His laughter made Kyuhyun smile and laugh too. It has that infectious and melodious quality he can liken to a child who laughs with no worries at all. It felt good that he was the reason why Jongwoon laughed. He doesn't really know why he felt that way though.
He continued teasing Jongwoon lightly with the latter who seemed ok with it, even laughing with him, when Sungmin arrived at the room, Ryeowook in tow. Kyuhyun went back to his seat, as Sungmin went to the seat beside the one where Kyuhyun's bag was. The couple were having small talks when Kyuhyun observed through his peripheral vision that Ryeowook had with him a plastic bag with a lunch pack and a bottle of water in it. The petite man gave it to Jongwoon who just finished writing some stuff in the white board.
"You shouldn't have bothered Wookie, I can just eat later"
"But hyung, you should not be skipping lunch" The other said worriedly.
Sungmin must have realized that Kyuhyun was looking at the other two guys in the room. The former then joined the conversation in front of them. "Why were you not able to eat lunch Jongwoon-hyung?"
"I was just super busy today you guys. What with our first meeting, and the quizzes and homeworks that my profs has been handing down. The day has been so hectic" He said with a smile, seemingly trying to not make his dongsaengs worry.
"That's why you have to eat this hyung, it's just a sandwich, so that you can eat it now just before the meeting starts"
"You still have 15 minutes hyung!" Sungmin added.
"Fine, fine. I will."
Kyuhyun was silent all throughout and just observed the conversation between the three. He then saw Jongwoon extending his hand to Ryeowook's right cheek, who then said, "Thanks for this Wookie-ah. You're so sweet". Kyuhyun's forehead crinkled. He felt slightly jealous. Wait. Where did that even come from? No. He cringe at those types of public displays of affection actually. He quickly looked at Sungmin, the latter looking at him as well. Kyuhyun then gave a look which meant 'I told you, they are a couple'. Sungmin, understanding what he wanted to say, chuckled lightly and gave a shrug.

Days has passed since the first meeting. They were to meet again with an assignment of a solo song of their choice, which they feel can highlight them as an 'artist'. This was the first day that the club moderator, Mr. Lee Soo Man, will visit them and listen to the members. Jongwoon previously mentioned that the moderator (LSM, as they call him) will just come by every time they have a performance-assignment.
He was a little nervous, but he doesn't want to acknowledge it. He was just going to sing right? He'll just do it just like the audition. It's truly egoistic and all, but he knows that he can sing well. So he shouldn't be nervous at all, he told himself. Sungmin helped in calming his nerves when he said that he shouldn't worry about LSM, because he is really nice. He is strict and straight to the point if in relation to their singing and performances, but he is like a father to the members. He rarely shows up but when he does, he'll always try and make the members feel comfortable.
He just played with his PSP while the other newbies were practicing. A senior named Jessica was trying to correct something in her sister's singing. She knew the latter (Krystal) because she sang before him in the auditions. The Taemin guy was humming and making dance steps, right... so this guy is going to dance. The Wendy girl was with Jongwoon, talking to him all hyper and giggly, eyes not hiding admiration to the man. Fangirling much? Jongwoon doesn't seemed annoyed with her though. Why was the guy easily annoyed with his teasing but doesn't seemed fazed with this annoying little girl, Kyuhyun wondered. Maybe he likes the attention and praise, he thought.
They were waiting in their seats, when a man in his 40's came to the door. Jongwoon and Taeyeon came to greet him.
Once they were all settled, Mr. LSM greeted them as a whole and said that though everyone prepared their solos, he will just listen to the 4 new members first. He said he wanted to know them more. Kyuhyun was agitated. He just wants to get this over and done with. However the other 3 newbies were all called before him. How bad of a luck. He was waiting in nervousness.
At last. "Cho Kyuhyun", he heard the moderator say. Kyuhyun went to the front, bowed and introduced himself. "So what is you major in the university Kyuhyun-ssi?"
"Applied Math seonsaeng-nim"
"Wow! A person who is capable of doing notes AND doing numbers -- not a usual combination!" The teacher's voice seemed like he was thoroughly impressed. "May I know your main reason for coming in to audition? Did you know of Vocal Arts Society even before?"
"Eer... to be honest, I was just told to come by that time. I really had no plans to join"
"Who invited you?"
"It's Sungmin" He said, and pointed at Sungmin, trying to divert the attention from him. He was uneasy with all these questions. He doesn't like standing in front, he just wanted to sing and get this over and done with.
"Oh Sungmin!" He then smiled to the teacher and said that he was also glad that the others were able to convince Kyuhyun to join.
"What made you decide to join in the end Kyuhyun-ssi?"
"Well the president here", everyone's head turned now to Jongwoon, "He said that this club needed the best vocals to be the country's best team. So I guess I shouldn't be selfish right?" The words just came off his mouth. He cannot help it. He ended it with a smirk as he looked at Jongwoon, nose crinkled up in exagerrated exasperation. Everybody laughed. Even LSM. (Well, almost everybody because Ryeowook didn't)
"We can totally make use of that confidence Kyuhyun-ssi!" LSM said, laughter now subsiding. "Alright, now that you seem less nervous..." Oh so, he was that obvious, Kyuhyun wondered "...what song are you going to sing?"
"Why I Like You seongsaeng-nim. By Super Junior... uhmmm, I'll do a ballad version to it, if that is ok?"
"Go ahead, make the song yours Kyuhyun-ssi"
And so Kyuhyun started.

He heard LSM said thank you and the members clapping. He bowed a bit and stayed glued in where he was standing. LSM will share his comments now.
"You have a good technique Kyuhyun-ssi. It is obvious to me that you did not have formal training but that just impresses me more because your basics are on point." Kyuhyun was smiling at that. The praises felt good, to be honest. "I know the song has a little upbeat tempo, but I liked how you managed to make an original version out of it. I think it was smart of you to do that. Not just copying how the singer sang the song... However" Oh right. Cho Kyuhyun is not perfect, I get it, he was inwardly laughing and bracing himself. "You were void of emotions. Just like the audition tape that I saw, you sang A Million Pieces?"
"Yes seonsaeng-nim"
"It was an emotionally charged song. This song as well today, has rich and positive emotions of being in love... I guess that was all that was missing." In love? His singing did not convey the lyrics of the song of being in love? Should he have been looking at his boyfriend when he sang? Would that have helped? "You were looking at either the floor or the ceiling or just at the audience in general, with a neutral face, and the neutrality came through your singing" the teacher continued.
"I understand seonsaengnim..."
"But other than that, you are a talent. I am glad that you joined the team. And also, quit calling me teacher. It makes me feel old. Call me LSM like the others" There was an eruption of laughter in the room.
"That I will do, LSM!" He said, and then retreated back to his chair. Sungmin was smiling at him and said a little "congrats", but he felt like the smile was forced. Was Sungmin upset?
"So! This was a good start" LSM said, still sitting on his chair but now facing the members. "I am glad with this team. I am looking forward to making a lot of great moments with you. Let's work hard and have fun at the same time, ok?" Everyone replied yes. "We still have 10 minutes to spare, do any old member here prepared something? Can we hear it now from you?"
Youngwoon then shouted, "President Kim Jongwoon!" Kyuhyun looked at the latter who was now frantically shaking his head and waving his hands, to decline it. But at that point everybody was already chanting his name, "Kim Jongwoon! Kim Jongwoon!" Kyuhyun chanted along with the others... This will be the first he'll hear him sing. His heart jumped. He was looking forward to hear the club president sing. Probably because he has been hearing from everyone that he really does have a good voice. He was just curious, that's all, he told himself.
Ryeowook now nudged him as if saying that he should go in front already. Jongwoon only complied at last when it was already LSM who asked him to sing. "LSM, I didn't really prepare anything because I know today was only for the newbies" a light protest from Jongwoon, but he was already walking to the front. Youngwoon again shouted, "But you made us prepare a song Jongwoon! Now this is your punishment!", teasing obvious in his tone. Jongwoon with his hand slightly scratching his head, an apologetic face but with a small smile said "Sorry it won't happen again you guys".
"Just sing whatever comes to your mind Jongwoon-ah", came LSM's voice.
And so he started. His voice seemed to command everyone to stop talking and stop whatever they're doing, because the room became a standstill, as they listened to him.

Kyuhyun's eyes was transfixed with the one singing all through out the song. A lot of emotions surged up. Was this what LSM told him was lacking with him? Emotions? How was Kyuhyun able to feel what the song's lyrics were saying? Was it all Jongwoon's doing? Was it just because of his singing with overflowing emotions? Is the singer really undergoing such pain and emotions that the song conveys right? Why did it felt real for Kyuhyun? Like, when Jongwoon opened his eyes after that last line he sang, why did Kyuhyun have the feeling of wanting to go in front, hug the man, and comfort him in whatever it was he was going through?
Everyone was clapping because Jongwoon did great. Kyuhyun of course clapped as well. Jongwoon's voice is special, put that as an additional thought. A lot was going through his mind because of Jongwoon's singing, but the one that really struck him most was the feeling of familiarity. Why does it feel like he has heard Jongwoon's singing before?

I am happy to report to you guys that this is definitely the start of KyuSungness overload. Haha! But of course we'll deal with the full-blown romantic KyuSung later on because I don't want them to be cheating on their partners. Cheating is bad. Huhu... But we'll definitely see how their relationship will grown =)

And then..... what else? Haha.. what do you think of this chapter? Read it together with chapter 12, because Chapter 13 basically starts with THAT SAME SCENE at the end of CH 12, we are just changing the point of view. So yeah. It will be cool to read them together/as one. =)
