"There's me, isn't there?"
I Need You
Woohyun was standing at Sunggyu's doorstep, holding Eun-shil's hand tightly, as if he didn't want to let it go. Eun-shil was saying nothing as she stared down their hands, trying hard not to cry. Woohyun smiled faintly, looking up to her face and placed his hands on her face, holding it gently.
"You'll be fine here."
Eun-shil couldn't bring her gaze up. "Um."
"Eun-shil?" Woohyun looked at her sadly, caressing her cheeks a bit. "Are you okay?"
She nodded and before tears could escape her eyes, she looked up and smiled. "I'm okay."
Woohyun kissed her forehead for a long time, and Eun-shil closed her eyes tightly. When he released her, he caressed her cheeks again and looked into her eyes carefully. He knew well Eun-shil was on the verge of tears so he quickly patted her head and turned away.
"I'll be going now." He said, turning his head. "I'll come and visit tomorrow, okay?"
"Um..." She watched him walking away slowly, down the lawn towards the gate.
Woohyun-ah...
Eun-shil was looking at him longingly when he turned again, so suddenly and he ran up to Eun-shil and embraced her tightly. Eun-shil quickly hugged him back, with her tears soaking through his shirt. They said nothing as Eun-shil was sobbing faintly and Woohyun was her back.
Sunggyu turned his gaze away; after moments of watching them. He was standing in the living room, looking at them through the glass door. He scratched his cheek and went to Eun-shil's room, looking around to see if she needed anything else. He was just standing in the middle of the room, remembering the sight of Eun-shil being in Woohyun's embrace when Eun-shil called him from behind.
"Kim Sunggyu-sshi..." Her voice was quiet.
"Ah, Eun-shil. Has Woohyun gone home?"
"Um." She nodded and gave him a solemn smile.
Sunggyu watched her for a moment before patting her head. Eun-shil's face changed a bit as she was a bit surprised. "He could always come here and visit you."
Eun-shil blinked rapidly for a few seconds before smiling.
"Is the room okay?"
She nodded. "Everything's good."
"I never really used this room and the design is quite... Well." He scanned the room, deciding it might be too manly for Eun-shil.
"It's great." She smiled, looking at him. She then walked over to the windows. "And I could see the lawn from here too."
Sunggyu watched her dreamy face as she was looking outside the windows, with a weird feeling. He took a quick scan of the room before retreating to the door.
"Well, my room is just next to yours. So, if there's anything, just let me know, okay?"
"Okay." She smiled again and before Sunggyu closed the door, he took a peak at her face which turned blank; gazing outside the windows.
Eun-shil couldn't sleep at all that night. After dinner, she went straight to her room as Sunggyu too, retreated to his room. She spent the night just tossing and turning for hours and unknowingly, morning came. She got up from her bed and walked out of her room, into the living room. She stood near the glass door, looking at the sky. She watched as the sun was appearing, and tiny streaks of light appeared in the sky.
"Morning." Sunggyu appeared in his bed clothes after a while; yawning wide.
"Good morning." She looked down her feet, feeling unnatural.
"You're up early." He looked at her with his squinted eyes.
Eun-shil only smiled.
He yawned again. "Well... Are you hungry? Let's have breakfast together?"
"Okay." She said, smiling a bit.
"Well..." Sunggyu scratched his cheek. "I'll go and take a bath first..."
"Okay."
With that, Sunggyu left the living room awkwardly, not knowing what to feel to have a woman around the house at such early morning. He took a shower, and put on his clothes to go to work. He went into the living room again and was looking at his sister for a while. Eun-shil seemed to have taken a bath and she was wearing loose pants with white-shirt which hung loose on her. She wore a dark brown beanie, which she kept close down to her forehead. He called out for her and she turned to him, blinking.
"Um, breakfast." He said, and began to walk to the kitchen with Eun-shil trailing behind him.
However, once he sat down at the table, he scratched his head.
"Is toast and jelly's fine?" He asked, rather embarrassed.
She nodded.
Then, they were eating their breakfast in silence, with only Sunggyu asking how she was feeling and all. She answered his questions briefly, not allowing him to expand the topic. In the end, he got up from his chair, took all the dishes and put them in the sink. Eun-shil went over to the sink to wash them but Sunggyu stopped her.
"Mrs. Shim will take care of it." He said, drinking some plain water from the freezer.
Eun-shil couldn't say anything as she stood awkwardly there.
"Well, I'll be going to work now..." Sunggyu said, feeling his voice was like a robot's. "There are books you can read in the living room and watch the TV if you want to... Mrs. Shim will come by around afternoon and do some cleaning... She's not very talkative though but just ask her if you need anything, okay? I'll be back at noon for lunch, but if I can't make it, just go ahead and have lunch without me."
"Okay..."
"Well, I'll be going now." Sunggyu said, looking at her, while scratching his head an
