I hardly slept last night...I kept thinking how my life just doesn't give me a break. I'm either bullied or something worse happens...Like your friend diagnosed with an life ending disease...

We were all sitting in the class,waiting for our korean teacher to arrive.

Jin didn't come to class today.

And it was weird,how no one in the class said anything. Everyone in this class was a part of gang or my friends. Everyone was usually noisy,but not today.

It was dead quiet. I looked at my friends who looked really absent minded.

I told them about Jin. And,I guess everyone else heard me too.

 

"Eun Mi..." Hyo Jung said " Isn't Jin coming?"

I shrugged my shoulders

"I don't know..."

"Eun Mi,did you see Tao at the hospital yesterday?" Xiu Min asked

"No...Why? Was he there?" I asked and Xiu Min looked at his friends

"Yeah...He didn't come back yesterday...So..." Luhan answered. I sighed

"I didn't see him...So,maybe he went there after I left..."

The classroom door opened and sleepy Tao walked in.

"Yah! Where were you?!" Xiu Min yelled

"I fell asleep in the hospital room's chair..." Tao said,half awake. He sat down at his place and sighed loudly

"Did something happen?" Chen asked

"Nothing really..."

"So,she's ok then...?" Kai asked curiously.

"Yeah.She told me she had stress and fatique...Just like you said Kai." Tao smiled at his friends,who looked at me,worriedly and angrily. I shook my head,telling them it's best for Tao not to know yet either.

The teacher finally came in and the class started.

I looked at Hyo Jung who didn't pay any attention to the class what so ever. She was just staring at her table.

She said something to Il Sung and he nodded slowly. Hyo Jung said something to him again and he nodded yet again. Then they both sighed and Il Sung leaned his head on his table and fell asleep.

 

The lesson was halfway through when someone knocked on the door again.Jin entered apologizing for being late and she gave the teacher a note. She read it through and looked at Jin.

"I understand...Stay strong..." The teacher said and Jin smiled brightly.

"Ne~~" Jin said happily. She looked at her seat which was right at the back of the room. She sighed quickly before she walked to her seat carefully.The teacher kept staring at her for a long time.

"Bae-ssi...?" The teacher said

"Hm?" Jin responded

"Can you still see?"

I wanted to hit the teacher in the middle of her face.

"Yes,it's just stress so..."

"Yes,but you might not see well from so far away..." The teacher had a face of pity on her. Hyo Jung slammed her desk with her hands and got up angrily

"What are you trying to say?" Hyo Jung asked

"Excuse me?" The teacher scoffed

"Are you saying she's disabled all of a sudden?" Hyo Jung yelled

"Well,she was at the hospital and she collapsed...So,there must be something wrong with her legs..." The teacher said,smirking.

"Woaaah~~I didn't know our school is only filled with stupid,irrogant and just ugly scum teachers..." Hyo Jung stated,with angry eyes.The teacher's eyes widened in shock.After a while,the teacher scoffed

"I pity this class and Lee Il Sung especially...It must be horrible to date this girl and have her as your class president..." The teacher said and that's when I had enough.

I stood up and kicked my desk. I glared at the teacher who looked at me scared

"Huh? Sorry,I didn't hear you...So..Could you repeat it?" I said as I leaned my head to the side,pouting my lips "Did you just say that to my friend? Tsk...Do you know her personally?" I asked and the teacher shook her head

"Oh? So you don't know her...Oh..Ok...So...Why did you say it then?" I said,gritting my teeth

"Because it's true---"

I threw my bag at her.

"Yah...I just basically gave you an opportunity to take your words back...But I guess you're just too stupid to take a hint..." I stated while glaring at her

"Excuse me?"

"Who the gave you this job? Who are you to judge people? Huh? You're not better than us..." I scoffed

"Choi Eun Mi.I'm warning you...You are new here and I don't need to see that kind of an attitude,missy."

I scoffed

"Missy?" I chuckled "I'm far away from being a miss,lady.Don't try me..." I threatened

"Eun Eun...It's ok.." Hyo Jung said with teary eyes

"Are you crying?" I asked as I looked at Hyo Jung who sniffed and shooked her head.Il Sung made her sit down and he hugged her

"Wow...You made her cry too..." I said. I sighed loudly and glared at the teacher

"Apologize."

"Excuse me? I don't need to apologize to a student."

"Apologize." I repeated

"No."

"Lady,this is the last warning...Apologize."

"Choi Eun Mi.I'm warning you for the last time. If you yell,curse or threaten me once more,you'll be expelled

"THEN DO IT.I DON'T CARE."

"Yah,calm down!" Jr said as he came between me and the teacher

"Don't interviene! Move!" I yelled at Jr who glared at me

"Calm down..." Jr said "Don't let stupid people get to you..." 

 

"What's your problem? Sit down! This has nothing to do with you!" I yelled at Jr who squinted his eyes at me

"You know,the teacher might have her own problems too,so stop yelling at her!" Jr yelled back. I raised my eye brow at him.

"Look...Take your teacher crushes else where! And don't interrupt me defending my friends!" I yelled

"I don't like her either,but calm down..." Jr said and I sighed annoyedly

"Go and sit down.Leave me alone." I said as I turned back to the teacher

"When you were assaulted,did you lose your heart at the same time?" Jr asked.My eyes widened and I froze.

I backed away from him as the memories of that day flooded in to my mind. I couldn't look at anyone anymore as I tried to hold my tears back

"N-no...That's not what I mean...It's just been a bad week for me..." Jr said,regretting his words. I shook my head.

"I better go." I said as I took my bag and exited the class. I bumped in to Nara who looked confused

"Where are you going?" She asked me,but I couldn't answer.Instead I just walked away.

Nara looked after you,raising her eye brow. She soon shrugged her shoulders and entered an awkward classroom that you just left

"Uhhh...Did I interrupt something?" Nara asked. She noticed Jin was talking to Jr in a corner angrily,but she stopped as soon as she noticed Nara

"Ah..Unnie!" Jin yelled happily "What's brigs you here to our humble class room?"

"You're acting weird..." Nara commented and Jin chuckled

"Sorry..." Jin mumbled

"Anyways...Jr-ah...Come here for a second..."Nara said

"Huh? Why? Why should I come with you?" Jr asked

"Tch...You want me to say it here or will you follow me nicely..."

"Say it here."

"Fine.Do you have a brother named Sungjong?"

"Why?"

"You want me to say here?"

"Cut the crap and say it already."

"He's at the Seoul Hospital."

"Huh?" Jr expression slowly became serious and then pale.

"Follow me..." Nara said as she opened the door,ready to leave

"You're lying..My brother is at the States..."

"He isn't anymore..." Nara said

"T-then...What's wrong with him?" Jr asked carefully,clenching his knuckles. 

Nara didn't respond.She just stared at Jr and sighed

"Let's go." Nara said as she was ready to step out the door

"WHAT THE IS WRONG WITH HIM?!" Jr yelled

"SCA." Nara said,making Jr confused

"What?" Jr asked with a confused face

"Spinocerebellar Ataxia." Jin said,making her friends shocked.

"Huh?" Jr questioned Jin. He wasn't listening to you when you told your friends about Jin's diagnose,so he was unaware about everything.

"...Usually it is first noticed with the legs, as an increasing difficulty in walking.Gradually,person will lose the capability to walk,talk and eat.No cure has been found yet..." Jin said,smiling weakly. Nara looked at Han Bi who nodded her head towards Nara,meaning that Jin knew. She knew.

"Jr-ah...Go meet your brother..." Nara said without looking at anyone "The doctors called my number since they thought we were close friends...Anyway.Go." Nara said as she exited the class room.

Jr stood there for a while,trying to comprehend what happened.Jin grabbed Jr's arm and dragged him out the class room.

They walked all the way to the football yard and Jin let go of Jr's hand.

"It's ok.It's ok to shout and cry and let out your feelings...I won't judge you..." Jin said,tearing up but laughing at the same time.

"Looks like you need to do that more than I do." Jr said,while laughing.

"I already did..."

"I don't need to...I really haven't seen my brother for so long and I was always too busy to notice him...Or to care about him so much that I'd cry my eyes out." Jr said as he lied down on the ground,covering his eyes from the sun.

"You should go and meet him."

"I'd rather not."

Jin pouted and sat down next to Jr.

"Can I ask you something,Jr-ssi?"

"Mmh.."

"If you don't care about your brother,then why...When Hyorin always brings him up,you...freeze..." Jin asked,looking at the bright sunny sky.

"We made a deal..." Jr started "About my brother..."

"And....?"

"She promised not to hurt him,If I'd do something she wants to."

"And that is...?"

"You know Dasom?" Jr asked as he sat up again. Jin nodded and Jr sighed

"I have to date her..."

"Eeeeeeeh---?" Jin asked with a disgusted face. Jr laughed.

"I know right...I hate Dasom...She's acting like...Uggh..." Jr shivered

"Too cute?"

"Yeah.I mean,take Shorty for example.She is a natural cutie and she sometimes does it on purpose,but it doesn't make you want to puke..." Jr said and Jin laughed

"I guess you're right..."

"Yeah...So...I do care about my brother enough,that I wouldn't want him to get hurt..."

"But this disease..."

"Yeah?"

"It's uncurable..."

Jr stared at Jin who smiled weakly at the ground. She tugged the grassy field and played with it.

"Why do you look so sad about it?"

"I know....personally..What it feels like..I guess..." Jin chuckled

"So...You...Have it..." Jr asked carefully

Jin nodded fastly until her tears came out.

"I...Don't want to die..." Jin said as she started to punch the ground "I wanted to become an olympic athlete...And then donate money for hospitals and..." Jin sniffed "I wanted to start a family...Watch my kids grow...Die together with my husband...." Jin sniffed again "But I can't do that...I won't be here anymore..."

Jr looked at his class mate closely.He didn't know what to say. He already said something bad to you so he didn't wan't to hurt anyone else anymore.He just patted Jin's head that was now resting on her knees.

"It's ok..." Jr said and Jin nodded

"Right...And you..." Jin wiped her tears and snot away "..Should go and see your brother with me..."

"With you?"

"I have to stay there forever soon anyway,so...Might as well get used to it..." Jin laughed

"I'll---Think about it..."

"Good.Want to go and eat?" Jin said after her stomach growled

"Nah...I can pay you though..."

"Eeh? Why?"

"As a thank you... And I need to find that idiot and..." Jr sighed as he scratched the back of his head

"Apologize?" Jin helped

"Yeah...I have never apologized to anyone before..." Jr shook his head as he couldn't believe it

"Hmm...Just say 'I'm sorry...I didn't mean it..'..That should be a good start..."Jin said and Jr nodded

"Thanks..Uh..."

"Jin..."

"Right...Sorry,I'm kinda bad at remembering new faces..."

"Me too!" Jin said happily

"That's not something to be happy about...." Jr smiled and Jin smiled back

"Anyway...Here's some money..." Jr offered but Jin refused

"I have my own..." Jin nodded and Jr nodded back

"Where are you going?" Jin asked as Jr started to walk away

"I'm gonna go and find that idiot...See ya..." 

Jin watched as Jr disappeared after the gates behind the corner.

Jin wondered where she should go next.

The teacher ended the class early and she left to complain about what happened.

Hyo Jung walked to Han Bi,who was still in shock about what Jin said

"She knew." Hyo Jung said and Han Bi nodded

"Yes...I don't know how but--She knows..."

"What now?"

"We need to talk to her...This...Isn't exactly a small matter...."

"She looked...Sad..."

"Well...The way she described the disease...It must be hard..." Han Bi sighed as she hid her face in her hands.

"Eun Mi too...And Jr...Uhh...This week has been so..." Hyo Jung tried to find the right word

"Emotional?" Han Bi continued

"Yeah..Bingo.."

 

"Han Bi-ssi...Hyo Jung-ssi..." 

The two girls found a confused,yet shocked looking Huang Zitao next to them

"What...Are you talking about...?" Tao asked carefully

"You didn't know?" Hyo Jung pouted "Even though you were at the hospital all day yesterday?"

"She...She said she had stress and fatique..."

"Well...It's not..." Il Sung said,who was leaning on his girlfriend's head "It's a disease...A bad one..No cure..No nothing..."

"Sunggie!" Hyo Jung yelled "Say it more delicately!"

"What for? Why beat around the bush? Just say what's up..." Il Sung said 

"Tao-ssi...Jin might...In the end..." Han Bi couldn't continue her sentence. Tao's eyes widened and he looked away quickly,trying to make himself calm down.

"In the end what?" Tao asked

"She might die..." Nara's voice said behind them. She looked serious yet sad

"You're lying..." Tao chuckled. Nara grabbed Tao's collar and pressed him against the wall.

"You think I'm ing joking around on people's deaths like Hyorin?! Especially,when it's one of my friends?! Huh?!" Nara yelled.

"You must be..." Tao laughed as a tear rolled down his cheek. Nara got teary eyed. 

"Well,kiddo...I'm not....Ok?" Nara said,trying to hold back her tears "I'm not."

"Nara..." Hyo Jung said,making Nara back away and sit on a desk.

"For now...Let's just...Support her...And cry after she's gone..." Nara said as she stared at the floor

"She wont be..." Tao insisted

"What part don't you understand Huang Zitao?! She will die! Ok?" Nara yelled at Tao who hid his face with his bandana.

"Nara...Relax..." Xiu Min said and Nara sighed

"I'm done...I'm so done with everyone..." Nara said as she exited the room.

"Tao..." Lay approached Tao slowly,but his hand got slapped away by him.

The class watched Tao as he left the room,angrily.

"Aish...My week is ruined now...I can't sleep anymore..." Il Sung joked,but instead,he got cold looks from everyone.

"Kim Sungjong"

Jin knocked on the door and found a boy playing a football game on his X-Box 360.He looked fine. The boy paused the game and looked at the visitor.

"H-hi...My name is Jin Bae...I..We have the same disease...So...I wanted to have a friend here...And I came to say hello to you..." Jin stuttered but she smiled brightly. The boy smiled back brightly as well.

"Ni-ce to me-et yo-u noo-na..." The boy talked slowly. Jin stopped to look around the room. TV,X-Box,games,a weelchair and a flower pot,that looked to have strawberries planted in it.

"Same here...Um..."

"My na-me is---Su--Sung-jong..." Sungjong said slowly.

"Nice to meet you...Can I call you Jonggie?"

The boy smiled and nodded

"So...What are you playing?"

"I-It's cal-led---" Sungjong started to cough put he then smiled quickly not to worry Jin

"Fi-fa--"

"Oh...I think I have played it..." Jin commented and Sungjong smiled

"W-would yo-u li-ke so-me-thi-ng to dri-nk?"

"No...I'm fine.."

"So---Wh-en was noo-na's di-se-a-se dis-co-ve-red?"

"Yesterday...How about you...?"

"Co-couple---of mon-ths ago..."

Jin stared at the boy who smiled brightly at her.

"Wh-what's wro-ng,noo-na?"

"Why...No...How can you smile so brightly?"

The boy looked away at his strawberries that weren't grown yet

"We all die at one po-int..."

Jin started to get teary eyed again

"But...I don't want to die...Not yet..." Jin complained and Sungjong held her hands

"Noo-na...We can me-meet in Hea-ven af-ter we die...And be fri-end..-friends...th-ere---" Sungjong said as he smiled yet again. Jin sniffed and smiled after

"You consider me as a friend already?" Jin asked,smiling brighter than the Sun.

"Yes.Don't you?" Sungjong asked and Jin nodded happily

"About those strawberries..."

"I have been try-ing to ma-ke th-em gr-ow but...Th-ey won't bot-her---"

"I'm sure they'll grow soon...I mean,it's autumn and it's not their growing season but..." Jin walked to the strawberry pot

"You better grow so Jonggie can eat you!"

Sungjong laughed,though he immediately coughed.

"Noo-na is so fun-ny!"

"I know,I know..." Jin joked

 

Jin and Sungjong talked for hours and hours.They bonded quickly and they even played X-Box together. Jin forgot all her worries until suddenly she remembered her grandma.

"Oh!" Jin yelled

"What is it?"

"My grandma must be worried about me...I haven't seen her for days and she doesn't know where I am..."

"You bet--better call her..."

"Yeah...I'll be right back!"

"Ok!"

"Hello?"

"Hi grandma! It's me,Jin! Sorry my phone got kinda...destroyed and I couldn't call you and I'm calling from a pay phone...You must have been worried..."

"Jin? The daughter of that ungrateful daughter-in-law?"

"Huh?"

"I don't need your useless breathing body in my house anymore...All you did was tumble all over.No man even wants you...No doctor nor a lawyer.No.Not a stupid girl like you..."

"Grandma...What's wrong? You aren't usually like this..."

"This is the real me.I hated to bring you up since your stupid mother convinced your father to kill himself with her..."

"What?" Jin voice began to tremble

"You heard me! And I don't want to see your ugly face ever again! I don't care if  my ex-daughter-in-laws daughter dies.Goodbye."

Jin placed the pay phone back on it's place and kept staring at it.

"Aish..." She sighed and pouted like a duck

"Where am I going to live now...? Oh yeah...Here..." Jin chuckled but she soon became serious.

"No one seems to like me anymore..."

 

Jin smiled at a family passing by. The father was holding on to a new born baby and the mother was walking hand in hand with their other child.They looked happy.

"Noo-na..."

Jin turned around to find Sungjong with crutches.

"Did you call---yo-your gran--grandma?"

"Yes.She said that she's happy to find out that I'm ok..."

"Goo--Good to hear..."

"Yeah...Jonggie,want to go to the beach?"

"B-beach?"

"Yeah...Just to...sit down and...relax..."

"O-oh---I won--wonder if I can go..." Sungjong wondered

"Don't worry! I'll take care of you!"

"Ok...I just---n-need to get my wheel---chair..."

"I'll get it...Wait here.."

"Ok..."

Jin went back to Sungjong's room to get the wheelchair.She noticed a diary looking notebook that was left open on his nightstand.She walked closer to it,curiously

Day 1

The doctors told me to keep a diary about my doings from now on.I don't know why but why not? 

I haven't kept a diary before...It's more of a girls thing to do..Right?

I was rushed to the hospital after I fell down.

Something about me not  falling hands first,ant that I fell down my head first.

I can't explain why but...

It just happened...

Well,it's nothing serious so...

I really want to grow strawberries...

My brother hates them but...

I want to give them to him.

Jonghyun hyung is the person I admire the most so...

Even though he won't eat them nor like them,I want him to give it to a girl he likes.

After two weeks,they finally told me what was wrong with me.

Why?

The strawberries still haven't grown at all

I can't seem to tell the distance between the object and my hand

It's weird how this disease is yet scary and interesting at the same time

Today

A pretty noona came to my room

So I got to be there for her

And maybe she'll depend on me

I walked to Jr's house first. I rang the door bell and a maid stepped out

"Yes?" She said

"Uh...Is Jr--I mean...Jonghyun-ssi here?"

"No,I'm afraid he is out..."

"Do you know where he might be?"

"Who is there?!" A man's voice yelled from inside

"A guest sir,asking for Lord Jonghyun..." The maid responded

The man stepped next to the maid,pushing her away. I recognized him as the teacher that pressed his nails in my neck.And he seemed to recognize me too.

I took a step back

"Well well well...Look who's here...Jonghyun's new ..."

"Excuse me?" I asked and he chuckled

"What are you doing here,angel?" He asked in a monotone voice

"Nothing I just..Sorry...I'll leave now..."

I turned around and he grabbed my arm

"He's not here...But I can help you..."

"Let go.."

"LET GO." I raised my voice and glared at him. I just got a smirk in response as he dragged me inside their house. 

I tried to get away from his grip,but he was too strong

"LET GO!!" I yelled.

He smirked as he pushed me against a wall

"Your precious 'Jr' isn't here to save you...What are you going to do?"

"I can handle you myself..."

"Really now? It has gone well so far..." He said sarcastically

"I swear...If you touch me...You're dead meat..."

He scoffed

"Really? What are you planning on doing? Beating me up?"

Suddenly,he was on the ground,unconscious.

I sighed loudly in relief

"Took you long enough..."

"Yeah,well,I didn't know you'd be here..."

"I need a house..."

"I need my space too...And that douchebag right there..." Jr pointed at his unconscious uncle "Gives me my space..."

"Right..."

A moment of silence passed by. I looked at Jr who struggeled to find words to say

"Look..." He started "I'm so----"

"Yeah...About earlier..."

"It's ok...You have hard time yourself...So...I forgive you..."

"Ha-ha...Very funny..."

"I heard about your brother..."
