Who Doesn't Love Personal Questions?

Unexpected Places

Jun/Minghao POV
“Are you ready?” Jun squeezed Minghao’s hand, rubbing his thumb against the back of it soothingly. They were currently standing outside a brightly painted blue door with the number 410 printed neatly on it. After a few days of non-stop pestering Jun had finally agreed to introduce his new boyfriend to his friends.

“As I’ll ever be,” Minghao shifted his weight nervously, rubbing the back of his neck with his hand that wasn’t currently ensnared by Jun’s. “What if they don’t like me?” Jun smiled at his boyfriend’s nervousness, although it wasn’t necessarily a good thing, it showed that he cared.

“I’m more worried about them liking you a bit too much. I don’t get to spend enough time with you as is, I don’t need more people sweeping you away from me!” He pulled Minghao’s hand to his mouth kissing the back of it lightly. The younger boy just rolled his eyes at the older’s possessiveness.

“Let’s just get this over with,” and with that he reached forward, ringing the bell. Much to his surprise, the door burst open immediately. The timing was, of course, a complete coincidence, Jeonghan totally hadn’t been waiting on the other side for the past fifteen minutes with his ear pressed against the door in attempt to hear anything. That would be completely ridiculous, right?

“Hey Jun!” Jeonghan enthusiastically greeted him before turning to the smaller boy by his side.

Holy Crap. Minghao was taken aback, the boy currently standing before him had to be the prettiest that he had ever seen with rather feminine [A/N Sorry Jeonghan we all know that you are a beautiful manly man] features and shoulder-length reddish brown hair that could only be described as majestic. “And you must be Minghao! My name’s Jeonghan, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” There was something almost sinister in his smile which sent chills down Minghao’s spine. He squeezed Jun’s hand a little bit tighter, and noticing the change, his boyfriend offered him a reassuring (and not at all evil) smile.

“Jeonghan, stop scaring them!” Another ridiculously attractive boy appeared, snaking his arm around Jeonghan’s waist. He was rather feline looking, with short dark brown hair and chocolate-colored eyes. Although rather different, somehow the two boys’ appearances complimented each other perfectly, the reason for which Minghao understood as he noticed the affectionate look that Jeonghan was giving the newcomer. “Sorry about him, he tends to be a little enthusiastic sometimes. I’m Jisoo, by the way.” The boy smiled warmly, a look that Minghao couldn’t help but return.

“I’m Minghao, but I’m guessing you already knew that.”

“What are you waiting for?” Jeonghan grabbed Jun’s arm pulling him, and Minghao by association, into the apartment. He continued to drag them through the short hallway and into the main living area. The apartment itself was very nice, there was something warm about it, almost homely that Minghao felt himself being drawn to. Everything in it was very light, the walls were a pale shade of yellow and the detailing was all in white. The space was decorated with several beautiful paintings of various sizes. Jun noticed Minghao’s staring and leaned forward to whisper in his ear.

“Jeonghan did all of those, he’s actually well know at Pledis for being an artistic prodigy.” Minghao’s eyes widened and he made a mental note to ask either Jisoo or Jeonghan about them later, preferably after the long-haired boy had calmed down.

“Guys they’re finally here!” Four of the five boys who had been lounging on the couch (or fluffy white carpet as Mingyu was concerned) jumped up eagerly. Seokmin, making eye contact with Minghao, merely offered him a supportive smile.

Among the other boys, Minghao immediately recognized Mingyu (of course) and the boys from Aju Nice Ice Cream,  Chan and Han-something, the fourth boy, however, was a mystery to him. Mystery boy had bleach blonde hair and, while he was thinking of animals (being introduced to Jun’s friends was a bit like braving the serengeti), oddly resembled a camel.

“Soooo Jun, who’s the special friend?” Camel boy wiggled his eyebrows, obviously aware of the identity of Jun’s ‘special friend’. Jun just rolled his eyes pulling Minghao close to his side.

“Nice to meet you, I’m Minghao.” He bowed and looked at Jun, eyes pleading for help as the other boys stared at him.

“Minghao these idiots are my friends. You obviously already know Seokmin and Mingyu, but this is Chan, Hansol, and Seungcheol.”

“Um, yeah, I actually met Chan and Hansol the other day, I ran into them after bowling with my friends.”

“Really? Cool!” Jun smiled reassuringly and Minghao couldn’t help but smile back.

“Awwwww, how cute!” Mingyu crooned and Minghao blushed while Jun, on the other hand, shot him a nasty look.

“Please refrain from scaring him too much, I would like it if this wouldn’t be your only meeting.”

“Us scary? Why I never!” Seungcheol clutched at his chest in mock offense.

“Sooooooo, how’d you guys meet?”

“What’s your favorite color Minghao?”

“What do you want to do for a living?”

“Where do you see yourself in five years?”

“What would you consider to be your greatest strength?”
“If you had to be an animal what kind of animal would you be?” Jun glanced at Minghao in response to the rapid fire questions. Minghao’s eyes had gone wide and the blood had drained from his face, he looked like a wounded gazelle surrounded by hungry lions. This seriously wasn’t good. Jun silently cursed, he really shouldn’t have introduced him to his friends all at once, it was, perhaps, a bit too overwhelming.

“Guys, this isn’t a job interview. Why don’t we all calm down a little bit, have some cookies, and get to know him in a peaceful, non-predatory fashion.” Minghao looked as if he could kiss Jisoo he was so relieved (not that either Jeonghan or Jun would let him). Jun silently blessed Jisoo, it was times like this when he really appreciated his American friend.

“What kind of cookies, babe?” Jeonghan narrowed his eyes, clearly suspicious.

“Your choice of Chocolate Chip, M&M, Peanut Butter, and Oatmeal Raisin- I baked while you were out working yesterday.” Jeonghan smiled brightly, obviously pleased with his boyfriend’s response. He leaned forward to peck Jisoo on the lips, causing the other boy to flush slightly, before dashing to the kitchen to retrieve said cookies. Jeonghan made a point of rarely running, but Jisoo’s cookies were just that good. That boy was seriously gifted in the baking department (although his cooking was another story).

Once everyone was happily munching away on cookies and comfortably seated, the questions began in earnest, but this time they actually left time for a response. Jun merely sat next to Minghao, silently offering his support while rubbing his back comfortingly.

“What’s your major?” Jisoo starts off with a simple, straightforward question, hoping to set the precedence. Minghao smiles slightly at the other boy’s obvious efforts.

“Journalism.”

“How did you two meet?” The younger Chinese boy looked at Jun expectantly, for some reason it had become his duty to explain to people how they met (according to Minghao he did it so much better, but Jun didn’t really believe that). After he had given the cliffnotes version of how their relationship began, the others continued their questions.

“Where are you from?”

“China…”

“When you guys talk to each other is it in Mandarin or Korean?”

“Mandarin, I haven’t been in Korea for all that long and I’m still not one hundred percent confident with the language.”

Jun watched the exchange and smiled, it appeared all his worry was for nothing. Thanks to Jisoo the meeting wasn’t as much of a trainwreck as he had initially thought it was going to be. Perhaps he was wrong and his friends weren’t as immature and overwhelming as he thought.

Studying Minghao, it was obvious that he was starting to relax a little, his shoulders not quite as tense as before. He was even comfortable enough to begin nibbling on one of Jisoo’s oatmeal raisin cookies (he didn’t even like oatmeal raisin but oh my god the cookies were delicious).

“So how far have you guys gone?” Minghao choked on his cookie and Jun groaned, he spoke too soon, these were his friends that they were talking about afterall.

“CHOI SEUNGCHEOL!”
“Oooooooohhhhh you’re in trouble!” The maknae snickered, watching his hyungs fight like this always amused him. It almost made up for all the times they smothered him, treating him like a baby. Almost.

“NOT HELPING CHAN!”

“Still not answering?” Seungcheol yelped, scrambling to his feet and running to hide behind Jisoo and Jeonghan as Jun chased after him.

“Nope, you can get yourself out of this one Seungcheol!” Jeonghan pushed him away and Seungcheol cursed under his breath, running and locking himself in the bathroom.

“Hide all you want camel boy, you have to come out sometime!” Jun turned back to the group and quickly assessed the damage. Hansol was currently dying of laughter, Chan was being smothered (much to his annoance) by Jeonghan, Mingyu was texting someone (hopefully Wonwoo), Jisoo was talking softly to a very pale Minghao, and Seokmin was just sitting back and watching the entire situation unfold, a rather amused expression on his face. Jun sent him a warning look- now was so not the time for his antics. He let out a heavy sigh, he loved his friends, he really did, but all he wanted to do now was go home and curl up in bed (preferably with Minghao).

Jisoo/Jeonghan POV

The evening had started off better than Jisoo had been expecting. But, to be fair Jisoo had planned for the worst,  Minghao being tackled upon entry and ending up in the ER. He had even prepared a first aid kit (despite Jeonghan mocking him about it). So needless to say, he was quite relieved when the only physical contact was between Minghao and his boyfriend, albeit very PG contact (something that Jisoo appreciated as a child of god. The only time his PDA with Jeonghan went above a PG rating, maybe PG-13 rating max, was when he was drunk. He lost all self control after drinking and practically threw himself at Jeonghan, which the other boy found very amusing. It was no wonder that he didn’t drink often).

Things had, perhaps, taken a downward turn after Seungcheol had asked a rather personal question, which had resulted in him being locked in the bathroom for 45 minutes until he had gotten bored and emerged. Jun had looked like he wanted to tackle him, but Minghao had tugged on his arm in an attempt to make him stop. It had worked.

After that, things had calmed down and the next few hours had gone by fairly smoothly. There were a few hiccups here and there like Mingyu asking if Jun was good in bed, but hey they’re only human, right? But, all in all, it had been a rather successful day: they had met Jun’s boyfriend and no one had died.

Jisoo also really liked Minghao, he was sweet and Jun obviously cared about him a lot. They made a good pair, too. It almost reminded Jisoo of when him and Jeonghan had first started dating. [A/N buckle up kids, and prepare yourselves for the condensed Jihan origin story]

They had met just over two years ago in Los Angeles. It had been June, the beginning of the summer right before they started college. It had been an a beautiful day and Jisoo had been out running errands for his mom. He was just picking up a few things from the grocery store when he had seen the long-haired boy. Jeonghan’s back had been to him so he had mistakenly assumed that he was a girl (not that he ever told Jeonghan that detail). What had caught his attention was how the cashier was asking him something which the other boy had been struggling to respond to.

What?” Even that one english word was heavily accented. “What does he want?” Jeonghan muttered in Korean, more to himself than anyone else. That peaked Jisoo’s interest, and he then proceded to make his way over to the cash-register.

“Excuse me, can I help?” Jisoo smiled at the cashier who repeated what he desperately needed to tell Jeonghan (he hadn’t given him enough money to pay for his groceries).

“You need to give him more money.” He spoke in Korean, turning to a very surprised Jeonghan, who he now realized was not a girl, just a very, very pretty boy.

“You’re Korean?” A slow smile broke out across the surprised boy’s face and for a moment Jisoo thought that he might go blind. The boy looked like an angel.

“Yeah,” Jisoo smiled brightly in return, trying to ignore the sudden pounding in his chest. “But you’re actually from Korea, right? I’ve never even been, my parents used to live there though.”

“Well thanks for your help…uh...”

“Joshua,” he provided, his smile never wavering. “But since you’re Korean I guess you could call me Jisoo. It’s kind of weird to be called Joshua when I’m talking in Korean.”

“Really?” The boy was still staring at him, causing him to flush a little. “I’m Jeonghan by the way. How old are you?” When Jisoo responded, Jeonghan broke out into a wide grin. “Seriously? We’re the same age!”

“Cool! So what brings you to the US?”

“Art.” Jeonghan had simply replied, shrugging his shoulders. “I’m kind of an aspiring artist.”

“That’s really cool, I’ve always wished that I was good at something like that,” Jisoo wrinkled his nose at the thought of his own mediocre (read: pathetic) artistic talent. “I can play the guitar pretty well though.”

“You should play for me sometime then.” Jisoo blushed bright red, embarrassed by how happy that simple thought made him. Jeonghan just smirked as if he was aware of the effect that his words had on the boy. Jisoo sighed, he really needed to get it together. There was no way this beautiful boy was flirting with him, he probably already had a boyfriend or girlfriend or whatever his preference was, just look at that face. Why would he be showing any interest in him? It didn’t make any sense to be feeling this way, especially because they just met for crying out loud.

“Are you okay Jisoo?” While Jisoo had been immersed in his thoughts, Jeonghan had leaned in closer, their faces now close enough that all Jisoo could focus on for a minute was how long the other boy’s eyelashes were before he recovered.

“Y-yeah, I’m, uh, fine.” If he had been flushed before, it was nothing compared to this. He felt his face heat up and Jeonghan chuckled lightly. Jisoo practically melted at the sound. “It was n-nice meeting you. I’ll see you around then!” In his embarrassment, he practically sprinted away, his grocery bag clutched tightly in one hand.

“Wait, Jisoo!” He had frozen, surprised to hear the other boy’s voice before slowly turning around. He was much more surprised when he saw the slight pink in the other boy’s cheeks as he handed him a card. “Maybe you could stop by sometime, if you want.” Printed on the card was an address of an art gallery and Jisoo looked at the other boy in bewilderment.

“I work there pretty much all day during the week. It would be cool if you would come visit sometime, if you want, of course. I don’t really know anyone here.”

“Oh. Okay.” Jisoo just stared blankly at the card, once again lost in thought and Jeonghan smirked.

“See you around Jisoo.”

Needless to say, Jisoo went to the art gallery. From there their relationship had only grown until it reached the point of something a little more than friendship. It was a completely new experience for Jisoo and, truthfully, it was a bit overwhelming. When summer had eventually come to an end and Jeonghan had to go back to Korea, neither Jisoo nor Jeonghan wanted what they had to end as well. They had ended up talking it out and agreed that they wanted to stay together, despite the distance.

For the next year and a half they had made do with frequent skype calls, emails, and occasional visits, maybe once or twice a year. Needless to say neither of them were really happy with that arrangement (it allowed far too little time for physically being together and holding hands and doing stuff), so when Jisoo had goten the opportunity to study abroad for the second semester of his sophomore year of college he didn’t hesitate to take it. Soon they were sharing an apartment in Seoul and they couldn’t be happier. Jisoo had adjusted well to life in Korea and had easily fit into Jeonghan’s friend group, becoming especially close with Hansol, as they could speak in English with each other.

“Hey,” Jeonghan pulled Jisoo from his thoughts, wrapping his arms around his back while he finished up doing the dishes from earlier. “What ‘cha thinking about?” He rested his chin on the other boy’s shoulder. Jisoo simply smiled.

“Us.”

“Really? All good things I hope.” He practically pulled Jisoo away from the sink. “C’mon, I’m sleepy.” Jisoo laughed lightly, it was times like this that he didn’t want to ever forget- Jeonghan being so affectionate and clingy. He knew it was cheesy, but it still blew his mind how he got so lucky.

“Jun and Minghao remind me a bit of us in the beginning.” Jisoo detached himself from Jeonghan, turning to face his boyfriend.

“I can kind of see that- Minghao blushes so much. It’s just like when I first met you, I didn’t even have to open my mouth, all I had to do was look at you and you turned into a tomato!” Jeonghan laughed and Jisoo swatted at his arms.

“Hey!” Jisoo couldn’t help but flush which only earned a smirk from Jeonghan.

“If it’s any consolation, you were the cutest tomato that I’d ever seen!” Jisoo just sighed rolling his eyes.

“If anything it’s not consoling, it’s relieving. I don’t think I’d like it much if you were attracted to fruit, it would be strange to have to be jealous of a pineapple.” Much to his surprise Jeonghan grew oddly quiet, staring at him intensly for a minute before grabbing his hand and pulling him in for a fiery kiss that left Jisoo breathless and practically seeing stars.

“What was that for?” he breathed and Jeonghan pulled him into a hug, cradling him in his arms.

“You don’t have to be jealous of anyone or anything,” he whispered into Jisoo’s ear as he buried his face in Jisoo’s shoulder. “All I ever want is you Shua.” Once again Jisoo found himself wanting to never forget this moment, wishing that there was someway to perfectly capture this feeling because this, this was everything.

“I know.”

Jun/Minghao POV

“I’m so sorry about my friends.” Jun said for the nth time that night. Minghao had to admit that it was cute how concerned he was, even if he had repeatedly told him that it was fine. Now that they were back at Jun’s apartment (Mingyu was staying with Seungcheol and Chan, he left with some lame excuse about wanting to practice acting or something. The amount of winking he had done left no doubt as to the real reason why he was leaving).

“Jun,” Minghao gently placed his hands on either side of the taller boy’s face. “Honestly, it’s fine. If you think that anything is going to change between us because of your friends, then you’re even more of an idiot than I already thought you were. I know how I feel about you and a bunch of overly enthusiastic friends isn’t going to change that.”

“Do you really mean that?” Minghao shot him an annoyed look.

“Of course I do, but you already knew that, didn’t you?” Jun grinned widely.

“Is that even a question? I just like hearing you say it, that’s all.” It was true that Minghao didn’t really like to openly show his affection, something that used to bother Jun (it had actually been the cause of their first fight, but that was something Jun didn’t really like to think about). Jun, while not an incredibly affectionate person like a certain friend of his from Hong Kong (*cough* Jackson *cough*), liked to be lovey-dovey with his boyfriend. When Minghao had initially shied away from his contact, Jun had completely misinterpreted it as a way of rejecting him. But now that he knew his boyfriend better, he realized that large amounts of PDA made him uncomfortable. Minghao was much more affectionate when they were in private and even then he sometimes found it difficult or awkward to talk about the way he felt. He was more of the ‘actions speak louder than words’ type, while Jun had no qualms about expressing his feelings in anyway possible.

“You’re so needy sometimes,” Minghao rolled his eyes but he made no attempt to stop the other boy as he pulled him into his lap. They were now sitting on Jun’s bed and Minghao was dressed in one of Jun’s t-shirts that was much too big for him and a pair of Jun’s old sweatpants that he had dug out of the back of his closet.

“But you like that,” Jun smiled hugging the other boy to his chest as he fell backwards onto the bed. “Are you really sure you’re okay after today?” Minghao groaned.

“Yes, as much as you don’t think it’s possible I actually kind of like your friends, especially Jisoo.” Minghao felt Jun smile into his shoulder, somehow they had ended up on their sides with Jun’s arms wrapped protectively around him.

“Well I’m glad that you like them,” He pressed a kiss against the base of Minghao’s neck, which sent shivers down his spine. “Now go to sleep, you have class in the morning.”

“Okay,” Minghao whispered, stifiling a yawn, “Oh and Jun? Don’t forget you still have to meet my friends.”

[A/N]

RIP Summer Vacation (*cries*)

On a brighter note, I actually did it! I actually posted twice more before school started for me (*high-fives self like an idiot*)! Tomorrow is the first day of my Junior year, which everyone says is the hardest year of high school :(

Anyways on a more writing-related note, I might not be able to update as much with school and all, so I appologize in advance. I don’t really know where this story is going, but I know that the last few chapters have been more group interactions. I think I’m going to focus a bit more on individual pairings/characters in the upcoming chapters as I have a few ideas for some interactions. Also I’m sorry if it’s been kind of Junhao heavy lately, I’ll try to work in some more Verkwan, Meanie, Seungcheol, and Chan action, I promise!
Thank you so much for reading, I hope you liked it! I’ll try to update asap!

Like this story? Give it an Upvote!
Thank you!
