Two.

Let's Camp!

A blindfolded obstacle course. A blindfolded obstacle course.

That’s what the activity was.

“Okay, just walk forward two steps. Then there’s a log, you need to step over it, it’s quite thick, so make sure to take a big step, okay?” Kyungsoo directed Kai, who seemed to flit through the instructions flawlessly.

“You’re doing great guys! Keep it up!” Suho called from across the clearing where he and Lay were half way through their own course.

“Okay, now you’re going to have to get on your hands and knees and crawl about a metre” Kyungsoo said, the smile evident in his voice as he watched Kai do as he said.

“You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?” Kai asked, glacing around at where he assumed Kyungsoo was standing.

“Well yes, but I was trying not to laugh at the fact Lay-ssi just fell over his own foot” Kyungsoo chuckled, “Although, now you mention it, you do look pretty funny like that. You can stand up now by the way”

Kai laughed a little as he got to his feet smoothly and waited for further instructions.

“Okay, you’ve got to walk about ten paces and then reach out and grab the flag, then we can switch” Kyungsoo chuckled, a huge grin on his face as he watched Kai stick his hands in front of him and try to find the flag. All in all, Kyungsoo was finding it all pretty hilarious, and it took Kai a good five minutes to finally grab a hold of the flag, rip of his blindfold and whoop like there was no tomorrow.

“Okay, your turn!” Kai beamed, putting the flag back and skipping over to Kyungsoo, who just watched the younger with an amused smile. “Here, close your eyes” Kai smiled, making his way behind Kyungsoo and wrapping the blindfold over his eyes and tying it at the back of his head.

If he didn’t know any better, Kyungsoo would have sworn he felt soft lips press against his cheek for just a second before Kai moved away and started to tell him what to do to get to the flag.

“Okay, go left... no, your other left! No, wait you’re going to..”

“AHHH!”

“...Fall...” Kai laughed, “I tried to warn you”

Kyungsoo grumbled from his place on the grass. His back was flat on the grass, whilst his legs were up and flung over the log he’d just tripped over. The sight enough had Kai doubled over laughing before he ran over to the elder, making sure he was okay.

Kai helped Kyungsoo back to his feet.

“You could have warned me faster” Kyungsoo grumbled, holding onto Kai’s shoulders as he steadied himself.

Kai laughed and set Kyungsoo back on course, “Sorry, I’ll be better this time, promise”

Kyungsoo would have rolled his eyes if they weren’t covered, “So you’re planning on having me fall again?” he shook his head.

“Oh hush, and go forward four steps” Kai laughed, grinning from ear to ear as he watched Kyungsoo take hesitant steps forward.

--

Sehun and Chen sat side by side on the grass watching the others finish their courses. It’d only taken them a short time – mainly because they cheated a little, but what you gon’ do? – so they’d decided to just sit and watch, which was proving to be quite amusing.

“I’m mad” Chen said after a while of watching Lay blush as he helped a blind Suho up off the floor.

Sehun turned to look at him with a raised brow, “why?” he asked, a little taken aback at the sudden outburst.

“Because, first my best friend ditches me, then Luhan steals my Xiuminnie, and then I have to watch them both having fun” Chen huffed, folding his arms over his chest and pouting like a five year old.

“Who’s your best friend?” Sehun asked, scanning the group to see who the sulking boy beside him would consider his best friend.

Chen smiled fondly as he looked over towards where his teacher was laughing with Lay, “Yixing” he said, pointing discreetly, though he knew Sehun already knew who he meant.

“Ah” Sehun smiled, “Is he always that red, or is he blushing right now?” he asked, chuckling slightly.

“Ahaa, he’s blushing, I think he’s just embarrassed that he has to work with Mr. Kim, I mean who’d wanna work with a teacher, right?” Chen laughed, knowing full well that wasn’t the reason Lay was blushing like a school girl around her crush.

Sehun smirked slightly, “Well, that or maybe it’s because Mr. Kim just gave him a side hug and he’s freaking hot” he said casually.

“Wait, so you’re gay?” Chen asked softly, earning himself a shrug from Sehun,

“Dunno, I mean, I just appreciate a good thing when I see one, and you have to admit, Mr. Kim is one fine hunk of man” Sehun grinned at Chen, making the elder laugh.

“Yeah...” He shook his head in amusement, “Yeah, I guess you’re right”

“Who’s right about what?” a voice came from behind them. Chen turned to see Luhan and Xiumin walking over to them, before Xiumin plonked down beside Chen, leaving Luhan to sit next to Sehun, albeit reluctantly.

“Sehun’s right that Mr. Kim is handsome” Chen answered easily, looking back over at Lay and Suho.

Luhan nodded, “It’s nice to see you have some taste” he said teasingly to Sehun, who just rolled his eyes.

“Well, we can’t all have the same tastes as you, can we Luhan?” Sehun responded.

Luhan turned to look at the younger, affronted, “And just what is that supposed to mean?”

“Please, I can only imagine the type of guys you find attractive” he scoffed.

Luhan glared slightly, “You didn’t even know I was gay until today, so you know what? you, Sehun”

“Sorry, you’re not my type” Sehun smirked.

Luhan stood up in a huff and walked over to their shared tent, stomping inside and flopping down angrily onto his sleeping bag.

He was seething quietly when he heard the tent rustle and Sehun walked in with that stupid smirk plastered on his face,

“Piss off” Luhan huffed, turning away from the younger.

Sehun though, only rolled his eyes and sat down beside Luhan, “Gees, it was only a joke, can you calm down”

“What part of piss off, do you not get?” Luhan snapped, “I’m not in the ing mood”

Sehun sighed, “Sorry” he muttered, honestly not wanting to deal with a stroppy Luhan.

“Why?”

“Because...” Sehun shrugged, “I guess I was being a little harsh on you”

“Yeah, no ” Luhan sighed, “But thanks, I guess”

Sehun laughed slightly, “So guess what a little birdy told me”

Luhan turned to face Sehun properly, looking over the younger as if to try and understand why he was trying to start a genuine conversation. Almost as though this wasn’t really Sehun, but rather an alien that had taken over his form.

“What?” he finally caved.

Sehun grinned, “We’re having a camp fire tonight with marshmallows” he said happily, wiggling his eyebrows

Luhan couldn’t help but laugh, “you’re such a geek, I swear”

“Better than being a dweeb like you” Sehun smirked, and although it was insulting, this time, it seemed to be all in good fun.

“Shut it, lispy”

“Make me, asshat”

“Puh-lease, if making you involves coming near you, I’d rather the floor” Luhan half-glared.

Sehun scoffed, “Yeah right, you always make any excuse you can to come near me! ‘Sehun, give me the sharpener’...’Sehun, you’re on my side of the table!’... ‘Sehun, look at me’... Sehun, Sehun, Sehun. That’s all I ever hear from you”

“Oh like you’re any better?!” Luhan retorted quickly, “I go past your desk and you have to say something to me, or call my name, or touch me. It’s like you’re obsessed with me” he huffed.

“Aha, please, you wish I was, I have better things to do than obsess over you, short arse” Sehun rolled his eyes, “You might as well just admit you want me”

“Me? Want you? off, you’re having a bobbin’ laugh” Luhan laughed, almost hysterically.

Sehun was about to reply, but was cut off by the sound of Suho’s voice from outside;

“Guys,” he called, “Can you all gather around for a minute!”

Sehun and Luhan made their way out of the tent and to where everyone was stood around the teacher.

“Okay” Suho smiled, “so I bet most of you know by now that we’re doing the whole campfire thing tonight, but we can’t really do that until it after we’ve had dinner and it starts to get dark, so until then you can have some free time, alright? I’d say you’ve got about two hours until dinner, but...” he paused, looking around at them, “In about an hour, I’ll need some help with the cooking and such, so can I have two volunteers, or I’ll have to pick” he grinned evilly.

However,  before he had the chance to choose, Chen stuck his hand in the air, “Me and Yixing’ll help you, just shout us over when you want us” he smiled.

“Alright, thank you Jongdae. Is that okay with you, Yixing?” Suho asked, looking at said boy, who simple nodded in return, a faint blush on his cheeks, “Well alright. Oh, just before you go and enjoy yourselves, I’ll just give you a quick tour, and show you where the water tap is and where the bathroom and showers are, follow me”

Suho lead them over to the other side of the clearing – to the left of the tents – and pointed out the water tap, before taking them through a few trees that led to a short path, leading to the toilets and showers, “And just remember” he spoke as they walked back to the clearing, “No going to the bathroom or showers without a buddy, am I clear?”

“Yes, sir!” the all chorused before splitting into smaller groups to relax for a while.

Xiumin, Luhan, Chanyeol, Sehun and Kris went over to kick around a football, whilst Kai, Baekhyun, Kyungsoo and Tao went to play cards next to Kai and Kyungsoo’s tent. Chen and Lay sat down on one of the logs that was set around the marked place for a fire and began to chat whist watching Suho set up a little cooker with a few saucepans and such.

--

Lay and Chen sat close together as the other went about their activities. Chen had his eyes on the boys playing football, internally laughing at how competitive Luhan and Sehun were being with one another, and cringing at Kris’s attempts at being goalie.

Lay on the other hand, was watching Suho potter about, setting up the little cooker and the little gas canisters .

“Could you be move obvious?” Chen said, snapping Lay out of his reverie.

Lay looked at him slightly dazed, “What?”

“Staring at Mr. Kim... Dude, if you keep it up, even he’ll figure out you’ve got the hots for him, and he’s oblivious to like, everything”  Chen laughed.

Lay frowned, “I don’t have the hots for him, shut up. And he’s not oblivious to everything, he noticed that I wasn’t feeling well on the way here!”

“Oh, sticking up for him now, too, are we? Oh baby, you’ve got it bad” he teased.

“Ew, don’t call me baby, it’s cringe-y...”  Lay wrinkled his nose, making Chen laugh.

Chen grinned, “Hakuna your tatas, man, it was a joke”

Lay only rolled his eyes, turning to look at Suho again, only to find said man looking back at him, a small amused smile on his lips. Lay could only pray he hadn’t heard what Chen said.

Suho smiled wider and sent Lay a little wave, which the younger returned, blushing slightly as he did, before Suho went about getting the pots and pans he needed to make dinner.

“You know it’s pointless, right?” Chen said after a while, looking at Lay with gentle eyes.

Lay reluctantly dragged his gaze away from Suho to look at Chen, “What is?”

“This whole crush on Mr. Kim thing” Chen sighed, “He’s a teacher, Xing. I don’t want to sound harsh,  but you need to get over it, mate...”

Lay let out a soft sigh, “It’s nothing, okay? No crush. Just respect because he’s my favourite teacher”

“Okay, so you’re in denial too. Brilliant” Chen rolled his eyes, looking away to see Luhan and Sehun arguing about something or other, both of them gripping tightly onto the football, trying to pull it away from the other.

“Wow, such a good friend” Lay scoffed, pushing Chen playfully.

Chen smirked, “Tough love man, that’s the only way to do it”

Lay rolled his eyes, but said nothing else on the topic, instead choosing to watch Suho sing to himself as he carried a sack of rice and what looked like a zip lock bag of seasoned chicken .

--

“You kicked it offside! It’s my throw in! Let go of the ball, Sehun!”

“No, it didn’t go offside! You’re cheating! You let go, Luhan!”

“Oh puh-lease. I think I know a little more about football than the likes of you, Sehun

The two of them continued to bicker, until finally Chanyeol walked over to them and took the ball away.

“HEY!” the two yelled in unison, making Chanyeol frown.

“Don’t you ‘hey’ me. If you can’t play nicely, you don’t play at all. Now, go sit in your tent and think about your behaviour,” He said before turning away to look at Kris and Xiumin, “Xiumin-ssi, let’s play one on one? Kris can ref, then play the winner, yeah? First to five goals?”

“Sure, let’s do it!” Xiumin grinned, flashing Luhan a peace sign before turning his back on him.

Luhan and Sehun stood there for a moment, start incredulously at the boys, before Kris gave them a pointed look and the two of them moodily made their way back to their tent.

Once inside, they took to their sleeping bags, Sehun sitting with his legs crossed and his elbows rested on his knees, whilst  Luhan opted to lay down and face away from the younger.

“This is your fault you know” Luhan huffed, resting his head on his pillow and closing his eyes.

Sehun sighed, “Yeah, because it’s always me, isn’t it?” he said tiredly.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Luhan asked quietly, the fight gone out of him.

Rolling his eyes, Sehun laid down on his back, tucking his hands behind his head and staring up at the ceiling of the tent, “It means that you can’t ever take responsibility, can you? It’s always someone else, be it me or your friends, you can never admit to being in the wrong”

Luhan frowned slightly and to his other side to face Sehun, “You don’t know how I am with my friends, so don’t try and act like you do” he sighed, “I’m not just being a , you know. Despite what you might think”

“Then what’s your problem with me?” Sehun asked, turning his head to look at the elder.

“It’s nothing really...” Luhan ran a frustrated hand over his face, “I just... You irritate me! I can’t explain it, but you just do. You’re this stupidly smart person that has amazing friends – not that mine aren’t, but I mean in a different way – you get away with anything in school, and more over, nobody ever says to you about who you are, what you like, anything... it’s not fair. So why should I be nice to you as well, when you’re clearly not the guy everyone thinks you are! You’re kind of a to be honest...”

Sehun looked at the elder disbelievingly.  This had to be some kind of joke...

“Are you kidding me?”  Sehun sighed, “Luhan,  I might be smart, but do you realise how much I get for that? The reason people don’t say to me is because they talk about me behind my back. Not only that, but have you seen how people treat you? Jesus Luhan, you get on with everyone and anyone, so you can’t sit there and tell me I’ve got the easy life when you don’t ing know anything about me”

At that, Luhan scoffed, “Yeah, because I talk to everyone, I’ve got a great deal. Do you ever wonder why I don’t answer things in classes, or why I just keep my head down if I’m on my own? Because if I don’t then some idiot thinks they're clever, and calls me a ‘’ or a ing ‘gay boy’ and then runs off to giggle about it with his friends. It’s not like I’m ashamed of who I am, but , it gets tiring some times. You have no idea”

Sehun his side and propped himself up on his elbow, looking towards Luhan with a softer expression, “You know by taking this all out on me, it’s not going to change anything”

Luhan closed his eyes and sighed, “I guess you’re just an easy target...”

“Luhan...”

“Don’t, Sehun.  We’re not friends, we never have been, so stop trying to act like we are, the only reason I’m even talking to you about this is because I’m pissed off about being treated like a kid by my own best friends. So save it, okay?” Luhan rolled onto his back, keeping his eyes closed and breathing softly.

Sehun noted, that when Luhan wasn’t complaining, or yelling, or getting angry with him, he looked quite young, and rather pretty too. There was a gentle innocence about the elder when he just laid there calmly. He looked peaceful for the first time in all the time that Sehun had known him.

When he thought about it, Sehun was quite sad that he didn’t know the Luhan he’d seen around school. The one that smiled at stupid jokes, or laughed with someone even though they clearly weren’t funny. The one that teased his friends and grinned when he got something right. The Luhan that would back hug you out of the blue, or peck you on the cheek and then run away because he thought it was funny. The one that would pout when someone stole his food or called him girly.

He wanted to know that Luhan. Not the one that just wanted to argue with him and cause trouble. Was that so much to ask for?

“You're staring” Luhan snapped him out of his reverie, though when he looked at the elder, his eyes were still closed and he still looked peaceful.

Sehun gaped slightly, “How did you...” he started, before realising it was probably best to deny that he was even looking at the other, let alone staring.

But to his surprise, Luhan smiled slightly, “I can feel you watching me. I’d be flattered if I weren’t so creeped out”

Despite himself, Sehun laughed. He really laughed until finally Luhan was laughing along with him. It was stupid and pointless and by the end of it, neither of them knew what was so funny, but the laughter most certainly lightened the mood.

The laughter died down before the two made eye contact and started off again, losing themselves in the warm glow that the giggling had set over them.

Luhan was lost in the moment, it had been so long since he felt light and free, and he almost revelled in it. It was like Sehun had just took the weight off his shoulders and let him finally stand right again. And whether it was the fact that it was Sehun, or the fact he was just so exhausted, he couldn’t help but enjoy the feeling of light-heartedness that had swept over him.

It wasn’t that he didn’t want to get on with the younger, it was just that Sehun was always the one he pushed his hurt, his anger and frustration onto. It was just second nature to him now and he didn’t even want to think about what his words and actions did to the other, nor what kind of image that it gave him.

He loathed to think of what kind of person Sehun thought he must be, and by default Sehun’s friends, because surely the younger must have told them how awful of a person Luhan really was.

But he decided not to dwell on that in the moment. Not wanting to put a downer on the new sense of happiness he felt.

“Thank you” Luhan said after the two had finally calmed down.

Sehun raised a brow, “For what?”

“For making me laugh like I’ve not laughed in a long time” was all Luhan said before he got up and made his way out of the tent, leaving a softly smiling Sehun behind him.

--

“Yixing? Jongdae? You can come help me now, if that’s okay!” Suho called over to the pair, who came to his assistance right away.

“What can we do for you, Mr. Kim?” Chen smiled politely.

Suho smiled back and pointed to the chicken, “Jongdae, can you grill the chicken for me, whilst Yixing and I sort out the rice and sides?”

“Sure thing, teach” Chen saluted playfully and walked over to do as he’d been asked.

Lay smiled awkwardly and followed Suho over to where a pot holding rice and water was slowly cooking over an open flame.

The two of them sat down side by side on the ground and began to work on a few easy to do side dishes.

“So, Yixing-ah, how are you finding it so far?” Suho asked softly, handing a small bowl over to the student, their hands brushing ever so slightly, making Lay blush, as per usual.

“It’s nice,” Lay smiled, “I think it’ll be an... interesting two weeks” he chuckled softly.

Suho smiled slightly, “I have to say, I completely agree. Very interesting, I’ll wager”

Lay raised an eyebrow, but didn’t comment on the statement, instead choosing to focus on his chore.

Every now and then, he would glance at Suho, sometimes getting caught by said teacher, other times watching as the elder would stick his tongue out slightly in concentration, making him blush more than he thought was humanly possible.

But then he couldn’t help but think about what Chen had said earlier in the day... It really was pointless to be crushing on a teacher. Nothing good would ever come of it, right?

Lay felt a soft poke to his cheek and turned to see Suho looking at him, his face showing just how concerned he was.

“Yeah?” Lay voiced without thinking.

Suho smiled slightly, “I asked if you were okay? You spaced out for a moment. You’re not getting sick are you?” he frowned, pressing a hand to Lay’s forehead, making the younger blush.

“I... I’m f-fine”

“You sure? You’re kind of hot...” Suho asked, reaching over and placing his hands on either of Lay’s cheeks and looking over the younger’s face.

Lay nodded slightly, letting his eyes flutter closed at the feeling of Suho’s hands on his face.

It might have only been a minute, but it felt like a lifetime later that Suho finally removed his hands from Lay’s face.

“We should start setting up and call the other’s over. Come on, let’s go see if Jongdae’s done”  Suho got to his feet and held out a hand for Lay to take.

Shyly, the younger took Suho’s out stretched hand and got to his feet before the two of them gathered up the side dishes and took them over to where Chen had piled the chicken onto a plate.

They set up all the food on a blanket before Suho called the others over and then twelve of them sat down and ate. There was little chit-chat as they scoffed down the food as though they hadn’t eaten in days.

“Wow, ChenChen, I didn’t know you were capable of not burning everything” Kris smirked, earning himself laughs from the others.

Chen rolled his eyes, “Just because you can’t cook, doesn’t mean nobody else can, duizhang”

The others laughed and ate until there was nothing left and the sun began to set.

At which point, Suho started up the campfire and everyone sat around it in pairs. Xiumin with Chen, Kai with Kyungsoo, Kris with Tao, Baekhyun with Chanyeol, Lay with Suho and finally, Sehun with Luhan.

“So, who’s up for marshmallows?” Suho beamed as the questions was met with a chorus of yeses; he picked up a few bags of the fluffy treats from behind him before passing around some sticks to roast them on.

“You know,” Chanyeol beamed, stabbing his marshmallow with the stick and placing it over the flames, “I’ve had a pretty good day. Setting up, playing football, stopping those two idiots” he pointed at Sehun and Luhan, “from killing each other then food and marshmallows, yup, I think it’s gonna be a good couple of weeks”

“Here here!” Baekhyun, Kris, Chen and Kai cheered in unison.

Suho smiled as he looked around at the happy teens chatting with one another before he cleared his throat.

The chatter subsided and the boys all looked towards their teacher. Lay tried not to move away too obviously as his thigh and arm brushed against Suho’s,  but if the latter noticed, he didn’t show it.

“So, you’re all probably wondering what we’ll be doing whilst we’re here...” Suho said, smiling slightly as the others nodded, “Well, tomorrow, you’ll be happy to know you can have a bit of a lie-in. You won’t have to be up until ten, but you will need to be ready for half past eleven because we’re going on a little hike through the woods. When you get up, there’ll be a station for you all to make a pack up, make sure you’ve got one before we leave because we’ll be gone for the better part of the day, okay?  Then the day after that, we’ll be heading over to the lake, for the morning and there’ll be someone checking in on us in the afternoon, so we’ll come back here and play some games or something. As for the rest of the time... Well, you’ll have to wait and see” he grinned.

There were a mix of groans and cheers around the campfire.

“Sir, do we have  to hike?” Tao whined, “That means walking in the mud and I don’t want to get dirty”

Baekhyun nodded in agreement.

“Gees, what did you think this was going to be?” Sehun scoffed, “Two weeks at the Marriott? We’re in the wilderness, for Christ’s sake...”

“Sehun, enough of that” Suho warned, “And Tao, you were told in the letter we gave out the things you’d be up to... That reminds me, you all brought your hiking boots, right?”

“Yes, sir” they all said before giggling.

“Come on guys, quit complaining, it’ll be fun!” Chanyeol beamed, then squeaked as he burnt his tongue on his sixth marshmallow.

Luhan laughed at the giant idiot, but then ended up doing the same, catching Sehun smile when he yelped at the sharp pain to his tongue.

Luhan frowned before nudging Sehun with his elbow, “Quit laughing at me”

“Wasn’t laughing” Sehun smirked, “I was smiling, there’s a difference”

Luhan’s frown deepened, “But you don’t smile. You’re Sehun...”

“Thanks, I was wondering who I was” Sehun rolled his eyes, “And yes, I do smile, just not around you” he added in a superior tone, making Luhan roll his eyes.

They continued to feast on the marshmallows until all the bags were empty and Baekhyun had stuffed himself to the point of almost throwing up, then few by few, they began to make their ways to their tents to settle down for the night.

Luhan noticed the blush on Lay’s face as the younger entered his own tent, shortly after their teacher, making Luhan smirk. Ah, his friend was oh so obvious.

He said goodnight to Xiumin before making his way into his own tent where Sehun was already changed and in his sleeping bag, laying on his front, facing towards Luhan’s own bag with his eyes closed.

Luhan quickly changed into his all-in-one before slipping into his sleeping bag – albeit cringing as he did because he realised he’d not brushed his teeth – and getting settled.

The silence that took over then was a little overwhelming to Luhan. He’d never been camping before – not even in his back yard – and the earlier excitement was dying down very, very quickly.

The sound of Sehun’s soft breathing helped him to calm his own slightly, but it wasn’t enough to distract him for the rustling leaves and whistling wind on the other side of the thin tent wall. It was almost ridiculous to Luhan, how the sound of a snapping twig could scare the living day lights out of him when he talked a big game about being manly. But come on, who wouldn’t be scared if there was a possible bear outside your tent, waiting to eat you alive?!

“Luhan, stop thinking so much” Sehun murmured tiredly.

Luhan gasped slightly, realising that Sehun wasn’t actually sleeping and could probably hear him fidgeting around nervously.

“I... I’m not.. I j-just can’t get comfortable, is all” Luhan defended himself lamely.

Sehun sighed and cracked an eye open, looking at Luhan through the darkness, “Are you scared?”

“NO!” Luhan said too quickly, before sighing, “I’ve never been camping before...” he admitted reluctantly.

Sehun smiled into the darkness before ping his bag fully and getting out of it, “Get up” he said to Luhan, moving over to where the elder was now sitting up confusedly.

“What?”

“Just... Move out of the way for a second” Sehun rolled his eyes, pushing Luhan out of his sleeping bag and ping that fully too.

Luhan’s brows furrowed, “What are you doing, Sehun?”

“Shh” Sehun said, zipping his and Luhan’s bags together, “Just wait”

He laid them out again so that now they had one large bag between them before sliding into it and gesturing for Luhan to do the same.

Not really getting what was happening, Luhan followed Sehun into the bag and laid down awkwardly.

“Relax” Sehun murmured sleepily, pulling Luhan closer and taking his hand, linking their fingers together.

“W-What are you doing?” Luhan asked nervously.

Sehun yawned, “Despite what you think, I’m not heartless, Luhan. You’re scared and I’m not just going to let you cry your way through the first night. I thought this would help okay?” he said, his voice barely a whisper now, “My cousin and I used to camp a lot when we were younger, and I used to get scared, so she’d do this and it’d help... So just, sleep, okay?”

“Okay...” Luhan whispered back, a smile tugging at his lips as he gave Sehun’s hand a gentle squeeze.

Sehun hummed, before adding, “And if you tell anyone about this, I’m going to make sure you disappear in the woods on tomorrow’s hike, got it?”

“Got it” Luhan chuckled before closing his eyes and letting Sehun’s warmth help him into dream land.

It was quiet for a long time, and Luhan found that Sehun was right. It did help. The noises outside the tent didn’t seem as scary when he was holding the younger’s hand, when he could feel Sehun’s soft breath on his cheek. Maybe sharing a tent with him wouldn’t be so bad after all.

“Luhan, remember what I said ealier?” Sehun whispered, obviously half asleep.

“What?” Luhan asked

“...”

“...”

“Stop thinking so much” he finally answered softly, “Just sleep, we’ve got a long day tomorrow”

Luhan sighed, “Okay. And thanks... for.... you know”

“No problem” Sehun said, his breath ghosting over Luhan’s cheek, making the elder fidget slightly. He only stopped when Sehun’s free arm came to rest over his chest to keep him still.

Luhan felt a lot warmer too, now that he and Sehun were sharing a bag, despite the cool night air that surrounded them. And he didn’t know whether it was the shared body heat, or the fact that he was blushing like a mad man, that was the cause.

Sehun wiggled slightly to get comfortable, making the heat rise again for Luhan who tried not to squeak as Sehun got slightly closer to him, their linked hands pressed between them both.

“Oh, and, uh Sehun?” Luhan whispered...

“What is it now, Lu?” Sehun said, his words barely loud enough to hear in his sleepy state.

Luhan smiled slightly at the nickname, “Goodnight”

A soft laugh left Sehun lips as he cracked open an eye to look at Luhan, who gasped slightly, “Goodnight Luhan. Now Sleep”

And that was all that was said before Luhan was out like a light.

Chapter 14: I've been reading through this fic all week and I just had to comment on how much I LOVE your song choices for the talent show!! Especially "All for Love" by Sting, Bryan Adams and Rod Stewart!! That's one of my all time faves that hardly anyone seems to know! I have to ask if you found this sing from watching the 90s version of the three musketeers? You've clearly had an excellent pop culture education!! The story has been really sweet and well written so far. Im looking forward to finishing it and reading the sequel!
