead and ruffled her hair. He stood up and closed the door behind him, seeing Luhan still standing outside and not in the car.

“Why didn’t you get in yet?”

“W-well…”

“It’s fine. We talked about this last time. Sit in the passenger. Or did you want me to belt you in just like a princess too?” he meant for it to be a joke but when he suddenly caught on to his embarrassing offer, he was about to deny any motives.

“I’m not girly.” With what seemed to be irritation, Luhan smiled once before it dropped back to a frown and he got in the passenger, closing it slightly loud. Just a bit too hard for it to be normal or him to be considered ‘okay’. Sehun wasn’t sure why what he said made him irritated but he noted never to do it again. Maybe since he was an actual man and he was most likely straight and not into guys.

He’s straight Sehun, he’s freaking straight. You’re straight too. Don’t forget that. Please calm down, heart and just do your job.

He walked to the other side, getting in and buckling himself. The cut in his palm was healing and he had grown accustomed to the slight pain whenever he held onto the steering wheel. It felt more irritated and itchy than it did pain anyways. Once the car began leaving the lot, his phone rang and one hand searched his pocket to pick it up. “Luhan can you get it?” Nodding, he took the phone that was half peeking out of Sehun’s dress pants and answered the call. It was from Kyungsoo.

“Hello, this is Sehun’s secretary speaking.”

“Oh, you surprised me! Luhan? Tell Sehun that I can't go pick up his ID for him so he better come get it himself. Junmyeon really upped the security systems and rules now. You have one too Luhan so don't forget to grab it. Bye-bye!" The phoned clicked off and Luhan put the phone in the cup holder next to them.

"Kyungsoo says he can't pick up your ID for you." Sehun nodded seeming indifferent. They stopped at a traffic light and it was quiet. Min Jung had used up a lot of energy bouncing and singing everywhere and Luhan was still medication induced.

"Want to go somewhere?"

Luhan seemed afraid to say but he ended up doing so. "Would it be alright...if you just take me home? I'm really tired..."

Sehun was a little disappointed, which he later on denied before nodding. "No problem. Where are you residing?"

"Just a couple blocks from here in a large brown house." As Sehun took directions from Luhan, time seemed be going so quickly. The designer wanted to interact with him more but Luhan seemed to keep to himself. Even though he had been in a serious relationship before, it was too long ago to remember how those fluttery and anxious feelings were like and he felt now, those feelings were even stronger. “Just continue up this block…” Sehun had expected to end up in this part of town, a wealthy neighborhood. Though he himself lives in one, it was farther away. His eyes took in the picture of the large house with its beautiful porch and pitch black roof. A small window opened right on the roof, a place that looked nice to walk out into.

“Where does your father work anyways? I see him sometimes at the company but other than that, he’s a complete mystery to me.”

“Uh well...this is sorta like his vacation as well...so I’m sure he’s enjoying the wonderful sceneries of South Korea.” They awkwardly chuckled and continued sitting there in silence as the car stayed parked.

“See you tomorrow at work then?”

“Yes. Thank you very much Sehun and Min-” he stopped speaking when he noticed that she was no longer awake. Her tiny head was tilted to the side, her cheek resting on her shoulder and strands of hair had made their way over her face. “She’s sleeping. Bye-bye Min Jung.” He smiled one last time at Sehun in gratitude before slowly getting out of the car. He walked up to the door and once it opened, he turned to wave.Sehun waved back before driving off. He didn’t want to leave.

Su Hyun watched as Kyungsoo and Jongin walked into the elevator, chatting excitedly about something. Confusion spread across her face when she saw that Kyungsoo was no longer angry at Jongin anymore. After the party she threw for Chanyeol, it swarmed the whole editing department about their friend conflict that day that for some odd reason included Luhan. She felt suspicious of the weird vibe between the two but dismissed it because she didn’t care much about him. She waited until the doors closed before walking by, a black binder in her hands. She continued walking until she reached the office on that floor. Since Sehun had left already along with Luhan being hospitalized, she was able to roam freely. Her hands reached out to turn the knob and when the receptionist, a man with dark eyes and brown dyed hair looked at her, she practically saw hearts. “I’m here to pick up my ID card.”

He nodded, almost in a trance like state. “Name is?”

“Choi Su Hyun and would it be alright if I pick up Sehun and Luhan’s badges?”

He lifted his head up from the box he was digging through. “I’m sorry I can’t do that. It has been requested especially by the president that for security measures, we cannot allow anybody, not even family or great friends to pick up each others badges.” He brought up a badge, only to dismiss it for being the wrong one.

“Do you know why the president is tightening up security like this? I mean security has never really been an issue,” she said, worry smitten across her face.

“I’m not really sure myself. But rumor has been going around that lately the higher figures in this company has been receiving blackmails and death threats from an anonymous group. Also with a couple of new employees from that China company, the president is probably worrying about spies.” She nodded, mouthing an ‘o’ in understanding. He lifted another one up and it pictured the same pearly white smile. “Here you go...Choi Su Hyun-ssi.”

She took it with a smile. Clipping it onto her chest, she leaned against the counter and went in just a bit closer to the receptionists face causing him to inhale sharply. “Say...could you tell me something?” He nodded and she continued, “You have access to files from all employees right? Could you look up Luhan for me? We’re secretaries together and he didn’t know where to get his portfolio….” He nodded.

“When did you need it by?”

“Is it possible to get it now while I’m still here? I don’t have to go back up to the office for a while…” He nodded enthusiastically again, sitting down in his seat and searching through the database. She stood there, eying him up and down to remember every inch of him. The badge that was clipped lazily and crooked on his chest pocket had his name covered up from a wrinkle in his shirt. To her disappointment, his name would still be unknown.

“How much did he want me to print? I mean it’s doesn’t look like there’s a lot in the database about him because he’s new but I do have his basic information down.”

“I think he’d like all that there is. Luhan would be thankful.” The printer beside the computer began humming as if coming alive from a deep slumber. The receptionist twirled in his chair and waited as it finished printing exactly five pages. He handed it to Su Hyun and she thanked him, putting the document in her black binder.

“So hey, are you free sometime?”

She smiled. “I’m sorry but I have someone in mind already. I’ll take you up in that offer when I change my mind about him though.” With that, she walked out leaving him staring at her back in disbelief.

“Oh hecks no girl. You don’t play Kim Jongdae like that…”

Luhan sat down at the table, the back of his shirt lifted up to the shoulders with Xiumin and the butler standing behind, applying cream to the scars and bruises that had faded greatly during his hospital stay. “How does it feel? Okay?”

“Yup. The cream feels cool.” He slightly winced when someone’s hand pressed a little too hard but the two didn’t seem to notice and continued on with their business. His doe eyes trailed onto the pot on the stove, still cooking and emitting delightful smells. Xiumin had immediately stopped all his dinner preparations the moment Luhan had stepped inside the kitchen followed by Mr. Thao with a worried look. Their interrogation didn’t even begun yet before Luhan had collapsed into the chair and spilled everything to the both. They listened in horror, finding out what was done to him to make him end up in the hospital. “Luhan...why was he mad at you? It’s not like you did anything wrong by walking out…”

“It’s because I couldn’t find more things out…”

They had finished applying the cream and took turns washing their hands thoroughly before going back to their original chores. The doorbell rang as cue for their butler to go back and open the door for whoever it may be. Luhan had a bad feeling that it may be someone he doesn’t want to see. “Did you want to eat something before going up to your room? I can make you anything, really.” He only nodded his head before laying it back down on the table, cradling it in his folded arms. Xiumin had gone back to stirring the beef curry he had been making and when he decided to check on his kimchi he had been fermenting, a pair of footsteps made its way back into the kitchen.

“Luhan-ssi...your father calls you up to his room…” Fear had overtaken his eyes and he felt his limbs go numb. His heart started beating faster and just the thought of more pain worried him. If he kept getting hurt, it would hinder Sehun and his his new friends he had made because they would continue being worried about him. Though in a way, just knowing that there were actual real live people who worried about him made it just a bit okay. He stood up, pulling his shirt down, not minding the icky gooey feeling he had on his back. He walked quickly out of the kitchen and up the stairs of the large home. Maids and other workers stopped to bow whenever he walked past and he didn’t notice but when he reached the door of his father’s room, he finally noticed Mr. Thao walking behind him. Luhan flinched back a bit, surprised.

“I nearly had a heart attack!” he whispered loudly.

Replying with a slight chuckle, he said, “I can’t have that happening to you. But if anything gets too bad, call out to me and I will come in to help you. I may look old, but I can still break bones.” Luhan nodded and twisted the doorknob, entering with light feathery steps.

“Father?” It was silent as the desk chair swiveled around. Luhan had to bite back the urge to crack a smile from it’s cliched villainous action.

“I heard. Sehun-ssi promised to take you home.” His cold and dark voice made Luhan want to turn back and take Mr. Thao up on his offer of breaking bones. But like the usual, he was still afraid and submissive to his owner. Just like a dog.

“Yes father.”

“My question to you, did you do what you were supposed to?”

“Yes father.”

Their eyes locked into each other, Luhan completely paralyzed by the cold gaze that pierced into his innocent soul. “Well? Shed some light on your discoveries…”

There was a slight hesitation before Luhan brought up the courage to peep words out. “Sehun is childhood friends with the president, the other famous designer Do Kyungsoo. Not only them but important figures like Kim Jongin, Park Chanyeol, Huang Zi Tao, and Byun Baekhyun.”

The man nodded satisfyingly, his left index finger scratching his chin in thought. “Anything else significant?” Across Luhan’s mind flashed Min Jung. Her beautiful and radiating smile that made him happy. His heart fluttered when she held onto his hand, as if entrusting her tiny being to him making him feel as if he should protect her. The gaze Sehun gave him when he had ushered him to hurry at the request of Min Jung. He couldn’t ruin Sehun’s life because by exploiting him, he would hurt those close to him. He would hurt Min Jung. The president who so kindly welcomed him to the company. Baekhyun and Kyungsoo who worried about him and became his friends. Chanyeol and Jongin who watched out for not only the other two but him as well. Luhan’s heart was telling him that he couldn’t. Finding out how Min Jung came into Sehun’s care and how the father and daughter duo were both dumped, abandoned by their only loved one was something Luhan swore he would protect. He would protect them. He just couldn’t spill anything about Min Jung. Because he knew that if he did, it would be enough to accomplish what his owner wanted to do. At that moment, Luhan made it his new mission. To preserve the smile and innocence of Min Jung and the happiness that enshrouded the group of friends and the happy expression Sehun always seemed to have. His first original mission given to him; find out everything about Oh Sehun and bring him down along with the company.

Protect Sehun, Min Jung and all my friends…watch over my stars until I break.

“Well?”

“No, but I am getting closer to them as well...I believe it will be even easier to find out things about him.”

“Good good.” Luhan bowed, ready to leave but before he could open the door to go, his father stopped him. “If you’re lying or holding anything back, you know what’s going to happen to you right? You won’t simply be sold to someone else, I’ll end you because you already know too much and that’ll be the end of your dreams to find your mother, right?” He could practically see the smirk on the man’s face. The ugly twisted front tooth that he always tried to hide when in the company of great figures.

“Understood.”
