Contract

I tried to forget you

“Minnie, you came” Luhan yelled as soon as Minseok stepped off the bus. Minseok looked around at the scenery and realised at once where he was. SM entertainment. Of course, he could tell what building it was even with his eyes shut.

The sky that day was dull and dark, quite fitting seeing as he was in a place where so much pain was felt. Even the trees seemed to be sad.

It was only Minseok and Luhan out on that road, there were a few fangirls about a hundred metres away, but they were walking in the other direction.

Minseok smiled slightly as he remembered when he could walk out and see hundreds of smiling faces screaming his name, it seemed as if it had only been a dream. No, it had been a nightmare. He started frowning again as he remembered that he would never hear someone scream his name like that again.

He looked up and also remembered where he was, and who he was with.

Luhan ran up to Minseok and grabbed his arm gently

“Come on” he said grinning widely making wrinkles appear underneath his eyes

“wait” Minseok said looking at the ground, his hair covering his face. He could feel his heart beating and it felt as if it would rip right out of his chest, Luhan hadn’t been this close for a long time, and Minseok wasn’t emotionally ready for anything more that talking.

He pulled his arm out of Luhan’s grip and began to raise his head, but decided not to look at Luhan, so he went back to staring at the ground. Yes, he didn’t need annoying, intrusive, slightly attractive Luhan, he had the ground.

“Minnie, what is it?” Luhan said moving his hand to rest underneath Minseok’s chin, and raising Minseok’s head so he would look at him. Minseok gasped and took a step backwards, making Luhan’s hand fall, brushing Minseok’s chest on the way down. Minseok’s heart began beating out of control and he could feel his face turn red. He opened his mouth to speak, but he found himself gasping for air as he had forgotten to breath.

“Minnie?” Luhan said again, pulling his hand back quickly as if he had just hurt a child.

“I… I told you not to call me that” Minseok said, finding his voice. It cracked a bit during the middle of the sentence, but he still managed to say something.

“Oh, yeah” Luhan said, his smile had now disappeared, and instead was replaced by a concerned frown. “Sorry” Luhan said and walked forwards towards Minseok.

“Don’t” Minseok said and pushed out his arm to stop Luhan from walking closer. “Don’t come near me” he said and heard his voice shake. His heart burned and all he wanted was for Luhan to take him in his arms and tell him everything would be fine. But Luhan wouldn’t do that, and even if he did Minseok wouldn’t be such a fool as to let him play with his heart again.

With Luhan came pain, and Minseok didn’t want that.

“Minseok, you’re crying” Luhan said and reached into his pocket to find a tissue or something. He pulled out a new packet and handed them to Minseok, but he refused to take one and turned around so Luhan couldn’t see his face.

He didn’t want Luhan to see how weak he was, no, he was supposed to be strong, a new man. He would not be made to cry by someone like Luhan.

“I still know you’re crying” Luhan said sighing and stuffed the tissues back into his pocket.

“I don’t care” Minseok sniffled

“Look, I’m sorry for what I did, but I can’t go back in time to undo my crime. I just want you to forgive me” Luhan said pulling Minseok’s shoulder back so Minseok would face him again. He moved his hand to rest on Minseok’s cheek and tried to wipe his tears away, but Minseok pushed him away once again.

“I’m never going to forgive an like you” Minseok said obnoxiously, and looked Luhan up and down and made a disgusted face.

“Well, you’ll have to try, because I’m not going to leave you alone until you do” Luhan said smiling again, covering up his hurt feelings at Minseok’s words. If Minseok was upset, then Luhan would have to be happy enough for both of them.

“Whatever” Minseok said looking away again. “I’m sure you’ll get bored of me once again” he said trying to be strong and wiping away his tears. He felt slightly better after his outburst, but he would never, ever forgive Luhan, not even if Luhan apologized a million times.

“Well, we should go inside now, there’s someone who needs to talk to you” Luhan said grabbing Minseok’s hand and almost pulling him along.

They passed the security and walked into the huge building. Minseok felt tiny as they entered.

They then walked into another room off to the side as Luhan continued to drag the smaller boy around and then up a flight of stairs, and finally into a smaller conference room. Minseok hesitated and Luhan offered him a seat, but he sat down slowly and looked at the table. Concentrating on a speck of dust rather than the other people in the room. He heard Luhan take a seat, and was annoyed that he was in the chair right next to his. The least he could do was sit a couple of chairs down. There was a single, large table in the middle of a brightly lit room, there was dozens of perfectly good chairs in the room.

He had thought they had been alone, but then someone spoke, asking Minseok to look up. He recognised the voice and his body tensed. It was their manager.

“Minseok, has Luhan told you why you were asked to come here today?” the manager asked and Minseok looked up quickly and shook his head, he couldn’t find his voice as he was in shock from hearing such a familiar sound after all this time.

“Well, then I will.” He said smiling, his white teeth shining in the bright room. “We have been looking for you for a long time, I know why you left. But now, we need you to come back”

Minseok opened his mouth and shook his head violently “No” he yelled and the manager jumped looking startled.

“Your contract is still active, technically you never left the group you were just on temporary leave and an inactive member”

Minseok bit his lip and slumped down in his chair. “Then terminate the contract” He said bravely and waited for his reply. He had forgotten about the contract he signed with the company, instead he had just arranged for his departure from the building, thinking he would no longer be part of the group any more.

“Ah, we had thought about that, but we don’t want a lawsuit as EXO have just started their new tour. It would interfere with plans” The manager looked at Minseok and smiled weakly, he was trying his best to help the small boy. In fact, when Minseok left, knowing he would not come back he had requested for the contract to be terminated, but the request was declined by the CEO, and he was told instead to wait for Minseok to come back, or for the contract to run out.

“Why would there be a lawsuit” Luhan asked and put his hand on Minseok’s knee for reassurance

“Because SM can’t afford to lose him, he was an amazing performer”

“Well, how long until the contract runs out” Minseok said moving the chair away from Luhan, making the floor squeak as he did so. Luhan’s hand falling once again

“That is why I needed you to come urgently, it only has a week before it becomes inactive” The manager looked from Minseok to Luhan and realising how uncomfortable they both looked he nodded his head, agreeing with their facial expressions. “Although, I see now that Minseok may not be fit to perform”

Minseok gasped and looked up at the manager’s smiling face, he found it hard to breathe as he realised what the manager was doing. The middle aged man was helping him.

“In fact, since the contract runs out so soon, maybe he can be permanently inactive” He grinned at Minseok’s reaction and stood up.

Minseok, without knowing, began to smile. He stood up quickly and bowed to the manager.

“I just want to do what is best for you Minseok. Even if it means SM loses you” He walked forward to shake Minseok’s hand and then turned to Luhan. “Look after him Luhan, make sure you remember how you two were before you had the argument” Luhan nodded and bowed to the manager as well.

“t…thank you sir” Minseok said and bowed once again, lower than before. It was odd, to have someone be on his side, odd to remember what it was like for someone to be nice to him.

“Luhan, take Minseok out now”

Luhan nodded again and stood up, out of his chair and walked towards Minseok.

“I can manage” he said almost smiling at Luhan, but then realising who Luhan was. He stood up and pushed past the younger boy and walked out of the door.

Luhan laughed awkwardly and followed him

Minseok found himself at the stairs and looked down, he could hear footsteps coming up, and they were close.

He was about to turn around and hide when he felt Luhan walk up beside him. “Don’t run off like that, the building’s changed since you were last here, you might get lost” he said moving close to Minseok and almost whispering it into his ear. Minseok could feel the hot breath on his neck and he shivered, he wanted to punch Luhan, but he decided not to.

“Whatever” Minseok whispered and he could hear the footsteps getting louder and closer. He swallowed and tried to pull his hood up, but realised he wasn’t wearing his hoodie.

“Here” Luhan said, offering him a hat to wear. “I know how you like to be unnoticed, and I saw what you wear wearing and thought you might need this if you want to hide” He was still too close to Minseok’s ear and Minseok was feeling violated.

“Stop it” He said pushing Luhan away “don’t try to act nice” He spat and began to turn towards Luhan but then he realised the footsteps had stopped. He looked up at Luhan and saw him cover his mouth and stare at something behind Minseok.

“Wow, the little bun has found his voice after all this time. But he is still so weak”

Minseok turned around again slowly and saw who was standing next to him. He should have recognized the voice, but he had trying to block out many things from his memories, this man’s voice must have been one he was successful with.

“Sehun leave him alone” Luhan said and walked up to the young. Blonde boy.

“Why? He deserves even the worst insults after what he did” Sehun laughed and then turned to Minseok staring down at him. “Oh no, it looks like the little bun is going to cry”

Minseok looked down and he could feel tears well up in his eyes. He had forgotten about Sehun, and how mean he could be. At that café he was just a familiar face, but now Minseok remembered everything. Sehun had mocked Minseok for almost any reason he could think of. First it was being short, then it was being older, then it was being slightly chubbier than the other trainees. The last thing Sehun had mocked Minseok for was his love for Luhan.

He had pushed Minseok into a corner when Luhan had been upset because Minseok wouldn’t tell the manager about their relationship. “Don’t ever touch my Lulu again you ” Sehun had said “He doesn’t want you” he had spat out and pulled a bracelet Minseok was wearing off his wrist, breaking it in the process. The last thing he had said was…. “Why don’t you just leave”

As Minseok’s memories came back to him he began to cry harder and harder until he was almost sobbing as the tears fell quickly onto his shirt making dark, wet patches on the cotton. He wanted to punch Sehun, wipe that smirk off his grumpy little face. But he didn’t have enough strength, he just wanted to die now.

He opened his mouth to say something, but only gasps and sobs came out. It took all of his strength to move, but slowly his wiped his tears away and began to run down the stairs, pushing past sehun and making him fall against the wall.

“What the hell Sehun” Luhan yelled and ran after Minseok

When Minseok reached the bottom of the stairs he sprinted through the reception and out onto the street, he didn’t care who saw him, and he then continued running, ignoring the sound of the door opening after him and hurried footsteps.

“I hate you” he whimpered as he ran. He didn’t know who he was telling that to, Sehun, Luhan or… himself for being so weak.

“Minseok stop!” Luhan yelled and Minseok stopped and turned around

“What do you want? To tell me how stupid I am and to yell insults at me? I don’t need that Luhan, I don’t need you” He screamed, making passers-by stop and stare

“No, I’m going to do this” he said and walked quickly forward and grabbed Minseok, pulling him into a hug.

“Don’t touch me” Minseok gasped and began struggling trying to break free from Luhan’s grip.

And old woman with huge glasses stopped and yelled at Luhan to “let the poor boy go” or she would call for help.

Luhan sighed and released Minseok, and let him run off down the street without calling after him. He looked at his hands and then held them close to his heart “Maybe next time Kim Minseok, maybe next time”

Thanks author-nim..
I can see that Luhan is like Minseok's personal hell here, only problem is he still loves him right? I wonder about Luhan though, his intentions seems a little fussy to me.
