Downpour (Part 2)
PasserbyHe inhaled shivering a bit with a sob, “He’s going abroad to pursue photography” and stopped midway going back to yesterday when they met at the café.
“Woohyun meet me up at the usual café next to your office after lunch” myungsoo spoke hurriedly leaving him confused and hung up immediately; he had been working overtime for the second time this week so he hadn’t gone home in 48 hours. He didn’t know why myungsoo was in a hurry and something about his voice started to make a knot in his stomach.
He walked into the familiar café he always hangs out with his boyfriend when he gets off work or between if he gets time, Myungsoo was already inside sitting by the window.
“Hey kitty” he smiled warmly at his lover giving him a peck before taking his seat before him, myungsoo sat with a stoic expression and didn’t even reply to his peck.
“Is there something wrong? Are you sick?” he asked worriedly looking at him go pale.
“I’m going to Berlin in a week” he spoke blatantly.
“Okay?”
“I found a job there pretty decent pay and they give accommodation and even sponsor if I wanted to study photography further-“ myungsoo spoke until he was interrupted,
“Are you breaking up with me?” woohyun asked while biting back the tear which was threatening to fall, he could listen to the hastened speed in which myungsoo was speaking, speed trying to say that this was not the usual mini date the both of them shared. Something felt wrong the moment he picked up the call. He felt it was coming and he didn't want it to happen under any circumstance.
“I think we are drifting away woohyun, you are always overworking even when you don’t have to, making me feel like I don’t have a purpose in your life, to be part of it” myungsoo blurted out impatiently when he initially planned a huge speech before breaking it to him completely of why this meeting was actually planned abruptly. But he couldn’t help but feel frustrated looking at how clueless woohyun had been, it hurt him. It hurt him to say those things to the person he actually cared for once, until he was ignored for every attempt he tried to fill the void that was built. Reciprocation was crucial in any relationship, he was starting to feel that it was gradually fading in theirs.
“Please don’t do this myungsoo; you know we can work it out baby. Please tell me you are taking back everything you said” he held onto myungsoo’s hand desperately before it got yanked away.
“Answer this honestly, would you choose me or your career” myungsoo glared at him now, making woohyun flustered at such an abrupt question. He didn't want any more false promises, anymore drop of his dates he had always planned to show how much he cared and how much he wanted the relationship to go further until it was all scratched out because woohyun had to finish up one more report or having dinner with a client provided more gratification to the latter's career than having a date night.
“I-I…you can’t ask me su-such a thing you of all people know how much my work is important to me” woohyun pleaded, “Please don’t make me choose myungsoo-ya, I promise to make it up to you”
“See you said it yourself, I love you so much I really do but you need to understand that I am tired of waiting, tried of wanting for you to make it up to me because if I give in you will get back to your usual routine as soon as you see me stop noticing. But I don’t stop noticing woohyun, I don’t want you to cling onto me always but I really wanted you to give me time. Time to tell me that I am equally important to you just like your career, but no you have been failing miserably these past few months and I can’t take it anymore” myungsoo spoke with so much hurt making woohyun realize what he had done.
