CH 10 - Jongwoon
KISMETWhen Luna called the next person to audition, his eyes widened. Did he knew that name? Why was it familiar? He looked up and saw a tall, lanky brunette who was walking to the microphone in the middle of the stage. Oh right. This cocky guy. He never imagined for him to walk in here and audition.
This Cho Kyuhyun's walk had that air confidence in him. And, what the hell? He was looking right at him, smirking. Straight in Jongwoon's eyes. What now, he mused. His face in mixed confusion and annoyance. Luna clarified some information in his application paper, like his year level. He's still in his 1st year. Jongwoon was enraged, he's new and was already that rude and cocky?! Luna proceeded to ask him a few questions, like the song he is about to sing. Kyuhyun said that his was an easy choice, "A Million Pieces", because he can never go wrong with a ballad he said, Luna and Youngwoon chuckled a bit at that. He really know his way with words huh, Jongwoon mused.
Jongwoon decided to just check his phone messages, right, the phone which he got from this guy. He knows that it would look bad if he shows disinterest to this guy's audition but he doesn't care. He still can't get over what happened in the pond. Siwon was indeed a bit mad with what happened. He explained and Siwon eventually understood. But Siwon being mad at him, even for just a bit, bothered him to no end. A part of his mind actually wanted to snap back at him and tell him that this was how he felt in the many times that it was Siwon who would 'forget' to contact him. He'd actually feel worse. He cannot control his depressive state whenever Siwon doesn't text or call him, and sometimes it goes on for 3 straight days. And when he feels lowest, he goes by a day without actually speaking to anyone. It's only when Siwon comes back again and apologize and showers him with attention that he'll feel "normal". He isn't proud of it, but as of the moment, he doesn't know how to cure and control his feelings.
Jongwoon's thoughts were interrupted when a voice sang. He liked this song, so he was easily entranced when Cho Kyuhyun started singing. When the chorus came, he cannot help but look up at the one singing, only to find out that he was looking at him. Wait, has he been always looking at him since the start of his song? Jongwoon thought that it's just the usual way of trying to communicate to the audience but then he went to the second stanza and he's still looking at him. He never glanced at Luna, Youngwoon or Ryeowook. What is this Cho Kyuhyun doing?! Was he just trying to make him uncomfortable? Because if yes, then he is successful. Jongwoon is uncomfortable with the staring and at the same time annoyed to no end.
Jongwoon dropped his head and just listened to the voice echoing through the auditorium. He admits that Cho Kyuhyun has a really good voice. It's clear that he doesn't have formal training, but it's also clear that he is a natural. His was the best audition piece he has heard today, actually. But he'll never say that out loud of course. No, never. Because up until now, he can still feel those eyes on him. What the hell is this Cho Kyuhyun doing?!
When the song ended, Luna told him some information regarding callbacks if ever he'll be chosen. Ryeowook, who was in Jongwoon's right side, whispered to him, "Do you know each other?"
"Ughhh no"
"Really? Then those are just creepy- stares. He looked at you all throughout"
"Well actually, we have encountered each other already. Remember the other day, about that incident with my phone?"
"Oh, yeah, was that rude guy him?"
"Uh huh. Small world"
"But that doesn't explain why he was staring at you forever"
"He probably just wants to annoy me. He has that aura, don't you think so?"

Jongwoon, Ryeowook, Luna and Youngwoon stayed long to go over the audition tapes again. With them now was Taeyeon, Onew and Tiffany. This year they had to pick 4 people to join them because 3 members already graduated, and there's Changmin who quit.
Most of them in the room assented that the best in the bunch was Kyuhyun. Taeyeon was all praises towards him. Jongwoon pushed for Wendy. Youngwoon saying that he only wants Wendy because she is his fangirl, and everyone laughed when Youngwoon told the others of what happened in Wendy's audition. The third person that they think should join them is Krystal Jung, sister of another VAS member on her 4th year, Jessica. She sang "Breathe". She seemed quite reserved and silent, which was so unlike Wendy. Jongwoon was personally thankful for the fact that Krystal was good, because he doesn't know how Jessica must feel if they choose to decline membership to his sister if ever. Last would be Lee Taemin who sang "I Don't Know". It was a pretty simple song but he sang it with so much emotions that the audience would just be sold, no questions asked.
As they were trying to finalize their choices, Ryeowook cleared his throat. "Can we go over this Cho Kyuhyun guy?"
"..What about him?"
"..He was the best, hands down"
"..This dude caaan sing"
There were different murmurs regarding the guy. Ryeowook nodded to Jongwoon to psuh him to say something.
"Well uhmm... Here's the thing. That guy is super... Huh... How do I say it... Rude. And cocky. And... He has a really bad attitude. I think he'll just ruin the group's dynamics"
"Did he do something to you?"
"Nothing really big Taeyeon-noona. I just had the displeasure to bump into him the other day and he was the reason why my phone was broken --"
"Oh that's why you bought a new phone"
"Well no, this was actually from him..."
"Ehhh? So he covered for the thing he broke then?"
"Yes well, he did, but... Ughh... It's hard to explain. It was the way he talked to me that was rude. You have to be there to be able to see through him"
"He was staring at you a while back in the auditions while he was singing. It was probably his way of telling you he's sorry" Youngwoon teased with a snort. Jongwoon threw his pen to the other guy. "Ok fine don't believe me, let him in and you'll for yourselves how bratty that kid is"
"Jongwoonie, it's kind of unfair to judge the guy by just 1 meeting don't you think?" Taeyeon said.
"Yeah, and you can personally kick him out if he really proves to be a nuisance afterall! Haha" Onew joined in.
"I don't think we'll get to that actually" Tiffany said with her eyesmile. "Sungmin oppa can probably tame him and his brash attitude anyway"
Everyone was looking at Tiffany with slightly confused faces, not getting her point. "Oh! He and Sungmin oppa are an item guys! Hahahaha omg I feel like a huge gossip now, please don't tell people that you got that from me haha, I'm not even sure if they are an out couple"
Huh. Sungmin and Cho Kyuhyun are together 'together'? That's a brand new information. So, he is Changmin's cousin and Sungmin's boyfriend. What a small world, Jongwoon thought. He just met him just a few days ago and here he is, related to a number of people in Jongwoon's life. So much for not wanting to meet or know Cho Kyuhyun at all.

PS: You can check all these 4 songs. Of course we know "At Gwanghwamun" and "A Million Pieces" are Kyu's songs. "Breathe" is a song from SM Ballads. Krystal sang a japanese versh together with Changmin, go listen to it! :D And that one song entitled "I Don't Know" by Taemin too, he sang it so beautifully in Immortal Song =) ENJOY!
