Dinner Wars
Stuck in the Middle
“Oh! You guys made it!”
I heard my sister’s voice coming from a distance, and I turned to see her skipping over, Sehun trailing along behind her. They were…well dressed—Krystal in a purple dress and Sehun in a tux. Then I turned back to the others, all dressed in the same way.
“The heck is going on?” Jessica mumbled, her nose scrunched up at the sight.
“Sica unnie, you’re here, too?” Krystal exclaimed. And before Jessica could answer to that, she hugged her tightly. “This is even great!”
My mouth hung as I looked around, and my eyes caught Kris’. He looked back at me, still not a word said, and we both raised our brows as the scene went on in front of us.
Krystal then captured me in her embrace, gluing me and Jessica together.
“I’m so glad!” she beamed happily.
“K-Krystal, just what on Earth is this about?” I asked, trying to breathe.
She finally let both of us go.
“It was Sehun’s idea,” she said. “I mean, I know you’re leaving even if we try to convince you to stay, so why not celebrate first?”
“Celebrate?” I stared at everyone, the feeling of awkwardness starting to creep in. “I-I-I— It’s not necessary— I—”
If I hadn’t had stuttered I would’ve made it in one piece.
“Come on,” Krystal said. “We’ve already made reservations.”
“Reser— Whoa!”
I was dragged before a word could come out of me.
There was a restaurant, not too far away, and we made it in a few strides. I had no idea why Kris was there.
Well, actually it would make sense that Sehun had invited him.
But…
I stared as the one named Tao stood by Kris’ side all the way, then to Baekhyun who’d been trying to walk by me.
…I just don’t get why the one, two, three, four is here as well.
I only knew few of them.
There was Tao. I remembered him.
Then there’s Yixing, or so I heard Kris call him Lay.
Another giant named Chanyeol.
And, of course, who would forget Byun Baekhyun.
“Hold up.” Krystal paused when we were just a few inches in front of the reserved restaurant. “Sehun, where’s Kyuhyun?”
Quickly, Sehun dug inside his pocket for his phone.
“He should be here by now,” he said.
I was surprised with myself. Kyuhyun was supposed to be here around ten minutes or so, yet I was calm.
“That guy,” Krystal huffed. “He’s always late.”
We went in first, and right after Jessica got past the door, I was halted. The man in the suit pointed at my outfit, shook his head and finger, and clicked his tongue.
I was humiliated once. Then Jessica pulled my arm. “She’s with me.” There was her glare that I know of, and it sent the man cowering back behind his book of guests.
When we came to our large table, my jaw fell.
“Did you organize all this?” I asked as I looked at Kryst
