Chapter 23

“Just consider it as a game only, Fany.” Jaejoong suggested, as he saw her gloomy face.

“But I made you lose.”

Her furrowed brow told him she could give him a few answers but he was sure they would have more to do with reality than fantasy. Squeezing her hand on the table, he bent his head to get closer to her, “It doesn’t matter if you answered it wrongly. Of course, you don’t know what I always do when I wake up in the morning. We haven’t slept together, have we?”

Though her cheeks flushed, Tiffany didn’t avoid his gaze.

“Why are you looking at me as if I’m from another planet?”

She laughed a bit, “I’m just wondering what you always do the first thing in the morning if you don’t go to take a shower & brush your teeth. I don’t know if you have some rituals to do in the morning. I didn’t see you do anything special during these eight days.”

“Do you want to know my answer on the paper?”

She nodded firmly.

“Have dinner with me tomorrow night & I’ll give you the answer.”

His answer surprised her. Their agreement would end tonight & as they agreed, tomorrow they would be different person & moved on with their own lives. Jaejoong had promised to leave her alone. She couldn’t decide whether she wanted to see him again.

“Jaejoong Oppa.”

The way she said his name rippled through him in a manner as touching as her touch. The more he knew about her, the deeper love flamed higher, unsettling him.

“Yes?”

She studied him for a long moment & he wished he could read her mind.

“Alright.” She said softly, giving into him again, “I’ll come over for dinner after work. Just tell me the place & time.”

He grinned happily, “Why do you have to work? Get yourself plenty of rest & open the flower shop on the next day.”

She shook her head, “My shop has been closed for too long.”

“I’ll come pick you up then. Just be ready okay?” He offered, his smile making her stomach flip, “& one more thing.” He paused, staring at her deeply, “We haven’t lost the game, sweetheart. We have the same position as those two couples. So the judges will reveal the winner after this break. We could be a winner, who knows.” She punched his chest playfully. She replied, “Don’t dream too much, Mr. Kim. As you said, it is only a game.” “Yes, it’s only a game but reality has just started.” He grinned mischievously.

Tiffany studied his grinning face, “What do you mean?”

“What?” He asked. His eyes sparked for a moment, “I’m happy.”

“Why?”

He groaned, “Do you always ask so many questions? Look, the judges have come back to their seats. We will know the winner soon & close this meeting.”

“You’re changing the subject!” She scolded.

He laughed & touched her hand.

“I want to keep it as a surprises. Could I?”

For some reason, his answer filled her with satisfaction & a bit of wonder, “Yes, you can.”

“Thank you.” His smile became wider. He reached out, her cheeks, “I can’t stop thinking about you, Tiffany & I’m feeling the greatest love happening to me.”

The touch of his fingers against her skin made her tremble. His lovely words made her breathe hardly but she managed to say with a smile, “You are intimidating me to have dinner with you.”

“You find me intimidating?” He asked, with a grin.

“You have a reputation for being powerful & skillful in negotiation & an expert at everything you do. You’re a lawyer.”

“Everything?” He repeated, with glimmers of tease in his gorgeous eyes, hypnotizing her.

“Everything.” She murmured, on a breathless whisper as his head bend down closer to hers.

“I don’t want to intimidate you, Fany.” He said in a husky voice, “I only want to have dinner with you &.” He paused, taking a look around before he continued, “I want to kiss you.”

Tiffany felt her cheeks burning up. She lowered her face, avoiding his gaze, “I should get us a drink before the closing ceremony starts. What would you like to drink?”

Jaejoong bit his lips, staring at her lovingly, “Okay. I’ll let you go this time. Please get me a sprite & come back quickly.”

Smiling prettily, she nodded her head. She broke away from his hug & went to the bar at the back of the grand ballroom.

Chapter 40: Tiffany is really a tease, playing Jaejoong along and won't say the three words he's longing to hear. And now it serves her right as she may lose him to death, or she may lose him anyway by becoming a nun in a last-ditch effort to bargain with God for his life. What a travesty! She could have given her answer positively much earlier and could have gone home and averted the meeting with the murderer. I think she's pregnant, but it's a surprise for her to start getting sick only after more than three months or so as a result of their night in Paris. Waiting for the sequel to read more about the foolish woman who is now distraught for dragging out giving Jae her answer... Actually, I won't mind a tragic ending but not at Jaejoong's expense, though I won't mind if Tiffany suffers for the rest of her life. She loses my sympathy by her dithering.

Chapter 30: I wonder how and when Jae's mother will confess that his father isn't Mr. Kim? Even then, the whole society will still recognize the two of them as first cousins and I believe in Korea first cousins aren't legally able to get married to each other? Or is it only social norms which forbid such unions? In our country, Burma, first cousins, if they descend from a brother and sister, can get married because of different fathers carrying different bloodlines, but it's a no-no for those descended from two brothers to ever get together. And even if a marriage takes place between first cousins coming from two brothers, society frowns on the union, and for scientific reasons too, their children will get double whammy of both good and bad genes. Their children, at least some of them, can turn into genuiuses or idiots, if they're unlucky. So, to break the problem of Jae and Tiffany, something must become undone. It's Mr. Kim's fault to keep silent about Tiffany's father being his twin, he could have at least hinted to her they can be very close relatives, so that Tiffany can guard herself against falling for Jae. So, it's the old man's job to find an acceptable solution. Waiting for an updates soon...
