Ah... just what am I doing? I kept thinking to myself as I waited outside the field. Guys wearing big bad uniforms walked past me. I'm gonna kill Jess if she doesn't show up.

"Oops. Sorry" said a guy in a helmet after bumping into me.

"It's cool" I said, not paying attention to him. I was used to people ignoring me and walking away, but when the guy turned, my insides twisted in wonder.

"Aren't you..."

"Kaitlin!" yelled two people from two different directions, and I shook my head, not knowing which way to pick. When I turned to my left, I saw Jess finally coming out of the school building after dolling herself for her crush, and when I turned to the right... it was...

"Are you here to watch the game?" my dad's best friend's son asked me.

"Um..." I looked at Jess who was busy talking to the guy in the helmet. By any chance...

"Wow. Makes me feel good. But hurt at the same time. Since, you know, we never win"

"Wow, way to go, the guy who's about to go play" I said to him, and he let out a smile.

"You're really here to watch us play?" he asked, and I shook my head.

"I'm here for her. And... apparently him, I think" I said, not sure of my answer.

"Ouch. You're not here to see this hot cousin of yours play but another guy? Hurts me"

"We're not cousins, Heath. Just because we share last names doesn't make us family" I said leaving him to join Jess.

"Hi, I'm Chen. We already talked" the tall guy introduced himself to me. I smiled and introduced myself properly before Heath joined us.

"You know Kaitlin?"

"Um... yeah... though we only met in person now" he said, switching the helmet he has taken off to talk to Jess from one hand to the other. Heath looked at me and gave a look I just chose to ignore.

"You guys better go" said Jess, taking my hand. "Good luck... Chen" she said, and Chen waved, not turning back. "Oh gosh, that was awkward" Jess spoke after the two guys left.

"Why?"

"I mean... Heath ignores you 24/7 but now suddenly appears and talks to you. I mean, whaaat?"

"Let's go" I said smiling, pulling my friend in towards the field benches.

            As expected, we lost the game.
