CH 17 - Kyuhyun
KISMET"So, next time we meet we'll be doing duets. So today we'll do the partnering... I think the first pair's obvious right? Sungmin? Cho?" Kyuhyun just shrugged his shoulders when Jongwoon looked at him as if asking for confirmation. It's to show that it isn't a problem to him. He's sure that it won't be a problem to his boyfriend too, of course. Speaking of whom, Sungmin was not around in today's meeting because he had personal errands.
"Alright then, no problem with that... Who else wants to be partnered to---"
"Jongwoon-ssi, I'll sing with my sister" Jessica said while raising her right hand for Jongwoon to see her. Jongwoon was in front facing all the members who are seated in seats arranged in ladder-like platform.
"Alright, Jung sisters..." He said as he scribbled on his little notebook. The term 'Jung sisters' got a positive feedback from the other members. Jongwoon didn't seem to mind the noise as he just talked over it a little later, "So who else?"
Silence filled the room.
Kyuhyun noted that that Wendy girl is not around. He is 100% sure that if she was present, she'll be the very first to raise a hand and would want to be partnered to their club president. Good thing she isn't here, Kyuhyun thought. He finds her annoying because she's too loud and hyper.
"Anybody else? Or should I just assign you all myself? I just think that it'll be easier if you can work with someone you're comfortable with, right?"
"How about Onew and Luna-ssi?" Kyuhyun said, trying to tease the 2 members. Their feelings for each other are so obvious, it's already pathetic. Kyuhyun thought that maybe they just need a little push.
The club erupted to laughters, yelling, catcalls and more teasing. Kyuhyun gestured an 'ok' sign towards Onew. He saw Luna blushing like mad.
Kyuhyun saw Jongwoon too, smiling from ear to ear at that, but tried to hide it to convey professionalism as he asked if the 2 are ok with it. Onew said he's fine if Luna would agree. The whole club was holding their breaths while waiting for her to talk --- like they are watching a drama unfold. Kyuhyun was a bit weirded out actually how they were all are kind of invested with "Lu-New" (as how Youngwoon referred to the two a while back). Luna then very discreetly said she's ok with them as duet partners. That's when the club erupted into a very noisy mess again. Guys were patting Onew's back as if congratulating him. Girls were teasing Luna as well. Kyuhyun looked at the guy in front of them --- but realized that that specific guy was sharing a smile with Ryeowook. It seemed like they were in an inside joke or something. It irritated Kyuhyun but he didn't know why exactly.
When Jongwoon tried to calm the room down, Kyuhyun then butted in by saying that after 'Lu-New', then the president and vp should also be partnered for the duets. He heard a snort from Youngwoon. Jongwoon's face was in total confusion though. Ryeowook stiffened.
"I mean, it seems like we're doing couples right?"
"But we're not --"
"You're telling me that you are not out as a couple? Then this should be your chance to show off your relationship"
"What I'm saying is we're not a couple, Cho" Jongwoon replied. His tone was sure. Confused probably with whatever Kyuhyun was blurting out, but he was sure of his statement. The whole club was silent now.
"Why do you try to hide it when ---"
It was that moment when he saw Ryeowook turn to his direction. He was pissed, Kyuhyun can see that much. But Kyuhyun cannot back down now. Why they were hiding their relationship, he cannot understand.
"We aren't together" Ryeowook said icily.
"But ---"
"That's enough Kyuhyun-ssi" He heard Youngwoon say from behind him.
"No I mean, it's so obvious you're madly in love ---" Kyuhyun's tone was still in a teasing manner towards Ryeowook. But the smaller guy was not having it.
"You shut up about things that you have no idea about!" And with that Ryeowook was gone. He walked out of the room leaving all others in an uncomfortable silence
Jongwoon cleared his throat after some seconds. "So... Maybe I'll just uhmm... Partner the remaining members up... Yeah, I'll... I'll do that and..." Kyuhyun honestly did not want to put him in this awkward situation. He really thought that it'll just go as fine as how he started to tease the Lu-New couple. How is he to know that Ryeowook was such a drama queen?
"Just post the list in here tomorrow Jongwoon" Youngwoon said helpfully.
"Yeah, that's what I'll do" He nodded towards everyone and gave a forced smile. "Hmm let's adjourn for now. Just keep in touch for announcements before the next scheduled meeting guys." Everyone else was shuffling their way out of the room now, exchanging byes with each other. "Thank you for coming" Jongwoon added.
The said man was arranging his notes and other things he put on top of the piano. Kyuhyun was still in his seat trying to catch Jongwoon's attention. A part of him was worried that Jongwoon might be mad at him. He feels like he needs to apologize, it's just that he isn't the type of person who apologizes.

He went to that mini-office inside the VAS room. Good, Jongwoon was there. He was near the door when he heard him talking to someone in the phone.
"...I'm ok babe, just a bit stressed that's all... Plus I miss you so much"
He misses Ryeowook 'so much'? That's just way cheesy. They just saw each other this afternoon, Kyuhyun thought.
"Well, there's this new kid, right? And he pissed off Wookie so much that he even walked out of the meeting. It was crazy. I didn't know what to do, so I just dismissed early..."
Ooops. So Ryeowook is not really his boyfriend?? He was so sure about Jongwoon and Ryeowook, how can he be wrong about this! And who is he talking to?
"Yeah I'll have to talk to both of them. I'll go look for Wookie after our call....
Kyuhyun found himself holding his breath waiting for Jongwoon's words. He knows that eavesdropping like this is just wrong. And it's literally not Kyuhyun's thing. Since when did he care about things that do not really affect him? But he was curious as .
"Yeah, I miss you more...."
Who the hell is he talking to??? His curiosity was overwhelming him. In his mind, the question 'Who's that who's that who's that' was on repeat.
"I love you too. I hope you come back soon.... Bye"
After a few seconds, Kyuhyun made his presence known. "Ehem".
Jongwoon's head turned to his direction and upon seeing him, said, "I literally have no energy to verbal-fight with you"
"I'm actually here to apologize"
"Whoa! Am I hearing things?!"
"I thought you don't want to verbal-fight with me?"
"Ughh... It's just... Ok, fine, so... You realized that what you did was wrong --"
"I'm only apologizing for saying that you and Ryeowook is in a relationship. I know now that it probably isn't true"
"Everything you said weren't true!"
"Nope. I apologize only as to --"
"Why do you always qualify your apology?... And what do you mean? You still believe that we are hopelessly in love with each other?"
"You might not be to him but I am sure that he is with you. I guess your brother was right after all"
"Nonsense. He isn't even gay, Cho. That was why he was so pissed at you"
"No. This time, I am pretty sure --"
"How can you be so sure? You're new. You don't know him and you don't know me. How can you be saying all these, and what's more is that you made a scene about it in our club meeting!"
Kyuhyun wanted annoyed Jongwoon, but not mad Jongwoon. "I'm really sorry. I apologize for making a scene in the meeting. That is really why I'm here. I need to apologize to you first as head of the club. And ... Well.."
He heard Jongwoon sigh. Is that a good thing?
"Ok, Cho, first, apologize to Ryeowook. I am not mad at you. But he is. And he has the right to be. Because you're spewing nonsense --- shhh let me finish --- wait I should be mad at you too I should --- ah ah, let me talk" Jongwoon raised a hand towards Kyuhyun, who wanted to in, but seems like he can't.
"...the thing is I am not mad at you I don't know why maybe I'm just really tired..."
Kyuhyun was amazed at how quick the words were coming off Jongwoon's mouth, "...second, you have to apologize to the group. I will call a special meeting, a quick one, and you'll aplogize for doing that creating an awkward atmosphere and all that stuff ---"
"Jongwoon!"
"What?"
"I'll apologize only to ---"
"No qualified apology! You should be absolutely sorry! Ok you know what, I'll write it for you. You just have to memorize it and say it to the group in the meeting ok?"

There was no way he'll use this apology speech to address the club. It's too much, Kyuhyun thought. It'll just blow over. They will all probably not remember what happened anyway the next time the'll meet. He chucked that small paper with Jongwoon's handwriting in pocket.
At last he saw Ryeowook. Jongwoon gave him 3 places in school where he thinks Ryeowook might be. He was right in the second one... In one of the gazebos lining up in a pathway in school, but not the usual place where he and Changmin's gang hang out.
He cleared his throat to announce his presence to the other guy. Ryeowook's facial expression was definitely not good when he saw Kyuhyun but the latter was persistent. He wants this over and done with. Ryeowook then moved a bit to give Kyuhyun space to sit. And so the latter did.
"I apologize for what happened a while back. I already talked to Jongwoon-ssi. He was more worried for you, I guess."
Ryeowook didn't say anything back. He decided to just go on. "I really thought that you were a couple... I know now that I was wrong..."
"You weren't entirely wrong anyway. I am probably obvious about my feelings. You weren't the first one to tell me that." Kyuhyun heard a bitter laughter from him. "It's only Jongwoon-hyung who's too dense to notice"
Kyuhyun didn't know what to say to the other who seemed to be pouring out his feelings to him. A part of him really wants to say that they aren't close friends so why was he talking about this to him. He would be kidding of course but it might actually be another reason for Ryeowook to be more angry, so he stopped himself from joking around.
"Or maybe he won't be able to notice anyone, because he's with someone"
Oh so Ryeowook knows about that secret boyfriend. Was that a secret boyfriend? He asked Changmin and Sungmin about Ryeowook and Jongwoon before and he's positive that they never mentioned that Jongwoon has a boyfriend.
"So... You were mad at me a while back because ---"
"Because I don't want him to be uncomfortable with me. I am not planning to confess... At all."
"But why?"
Ryeowook turned to face him for the first time he sat down beside him. "Because I want to always be by his side. A lover may come and go, but if I am his friend, I know I can be with him as much as I want to"
Gosh damn, what a martyr, Kyuhyun thought. He chuckled.
"God, no, sorry... I didn't mean to laugh... It's just that... Wow... You are such a martyr!"
Ryeowook rolled his eyes towards Kyuhyun. "I mean, I have never been that much in love in my life so I wouldn't really know how that will feel, but it just feels to sacrificial don't you think" Kyuhyun continued.
Ryeowook's face now contorted in confusion. Probably questioning Kyuhyun's not being 'that much in love' yet. Kyuhyun realized how that must have sound, knowing of course that he is in a relationship with Sungmin. "What I mean is uhmmm that kind of love... That you have... That's contented with being his friend..."
"Oh... Right..." But Ryeowook doesn't sound convinced.
Silence developed between them. Kyuhyun decided to lighten the mood. "Your story feels like a male second-lead in drama, don't you know that?"
"I know right? It's probably because of the amount of dramas that I watch that's affecting my thinking and my acts too"
They were both laughing now. After that they talked about the dramas they have watched (because yes, he has watched a number of them because Sungmin makes him watch them most times).
It wasn't much later when they felt comfortable with each other's presence. They were about to say goodbye to each other, when Ryeowook felt the need to add, "Jongwoon's not difficult to like... And love. So you must be careful Kyuhyun, you might fall for him too."
"What? I am with Sungmin" Kyuhyun replied immediately.
"That's precisely what I'm saying. You have a boyfriend. Jongwoon-hyung has someone too. Do not hang out with hyung that much or you might end up hurting a lot of people..."
He knows that we have our tutoring sessions, Kyuhyun thought. He decided to not respond to that and just tease the smaller guy, "Maybe you're just saying that because you're jealous"
Ryeowook smiled bitterly and answered, "Well, yeah. There's that too".

I don't like YeWook in fanfics but I looooove YeWook in real life. Wookie doesn't seem the type to bully or try and annoy Yesung so much, that's why. And he keeps on saying that he doesn't like skinship (or maybe just to Siwon haha) but he always initiates it with Yesungie, and it's always so adorbs! ^^
Anyway. I hope that this chapter has clarified everything betweem YeWook in this story!
