Chapter 18 -The Beginning of a New Day

A year or so, Kyu and Yoona lost their communication. Yoona never
heard anything about Kyu since.

4 years passed and still no communication. Even Hayoung had little
news about her brother.

Jiyeon and Changmin started to go out with each other. After a year after
their college graduation, they got married and went to the US to settle
down.
...
After all these years, Yoona was still patiently wating for Kyu.
"He promised me," she said as she was hugging the dog Kyu gave her.

Yuri and Sungmin started dating and after a few years, they eventually
got married.
Seohyun started dating Yonghwa, her admirer since high school.
Bomi, Chorong and Hayoung were recently enrolled in a university.

After 7 years after graduation, still no communication between Yoona
and Kyu.
Yuri and Sungmin had their first child who is now currently enrolled in
kindergarten. Since both are now working full time on their job, they had
little time to fetch their child. Being a good friend, Yoona insisted on
fetching their child whenever they're busy.
One day, Yuri called Yoona at work to say that she can't fetch their child
at school because they have a meeting. Yoona agreed to fetch the
child.
At school...
"Hi!" a little girl greeted her friend.
"Hello!" the little boy shyly replied.
"Did you got all the answers in our quiz today?" the little boy asked.
"Hmmm, I think so. I just hope I'll get a higher score than last time," the
little girl replied.
"Ahm... Would you like to go in our house? My Mom is very good in
baking cookies... Well I think she is... usually," the little boy said.
"I would love to! After all, you're my first friend when I transferred here
from the US," the little girl said with a sweet smile.
The little boy can't resist to get blushed when he sees her smiling.
"Okay class, we got two high scores in our quiz today. Congratulations,
Taemin and... Na Eun! Here's your papers, good work! And here's a
star for each of you to show your parents you did well today."
"Thank you teacher Hyoyeon!" Taemin and Na Eun said.
The bell rang signaling the school's over.
"Okay class, see you tomorrow! Be careful when you go home!"
"Goodbye teacher!"
Yoona was looking around the crowd of kids. Some were waiting for
their parents and guardians to fetch them while some kids were happily
showing their parents the stars they got for the day.
Then she saw the kid she was looking for.
"Taemin! Over here!"
"Aunt Yoong!"
"I'm going to take you home today, okay?"
"Okay! Look I got 5 stars!"
"Very good! You're Umma and Appa will love this!"
Then, a little girl approached them.
"Na Eun!"
"Hello Taemin! Congrats for having 5 stars today."
"You too.. By the way, this is my Aunt Yoong, Aunt Yoong this is my
friend, Na Eun."
"So you're little Na Eun. Taemin told me lots about you. Ahm, do you
have someone to fetch you? We can take you home."
"Thank you, Taemin's Auntie, but I have my... Oh he's here!" Na Eun
ran towards a man whom Yoona thought was her father. When she took
a closer look...
"It can't be..."
Na Eun dragged the man towards Yoona and Taemin and when the
man looked up, he was also surprised to see Yoona.
"Yoona!"
"Kyu..."
Taemin and Na Eun felt the awkwardness between the two.
"Do you know him Auntie?" Taemin asked.
"Auntie?" Kyu curiously asked.
"Ahm, this is Taemin, Yuri and Sugmin's son."
"Oh, so both ended up together then," Kyu said jokingly.
Yoona looked at Kyu in disgust. How can he be joking at a time like this!
He didn't communicated with her for all these years and he's here
looking so... cool? And now she saw him with a child? She waited for
him for so long and this was all she got? How dare he?! She wanted to
get angry and slap him hard but she contained herself.
"I see you have a child of your own," Yoona said with an irritating tone
on her voice.
"Come on Taemin we have to go."
"Wait! I'm sorry." Kyu apologized.
"Sorry? Sorry?!"
"I can explain. I was planning to surprise you but..."
"Well congratulations. You surprised me!" Tears started to flow on
Yoona's eyes.
"Auntie? Why are you crying?" Taemin innocently asked.
"I'm sorry. Auntie's not feeling well today."
"Do you have a fever? We should go to the hospital Auntie."
"You might be right, come on."
"Bye Na Eun! Bye Na Eun's Dad!"
"He's not my dad," Na Eun corrected.
Yoona looked at the liitle girl.
"He's my mom and dad's friend. He's Uncle Kyu."
"Uncle... Kyu...?"
