Chapter III
A Thousand Dawns [Discontinued]That night after the work, Yuta found himself in the same minimart with the same gimbap on his hands in the same exact table like he was the day before. He unwrapped the gimbap and started to eat it while looking out of the window.
His first day of internship wasn’t that bad. He had learned five The Dead Rabbit recipes in just a night, and he even had started making drinks for the customers too. It wasn’t that bad at all, and Yuta even enjoyed what he did.
Bartending had always been his passion from high school. He always finds that excitement whenever he holds jigger and shaker close to his hands. The recipes of cocktails turning all around in his head swifter than harmonies, and he loves the expression of people when they try his drinks.
Yuta is the happiest when he makes a drink. That’s his policy.
Yuta uncapped the cold tea beside him and drank it. He closed his eyes and let the freshness of green tea flavored drink ran down his throat, before reached out for another gimbap. Just when he was about to open it, a tall figure walked passed on the road in front of him.
Yuta widened his eyes, then turned to the left to follow the tall guy who just in time made his way into the minimart.
Johnny.
Yuta felt his breath caught on his ribs when Johnny’s eyes met him for a split second, before he looked away again and disappeared in of the aisle.
Yuta’s hold on the gimbap tightened, and he started to sweat on his own spot. He cursed himself as his heartbeat quickened a bit.
What? Was he excited? Yuta Nakamoto, that guy is taken.
Yuta started to calm his rapid heartbeat as he stuffed his mouth with more gimbap, then stole a glance to the tall guy again.
Johnny took something from the food sections, then made his way toward the cashier. After paying his food, Yuta thought Johnny would leave.
He didn’t. He made his way toward the sitting area and sat beside Yuta. Just like the day before.
Yuta almost choked on his gimbap when the faint smell of vanilla and musk hit his sense. Damn, the Johnny guy smelled so sweet and good at the same time he had difficulties keeping his face straight.
The next seconds ticked slow for Yuta. He could hear his own heartbeat thumping so close to his ears, and he groggily kept on eating the gimbap to make him distracted.
It didn’t work though, cause he found himself kept on stealing glances at Johnny even with mouth full of gimbap.
Johnny was looking at the triangle gimbap for a long time, before twirled it around and brought it close to his eyes. His expression was confused, and suddenly he turned toward Yuta.
Their eyes met, and Yuta rolled his eyes upward, pretending to look at the lamp before slowly turning his head away back to its original position.
, he bet his face had burnt to a deep shade of red by that time.
Johnny returned to look back at his gimbap again, tilted his head to the left before suddenly unwrapped the plastic around it.
Yuta couldn’t help but turned to look at what the guy was doing. He left the plastic opened wide, with the nori still wrapped on the other plastic.
Yuta furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. What was that kid doing? Shouldn’t he pull on the plastic wrappers apart to wrap the nori around the rice ball?
…ah, maybe he doesn’t like the nori?
Yuta couldn’t help but keep on watching as the tall guy stared at the rice ball in confusion. Then when those long fingers started to tear away the plastic that wrapping the nori, Yuta suddenly spoke out of consciousness.
“…what are you doing?”
Johnny turned back to look at Yuta, expression lost. “…eh? I am…”
Yuta looked at Johnny’s face, waited for the other to fully answer his question.
“…I think the mart forget to wrap my rice ball with the seaweed…” Johnny said while pointing at the rice ball.
Yuta blinked as he looked at the rice ball for a split seconds before turned to look at Johnny again.
