Chapter 11

My new next door Neighbour!

Chapter 11

"Jessie!" Tiffany complained, "Your silence is killing me! What is wrong with you?"

I ignored her and pretended to look for something in my bag. "What happened?" She demanded. I still didn't reply.

"Jess?" I shook my head. She sighed and let it go. She parked the car in her usual spot, and we walked into the school.

"Tell me," Tiffany said, "I want you to feel better. I hate to see you so...depressed. What happened at the babysitting job, Jess?"

"It's nothing."

"Did he do anything to you? I swear, if he..."

"No, its fine."

"You don't look fine."

I turned to face her. "You're not going to leave me alone, are you?"

"No, of course not. You look too sad."

"Okay, fine." I kept my eyes on my locker as I put in my combination, "He kissed me."

"OHMYGOD!" Tiffany squealed, "You....He....OMG!"

"And why do you sound so happy?"

"Why don't you sound happy?"

"Because he kissed me!" She was totally not getting the point.

"So?" Tiffany asked. See?

"You know what, just forget it." I started walking away.

"Hey, hey, hey," she caught up with me, "Fine, we'll talk about this later. Just wanted to remind you that I signed you up for this dance lesson."

I stopped. "Remind? Dance lesson?"

"Oops," she said innocently and smiled. "Did I forget to tell you? Anyway, yeah, you'll be busy every Thursday from now on."

"Why, Tiff, why? Seriously?"

"You'll understand later. Remember, I'm doing all of this for you, and you'll be grateful to me," she handed me something looked like a map. "Have fun!"

I stared after her. I did not understand Tiffany at all.

I tried to avoid Sehun, which wasn't that easy since he was in all of my classes. I saw him talking to Yoona after second period.

Kai met up with me again.

"Hey," he greeted.

"Hey. Okay, since every time you tried to tell me what you want, it backfires, so tell me right now! And get to the point quickly please?"

He hesitated for a second. I shot him a look that said "Well?"

"I wanted to ask Tiffany to the Spring Fest," he mumbled, probably hoping I couldn't hear it. It took all my will power to not start screaming.

"Then ask her!"

"I don't know..." he hesitated.

"Go," I started pushing him, eventhough I had absolutely no idea where Tiffany was, "She will say yes!"

"How do you know?"

I was about to tell Kai that she had a crush on him, but then decided against it. He could find out himself.

"Trust me on this one."

He turned around to face me, "Thanks."

"No problem," I watch him walk to Tiffany, who was far away down the hall, at her locker.

Well, at least someone's love life is going really well.

"I saw you talked to Sehun," I said innocently to Yoona, when we paired up to work on our project again.

"Yeah," she replied simply. "And?"

Yoona gave me a funny face. "He's really nice."

I knew she knew what I was asking her. "Nevermind." I shook my head and felt my cheeks flush.

After a few minutes of silence, Yoona said, "Oh yeah! I almost forgot." She took a folded paper out of her pocket and handed it to me, "From Sehun."

I took it and stared at it.

"What does it say?" I asked her.

"I don't know," she shrugged, "I didn't look at it."

Did I really want to open it? Yoona gave me another weird look, but I didn't say anything.

I held my breath as I opened it, hoping it wasn't something too awkward.

Jessica,

We have our counsellor meeting today at lunch. Don't forget.

"Oh," I said.

"You sound dissapointed," Yoona commented.

"I'm not," I shook my head. I wasn't dissapointed. Of course not.

After the 5th period, I made my way to the counsellor's office. Sehun was already there, sitting on one of the comfy sofa chairs they had.

"Jessica," the counsellor greeted. I took the other seat. Sehun didn't even glance at me.

"So, how are you two doing so far?" she asked.

We didn't say anything, probably thinking the other one would talk. The counsellor looked at Sehun, then at me, then back at him, waiting for someone to answer.

"We're doing fine," Sehun finally said.

"That's great!" she replied, probably just happy someone actually said something.

"Did you guys earn any money yet?" The first thing that came into my head was the babysitting job, followed quickly by the kiss. I wish she'd never asked that question.

"Yeah," Sehun replied, like nothing happened. I felt a little angry. Then he looked at me for the first time since we've arrived.

"The form?" I took it out of my pocket and handed it to the counsellor.

"Great, great, great!" she repeated as she looked through what I had completed. "How did the babysitting job go?" she looked up at me, expecting me to answer. Sehun was silently watching me, waiting for my answer too.

"It was..." suddenly, the word I wanted to say slipped out of my mind. I glanced frantically around the room. On one of the posters, I saw the word, atypical.

"It was, uh, atypical." I said. What the heck did atypical mean?

I saw the counsellor raise and eyebrow, "Oh, really?"

She jotted down something in her notes. I glanced at Sehun and he stared back at me, emotionless.

We talked for a few more minutes, or rather, Sehun and the counsellor talked for a few more minutes. I just stayed in my seat, staring at the posters. I read the words written on it so many times, I could probably recite all of them.

Finally, the counsellor said, "Great job. You two are probably the most advanced so far in this project."

I followed Sehun out of the room. The hallway were dead silent. I stared at the floor as we made our way into the cafeteria.

"Jessie!" Tiffany screamed from across the room. I started walking to her and then turned around to see Sehun disappear into the crowds of people. I sat down next to Tiffany and she handed me half of her sandwhich.

"How did it go?" Yoona asked.

"It was boring." Thankfully, no one pressed for more details.

"Oh my god, did I tell you Kai asked me to the Spring Fest?" Tiffany looked so excited.

"She's been telling that to everyone she sees since the 4th period," Yoona said. "I know," I smiled, "I'm so happy for you."

"I can't believe it!" she grinned like an idiot again.

Yoona was looking at someone behind me. I saw her nod.

"Excuse us for a moment," she said as she stood up. She motioned for Tiffany to follow her. I turned around to see where they were going.

I watched them follow Sehun out the door. What were they doing with him?
