Chapter 3 - Another Surprise
" Kyu's the only one who says my full name.
Not anymore..."
"Hi Yoona!" the guy greeted with a bright smile.
"Oh, hi Changmin," Yoona greeted back.
"Big brother? What are you doing here? I thought you're not coming?" Sooyoung asked Changmin.
"I wanted to surprise the birthday girl. Happy birthday Yoona. Here's a little gift," Changmin handed out a small box.
Yoona opened the box and saw a silver bracelet with Yoona's initials on it.
"Wow! It's so cute! Thank you Changmin!" she thanked him.
Kyu felt the same weird feeling as Yoona felt earlier. He can't stand to look at both of them together. He thought to himself, "What if..."
"Aww! It's pretty alright! I wish Kyu would give me a gift like that," Jiyeon said.
Kyu just stayed silent. After a few seconds of silence, he said,
"Let's go."
The gang arrived at the hill with an old oak tree perched at the top. A picnic table was prepared with foods and drinks.
"Tadah!" Yuri said out loud.
"Wow! You preapred this?" Yoona asked.
"I had a little help from the others," Yuri said, acting humbly.
"Thank you very much guys!" Yoona thanked her friends.
" Come on! Let's eat!" Sungmin and Donghae said together.
After eating their snack, Sooyoung, Yuri, Seohyun, and Jiyeon played volleyball. Donghae, Sungmin, and Changmin went to town to fetch Yoona's cake. Kyu and Yoona were the one's left at the table, sitting opposite each other.
"Happy birthday," Kyu coldly greeted her.
"Ahm, thanks," Yoona thanked and looked at him. Unfortunately, their eyes didn't met. Kyu was busy on his phone. Yoona just looked at the others playing volleyball.
Minutes passed but the two didn't talk to each other. Until...
"Tonight. 7:30. At the park. I'll be waiting." Kyu suddenly said.
"Wh---What?"
Kyu put his phone on his pocket and stood up.
"Remember what I said," he said then walked away.
"Hey Kyu! Wait up!" Jiyeon ran after her boyfriend.
"What's with him?" Yuri asked.
Yoona just looked at the two walk down the hill. She thought to herself,
"Was he serious?"
"Woo! I'm so full!",Sungmin said out loud.
"And earlier today you were saying my cooking . You little..." Yuri spancked him on the arm.
"Ouch! I was just joking!"
The others just laughed at them. Sooyoung said, "You two can be good couples, you know."
"NO WAY!" Yuri and Sungmin said simultaneously.
They just laughed at the two yelling at each other.
At the middle of the fun, Yoona remembered Kyu's statement:
"Tonight. 7:30. At the park. I'll be waiting."
She looked at her watch and it was still 3:30 pm. She thought it was still early and shrugged away the thought.
The gang didn't noticed that it was now late. The sun set and mr. moon is up in the sky. At the middle of their topic, Seohyun yawned.
"Yawwwn!"
"Seohyun is sleepy," Changmin stated.
"Oh! It's already so late! Let's call it a day," Donghae said.
"Yeah. I'm tired," Sooyoung exclaimed.
"Let's start cleaning up," Yuri requested.
After cleaning up the area and packing their things up, they all went down the hill. "Hey, Yoong. Who's going to walk you home?" Seohyun asked.
"Oh,it's okay. I can manage," Yoona insisted.
"I can walk her home," Changmin suggested.
"Our house is on the right. We'll be going now. Come on Seohyun,Hae," Sooyoung,Seohyun, and Donghae said goodbye.
"Ours in on the left. Come on hungry bear," Yuri dragged Sungmin.
"Bye you two!" Sungmin said goodbye.
"So,it's just you and me,huh," Changmin sighed.
Yoona didn't answer and continued to walk.
They walked in silence.To break the silence, Changmin spoke.
"Look at that. We did really enjoy ourselves out there. It's already 9:00 pm."
9:00pm...
Yoona remembered:
"Tonight. 7:30. At the park. I'll be waiting."
"Go on Changmin."
"Why? Where are you going?"
"I just forgot something. See you. Bye!" Yoona said and ran back.
She thought, "What the...How could I forget. He can't still be there. Or can he?"
She arrived at the park and looked around. At the bench in front of the fountain, sat a guy. She slowly approched the bench, hoping for the worse that Kyu's going to be mad at her for being too late.
"Kyu?"
Kyu faced her and suddenly held her in his arms. Yoona was stunned.
"I thought something bad happened to you."
"We didn't notice the time. Sorry."
"You should have texted or called me! I was so worried that I thought something bad happened to you on the way! I thought you got hit by a car! I thought you were kidnapped! I thought you were..."
"I am sorry."
Kyu exhaled.
"Nevermid." Kyu sat on the bench. Yoona sat beside him.
"I am so sorry for letting you wait this late."
"It's okay. At least you came safe."
Yoona noticed two papers on his hands. "What are those?", she asked.
He didn't respond. He grabbed her arm and said,
"Come on. Thanks to you,we're late for our 1st date."
"D-date!?"
