Chapter 21

Tiffany was surprised & touched when she found a single pink rose on her pillow with a little note that says ‘I’m sorry’ in the next morning. Glancing at the rose for several times already, she put on some light makeup. Today, the competition began & she promised herself to do her best to win the title for Jaejoong.

“Morning, Tiffany.”

Smiling gorgeously with both hands in his pocket, Jaejoong leaned on the doorway.

“Morning?” She asked in a light tone, “It’s time to have lunch, Jaejoong Oppa.”

“Really? Why do I feel like I’m still dreaming. Oh, I might be a sleepwalker.” He gave his comical expression. They stared at each other before bursting in laughter.

They came back to talk easily again, in morning. It seems like what happened last night had been forgotten. Jaejoong was an incredible lover. She had never known a man as perfect as him. Yes, he was big-headed enough. She knew that. However, when she relaxed & allowed him to be in control, it made her feel safe & the way he smiled at her in a certain way made her insides turned to liquid jelly. He was fun, exciting, thoughtful, caring & he never lost his radiant jokes. Jaejoong had made her laugh almost all day. He had a very dry sense of humor. She admitted that she was in seventh heaven during these past few days. She had never experienced love before & Jaejoong could fill her life perfectly. Just when she tried to think about him, he always had surprised her. When they were walking the street for lunch, he stopped suddenly to buy her single rose from a street vendor or bought her a little cute gift & when they were alone & in each other’s arms, he made her forget the world & everything in it. Just only the two of them.

It was a Sunday afternoon, the last day of the competition. The sky was a clear blue & they had won tennis & trivia quiz as they expected. They only needed another one point to win as a couple of the year in the last game. This was a love game, a very important game & a compulsory for everyone to be a winner in this competition, “I don’t think I can do that, Oppa.”

“Come on, Fany. I know we can win this game. They will ask you some questions & the answers must be the same with my answer on the paper before. It’s easy, isn’t it? & I’ll do the same way as you.”

“What if they will ask me something about you that I don’t know.”

“Do you remembered all on the list of mine that I gave you last night?”

She nodded seriously.

Jaejoong chuckled, looking at her solemnity. He reached his arm out & tucked the hair behind her ear.

“Don’t be so serious okay? I'm just joking. It’s only a game.”

“But I want to win.” She muttered childishly. Tiffany responded to the arrogant challenge of his smug grin with a smile of her own, one of deep satisfaction!

He swallowed his laugh, “Okay. We are practicing now. What is my favorite flower?”

“Lily.”

“What is my favorite food?”

“Spicy food.”

“Good. My favorite singer or celebrity?”

“Kangta, Yoo Youngjin, Wheesung, Yumi, Yolanda Adams & HOT.”

“Gosh. You’re so good. I’m afraid I can’t remember your details. Ask me please.” He took in a breath.

“What is my favourite color?”

“I don’t think they will ask me an easy question. It’s usually something about you especially.” He began cautiously. His fingers ran through his hair.

“Such as?”

“Let me think. Is there any place that you liked it so much when you’re a little girl?”

Tiffany thought for a while, knitting her eyebrows & then she answered, “Planetarium.”

“Uh?” Jaejoong was taken aback by Tiffany’s word.

“Planetarium.”

“Why?”

“I like to see the stars. My mom didn’t allow me to see the stars outside the house at night. She said I would catch a flu. So that’s why I like to go to the planetarium to see the stars with all my heart.” She made it sound so perfectly logical that he would have taken her to that place right now.

“How do you do that?”

She raised her eyebrows prettily, “What do you mean?”

“Watching the stars.”

“With binoculars.” She paused, smiling brightly before she murmured to herself, “Silly Oppa.”

“You really like the stars, huh, Fany?”

She nodded, sipping at her orange juice.

A tender smile tugged at the corner of his mouth, “Me, too. I’ll take you to Europe someday where we could see the stars as bright as they are.”

“Really?”

“Really.”

“Is it a promise?”

He nodded firmly, raising his right hand to the sky, “Yes, it is.”

‘He really is a smooth talker.’ She thought. She could hardly believe what she was hearing. Traveling to Europe was her dream. However, she couldn’t afford it as she didn’t have that much money. She swallowed hard, “Are you serious?”

“Serious? Why don’t you believe me this time? I promise you.”

She shrugged, “I just thought you might want to cheer me up before the competition, that’s all.”

“But you do like the idea to travel with me, don’t you?” He took a step closer to her. His arms tightened around her waist as she hid her smile.

“No.” Pride reared fiercely to her defenses, “No, of course not.” She pouted, lowering her head.

“Sure?” He reached out a hand & tipped her chin up so that she was forced to look at him.

She fell silent & suddenly felt nervous.

“Let’s practice our kiss for the competition tonight.” He said in a husky voice. He breathed hoarsely.

Tiffany pressed a finger to his lips, “I’m not ready.” She said in a small voice, trying to keep her voice steady. Her head was spinning. If he kissed her then she would know for sure her heart would beat faster than ever & she didn’t want him to hear that.

“You are.” His arms slid around her waist, “That’s part of our agreement, remember? You’re my lover & we’re deeply in love with each other.”

“I know. I agree to play a part of it but…”

“No buts.” His voice softened as he glanced at her, “You see, Fany. I’ve fallen in love.” He told her huskily.

“So, are you going to tell me who the lucky woman is?” She asked, her voice almost a whisper.

“Silly swan. I thought it was obvious.” His eyes drifted over her & then lingered softly on her baby pink lips, “I’m in love with the most beautiful girl in the world.”

She lowered her head, not daring to think who she was, ‘Did he think I want to know that? Is it still Sunny? Oh, god.’ She thought. She took in a deep breath.

Her sharp intake of breath must have been audible from

Chapter 40: Tiffany is really a tease, playing Jaejoong along and won't say the three words he's longing to hear. And now it serves her right as she may lose him to death, or she may lose him anyway by becoming a nun in a last-ditch effort to bargain with God for his life. What a travesty! She could have given her answer positively much earlier and could have gone home and averted the meeting with the murderer. I think she's pregnant, but it's a surprise for her to start getting sick only after more than three months or so as a result of their night in Paris. Waiting for the sequel to read more about the foolish woman who is now distraught for dragging out giving Jae her answer... Actually, I won't mind a tragic ending but not at Jaejoong's expense, though I won't mind if Tiffany suffers for the rest of her life. She loses my sympathy by her dithering.

Chapter 30: I wonder how and when Jae's mother will confess that his father isn't Mr. Kim? Even then, the whole society will still recognize the two of them as first cousins and I believe in Korea first cousins aren't legally able to get married to each other? Or is it only social norms which forbid such unions? In our country, Burma, first cousins, if they descend from a brother and sister, can get married because of different fathers carrying different bloodlines, but it's a no-no for those descended from two brothers to ever get together. And even if a marriage takes place between first cousins coming from two brothers, society frowns on the union, and for scientific reasons too, their children will get double whammy of both good and bad genes. Their children, at least some of them, can turn into genuiuses or idiots, if they're unlucky. So, to break the problem of Jae and Tiffany, something must become undone. It's Mr. Kim's fault to keep silent about Tiffany's father being his twin, he could have at least hinted to her they can be very close relatives, so that Tiffany can guard herself against falling for Jae. So, it's the old man's job to find an acceptable solution. Waiting for an updates soon...
