Believe Only Half of What You See and Nothing That You Hear - indefinite hiatusBaekhyun gives his tall, big-eared friend a disgusted look. “Didn’t your mom ever teach you how to eat like a civilized human being?” he complains.
It’s lunchtime and he and his best friend, Chanyeol, are eating lunch outside in the bailey. It’s still a little chilly, but the fresh air is nice and a lot of students are taking advantage of the nice – and thankfully dry – afternoon.
Chanyeol looks up from where he’s got a huge glob of kimchi in his mouth. He tries to answer, but his mouth is too full so he just ends up mumbling.
Baekhyun can’t help but laugh. Chanyeol always makes him laugh.
Eventually Chanyeol manages to fully chew the wad of food and swallows it down with audible gulp. “I’m incredibly civilized,” he declares in a mock-offended tone. “I am the most civilized person you know.”
“You’ve got kimchi on your chin,” Baekhyun replies flatly.
Chanyeol flushes and quickly wipes his chin.
“No, not there. The other side,” Baekhyun says.
Chanyeol wipes again, but again he misses.
“Oh for the love of all things holy,” Baekhyun groans. “Here, let me.” And he reaches across, using his thumb to wipe the smear of red sauce off his friend’s chin. He doesn’t notice the way Chanyeol suddenly turns almost as bright a shade of red as the kimchi he’d just eaten.
“That’s better,” Baekhyun says, satisfied, settling back into his spot.
Chanyeol quickly busies himself with his rice so he can compose himself once more.
Thankfully Baekhyun changes the topic. “Have you seen that new 2NE1 photoshoot that came out yesterday?” he asks eagerly. “Man, CL is looking quite delicious these days.”
Chanyeol makes a face. “Nah, they’re too plastic for my taste. Besides, I can’t date a girl who can rap better than I can.”
“There’s gotta be someone in that group that you think is pretty,” Baekhyun presses.
Chanyeol doesn’t even have to think about it. “No, not especially. I mean, they’re all pretty, but they just don’t do it for me.” He doesn’t mention that there’s only person who really does it for him anyway.
“What about f(x)? Or Miss A?” Baekhyun pushes, genuinely curious. “I have no idea what your type is. You never talk about it.”
“Because, unlike you, I can keep it in my pants,” Chanyeol teases, hoping to avoid having to answer the question. “Everyone knows Taeyeon from Girl’s Generation is your type.”
Baekhyun grins cheesily. “What can I say? I’m a fanboy through and through.”
So am I, Chanyeol thinks to himself, but they fanboy about totally different things. And people.
“Hmm, what about Suzy? She’s really pretty,” Baekhyun continues thoughtfully. “Or Go Ahra?”
Chanyeol shrugs his shoulders noncommittally. This isn’t a conversation he particularly wants to be having.
But maybe he’s easier to read than he thinks. “Or what about Donghae from Super Junior? There’s something about his face that is super attractive.”
Chanyeol blushes again. “But…he’s a guy.”
Baekhyun scoffs out loud. “Please. Don’t be such a prude, Chanyeol. In this day and age, it’s totally okay to think a guy is hot. I think Donghae is hot and I’m not ashamed to say it.”
Chanyeol’s blush deepens. “Okay, maybe he is a little hot.”
Baekhyun grins. “There you go. So now maybe I know your type.”
As if, Chanyeol thinks glumly as they gather up their belongings and head back into the castle to continue afternoon lessons. Oblivious Baekhyun continues to chat about hot girls and guys as they walk to their next class, but Chanyeol can only think about the one person he really likes.
