“May I help you?” Minji turns around and found out its Yong Guk voice.

“Nevermind. I think I can handle this” reply Minji. She is carrying a lots of books in her hands.

“It looks heavy though. Let me help me you” Before Minji can reply back Yong Guk already take over all of the books on Minji hands.

“Err.. Thanks.” Say Minji.

Both of them walk side by side towards the lecturer’s room. Then suddenly Yong Guk trip and fell with all the books he hold. Minji shock and it turn out that someone purposely  cross one leg to Yong Guk to make him fall. That someone is a familiar person for Minji.

“Bang Yong Nam!” shout Minji as she glare at him.

“Baby, I see that you’re cheating on me.” Yong Nam walk towards Minji. He put his right arm around Minji shoulder. Quickly Minji bend down and help Yong Guk to stand up. Minji picks all the books on the floor. Yong Nam feels piss off. He glare at Yong Guk before he walks away on the other way.

“Yong Guk, are you okay?” ask Minji.

“Its okay. I’m fine. How about you? Are you okay?” Yong Guk feels worry about Minji.

“I’m okay.” Answer Minji.

Minji and Yong Guk continue their way to the lecturer’s room.

Its lunch time. Minji brings her lunch-box to her favorite place.She always make her own food from home.  Minji always sit there whenever she wants to do her own revision or eat. Her favorite place is in the college garden. Minji always sit down below a tree near a fountain there. When she about to sit down on the bench someone sit on it before Minji. Minji smile to the person.

“May I join you?”

“Sure Yong Guk.” Minji takes her seat.

Minji open her lunch-box. Yong Guk just sit there and watch Minji. Minji start to eat her food and Yong Guk keep watching her with a smile on his face. After a few bite on her food, Minji realize that Yong Guk is watching her eating.

“You want some?” Minji offer her riceball.

“Don’t mind me. I’ve eaten.” Reject Yong Guk politely. He lie. He haven’t eat anything.

“Oh okay.” Minji continue eating. Minji still feel that Yong Guk is watching her eating.

“Yong Guk-a~ Why you look at me like that? Is there something wrong with me face? Or you want some of this?” say Minji with her aegyo voice as she turn to the side where Yong Guk sit. Minji always have the aegyo voice when talking.

“Nothing wrong with you. You look fine like always. Pretty.” Yong Guk giggle when he hear Minji’s aegyo voice.

“You want to know Yong Guk, some people feel uncomfortable when other are watching them eating and I feel that right now.” Tell Minji.

“Oh sorry. I didn’t mean too. Its just me.. Feels like.. I just like watching you.” Reply Yong Guk. He hope Minji understand what he mean. Yong Guk always like Minji since she first transfer there. Its been 2 years since Minji enters the college. Yong Guk made a good friend with Minji. When he feels that Minji already accepting and trusting him, Yong Guk tries his very best to make Minji notice how much he likes her. Everything Yong Guk do Minji just giggle and laugh. She just never understand the hint that Yong Guk always show.

“Hahaha. You think I’m a kind of performer like on the tv that all people likes to watch. I’m sorry but I’m not.” Minji giggle. It looks like Minji still didn’t get it.

Yong Guk let out a heavy sigh.

“Yong Guk-a, I’m going to buy drinks over there. You want something?” Minji stands up from her sit.

“Never mind. I’ll just wait here” reply Yong Guk.

“Just say whatever you want. I’ll buy it for you. A thank you gift for helping me this morning.” Minji sit back on the bench and her eyes are looking straight into Yong Guk’s eyes. Yong Guk’s heart skip a beat.

“If I say…., I want you?” Yong Guk keep hinting.

“Sorry mister. I’m not on the list in the vending machine. There’s no Minji’s drinks.” Reply Minji fast.

“Just… brings me anything.” Yong Guk feels a little bit frustrated. He always fail but he never give up.

Minji smile and walks away.Minji pace her steps towards a vending machine nearby. Just a few step from the machine suddenly someone pulls Minji away and press her on a wall. Minji is in deep shock.

“Yong Nam! What are you doing?” Minji put her both arms on Yong Nam chest to push him away but he’s too strong. Minji just keep pushing to create space between them. Yong Nam is too near to Minji. Both of Yong Nam arms sticks out and press  on the wall.

“What did I tell you before? Don’t cheat on me.” There’s a jealousy in Yong Nam eyes.

“Who cheat on who? We have nothing.” Reply Minji. She turns her face away from Yong Nam. She can feel Yong Nam breath as he’s speak.

“Let me go.” Minji tries to slip under Yong Nam arm that sticking on the wall unfortunately Yong Nam manage to grab Minji wrist and press  it on the wall. Minji turns her heads away from facing Yong Nam. Yong Nam smirk.

“Not so fast honey. Why are you so shy with me? You know that how much I like you. I like you so much that I could kill anyone that in my way. Include that Yong Guk guy.” Yong Nam whisper to Minji ear.

Minji’s eyes widen. She feels shock when hearing word kill from Yong Nam mouth.

“I give you last chance. This is last warning. If you ever get close to him, I know you understand very well the words ‘kill’ means.” Yong Nam tries to lean forward to kiss Minji but Minji manage to avoid. Yong Nam just smirk. Finally he let go Minji wrist.

“Remember that Minji.” Yong Nam wink at her and give his devilish smile. Yong Nam walks away.

Minji her wrist. Yong Nam held her wrist so tight that it leave bruise. Minji see Yong Nam walks away. The word ‘kill’ keep playing in Minji head.

“Did he really mean it?” mumble Minji alone.

“Minji-ya~ what took you so long?” Ask Yong Guk as he see Minji come. Minji remain silent. Minji quickly pack her lunch-box.

“Minji? Are you okay?” Yong Guk feels worry. Minji face looks pale. He feels like she’s hiding something from him.

“Minji-ya?” Yong Guk try to call her again. Minji seems forgotten Yong Guk presence. She keep packing and when she about to leave Yong Guk grab her by the wrist.

“Ouch!” Minji can feel the pain running over her body. Yong Guk grab her bruise wrist. Yong Guk immediately pull Minji wrist near him to get a better look. Then, he look Minji in her eyes.

“Who did this to you? Tell me!” Yong Guk voice raise.

Minji just remain silent. She’s thinking other excuses.

“Minj! Answer me! Who’s the hell to this to you!” Minji can see a flame of angry in his eyes.

“No..nothing.. I just hit something hard on my way here. I…I gotta go. I’ve got class.” Minji pull her hand and quickly walks away.

Yong Guk left behind clueless. He still thinking who is the person that dare to hurt Minji. He’s so sure that Minji is lying. Minji looks so scare. He won’t let the person go.

“I wont let go that bastard”

A few day have pass since the day Yong Nam threatened Minji. That few days Minji always avoid from meeting Yong Guk. Whenever Yong Guk greets and tried talking to Minji, she always give reason to him. That way Minji didn’t have to spend longer time with Yong Guk. One day, Yong Guk feels so frustrated because he can’t meet and talk with Minji like usual. He can feels something is going wrong. He try to approach Minji when no one is around.

“Minji! Minji-ya!” Yong Guk call Minji.

Minji walks faster as soon as she hear Yong Guk voice. Yong Guk run towards Minji.

“Minji, listen here. We need to talk.” Say Yong Guk as he reach besides Minji. Minji keeps walking while Yong Guk walks on the same pace as Minji.

“Sorry, I.. I’ve got something urgent to do.” Minji keep walking.

Yong Guk grab Minji on her arm and pull it making her stop.

“What’s wrong with you Minji? Tell me. Since that day, you always avoid me and won’t talk to me. Why? Have I done something wrong to you? I’m so sorry if I ever done anything that makes you feels bad” Yong Guk looks into Minji eye as he speak.

“Its not you! Its just.. nothing. I’ve got to go” Minji quickly try to walk away but Yong Guk manage to pull her back.

“Stop lying Minji! I know something is wrong but I don’t what. You look scare. If you tell me, maybe I can help. I mean, I’ll try my very best to help you. I can’t stand you avoiding me everyday. I just can’t stand not seeing you and talk to you. Now please tell me. Please.” Beg Yong Guk.

Minji eyes become watery. She feel like falling on the ground. Her leg become weak. She do really feel scare. She don’t know for how much longer she can keep the thing that Yong Nam had told her. Minji can hold her tears anymore. Watching her cry, Yong Guk pull Minji towards him. Yong Guk give Minji a hug.

“Its okay Minji-ya. Don’t cry.” Yong Guk Minji hair softly.

After a few minute, Minji stop crying. Yong Guk waiting for Minji to talk. He hopes she would tell him. Unfortunately, she didn’t. Yong Guk feel disappointed but he doesn’t ask her again. He afraid Minji would cry again. He let Minji go but actually Yong Guk decides to follow her silently until she reach home safely.

Minji make her way to home without even realizing Yong Guk is following her. Just a few steps to her home Minji stop her step.

“Hi, baby.” Yong Nam is waiting in front of her front gate.

“What are you doing here? How did you know where my house?”  Minji didn’t even try to walk forward.

“I’m waiting for you honey. What did took you so long to go back?” Yong Nam walks towards Minji. Minji taking a step back.

“Did you still meets him? It seem you forget what did I told you.” Yong Nam grab Minji wrist and pull her towards him. The other Yong Nam hand holding Minji waist tight.

“Let me go Yong Nam. It hurt.” Minji try to pull her hand away from Yong Nam. Yong Nam just smirk.

“You’re only mine.” Yong Nam start to lean forward to kiss Minji.

“Yong Nam no!” Minji really feels want to run away as fast as she could far from him.

Suddenly grab Yong Nam by shoulder and pull him backwards. Yong Nam is shock. Its Yong Guk. Yong Guk throw punch on Yong Nam face. Yong Nam fall on the ground. Minji is in deep shock.

“So you the one who makes Minji cry.” Yong Guk pull Minji to his back. 

Yong Nam sit on the ground. His mouth already bleeding. Yong Nam laugh devilish alone. He wipe off the blood on his mouth.

“Don’t ever touch Minji again or even think getting near Minji again. Keep in mind.” Yong Guk looks really angry.

Yong Guk take Minji hand and walks away from Yong Nam still sit on the ground. Yong Guk and Minji walks into Minji’s house. Minji is living alone. Minji take out her house key from her bag. She try to unlock the door but her hands are trembling. Seeing that, Yong Guk take the key from Minji hands and unlock the door for her. As soon the door is open Minji rush inside. Yong Guk follow behind. Minji sit on the sofa, crying. Yonf Guk sit beside her, he take Minji hand and look at it. Her wrist bruise again.

“Minji, I’m sorry. I can’t protect you well.” Yong Guk feels guilty.

“No Yong Guk. Its not your fault. Its my fault. You’ll get hurt because of me. I don’t want my friends get hurt because of me. You’re the only best friend that I have. ” Reply Minji between her sob.

“I don’t care if I get hurt because of you. You mean so much to me. You’re precious to me.” Yong Guk looks deeps into her eyes.

“But I do care! Yong Nam is trying to kill you if I keep hanging with you. That guy is totally insane because of me. He likes me but I don’t. But I really scare if he do really kills you. I don’t wanna lose you. Lose my best friend.” Minji tears rolls down more on her cheeks.

Yong Guk hugs her.

“Minji-ya. Don’t worry. I won’t get kill. I believe Yong Nam is just threatening you for his own good. You’re not even his girlfriend or anything. I promise to you, I’ll always be beside you and you won’t have to lose me. I also will protect you.” Yong Guk is shock when he hear about Yong Nam wants to kill him just because of jealousy but he keep calm so Minji would feel at ease.

“Minji-ya. I love you” Yong Guk whisper silently in his heart.

The next day, Minji and Yong Guk starts to hang together again. Minji still feels worry but Yong Guk keep assuring her. Few days passes, Minji feels totally okay again. Minji also haven’t saw Yong Nam since that night. Yong Guk also always there beside Minji. Everyday, Yong Guk would wait infront of Minji house and they go to the college together and so do night. Yong Guk send Minji home. Minji feels happy with Yong Guk.

A week after the incident infront Minji house.

“Minji, wait here. I’ll take our bags at the park. I won’t be long okay?” Say Yong Guk. Minji nod to Yong Guk.

Minji stands at wait at the college front gate. She wait for Yong Guk. Just a few seconds after Yong Guk away suddenly a guy curl his arm around Minji shoulder.

“Hey baby, miss me?” A familiar voice come out from that guy.

“Yong Nam. What do you want? If you tell me you want to kill Yong Guk, I won’t believe you. I don’t feel scare anymore.” Minji somehow get strength to overcome her fear.

“Baby, how could you say that after a week we haven’t met. I miss you so much.” Yong Nam hold up Minji chin. Minji quickly turns her head.

Yong Nam suddenly pulls Minji hair.

“You think I’m lying? We’ll see what happen tonight. After tonight, you’ll be mine.” Yong Nam smile devilishly to Minji. After that he peck a kiss on Minji cheek which make her shock.

“See you tonight.” Yong Nam walks away. At the same time Yong Guk come. He saw what Yong Nam did to Minji. Yong Guk wants to chase Yong Nam and punch him again. Minji stops her.

“Yong Guk don’t. You.. you might get hurt. Please. For me.” Minji become scare again. The feeling of Yong Nam really will kill Yong Guk come back.

“Yong Guk lets go.” Continue Minji. Yong Guk nod but inside he really want to chase Yong Nam.

“Minji, I think I gotta go. Something urgent come. Go inside. I’ll be here tonight. Don’t worry.” Tell Yong Guk.

“Okay. Please be safe.” Reply Minji as she wave him goodbye. Minji pray silently inside. She feels like keeping Yong Guk inside of her house tonight. She afraid of what Yong Nam will do to him.

Yong Guk lie. He didn’t listen to Minji. He go search everywhere for Yong Nam. He can’t let him go just like that. Yong Nam is sitting with his friends at the café near the campus. Without even greeting, Yong Guk straight away kick Yong Nam on the stomach which make him fall backward. Yong Guk pull Yong Nam on his shirt and throw a few punches on Yong Nam face. Yong Nam face starts to bleed so much. Daehyun and Zelo who are there with Yong Nam grab Yong Guk arm and stop him  from punching Yong Nam.

“Damn you Yong Nam ! What did I told you before?? Don’t ever get near Minji and touch her. But what did you do today? !” Yong Guk eyes are burning with angry.

Yong Nam smirk. He get up. Yong Nam’s face bleed so much. His mouth, eyebrow and cheeks sure leaving scars.

“Who are you to Minji? Brother? Cousin? Or Boyfriend? None of it. Oh wait, you like Minji, don’t you. But does she know? You see, I also like this pretty Minji. So, we have the similarities there. But what makes me different than you, Minji know I like her. You?” Yong Nam whisper to Yong Guk ear. Yong Guk is trying hard to escape his arm but Daehyun and Zelo are holding to tight.

“And so what if she know you like her? Do she likes you? Do she have a heart on you? Do she feels the same as you?” reply Yong Guk. Yong Nam feels angry when Yong Guk said that. But its true, Minji doesn’t even like him. Yong Nam punch strongly on Yong Guk stomach. Yong Guk kneels down because of pain from Yong Nam’s punch.

 “I think Minji have told you about my plan to kill you. I guess I have to change my plan. If I can’t have her, I’ll make sure you also will never have her. You know what I mean. I’ll send her away, far away, never come back. That way, we’re both never have her.” Whisper Yong Nam again.

Yong Nam and both of his friend leave Yong Guk there. Yong Guk is speechless there when he hear Yong Nam words.

“Kill her?”

“Ya, Yong Nam, are you sure about things that you tell to Yong Guk? Kill Minji?” Ask Daehyun.

“I thought you really so into her that you wouldn’t even let anyone get near her” Continue Zelo.

“You think I would really kill Minji? It is just trap. Part of my plan. We’ll see how it goes.” Yong Nam just give his friend evil smile.

The clock strike 10 o’clock. Minji become worry. Usually Yong Guk will come at 8 and he would accompany Minji. 2 hour had pass but Yong Guk didn’t show up. Minji tried calling him so many time but she kept directed to voice mail.

KKRRRIINNNGGG! KKKRRRIINNGGG! KKKRRRRIIINNNGGG!!

“Yong Guk-a!” Minji pick up her phone.

“Minji-ssi, its me Him Chan. Come to hospital right now. Yong Guk involved in accident. Someone hit him.” Him Chan is Yong Guk house mate.

Minji heart feels like to stop. Immediately she run toward the hospital. Luckily her house is near to the hospital that Him Chan told her. Minji rush to the ICU. At the time she come the operation ended.

“Him Chan! Where is Yong Guk? Where is he??!!!” Minji is miserable. From the house until the hospital she cries non-stop. She worry Yong Guk will go.

“Calm down Minji-ssi. The operation just end. We’ll wait for the doctor to come out.” Him Chan comfort Minji.

Then the doctor come out.

“How is Yong Guk doctor? Is he okay?” Minji rush toward the doctor.

“Luckily, the patient injury is not that serious. Just a few stitches added. He should be okay. But..” The doctor stop for a while.

“I need to meet his family or relatives.” The doctor continue.

“I’m… I’m his friend. He live alone here.” Minji volunteer.

“Come to my office”

Minji feel her life is hopeless. She hide herself at the exit staircase. She just can’t believe what had the doctor told her.

“Why Yong Guk haven’t told me all this time? Why he still promising me something that he would never keep? Why?” The questions keep playing in her mind. Then suddenly the door open. Minji stop her sobbing.

“Do you still believe I am lying Minji-ya? Tonight, he’s just lucky. I can finish him tonight but I think about you honey. Poor you crying like this. I give you one last chance to properly say goodbye to him. If you resist, tomorrow will be the end.” Yong Nam is the person behind the accident. Minji had knew this all his plan.

“Yong Nam don’t. Please don’t kill him.” Minji kneel before Yong Nam.

“Then don’t hang again with him.” Yong Nam feels happy Minji is begging him.

“But Yong Guk isn’t going to live any longer. Don’t kill him. Please.” Minji don’t want Yong Guk being kill but she also don’t want to avoid and not meet him again. She wants to always be beside Yong Guk. She love him now.

“I won’t kill him if you get away from him honey.” Yong Nam kneel beside Minji.

“Don’t kill him Yong Nam. He’s about to die. He has cancer. He only got few days left. Let me be with him. I just have fall in love with him.” Minji finally confess her feeling.

Yong Nam become angry.

“Choosing between him dying slowly and killing him. I choose to kill him with my own hand. It gives me pleasure more. Now think carefully, make the decision. Wrong choice, he’ll die faster than the few days you thought. I give you time until tomorrow night. 12 o’clock sharp in the midnight. Say farewell speech properly sweetheart.” Yong Nam leaves Minji.

Minji cries even louder than before. First, after she know Yong Guk has cancer, she would really loss him any time. Then now, she have to go away from him. Minji want to tell Yong Guk about the feeling she have for him before he die but she guess she won’t have the chance.

Minji walks helplessly towards Yong Guk room. Yong Guk still unconscious. Minji sit beside Yong Guk bed. She reach Yong Guk hand.

“Yong Guk-a. I’m sorry. I’m very sorry.” Say Minji. Her tear didn’t dry up yet.

Minji peck a kiss on Yong Guk forehead. She about to walk away but then her hand being pull.

“Don’t go Minji. Stay with me. Please.” Yong Guk wakes up.

Minji stop. She really want just go away from there but her feet and heart say don’t.

“I need you Minji. Please.” Continue Yong Guk.

Minji couldn’t even leave Yong Guk since last night. Yong Guk was so happy to have Minji by her side. Minji feels the same but in the same time she feeling sad, worry as the time flowing. An hour left.

“Minji. Thanks.” Yong Guk sit on his bed. He somehow looks pale and weak.

“No. I am the one should say thank you to you.” Reply Minji.

“Minji. I need to tell you something. I… I.. I like you for all this time.” Finally Yong Guk confess. Minji heart skip a beat. Now she feels more uneasy leaving Yong Guk.

“I know this is somehow suddenly but I can’t it any longer. I like you.. No, I love you Minji.” Yong Guk reach Minji hand and hold it.

Minji tears start to flow. She doesn’t know how to respond. She also want to say she like him but her lip lock. Only tears are flowing.

“Minji..? Why are you crying?” Yong Guk become curious.

Minji embrace Yong Guk. She just want to stay there. She doesn’t want to leave. Slowly she pull her arm and cup Yong Guk face. Minji kiss him slowly. Yong Guk kiss her back. Minji want the time to stop right now at that moment.

Minji slowly break the kiss.

“I.. love you too Yong Guk.” Minji pull herself away from Yong Guk. She walks towards the door.

“Minji. Where are you going? Minji-ya~” Yong Guk keep calling her but Minji didn’t turn back. She walks without even looking back. Her heart hurt more as she hear Yong Guk calling her. Minji run away from there.

As Minji reach outside the hospital building her phone ring.

“Hey baby. Good job. Now, sleep well at home. I’ll see you tomorrow. Don’t worry. I won’t kill him. Love you Minji.” Yong Nam hung up the phone.

Minji feels like turning back but she’ll afraid Yong Nam will kill him. For Yong Guk sake, she let him go. She don’t want to be the reason Yong Guk death. Minji walks to her home with heavy feet.

KKKRRRRIINNGGG!!! KKKRRRRIIINNNGGGG!!! KKKKRRRRIIINNNNGGG!!

“Yong Nam stop calling me. I..” Minji thought it was Yong Nam that call.

“Minji, this is Him Chan. Yong Guk is missing! He isn’t in his room.” Minji in deep shock.

At the same time, Minji see Yong Nam car pass her. Minji get bad feeling. Immediately she grab a taxi and follow Yong Nam car behind. After a while of following, Yong Nam car stop at an old abandon warehouse. Minji text Him Chan the address to call the police. Then she carefully and silently follow Yong Guk inside the warehouse. Minji find herself a place to hide inside the warehouse. It is dark inside. Thankfully the full moon help her to see the surrounding inside. Minji can’t find Yong Nam figure. A few moments later she hear a voice, shouting.

“Yong Nam! BANG YONG NAM ! Where are you? Where did you hid Minji??!!”  Minji know that voice.

“Yong Guk? Hide me?” Minji thought to herself.

“YONG NAM!!! Where’s Minji?!!!!” Yong Guk voice fill the dark empty warehouse.

Minji move slowly to the side to get better view of Yong Guk. She just see Yong Guk shadow. He can barely stand up. Minji keep searching for Yong Nam.

“It can’t be. Yong Nam wouldn’t kill Yong Guk. He’d promise me if I leave Yong Guk, he wouldn’t kill Yong Guk.” Minji feels more unease.

Minji hear sound of a body fall on the ground. Yong Guk fall on the ground. He is no longer have strength to stand up. The cancer cell is slowly killing him inside. Like the doctor had said Yong Guk is in last stage. He can’t sure how many longer Yong Guk can live. It depend on him.

Then she hear the sound of metal friction. Spefically, gun load. Minji can finally see Yong Nam. Yong Nam using the dark warehouse to approach Yong Guk that is already struggling to stand up.

“Bang Yong Guk. Ready to say goodbye properly.” Say Yong Nam.

Minji can see from her place that Yong Nam is pointing a gun to Yong Guk. Yong Guk can’t see. Yong Nam is about to pull the trigger.

“Yong Nam NO!!!!”

BANGGGGG!!!!

A sound of body fall on the ground.

“Minji!!!!!”

It was Minji that hit the bullet. It hit straight on her chest.

Yong Guk struggle crawl to Minji. Blood flowing out heavily from Minji body.

“Minji. Don’t die. Minji!!!” Yong Guk shouting, calling for Minji.

“Yong…Yong.. Yong Guk.. Are you okay?” Minji turns her head to Yong Guk. She try to reach Yong Guk and so do Yong Guk.

“Stay strong Minji. Don’t say anything.” Yong Guk trying really hard reaching Minji. He feel so much pain in his head because of the cancer he has but he try to hold it.

“Yong Guk… Sorry.. Thank you.. I.. I .. I love you…” A drop of tear fall from Minji eyes.

“Minji!!!!”

The police arrive not long after that. They manage to caught Yong Nam that hiding in the bushes not far from the warehouse. The police also find two dead bodies holding hands inside the warehouse. One body was confirmed died being shot and the other died because of cancer.
