There is nothing really new to have everyone’s attention the moment they step on the floor of Great Hall. It will be a mundane thing when you have Luhan by your side. Despite of wearing identical uniforms and only varied on the color of their scarfs and lining of their robes, Luhan still managed to overpower them all. He’s not even making an effort to make himself beautiful. He’s just … too enthralling. Even when he just woke up, his face has that natural glow that no one seems could ever have. His plump lips that doesn’t need a lip gloss just to make it luscious. His flushing cheeks sprinkled by faint freckles, thick luxurious golden brown locks that are silky and moving fluidly with the air even he hasn’t taken a bath yet. And among all those breathtakingly stunning features, his eyes are such a sight to behold. Unlike the classic cold blue eyes of other part veelas, Luhan has a peculiar yet enticing emerald green orbs. His radiant eyes are like a hue of fresh spring, glistening brightly… bold like green threads that woven to create nature and similar to the House shade that he hated. Up until now, Kyungsoo couldn’t believe that he’s friends with a beguiling person like Luhan. It’s as though he doesn’t belong to this world because his beauty is unparalleled. Countless students, even since they were first year fancied and still fancies the veela from the Lion’s House. Even Do Kyungsoo isn’t an exception.

Kyungsoo belongs to a House who has an inclination with dark magic and thank Merlin that his mother decided to marry a muggleborn which is his father. It is like spitting on his great great grandfathers grave because he hated their tradition, customs and centennial thinking. What’s with the obsession of blood purity? Being a halfblood and muggleborn doesn’t make you less of a wizard and witch. Magic still runs through the blood of those muggleborns, the same blood that coursed through the veins of Merlin and the four founders of Hogwarts. He also hated how wizards and witches enslaved other creatures thinking they are superior among others. Goblins and elves are creatures that can use their magic without any support, wizards on the other hand are just bunch of foolish pups without their precious magical stick. Kyungsoo was so determined to spite all the purebloods but it changed the moment he met Luhan.

At first, Kyungsoo thought that he’s just like other purebloods who are pretentious and only wanted recognition from other people. Even as a halfblood and lived with muggle society for years, he knew who Luhan was, the heir of House of Xi and one of the glorified beauty of the wizarding world. He’s the talk of their town and even foreign wizards and witches are already seeking for the House’s favor and approval to be one of the precious veela’s potential suitors. He thought that the talk about the heir is just an utter exaggeration, purebloods afterall have exceptional skills in dramatics but he was proven wrong when he finally met Luhan. Luhan who didn’t stammer and instantly befriend him despite the snobby and looks of disdain he garnered from other purebloods. The delicate flower of a light family couldn’t care less, stubborn and pertinacious, unbending will and principle, blood of Godric Gryffindor truly flows on his stream.

Luhan isn’t a typical pureblood because he’s the only one who made him understand the need for those tediously boring customs and traditions. He became the eventual key for Kyungsoo to accept his other half of bloodline. He’s the reason why Kyungsoo tried to go out of his comfort zone, ride with the wind (because that’s the only way that he could have Luhan for himself, being invited to the Xi manor to play Quidditch but later on learned to love it) and the one who brought them all in a group despite of their diverse and clashing attributes. Afterall, he’s not the only one who fell under Luhan’s allure.

There’s Park Chanyeol who is dumb enough to lose his toad right after getting off the train when they were a mere cubs and it was the kindhearted darling veela who found his toad. Kim Minseok who also took a liking of Luhan when he saw him once during flying lesson with Madam Qian. Kyungsoo has a hunch that the Minseok’s affection to Luhan prompted Jongdae to play a prank with the latter resulting to the raging wrath of Oh Sehun.

And yes, Oh Sehun, the heir of House of Oh… the most fantastically vicious and wicked among all of Luhan’s admirers. He doesn’t really like Oh Sehun for his friend. A conceited pureblood like Oh Sehun who thought that the world only revolved around them but later on realized that there’s more to his bullying facade. He has no qualms on destroying anyone who has a spine to touch even a single strand of Luhan’s golden hair (he himself got his own taste even as Luhan’s friend) and undoubtedly will burn a trail of death, mayhem and destruction just for the beauty. He will even flip and burn the wizarding world just for him. Those qualities of Oh Sehun made Kyungsoo finally surrender Luhan eventhough there’s really nothing between them in the first place.

Time has passed. He just woke up not harbouring any feelings for Luhan anymore and he already had circle of friends. It was Luhan who became the knot tying their friendship. Now, Oh Sehun isn’t threatened anymore. It is amusing to think that the heir of a Noble and Most Ancient House of Oh once got jealous of him. In fact, he's not the only one, he gets jealous to anyone who get Luhan’s attention and Kyungsoo thinks that constantly getting to the veela’s nerves is just one of his selfish ways to imprison Luhan’s attention to his. The initial struggle of their friendship due to that fact were prominent and the only one who isn’t aware of this is Luhan himself (and probably Kim Joonmyeon and Byun Baekhyun who are thick enough not to read the atmosphere unless it will directly divulge to them).

As they walk toward the Gryffindor’s table, Kyungsoo couldn’t help but notice how everyone stopped whatever they’re doing because the darling just arrived. Even when they’re eating, there are still numerous students, both genders who are still watching the blond with dazzled expression on their faces. When he suddenly giggled at what Baekhyun narrated animatedly, Kyungsoo can almost hear them sigh, clearly captivated and spellbound. It’s as though a beautiful melody just resounded on the confines of four corners of the Great Hall. Comparable to the feeling of finally gulping a warm butter beer after a long exposure of the cold. It is also akin to the feeling of finally grasping the wand for the first time at Ollivander’s, magic coursing his veins as warmth washes over his entirety. That’s how great Luhan’s impact to Kyungsoo even he finally moved on. Well, in reality, even you finally moved on, the feelings will still linger on you. Similar on acquiring a magical wound, the pain might ease but it will leave a permanent scar. It is evident on how he could still make Kyungsoo ease his burden and worries by just hearing his melodious voice and he knew that it is the same case with other people.

Refined and elegance are already embedded on Luhan’s, it is evident on the movements of his hands using the cutlery, undoubtedly belongs to a noble and notable family in Wizarding World. But as what they usually say, nobody is perfect and Luhan isn’t an exception. He might excelled in various aspects but never on being conscious on his surroundings especially when he’s preoccupied with his own world and quick on judging if it involves Sehun.

Exhibit A, just this morning the rambunctious and rebel twin of Jisoo, Younghoon whom unlike his raven twin sister belongs to Gryffindor (son and daughter of House of Xi, technically Luhan’s cousins) found it amusing to plant a dungbomb on his twin’s dorm. They spent their morning running around the moving stairs and the ever oblivious Luhan almost got caught in the middle of onslaught because apparently the latter made it a duty to be certain that his cousins are behaving according to their House’s ideals. He almost fell from the stairs because Younghoon transfigured it into a slide just to mock his sister. Thanks to Sehun who is quick to levitate the nearby statue and transfigure it into a pillow cushioning Luhan’s fall. Kyungsoo’s even surprise that Sehun’s already beside them. He’s really certain that Sehun has a separate eyes exclusive for Luhan because if not, how come he knew when exactly to intervene? Well, it might have also something to do with the fact that they’re mates for life (another fact that Luhan’s still in the dark). Sehun pointed his wand on Younghoon about to cast a spell for almost harming his beloved when Yifan stopped him. Just in time for Luhan to stand on his feet and thank Yifan who he thought his savior because he’s currently clutching Sehun’s wand in a firm grip.

“Don’t you dare laugh, idiot.” He warned, his cheeks painted with adorable rose hue. He rolled his eyes at Sehun then turned around.

Exhibit B, Kim Taehyung who’s one of the Chasers of Gryffindor team is known for his clumsiness. Together with Jimin he brought his plate with him, wanting to sit beside Luhan but as what he said, Taehyung is so clumsy that he tripped on his own feet. Kyungsoo’s eyes widen as he watched the bowl tipped and if not because of Sehun’s quick reflex, Luhan will be bathing of pumpkin soup. The soup ended up on Taehyung’s robe which angered Luhan greatly and it worsen when he saw Sehun with his wand raised. He started spouting vile phrases, a complete contrast of serene and calm Luhan awhile ago. Oh Sehun is the only one who could elicit such response from Luhan. The reason why Kyungsoo never believed Luhan’s resolution that he hates Sehun. It might be true but as what famous muggle saying goes, there is a thin line between hate and love.

Then here’s Exhibit C…

“Houses of Salazar Slytherin and Godric Gryffindor have commanded the respect of the wizarding world for nearly ten centuries. I will not have you, in the course of a single evening, besmirching the name of the founders by behaving like a babbling, bumbling band of baboons!” Professor Jung’s cold voice reverberates on the confines of Transfiguration room which was converted into a dancing hall.

The Yule ball is crawling around the corner and the Professors decided to allot the time of Transfiguration and Charms to dancing lesson. Professor Jung and Professor Nam teamed up to teach Gryffindors and Slytherins together while Professor Ryeowook and Professor Park teach Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws. They are all required to attend the practice for four Mondays, adjusting their schedule including the review for OWLs. He’s no Ravenclaw but he will prefer to study than to attend a fancy dance like this. It is already a torture to have Slytherins with them in a practice. Those smug s acting like they were somehow the divine’s gift to mankind for the sole fact that many of them knew how to dance.

“Kyungsoo-ah, can you repeat five times what Professor Jung just said? You don’t want to? I’ll do it then. If I can pronounce it properly, you got to be my date on Yule ball. Babbling, bumbling band of baboons, babbling bumbl—”
