Nakamoto Yuta is just an average Japanese kid, who yearns for adventure and thrills in his young age. Being a hospitality kid with a major in bartending, he got seduced with his seniors’ advices to go to Seoul for internship.

“The living cost is so much smaller,”

He remembered one of his senior told him stories.

“And they pay you quite big amount. By living there you can also advance to talk in Korean more, which is a big plus for you too.”

Of course Yuta got lured, especially after thinking how cool it would be to get a certificate from a bar overseas. It would increase his value a little bit, and satisfy the youth hunger inside him to experience new things.

So there he packed his belongings and left for Korea. His family isn’t that wealthy to pay for both airplane ticket and administration fee without having to work a little harder, so Yuta got determined to work hard and returned the amount of money plus the extras back to his parents.

Reality is not always as sweet as the expectation. Living in Korea turned out to be much harder than Yuta thought.

First day in Korea, he got placed inside a small mixed dorm with the other 9 foreign kids. Six of them are Chinese, with three Thailand kid and Yuta alone as a Japanese. They all were there for the same purpose, internship. It just, the Chinese got their internships in restaurants while the Thailand got theirs in hotels. Yuta was roomed with a small Chinese kid called Dong Sicheng. He’s a cute kid, definitely looked younger than Yuta with handsome feature and awkward personality.

Yuta put his bag down on the floor, as he eyed Sicheng who had already sat on the bed.

“Hi, I’m Yuta.” Yuta spoke in English, bright smile written on his face.

The Sicheng kid looked up in surprise, looked hesitated for a bit before looked away. “Eh… S-sicheng.”

Yuta smiled and bowed down a little, a tradition he had gotten used to ever since he was little.“I hope we will get along from now on.”

The Sicheng kid blinked, and then shook both of his hands. “S-sorry…”

Yuta looked up in confusion, wondering why the kid suddenly apologized to him.

“Eng-english, no…”Sicheng shook his hands again.

Yuta blinked before let out an ‘ah’. Then, awkward silence filled the air. Embarassed with the situation, Sicheng immediately left Yuta alone in the room and went to gather with his other friends.

Yuta sighed heavily, got a little troubled immediately. How could he get along with his new roommate, if he doesn’t even speak English?

Yuta could speak basic Korean, like daily conversations cause he took the language as his second language in his university. He thought he wouldn’t have difficulties in term of communication in Korea, but turned out he couldn’t even start it right with his roommate.

A few days passed, and Yuta found It was so hard to communicate with the other kids as well, especially because the Chinese kids don’t even understand english while the Thailand kids made a gang on their own.

Yuta felt left out, alone without anyone he could talk to.A free first one week that supposed to be used for adapting turned into depressing week for Yuta. He couldn’t communicate well, and he suddenly got attacked by huge homesickness. He missed everyone in Japan, his parents and their small house in the heart of Tokyo, his friends, and even the random crowds that speak Japanese.

Yuta wanted to go home. He didn’t like it there in Seoul. He wished he could turn back time and decided to just stay in Tokyo rather than come to Seoul.
