{Club OMG}

11:15 PM

Five Minutes. It had been five minutes and Wonwoo already regretted his decision. He didn’t know why he agreed to go to a club. Like Jihoon, he had a distinct dislike of loud, dimly lit places packed with people, so you can imagine that club was completely 100% not his scene. He prefered to spend his Tuesday evenings doing something productive like going for a walk or reading a book. Not feeling distinctly uncomfortable as he stood pressed against a wall, desperately trying to avoid touching anyone. A loud laugh pulled him from his revelry.

“Not a fan of clubs, hyung?” He scowled before turning to face the speaker, already well aware of their identity.

“As a matter of fact, no. But I don’t see how it’s any of your business.” Wonwoo was 100% not in the mood for Mingyu’s shenanigans.

“It’s not really, but you seemed uncomfortable and, as you know, I have work in the morning. So I thought that you might want to ditch with me?” He shrugged and sent Wonwoo one of his annoyingly perfect smiles with his annoyingly white teeth.

“Where would we go? What would we even do?” Wonwoo eyed Mingyu skeptically who just smiled even wider and shrugged again.

“I don’t know, but when have I ever had a bad plan?”

    “Two words: Panda College.”

    “That was one time!”

“One time is all that it takes! Like Hell am I trusting someone who only stabbed one person one time by accident

“But that’s completely different! And besides it was a wonderful plan that would have worked amazingly if you hadn’t brutally killed it.”
“Amazing Plan? This is exactly why I don’t trust your decision making skills. Anyone who seriously calls that amazing should not be allowed to decide anything for anyone ever again.”

“Fine hyung” Mingyu huffed, pouting just a little bit and Wonwoo’s heart totally did not flutter, not one bit.

“I’ll just go by myself.” Wonwoo sighed, whenever Mingyu got upset he reverted to what he like to call kicked-puppy mode, in which he behaved exactly like an injured small puppy just begging to be loved. It was something that, as much as he loathed to admit it, he couldn’t resist.

“Fine. I guess I’ll go with you- but only because I don’t want to stay here.” Instantly the younger boy brightened.

“Thank you! I swear you won’t regret this!”

“Why would I regret this? You’re not going to do anything weird are you?”
    “Of course not.”

“Why do I not find that very convincing?”
“Who knows. Maybe you’re just weird Wonwoo.” Mingyu stuck out his tongue before skipping off into the dark night. It was still rather warm for the time of year with the temperature just about ten degrees [a/n 50 degrees F].

“I don’t think I’m the weird one here.” He muttered to himself as he hurried after the younger boy.

*******

“We’re here.” Mingyu said happily as they stopped in front of a very closed looking shop. Overall it looked to be rather nice, with large glass windows to let in plenty of light and a brightly painted sign. It seemed to be a flower shop of some kind as a large number of plants were visible through the glass. From the looks of it, it was a rather nice store, one that most college students would avoid shopping at because of its expensive aura.

“What the hell? You do realize it’s closed right?” Wonwoo shifted uncomfortably. This is what he got for trusting Mingyu, he was going to be involved in some kind of elaborate heist. That’s why Mingyu had insisted on him going, it was obviously part of his diabolical plan, one which he obviously needed two people to complete. Oh my god, this couldn’t be happening to him. He was far too young to go to jail. He was only in his second year of college for crying out loud! He still had so many books to read, so many cappuccinos to make, so many people to silently judge. He couldn’t just sit back and let this happen to him, no, he would not let his future be destroyed like this!

“No matter what, I am not going down with you! If we go to jail I will 100% blame everything on you.” Mingyu gave him a weird look.

“While as helpful as it is to know that you would not help me rob a store, that’s not why we’re here. Besides do I look like a felon to you?” Wonwoo blushed, and looked away muttering something to himself about how it was always the ones who you least suspected- that’s how they got away with it.

“Welcome to Smile Flower.” He grinned and spread his arms wide, Wonwoo just looked at him as if he’d grown a third arm. Seeing the confusion on his face, Mingyu laughed.

“It’s a florist shop that my family owns. I have the keys-see?” He fished a set of keys out of his wallet, holding up a very worn set.

“Okay… But why are we here? I don’t know about you, but I don’t typically make it a habit to frequent flowershops late at night.” It was rude, downright rude the way that Mingyu would not stop smiling at him.
“You’ll see in a minute,” Again with that flippin smile, his momma should seriously have taught him some better manners as a kid.

“This was one of my favorite places when I was a child.” And that was all it took. Wonwoo couldn’t help but feel oddly touched that he would bring him to such a place as he waited for Mingyu to unlock the door.

The inside of the shop was every bit as nice as the outside had made it seem. There were flowers and plants everywhere, so much so that you could barely see the cheerful pastel yellow walls peeking out from behind their leaves. It was also surprisingly spacious. Wonwoo couldn’t help but be impressed. He had always liked plants more than most people and currently owned an aloe plant named GD and a cactus who he simply called Jerry.

“Follow me.” Mingyu lead him to the back of the shop, behind the counter and through a door strategically hidden by a rather large potted fern. On the other side there was a narrow hallway with two doors off of it and a staircase. One of the doors lead to a small office and the other lead to a bathroom, but the boys walked past both as Mingyu lead them to the stairs. Up, up they climbed, past the second and third floors, which Wonwoo was just itching to ask about their occupants, not stopping until they reached the roof. Where Mingyu came to an abrupt halt, so abrupt that Wonwoo, lost in his own thoughts, almost didn’t notice and nearly walked into him.

“Close your eyes, okay?”

“Why?”

“It’s so much better if your eyes are closed the first time.” He was going to protest, he really was, but seeing Mingyu like this, so eager, so excited caused all his inhibitions to die in his throat and he found himself nodding and allowing Mingyu to cover his eyes with his slender fingers. And not to be creepy at all, but for some reason Mingyu’s hands smelled really good, like freakishly good. Somewhere in between apples and cinnamon in an incredibly pleasing fashion. It was different than his cologne (which Wonwoo totally did not love the smell of, not one bit) but it was something still so distinctly Mingyu-related that Wonwoo could not help the ghost of a smile that tugged at the corners of his lips.

“This better not be anything weird, Mingyu…” He warned, letting the taller boy guide him forward, cautiously taking a step down.

“Trust me, it won’t be.” And despite himself, despite his instincts that were screaming at him to stop, to turn back, to not listen to the beautiful boy beside him, he found himself trusting Mingyu just the teaniest, tiniest bit.

{Club OMG}

Jun was having a good, scratch that, great night. First of all, Jeonghan’s surprise party had been pretty dang sweet. If there was one thing that he loved in life, it was surprise parties for other people (not himself, he personally hated it when other people threw him surprise parties. It took him back to some painful memories involving ping pong balls and donkeys from his eight year old life that he’d love to forget).

There was just something about knowing such a big secret that left him feeling giddy and excited. It was almost like his love for pranking people except instead of being annoyed with him the other party was actually grateful instead. It was refreshing almost.

He had told Minghao about it, but the other boy had just rolled his eyes and told him that he was an ahole for pulling pranks on people in the first place. In response he had just grinned and attempted to peck his boyfriend on the cheek, who squirmed away and told him that he’d make a great villain. And, not going to lie, he actually agreed with him. He had always thought that he’d make a great stereotypical bad guy. After all, he’d always wanted to try having an ironic mustache at least once in his life and it would be so much better if it was coupled with some kind of diabolical plot. Maybe he could have some kind of cool island hideaway too, complete with henchmen and comic book-esque weapons, but that was so not the point right now. Bottom line, he was having a wonderful evening.

The restaurant they went to after the initial gathering was also really good, good enough that even if the party itself hadn’t been worth it, the food made waking up at five am and meeting Jisoo in a creepy parking lot 100% worth his time. It was fancy, but not too fancy to the point where it made him want to cry just thinking about the bill, which was always a good thing when you were a college student. Plus it was good to have a break from pizza for a while. As much as he loved getting discounted pizza from Mansae’s, it got a little bit tiring after eating nothing but it and instant ramyeon for an entire week.

It had all the components of a becoming a legendary evening: good food, good company, and, now that they were at the club, good music. He grinned, thinking about all the possibilities, something that did not go unnoticed by Minghao, who was standing by his side.

“What’s up with you? You seem weird.”

“Weird? I have no idea what you’re talking about.” He finished with a smirk. Teasing Minghao was definitely up there on the list of things he enjoyed, right between surprise parties and free food.

“Ughh forget it,” He rolled his eyes, something that he did a lot when he was around Jun.  “I’m just going to go find someone else to talk to.”

“Noooooo! Don’t leave me! I’ll be good, I swear!” He managed to snag Minghao’s arm as he turned to leave, pulling him into an impromptu, drama-inspired backhug. He couldn’t see his face because of their position, but he knew that Minghao would be blushing by now.

“Besides if you stay I’m sure we’ll have way more fun” He wiggled his perfectly-shaped eyebrows just as the younger pushed him away, giving him a pointed look.

“Jun, I’m not going to makeout with you here.”

“Awww come on, why not?”

“Because we’re in the middle of a club, with people around, that’s why”

“Exactly. We’re in the middle of a club. Do you know how many people here are making out already?” To emphasize his point he gestured to one couple who seemed intent on each other’s faces off. Minghao wrinkled his nose in disgust, the girl’s t-shirt was riding up and the boys hands were all over her. All over.

“Do you really want to be like those people?”

“Do you really want to keep answering my questions with more questions? That’s totally my point anyways. No matter what we do, we’ll still be more classy than Bridget and Dave over there.” Much to his delight, Minghao snorted, a look of amusement dancing across his face.

“You named them?” Jun mocked offense at his remark.

“Who do you think I am? Of course I named them. Now be quiet so I can tell you about their personal lives.” Minghao was full out beaming now, an expression that made Jun’s stomach do flip-flops.

“Bridget here, she’s an up-and-coming interior designer- but with a twist. She only decorates for children’s birthday parties. You’d be surprised actually at how lucrative of a business it is. There’s a surprising number of parents out there willing to splash the cash in order to achieve the perfect Thomas the Tank Engine aesthetic. Now you might be wondering how exactly one becomes a glorified children’s-party-designer, as it is not a path that many chose to pursue. Well, to put things simply she didn’t. Children’s birthday parties chose her. It’s a family business really, started by her great-grandmother and taken up by all the women of her family for generations. She had to fight tooth and claw for her position and now that she’s made it to the top she’d be damned before she lets anyone replace her.”

“And what about the guy?”

“I’m going to assume that by guy you mean Dave. Dave is carpenter and carpenter is Dave. Dave makes tables, really nice tables, award winning tables. His entire life is about tables. He eats tables, sleeps on tables, breathes tables- it’s how he met Bridget. Bridget needed a starfish table for an under-the-sea-themed party so she went to Dave, the nation’s leading table expert. And the moment that she saw him, she was immediately enamored by his gorgeous, impressive, stunning, y tables. And from there, my sweet Hao,” He leaned in and tapped Minghao on the nose, who laughed lightly.

“It’s history.”

“This is fun, let’s keep going.” Jun really wanted to add in a snarky comment about how making out in the bathroom would be a lot more fun. But because of his immense affection for Minghao, he held back. Also the fact that it was a crowded night and the bathroom was probably already occupied with another couple. Possibly.

45 minutes later they were laughing and drinking, and had come up with strange but exciting backstories for at least half of the club-goers. Jun was a little bit tipsy but so was Minghao and neither of them thought anything of it. That was until Jun’s phone started ringing, at least. He pulled it from his pocket, face brightening as he checked the screen.

“Hold on a sec, I have to take this.” He got up from their table and walked away, presumably to a place where he could hear things better. But Minghao couldn’t help the strange, small swirl of unease that filled his gut. He knew that he had no right to feel this way, he knew that Jun cared about him, they had just spent the last hour laughing and joking with each other for crying out loud, but he couldn’t help it. He just seemed so happy when he answered the phone and Minghao wondered who it was that could cause Jun to react like that. Who other than him, that is.

After nearly fifteen minutes Jun still hadn’t returned and Minghao was starting to get nervous. The uneasiness in his gut was growing, changing into something twisted and ugly. Something that he didn’t like. He didn’t like it at all. Frustrated, he rested his head against the table, enjoying the coolness of its metal surface against his flushed skin.

“Why am I like this?” He muttered to himself, staring at the unforgiving black floor.

“You know what? No, no I’m not going to be like this. I’m going to go find him and talk to him and everything will be fine. One hundred and fifty-seven percent fine.” And then maybe they could do something else. Something more along the lines of what Jun had been wanting them to do all evening. And then after that, they could head back to Jun’s dorm room and they could cuddle and watch bad movies until they both fell asleep. It would be perfect. Everything would be fine. Take that, inner voice, he thought, you don’t know what you’re talking about.

He got to his feet, stretching out his stiff arms before beginning the colossal task of finding Jun amidst the vast sea of people. After about five minutes of intensive searching, he finally spotted Jun off the the edge of the dance floor, standing near the door, as if he was waiting for someone. Minghao paused, admiring his boyfriend from a distance and calming his gut. Jun really was attractive, short brown hair slicked back from his forehead, displaying his smooth, perfect skin. The dim light made his already strong features seem even more striking, the shadows playing of his jaw line and making it seem sharp enough to cut. His caramel toned-skin was almost glowing in the lighting and even in just ripped jeans and a plain t-shirt, he seemed like a model. God, he was hot. Way hotter than Minghao, despite his claims otherwise.

He was about to go over to his boyfriend, when suddenly Jun’s face lit up. Minghao froze, following his gaze to the door where a girl had just walked in. She was undeniably pretty, even with the poor lighting, petite with a perfect figure and long hair that was dyed a light chestnut brown. Minghao felt nauseous as he watched her scan the crowd, spotting Jun who was already making his way to her with a huge smile on his face. It wasn’t her fault that she lit up like a Christmas tree under his gaze, who wouldn’t when Jun was smiling at them like that? Smiling a smile that Minghao had been foolish enough to think was reserved for him.

The logical, reasonable side of him told him not to be worried. Told him that Jun cared about him, would not hurt him with some girl, especially since, you know, Jun wasn’t exactly playing for that team. But the other side of him, the irrational emotional side of him was having a complete breakdown, sobbing, crying, and laughing while demanding he buried his feelings deep within a pint of ice cream (or ten). He remained frozen, caught between the warring sides of himself, unable to look away from the scene unfolding before him. It was like a trainwreck, horrific, nerve-wracking- but oddly hypnotizing, so much so that he had no choice but to watch.

The logical side was just starting to win out when it happened. They finally met and Jun pulled the girl into a tight hug. But that wasn’t what bothered Minghao, not at all. Jun hugged people all the time- he hugged Mingyu practically on a daily basis for crying out loud (it was more like a monthly basis, if he was being honest, but that was hardly the point). It wasn’t the hugging that bothered him, it was when the girl leaned forward and planted her ruby-red lips against Jun’s cheek that he freaked out. Jun did nothing to stop her, didn’t push her away or even say or do anything but smile at her and laugh. And that was all it took. All it took to push the slightly-drunk Minghao over the edge.

It felt as if the room was too small, as if he was suffocating as he pushed his way through the crowd, desperate to escape. Desperate to get out of the goddamn building where Jun was replacing him with some y brunette girl whom he had never even seen before. He didn’t even notice he was crying until he caught his reflection in the cool glass of the door as he pushed it open and burst out into the night. He was a mess, an absolute goddamn mess, his face was flushed, his hair tangled, and his eyes staring to turn puffy and red.

He practically collapsed against the brick wall of the building as, with shaky hands, he fished his cell phone out of his pocket. Opening the contacts he called the first number that popped up. He could not stop the tears as he waited for Jihoon to pick up, could not stop the viscous sobs that wracked through his trembling form. He could not stop his heart from breaking as he sat alone in the night.
