Back As One
Talk To Me (Sequel to Don't Ignore Me)
Back As One
Hyeri wasn’t expecting him at all—actually, the least person that she thought would visit her was him. After a long period of time not seeing him, his features looked more defined. Overall, he looked even more handsome. This just symbolized how long she had been away from her friends in Seoul and how long she had isolated herself from humanity.
She was unsure of what to do—she realized that she was in position to face him. All she could do was sit opposite him on her bed and sob softly. Was it because she was touched or was it because of earlier before and she wasn’t done crying?
Why wasn’t she done crying? How long more was she going to cry? Would crying help anything in any situation?
“Hey, my purpose of coming here wasn’t to see you cry,” he handed her a piece of tissue and offered a cordial smile. She needed some human comfort, bottling things to herself was the worst thing she—or anyone—should do when in crisis.
“Thanks, Hoya,” she paused to wipe her tears before continuing, “I—why are you here…?”
“You didn’t reply my message either…” She continued sheepishly.
He let out a soft chuckle that waltzed through her heart, “I was on the plane here!” But it faded away and he looked at her with despondency and shook his head, “My best friend’s in deep trouble, of course I had to be a hero and rescue the damsel in distress.”
Hoya, her bestest friend flew to New York from Seoul to save her ing in a relationship. It wasn’t even spring break yet. He pushed his studies aside (Hyeri did that too, wow) and came here just for her or them.
Guilt crept on her and she lowered her eyes, feeling ashamed of herself. She didn’t know how Hoya had the heart to do something as nice as this. She softened inside and a smile of gratitude played on her lips. But it disappeared within a blink of an eye.
Why couldn’t Myungsoo do the same?
“And you. You didn’t tell me that Myungsoo’s being an .”
“What? He’s not an .”
“Whatever—I mean, let’s just face it. He’s a douche bag and this is coming from his good friend.”
“…”
What else could she say? Hoya was actually true about Myungsoo, and Hyeri herself was a . Yes, that was the cold hard truth. Things ended up like this because of their flaws and contrasting personalities.
But nobody is ever perfect. Despite their clashing personalities, the two had to work things out to maintain a relationship. This was basically what a relationship consisted of—two people working together to compliment each other. Like the Sun and clouds, bread and butter and coffee and sugar.
“….” She didn’t even realize that she had zoned out on Hoya.
“Okay, so this is basically what had happened in Korea. That friend of yours, Eunji is actually in cahoots with Yeon Hee, Ha Yeon’s cousin,” he rummaged through his bag pack and retrieved out a letter. He opened it and took out a handful of photographs. Hyeri’s eyes widened upon realization. She knew when those photographs were taken! At the restaurant weeks ago with Eunji!
Holy crap.
Eunji had a camera with her and she kept on taking pictures that day out of the norm. No wonder she kept asking the two of them to pose for her! Hyeri knew that Eunji was being weird—she had an ulterior motive.
“I don’t know how these two are related in any way but Eunji has been obsessed with Myungsoo since 2010 wen she met him in school,” Hyeri tried to recall if she knew of any Eunji in school back then. Her name seemed familiar. Damn it! She remembered someone with the name Eunji who had a serious crush on Myungsoo till it became out of control. She cried when Myungsoo rejected her Valentine’s Day gift.
“—and she wants to get rid of you by ruining your relationship. This envelope was supposed to be mailed to Myungsoo but Ha Yeon caught Eunji in time.”
There were pictures of her and Hoya smiling to the camera, and two or three were taken after the waitress had spilled water on Hyeri. Hoya was helping her to dry but the picture seemed to be fabricating lies.
It was an irony how pictures could tell a thousand words. Too bad Eunji’s pictures could only cause drama and misunderstandings. Thank god Ha Yeon stopped Eunji from mailing it. Things would become ugly should Myungsoo receive it.
“Since 2010? Wow, she’s quite committed, I guess,” she shrugged her shoulders and lied on her bed. She slung her arm over her forehead and stared at the ceiling fan.
Eunji was so evil, why did she want to break the two of them up? They were so happy… well, they used to be. Not longer anymore. It seemed like Eunji had gotten what she wanted.
“There’s a handwritten letter too,” he passed her the crumpled paper, seemed like it had gone through thorough investigation.
“To MyungMyung,
You may not remember me but I am a lover of you.
You rejected me but I still love you so much.
You don’t remember me, do you?
Whatever, I will make you love me.
If I can’t, you will beg down to me.
I should be your girlfriend.
I will be.
Break up with her, she’s cheating on you with Hoya. I will never do that, please look my way.
Or else.
I love you still and forever.
